dainformant: The operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three one-chance robbers on the Third Mainland Bridge while another jumped into the Lagoon with the gang’s loot.
The robbers, John Akinyemi, 27; Paul Oliseh, 37 and Amos Williams, 12, were arrested on Monday afternoon on the Third Mainland bridge after a chase by the Rapid Response Squad patrol team monitoring Iyana-Oworo.
The policemen after being informed that the one-chance robbers were operating around the area, chased the bus, a Volkwagen Transporter with the registration number, AKD 562 XP to the bridge.
The robbers, after being double crossed by the officers on the Third Mainland Bridge, abandoned their vehicle and were fleeing on foot when they were arrested.
One of the robbers, who was later identified as Junior, 19, was reportedly hit by speeding vehicles twice on the bridge before jumping off into the Lagoon.
According to the leaders of the gang, John Akinyemi, “there were four of us. I was in charge of calling the team to work. It was our first trip for the day. We took four passengers in Estate Bus Stop in Alapere. They were going to Oshodi. We dispossessed them and dropped them off before Iyana-Oworo one after the other.
We took their phones and money. We have been doing this for more than three months. We sell the mobile phones and jewelry, and we share the money”.
One of the victims, Semiu Oluwaseun, who alerted the RRS officers immediately he was thrown out of the moving bus, said the robbers collected his phone and the sum of N500,000:00.
Another victim, Jamiu Ojuroye, who was robbed on Sunday, identified John Akinyemi as the driver of the bus he was robbed in. He noted that he was robbed on Sunday night and that the robbers team took N150,000:00 from him before threw him out of the speeding bus.
Ojuroye added that after struggling with the robbers, they poured a peppery substance on his face, took his money before throwing him off around 8:00 p.m.
The robbers were paraded today by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, at the Command Headquarters.

goldcoinhub: Not less than 41 Nigerian prostitutes were arrested in Weiba, Ghana around a place called Choice where several pubs operate at night.
The arrest of the prostitutes followed a tip-off from some residents in the area who had commented over the "nuisance activities" of the prostitutes, which have turned the vicinity into a haven for drug peddlers and armed robbers.
Due to these complaints received, the police laid surveillance and subsequently arrested 41 of the prostitutes, most of whom Chief Inspector Eninful said were Nigerians between 18 and 25 years.
The Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) had earlier hinted of decriminalizing prostitution in the coming months. This was according to the commissioner, Joseph Wittal, who says, prostitution as a mode of work cannot be linked to a crime. "Decriminalizing prostitution is meant to rig the status book of offenses that seem to be targeting poverty.

[quote author=Okinqz01 post=70390748]I was driving on third mainland bridge and had a flat tyre just before the Yaba turning. As I pulled off the road to change the tyre, a police man approached me asking what the problem was. Before long he had called his colleagues and they were helping me change my car tyre. I must confess, I was a bit uncomfortable seeing the officer getting down to change the tyre while I assisted. After changing the tyre, they gave me a pack of sachet water to wash my hands, then I was wanting for their next move... To my surprise they simply wished me well as I continued my journey, absolutely no request or demand for anything. So I want to say a very big thank you to officers Zakari, Adeyemi and Augustine Ameh for really demonstrating that the police can really be your friend. Just about the same time another driver pulled over who had missed his was, they were equally as helpful with such gracious attitude. Sometimes we look for the spirit of the New Nigeria in the wrong places, but that Saturday I was excited to see that the spirit of the New Nigeria is already at work all around us, modelled by simple everyday people. With all the negative things that come out of the Nigerian Police Force, it was so amazing seeing these men of the Nigerian Police demonstrate such selflessness at no cost. To officers Zakari, Adeyemi and Augustine Ameh, I salute and honour you for your conduct. I pray you will see and enjoy the reward of the good investment you are making in this country. I hope this can somehow get to the force authorities. God bless you![/quite]kudos to those police officers but to confess fact such nice act not common.
