Hey there darling food lovers! ![]() It's always sad for me whenever I have to throw out food stuffs because of their perishable nature or thanks to our darling PHCN (electricity company in Nigeria). In my bid to reduce my agony and waste of food, I stumbled upon a terrific recipe. This one's for putting overripe plantain to good and sumptuous use, it's called Plantain Moin-Moin (Ukpo Ogede). Yes o! I'm still on team-no-wastage parade and here is something ooh la la you can do with that overripe plantain you were thinking of throwing away http://9jafood.com.ng/recipes/local-dishes/plantain-moin-moin-ukpo-ogede/

If asked, many of us will say we maintain a healthy diet. How true is that though? I wonder. I came across this fun quiz that can help us test our individual knowledge on what healthy diet really is. Please go through the following questions and mark your answer. You will see the correct answers after the question. This will make it easy to see how well you did in the healthy diet test! Erm… NO CHEATING! 1. Is spaghetti Bolognese a healthy evening dish? Yes/No 2. Is it better to have full fat or low fat Yoghurt? 3. Do you know what happens to your body if you drink too much coffee? 4. Which is the healthier sugar: Brown sugar, Agave, Maple syrup, Honey? sugar types 5. What is the ideal amount of fruit and vegetables to eat every day? ANSWERS 1. No!!: White pasta is bleached and refined and has no nutrients! The tomato sauce (unless homemade) is also full of sugar too. 2. Full Fat!: Low fat yoghurt is replaced with loads of sugar! This is much worse for you. 3. It makes you tired in the long run and over a long period of time it can exhaust your adrenal (stress) glands. 4. Honey!: It is the most natural form of sugar there…the rest are highly processed and raise blood sugar considerably. 5. 1-2 portions of fruit per day (Too much sugar otherwise) and 10 or more vegetables per day! In Conclusion One of the major problems with our diet is that we don’t take time out to read on the implications of the foods or drinks we consume. Henceforth we need to stop: - Excessive consumption of coffee - Excessive intake of sugar - Eating too many portions of fruit. Yes i know fruits are healthy but there’s a say ing that too much of everything isn’t good. - Buying processed food without reading the nutrition content on the pack. Some of us even react to some compounds. Yet we purchase our groceries without checking out the content Remember!! You are what you eat.
