Trees is the long-lived perennial plants characterized by a single woody stem, known as a trunk, which supports branches and leaves.
They are essential to the Earth's ecosystem, providing oxygen, filtering air pollutants, and serving as critical habitats for approximately 80% of terrestrial biodiversity.

They can be broadly classified into:

1, Deciduous:
Trees that shed their leaves annually, typically in autumn.

2, Evergreen:
Trees that retain their foliage throughout the year.

Biological Structure and Functions:

1, Photosynthesis:
Through this process, leaves use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and glucose, which feeds the tree.

2, Root Systems:
Roots anchor the tree and absorb water and nutrients from the soil. They often form symbiotic "mycorrhizal" networks with fungi to share resources with other trees.

3, Vascular System:
The trunk contains xylem (wood) to transport water upward and phloem (inner bark) to move sugars downward.

4, Growth:
Trees exhibit secondary growth, meaning their trunks thicken annually, creating growth rings that can be used to determine their age.
Like all plants, trees manufacture their food through photosynthesis. Trees are in the family of woody plants which have cambium, a special layer of cells that allow the tree to increase in girth and are self-supporting with a single stem.

Environmental and Economic Impact:

1, Climate Regulation:
They act as "carbon sinks," absorbing billions of tonnes of CO2 annually to help mitigate climate change.

2, Temperature Control:
Trees can cool urban areas by up to 10°F through shade and evapotranspiration.

3, Water Management:
Their roots prevent soil erosion and act as natural sponges, filtering up to 95% of the water they absorb.

4, Economic Value:
Strategically planted trees can reduce home energy costs by 25% and increase property values by up to 20%.
