So, another comedy call I received last night was from the farmer boy I employed to look after the remaining 4 acres. The guy has just disappeared from the farm since Saturday. His phone is ringing, he is even online on WhatsApp, but nowhere to be found. To continue the story, I planted the Ofada rice around late May. Some parts came up well while some didn’t, which was why I eventually had about 4 acres that I replanted around early June. Those came up well. So, I ended up with about 5 acres that were badly affected by birds, which I shared here last week. The remaining 4 acres were the ones I was planning to protect with netting, probably 2 or 3 acres first, based on the advice and suggestions I have been getting from people on Nairaland. Only for me to get a call last night that the boy had left the farm since Saturday, meanwhile, I was still communicating with him, and he told me on Monday morning that everything was going well. Honestly, this whole thing is getting tiring. What else am I supposed to do that I have not already tried? Even the paddy rice harvested from the 5 acres is still on the farm, exposed, and the birds have started attacking that one too. Now the remaining 4 acres that I was hoping to at least save and experiment with netting are also at risk because the person I left there has disappeared. And please, people shouldn’t just conclude that I didn’t treat the guy well. I honestly did my best. I gave him his monthly feeding allowance of ₦20k, provided provisions, tea, milk, soft drinks and other things. I did more than I would normally do for someone working on the farm because I wanted the farm to be properly looked after. At this point, I am honestly just weak. I don’t even know what else to say. Well, I have reached out to his parents, though This niniola song...o dun mi o just fill my brain |
