When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus. Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, video games, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more. As an owner of a home based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children? Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself? Here`s a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business: TIP #1: Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver`s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn. TIP #2: Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others --- most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment --- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn`t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible? Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended. TIP #3: When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday. With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business. TIP #4: Don`t permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working. Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization. You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business. You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do. TIP #5: You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications. Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity. TIP #6: When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities. As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you. CONCLUSION: In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make. You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business. Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary. |
t’s been a little while since I’ve blogged about the T-Mobile G1 Google phone so I thought I’d give my user perspective after having the phone for about 5 months now. Overall I have to say I’m pleased with it - very. My only remaining gripes are the shortish battery life and the back light on my keyboard (and I say my keyboard because I have the bronze version and that one is known for the problem - the black and white versions have different colored keys and don’t exhibit the same problem). Apart from that it’s amazingly good, and has been very resilient to my day by day use. What have I done with it? - Well the main use I have for it is email I have to say. Far and above the most common use. Second is texting probably and third is actual phone calls. I don’t know, I’m just not a big talker on the phone! Then there’s Youtube - I use that quite a bit. Oh, and the Internet - a lot of Wikipedia and sites like that. Lastly, from time to time I use some of the applications to follow sports scores, to look up barcodes or to just show off its capabilities. So, if you’re looking to buy a new phone I would wholeheartedly recommend the T-Mobile G1 Phone with Google, Black (T-Mobile) |
With a promised price tag of less than $50,000 (after a $7,500 federal tax credit), the new Tesla Model S sedan is certainly a good deal cheaper than Tesla’s pricey roadster , not to mention its competitors , but according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, it’s actually quite a bargain compared to your run-of-the-mill sedan as well. As Musk tells it, “the ownership cost of Model S, if you were to lease and then account for the much lower cost of electricity versus gasoline at a likely future cost of $4 per gallon, is similar to a gasoline car with a sticker price of about $35,000.” Musk further adds that the Model S would still be a bargain “even if gasoline were $1 per gallon,” saying that it costs just $5 to drive 230 miles. Of course, all of that assumes that you’ll actually be able to get your hands on the car one of these days, but Musk seems confident that’ll happen as well, saying that the company is “close” to receiving $350 million in loans from the U.S |
For the past two years, Web 2.0 has been a generating a good amount of buzz in the internet community. It has often been described as the new online revolution that is set to take over the internet world. Although that is in part true, many would be tongue tied when asked to further describe this ‘revolution’. Web 2.0 is a term used to describe the new breed of websites, web services, web applications and technology being used today. Before explaining further what Web 2.0 is, it would be helpful to understand what Web 1.0 is and the early days of the internet. During the nineties, the internet was considered to be another just type of mass media. We have the printed media (newspapers and magazines), television broadcasts, radio broadcasts and the internet. Back then, websites were used merely as an extension of existing mass medias. With the development of web technologies and the introduction of broadband connections, the internet can now be used to perform a variety of functions that could not be performed by any other forms of mass media. The new generation of web services and web applications being used on the internet today are classified as Web 2.0 applications. The ‘Web 2.0’ concept refers to an era where the internet is used as a sole platform to perform a variety of functions that are not possible on other mediums. Web 2.0 functionalities can be taken advantage of with nothing more than a computer, a web browser and a broadband connection. Web based e-mails can be considered to be one of the earliest forms of Web 2.0 application. Using just the computer and an internet connection a person can send a series of texts to another internet user through the use of web applications (such as Hotmail or Yahoo mail). Blogging is another child of the Web 2.0 evolution. One would probably think that blogs are nothing more than websites that serve as online journals and discussion channels for individuals. That may be true, but what is revolutionary about blogging is the way the blog is created. Traditionally, a series of softwares are needed to create, design and update websites. A blog on the other hand, can be created, published and updated on the web browser by just using online web applications like Blogger.com and . The various applications used today for sharing data and information are also products of the Web 2.0 evolution. Feeds, podcasts, RSS and other information sharing services are some examples of Web 2.0 applications |
