‎Majority of pig farmers are busy paying attention on how to get their animals fattened to a market weight with input cost that is not smiling but neglect to think out of the box. Rather, they are busy chasing the buyers that are ripping them off through their weighing scale that has been uttered and also buying the animals with cheaper amount. A market value weight of pig that is supposed to cost #2,500/kg but it will be priced between #2,000/kg and #2,1000/kg. The buyers already knows the farmer is in need of money and the cost of feeding the animals daily is biting hard on the farmer and with that they will bend to their cheap demands.

‎The way forward in making the real money from pig farming is through processing. And what are the ways?

‎Firstly, you would need to kick out laziness out your mindset. Why did l say laziness? It is because majority of the pig farmers love relaxation and don't want to work to make the bigger money. They just want to feed, weigh their animals when it is matured and go to bed.

‎Secondly, sit yourself down and start building your market chain. Because the market chains comprises the supermarket, the Chinese supply, the gala companies, hotels that you can be grilling edible pork(do you know people love well processed pork and they keep demanding for more) and the road side night sellers that people point to select their choices. The supply is were the bigger money seat that is the processing. For example you weighed an 80kg pig by #2,100 that is #168,000 that buyer would be paying. And you processed the same 80kg pig and the carcass weight is giving you 60kg because you have drained out the blood and others. Let say you decided to sell per kilo for #5,000. The entire carcass weight of 60kg would be giving you the sum of #300, 000. You can see why the buyers and the abattoir boys that kills the animals are making it bigger than the real farmers.

‎Thirdly, set up your own mini abattoir where you would be killing your animals for constant supply. Before you know from killing one animal per week or two weeks would lead to killing one animal per day. Ensure your abattoir is always neat and kept clean

‎Fourthly, get a refrigerator and ensure it is being powered by a solar since we are in the tropic region. Because the refrigerator is the place you would be keeping your left overs. Ensure your pork is well package with a good packaging material that carries your contact and company name.

‎And lastly, start creating an awareness to people around you, near by market, social media handles, radio stations. Remember, Alhaji Dangote starter small before he eventually becomes an household name.
