Pig is highly intelligent, social mammal belonging to the family Suidae. they are now found on every continent except Antarctica.

Key Biological Facts:

1, Intelligence:
Often ranked as the fifth most intelligent animal in the world, pigs are considered smarter than dogs and have the cognitive ability of a human toddler.

2, Cleanliness:
Contrary to the "pigsty" stereotype, they are exceptionally clean animals. If given enough space, they will never defecate near where they eat or sleep.

3, Senses:
Their most powerful sense is smell, which is roughly 2,000 times more sensitive than a human's. This acute sense allows them to find food 25 feet underground, a skill utilized by truffle hunters.

4, Temperature Regulation:
Pigs have very few functional sweat glands. They roll in mud (wallowing) not because they are dirty, but to stay cool, prevent sunburn, and deter insects.

5, Physical Traits:
Adult pigs typically have 44 teeth. They are surprisingly athletic, with domestic pigs capable of running up to 11 mph and wild boars reaching speeds of 15–35 mph.

Social & Maternal Behavior:

1, Communication:
Pigs use over 20 distinct vocalizations to communicate feelings like hunger, fear, or joy.

2, Nesting:
Sows (female pigs) are known for "singing" to their piglets while nursing. Before giving birth (farrowing), they have a natural instinct to build elaborate nests from grass and twigs.

3, Social Bonds:
They are highly social and often sleep "nose-to-nose" or in "piggy piles" to stay connected and warm.

Interaction with Humans:

1, Medical Research:
Due to biological similarities, pig tissues and organs are vital in medicine. They were the primary source of insulin until the 1980s, and their heart valves are frequently used in human transplants.

2, Production:
Approximately 1.5 billion pigs are slaughtered annually for pork, with China being the world's leading producer.

3, Pets:
Certain breeds, like the Vietnamese Pot-bellied pig, are kept as companions. They are highly trainable but require significant space and enrichment to prevent boredom.
