Laspotect247: Random Thoughts on the Southeast: A Region of Untapped Potential - omobabaijebu
I’ve never seen a region with so much to offer yet so underutilized as the southeastern part of Nigeria. No disrespect to my brothers, leaders, and friends from the Southeast, but the truth must be told: the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the Southeast doesn’t come close to reflecting its true potential.
Having visited nearly every senatorial district in the region, I often find myself wanting to knock on the doors of state governors, or better yet, gently tap them on the head (no offense, of course) and ask them to wake up!
Take Ebonyi State, for example. It has the potential to be the agricultural powerhouse of the Southeast. Imagine encouraging local farmers, getting more people into agriculture, and setting up facilities like rice mills, palm oil mills, and cassava processing plants in places like Okigwe, Arochukwu, or Osisioma. In just five years, the Southeast could become self-sufficient in rice production and even export to other regions.
A modular refinery in Obehie could revolutionize production. With strategic planning, the five southeastern states could allocate a fraction of their IGR to purchase crude oil from the federal government. The benefits? Employment opportunities, increased revenue, and greater economic independence for the region.
And what about Aba, Owerri, and Enugu? These cities are ripe for a thriving fashion industry. With the talent and creativity already present in Aba’s famous markets, why not establish a Southeastern clothing and footwear brand? Imagine exporting “Made in Southeast Nigeria” shoes and clothes across the country and beyond. It’s not just a dream
Enugu, on the other hand, is a hidden gem for tourism. The iconic Nike Lake could be revamped into a world-class tourist attraction. With its stunning landscapes, the city could also promote activities like hiking, skating, and other recreational adventures. Trust me, tourists will come flocking!
Yes, there are challenges, including the unfortunate issues with “Unknown Gunmen” (UGM). But let’s be honest, when a government takes development seriously, even the most stubborn challenges can be addressed. A functional Southeast Development Commission could spearhead these efforts, transforming the region into Nigeria’s version of China, a hub of manufacturing, innovation, and economic growth.
The potential is there, waiting to be unleashed. It’s time to maximize the economic strengths of the Southeast and let it shine as the beacon it’s meant to be.
- Omobabaijebu That is why we want our own total autonomy in whichever name you call it |

chrisxxx: I hope that Gov. Fubara could read this. That the OPM pastor that he donated the hard earned #200m of Rivers State money took foreign investors to his state Abia State instead of Rivers State where his church is. I have always told people that anyone who has genuine gift and powers of miracles won't leave his community. People will come from far and wide to look for him. If I have miraculous power I will heal all my people first before going to town if at all. How? |
Politics › Re: Kano Airport Massacre Of Igbos In 1966 (Video). Biafrans Shall Never Forget. by Abaki5: 1:34pm On Nov 08, 2024 |
DomPerignon: Well it didn't help you guys by mocking the murder of prominent northerners like the PM, Sarduna and military officers of northern extraction.
I heard Ibos in Kano went about telling their northern hosts that they were now fully in charge of the country. Prove!
There was even a record released celebrating the murder of the Sarduna.
Ibos even printed and circulated banners and calenders mocking the Sarduna being slaughtered with Kaduna Nzeagwu portrayed as Angel Micheal standing over a dead Sarduna that was depicted as Satan.
You brought this to yourselves.
But let's not ignore that Ibos also began murdering northerners in the occupied Midwest and across Biafra. The Ibos also systematically were murdering and genociding entire minority people in both the Midwest and occupied coastal lands of Biafra.
You were no saints.
What happened was simply instant karma in the form of FAFO (Fck Around , Find Out).
I used to have some pity for you guys over what transpired in the north but the hidden atrocities you committed on my people in the SS has made me come to realise that whatever the northerners did to you was justified.
And from the fact that it's only Aboki you guys no dey carry Una madness join body shows you only understand violence to reset your brains. |
