Most discussions about agriculture in Nigeria focus on production. We talk about increasing yields, improving seeds, mechanization, fertilizers, and export opportunities. These are important. But I think there is another challenge that receives far less attention. Agricultural trade has an information gap. Many times, we know the product, but we don't know: Who grew or produced it. Where it came from. Who processed it. How it reached the market. Whether buyers can easily discover the people behind it. For many buyers—especially exporters, manufacturers, retailers, and international importers—this information can influence trust and purchasing decisions. As agricultural markets become more competitive, information is becoming just as important as the product itself. I believe Nigeria should also pay more attention to making its agricultural value chains more visible, transparent, and connected. What are you doing to make Nigerian agricultural value chains more visible, transparent, and connected? I would love to hear from farmers, exporters, processors, buyers, and anyone involved in agriculture. Let's discuss.
