[b] A 10-year-old boy died after being beaten up by a teacher in his school in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

A first information report (FIR) was lodged against school teacher Rahul on Tuesday after Sajid a Class 5 student at Lucky Public School in Azadnagar, over 100 km from Lucknow died on Monday evening after being allegedly beaten up by him.

The boy's father, Nizamuddin said that his son was dropped home by some bikers on Monday afternoon in a semi-conscious state. His parents took him to a medical facility where he died during treatment. Police have seized the body of the student and sent it for autopsy.

"Based on the allegations levelled by the family of the boy, we have lodged an FIR. Further action would be taken after we get the post-mortem examination report," Superintendent of Police (SP) Kannuaj Vinod Kumar Singh told reporters. Family members of Sajid said his classmates had confirmed that he was bashed up by the teacher.

No arrests have been made so far. Kannauj is the parliamentary constituency of Dimple Yadav, wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.[/b]
