On Wednesday 24 June 2026, the Ibese Plant of Dangote Cement Plc commissioned and handed over a state-of-the-art cassava processing facility to Kajola, its host community in Ewekoro Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun State.

The multi-million-naira garri and fufu processing facility will enhance agric value addition, improve rural livelihoods, and create sustainable income opportunities for local farmers and women processors.

The plant was delivered under Dangote Cement’s Community Development Agreement (CDA) signed with its host communities in 2022, and which provides for implementation of 3 development projects in each of the company’s 17 host communities within 5 years.

THE INSTALLED UNITS

The processing centre comprises separate garri and fufu production units equipped with modern facilities, including:

* One 5-ton-per-day peeling machine.
* Two 30-ton hydraulic presses.
* Fermentation basins.
* Two stainless steel sieves.
* Two mild steel frying vats.
* Solar-powered boreholes.
* Adequate water and sanitation infrastructure.

The facility will accelerate economic growth by boosting productivity, supporting small-scale agribusinesses and expanding income-generating opportunities across Kajola and other neighbouring communities.

So far, more than 166,000 farmers (inclusive 90,000+ cassava farmers) have been registered under the Ogun State Farmers Information Management System (OGFIMS), making them eligible for various government support programmes.

The Ogun State government currently subsidises 65% of farm mechanization costs and also provides 50% subsidy on improved cassava stems, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.

You hardly seen haters on food news...

If it is terrorist attack. .you will find them in numbers typing rubbish of different jagons

Very nice one. Impressive that the community requested for something productive, not just "recruit my children"

Can we at least, see pictures of the project?
I don't want to see those faces.

Will bandits and kidnappers allow people go to their farms even if farms mechanisation is subsidised by 80%.

What host communities should request of every entity it gives a land.

If you kidnap person for here, you’ll get caught 💯. Ogun state has one of the best anti-kidnapping squad. They’re just like a brand of Sarz..

Banditry: can you kindly show me the banditry stories you’ve heard about Ogun state? I’ll then give you your response..

Yes indeed.

It seems the host communities are forward-looking in orientation.

Nice one..

Yes it is.

Multiple northern states already have such subsidies for their farmers.

Its good southern governors are also picking up the gauntlet.
