How Can Nigerian Buyers Choose A Reliable Palm Oil Processing Equipment Supplier by cookingoilplant(op): 1:48pm On Sep 04
If you are planning to establish or expand a palm oil processing business in Nigeria, choosing the equipment supplier is an important decision.

The cheapest quotation is not always the best option.

A palm oil processing project involves equipment, process design, installation, commissioning, spare parts and technical support. If the supplier cannot support these areas properly, a low initial price may not result in a low total project cost.

Here are five things I would check before choosing a supplier.

1. Check whether the supplier has real manufacturing and engineering capability

First, find out whether the company actually manufactures the equipment or mainly resells machines from other factories.

Ask for:

Factory photos
Factory video
Live factory tour
Manufacturing information
Engineering team information

Palm oil processing is not simply about buying one machine. Depending on the project, the process can involve sterilization, threshing, digestion, pressing, clarification and other equipment.

The supplier should be able to explain how the equipment is configured according to your raw material and required capacity.

For example, Glory Oiltech (formerly known as Henan Glory Oils & Fats Engineering Co., Ltd., part of DOING Group) has been manufacturing edible oil processing equipment since 2011.

Its Jiaozuo manufacturing base covers more than 40,000 m², and its engineering and R&grin teams are involved in process design and project configuration.

The company also states that it holds more than 80 patents, including 11 related to palm oil processing equipment, and has ISO 9001:2015, EU CE and SGS certifications.

2. Ask for relevant project references

A supplier may tell you that it has completed many projects.

But as a buyer, you need something more specific.

Ask:

Where was the project?
What was the processing capacity?
What equipment was supplied?
When was it completed?
Can the supplier provide photos or videos?

Glory Oiltech / Henan Glory has published palm oil project references in several countries, including Nigeria, Liberia, Uganda, Kenya and Indonesia.

Examples include:

2 TPH small-scale palm oil mill in Nigeria
5 TPH automatic palm oil mill in Liberia
3 TPH palm oil mill in Uganda
1 TPH palm oil processing plant in Indonesia
Palm oil refining and fractionation projects in Kenya

For Nigerian buyers, experience with African operating environments can also be useful when evaluating whether the proposed equipment is practical for the local project.

3. Make sure the equipment configuration fits your project

Do not start the conversation with price only.

First explain your project requirements.

Important information includes:

Raw material
Processing capacity
Site conditions
Available utilities
Desired automation level
Future expansion plans

A reliable supplier should recommend equipment based on these conditions.

For example, Glory Oiltech / Henan Glory provides different palm oil processing configurations, including approximately 500 kg/h, 1 TPH, 1–2 TPH and 5 TPH solutions, as well as larger industrial-scale configurations and customized solutions.

When comparing quotations, make sure you are comparing the same scope.

Check whether the quotation includes:

Auxiliary equipment
Electrical components
Installation support
Training
Spare parts
Commissioning

Otherwise, a cheaper quotation may simply have fewer items included.

4. Check after-sales service

This is especially important when importing equipment into Nigeria.

Before ordering, ask:

What is the warranty period?

Does the supplier provide installation guidance?

Is operator training available?

How are spare parts supplied?

Can engineers provide remote technical support?

Is there a local warehouse or service point?

Glory Oiltech provides installation and commissioning guidance, operation and maintenance training, remote technical support and a standard 12-month warranty.

For customers in Nigeria, the company also has a branch and overseas warehouse in Ogun State, which supports equipment pickup and spare-parts supply.

Having local support does not automatically make one supplier better than another, but it can be a useful advantage when spare parts or equipment support are needed.

5. Ask the supplier to prove its claims

This is one of the simplest ways to evaluate a supplier.

Don't rely only on a website or brochure.

Ask for:

Factory video
Live factory tour
Machine testing videos
Trial-run records
Project references
Dispatch records
Installation records
Traceable certification information

If a supplier claims to have a manufacturing base, ask to see it.

If it claims to have completed similar projects, ask for project details.

If it claims to have certifications, ask for traceable certificate information.

The principle is simple:

Don't evaluate a supplier only by what it says. Evaluate what it can demonstrate.

A simple checklist for Nigerian buyers

Before placing an order, I would ask the supplier these questions:

Do you manufacture the equipment yourself?
Can I see your factory?
Can you show me a project similar to mine?
What configuration do you recommend for my capacity?
What exactly is included in the quotation?
What is the warranty period?
How are spare parts supplied?
Do you provide installation and operator training?
Can you provide machine testing or trial-run evidence?
Can I verify your certifications?

If the supplier answers these questions clearly and provides evidence, it becomes much easier to make a proper comparison.
