4 Misconceptions About Poultry Farming You Need To Know As A Beginner by Temmy0429(op): 1:52pm On Mar 14
If you think poultry farming is something you can do halfway, this will change your mind. These are the most persistent myths circulating among aspiring farmers and each one, left unchallenged, is enough to sink a business before it ever gets off the ground.

Poultry Farming Is Easy and Requires Little Labor

Let's get this out of the way immediately. Poultry farming is not for a lazy man or woman. No matter which system you're using battery cage or deep litter, you have to give it all it takes. Morning, afternoon or evening, whether there is heavy rainfall or the sun is scorching, your birds need to be fed. They eat during workdays or weekends, there are no breaks because these are livestock, and they rely entirely on you showing up.

And it's not just feeding. You also need to manage their litters, monitor health, track market prices, manage workers if you have them and the list goes on. Even farmers who have scaled up and hired staff will tell you there are still shortage of things that require their direct attention.

Beyond the physical labor, there is an observational discipline that separates successful farmers from struggling ones. When you walk into your farm every day, you have to notice your birds.