Many experts would agree that the best forms of traffic are those gathered from search engines. Visitors from search engine traffic are highly targeted and convert very well (if you are selling anything on your website). Although search engine traffic is technically free, the resources needed to obtain a considerable page rank are anything but free. It would usually take months to achieve first page rankings for popular keywords due to the stiff competition from hundreds of websites. Businesses and big corporations sometimes spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to achieve good rankings on search engines. As search engine optimization efforts become more and more difficult, many are resorting to other forms of traffic generation methods. Social media marketing is currently one of the newest and hottest techniques used for traffic generation. Social medias are basically online avenues that allow social interactions between individuals and groups of people. Obvious examples include websites like Twitter and Facebook. Content sharing websites like Flickr and YouTube are also considered as social media sites. Generally, it is much easier to achieve good search engine rankings on a social media web page than it is on a blog or regular website. For example, it is much easier to achieve a PR 4 status (Google page rank) on a YouTube video page than it is on a blog or website. Because of this, many internet marketers are using social media as their main source of traffic. To be successful in social media marketing, you will have to master the science of social media optimization. Regardless of the type of social media that you are using, there is one universal rule when it comes to social media marketing; the more ‘friends’ and contacts, the better. Whether you are using blogs, social networking sites or video sharing sites, the number of contacts or ‘friends’ on your profile will greatly determine the level of success that you will achieve. Another important step in social media optimization is having the right content on your profile. Generally, your profile page should contain the keywords that you wish to optimize for. The content of your profile or on any particular page should be of value and that which many are interested in. Great and interesting content serves as an automatic traffic magnet. If you have posted an interesting video on YouTube that attracts about a hundred visitors a day, that page can easily achieve a PR 3 status within a month even without any back-link efforts. The link to your blog website should also be present on all your profile and content pages. If you are creating content pages on websites like Digg, StumbleUpon or Squidoo, make sure that your content is fresh and original. Search engines usually block out duplicated content and materials. |

Nigeria is a country located in western part of Africa with a land area of 923,768.64 square kilometer and a population of 150,635,626 making it the most populous country in Africa and most populous black country in the world. The country is made up of thirty-six state and a federal capital territory. Nigeria shares boarders Benin Republic in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east and bonded with Niger in the north leaving the southern part of it coast line to share with the Atlantic ocean. The federal capital is Abuja. Major ethnic groups Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. The people of Nigeria have an extensive history, and archaeological evidence shows that human habitation of the area dates back to at least 9000 BCE.[4] The Benue-Cross River area is thought to be the original homeland of the Bantu migrants who spread across most of central and southern Africa in waves between the 1st millennium BCE and the 2nd millennium CE. The name Nigeria was created from a portmanteau of the words Niger and Area, taken from the River Niger running through Nigeria. This name was coined by the future wife of the Baron Lugard, a British colonial administrator, during the early 20th century. Government . The current president of Nigeria is Umaru Musa Yar'Adua who was elected in 2007. The president presides as both Chief of State and Head of Government and is elected by popular vote to a maximum of two four-year terms. The president's power is checked by a Senate and a House of Representatives, which are combined in a bicameral body called the National Assembly. The Senate is a 109-seat body with three members from each state and one from the capital region of Abuja; members are elected by popular vote to four-year terms. The House contains 360 seats and the number of seats per state is determined by population. Ethnocentricism, tribalism, sectarianism (especially religious), and prebendalism have played a visible role in Nigerian politics both prior and subsequent to independence in 1960. Kin-selective altruism has made its way into Nigerian politics and has spurned various attempts by tribalists to concentrate Federal power to a particular region of their interests.[25] Nationalism has also led to active secessionist movements such as MASSOB, Nationalist movements such as Oodua Peoples Congress, Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta and a civil war. Nigeria's three largest ethnic groups have maintained historical preeminence in Nigerian politics; competition amongst these three groups, the Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo, has fuelled corruption and graft.[26] Due to the above issues, Nigeria's current political parties are pan-national and irreligious in character (though this does not preclude the continuing preeminence of the dominant ethnicities).[27] The major political parties at present include the ruling People's Democratic Party of Nigeria which maintains 223 seats in the House and 76 in the Senate (61.9% and 69.7% respectively) and is led by the current President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua |
