Nowhere and at no time did Guinness World Records EVER recognize Tunde Onakoya as a Chess record holder.

I hope lawsuits don't follow from the sponsorships, endorsements & awards he received.

Askild Bryn and Odin Blikra Vea earn a place in history after playing chess for 61 hours, 03 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Askild Bryn and CM Odin Blikra Vea have shattered the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Longest Chess Marathon.

In a stunning display of endurance and mental fortitude, and after playing a total of 383 five-minute blitz games, the record was officially confirmed at 10 p.m. local time in Stavanger, Norway.

The former world champion (Magnus Carlsen) regularly visited them throughout the attempt, as he did when the record was secured. "I am really proud of them. I honestly had my doubts if they were gonna make it, but they were always very serious about it and they prepared very well," Carlsen said.

SportsGuinness World Record's Chess Record Holders Are Norwegians, Not Tunde Onakoya by Afonjah(op): 12:47am On Jul 23, 2024
Odin Blikra Vea and Askild Bryn, two men from Norway, have broken the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest chess marathon.

In a recent blog post, GWR said Blikra Vea and Bryn “earned a place in history” after playing chess for 61 hours, 03 minutes, and 34 seconds.

The British reference book added that the feat was achieved in Stavanger, Norway, on June 4, 2024.

“In a stunning display of endurance and mental fortitude, and after playing a total of 383 five-minute blitz games, the record was officially confirmed at 10 p.m. local time in Stavanger, Norway,” it said.

The GWR, however, remained silent on Tunde Onakoya, the Nigerian chess champion and child education advocate, who completed a 60-hour chess marathon in New York without losing a single game.

On April 17, Onakoya embarked on his record-breaking attempt and even played chess with Shawn Martinez, also a chess master. During the attempt, he launched a fundraiser to empower illiterate children across Africa through the feat.

On April 20, the Nigerian surpassed the 56-hour mark; the previous record set by two other Norwegians Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad on November 11, 2018.

GWR is typically expected to vet an attempt before confirming that a new record has been set on any task.

While Blikra Vea and Bryn’s record of 61 hours may be ahead of Onakoya’s 60 hours, the British reference book appeared to have taken no notice of the Nigerian’s attempt.

How long does it take?

The length of time for the application process and then the evidence review for the attempt itself depends on the type of application selected.

The GWR reviews documentation in 12 weeks and tells applicants whether their attempt has been accepted or rejected — that is for standard record attempts. When there are many applications, the waiting time may be longer, at least 16 weeks.

It however remains unclear why the Norwegians, whose attempt was concluded on June 4, were responded to while the GWR has yet to reveal if they accepted or rejected that of Onakoya (April 20).

PoliticsRe: Can Anyone Informed Explained What Is Happening W/ Dangote Refinery? by Afonjah: 10:33pm On Jul 22, 2024
Tinubu jumped the refinery's fence some weeks ago and made away with valuable catalysts for refining high grade fuel.

He was caught on CCTV camera.

Now, since it will be unprofessional to expose a sitting President, Dangote decided to get compensation from NNPC by requesting for free fuel.

NNPC refused and said Buhari is still the Petroleum minister so whatever crime Tinubu comitted cannot be repaid from Northern ministry.

This angered Dangote and he released his Indian aide upon them since he didn't want to offend his fellow Fulani brother - Buhari. The Indian came with Punjabi skills but met his match in Farouk Ahmed - a hardened Mecca Jihadist with a big black mark at the top of his skull carefully concealed with cellotape and a cap.

The Indian retreated and Ahmed decided to divert all of Dangote's crude oil to oil bunkerers in Niger Delta willing to offer him 5%.

Tinubu on the other hand, fearing a revelation of his petty deeds on social media, ran to Ghana to hide and sent his lapdog, Abass to go and destroy the CCTV evidence Dangote had under the guise of National Assembly inspection.

While Dangote's Indian Punjabi aide was giving them a tour of the refinery, Abass snuck into the server room and stole the CCTV hard drive. He hid it in his boxers underneath his agbada. The drive's AI transmission affected the juju that was already concealed in Abass' boxers and battle for supremacy ensued between both powers. This was why Abass was sweating profusely throughout the tour.

Eventually, the juju disabled the CCTV hard drive and Tinubu's crime was lost forever. Unfortunately, the battle burned a hole in Abass blockos so expect him to sneak out for medical check up very soon.

Tinubu, finally relieved of this burden, returned to Nigeria yesterday and Dangote while trying to create a blockbuster post to shut down social media, realized that his leverage had gone.

Defeated, Dangote had no choice but to put his refinery up for sale to the same people that torpedoed it.

The end.

PoliticsAliko Dangote Offers To Sell Oil Refinery To FG-Owned NNPC by Afonjah(op): 9:29pm On Jul 21, 2024
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is willing to sell his multi-billion-dollar oil refinery to NNPC Limited, Nigeria’s state-owned energy company, amid unresolved differences with the federal government.

The 650,000 barrel-per-day refinery, which began operations last year after a decade of construction, has been facing challenges, including difficulties in sourcing crude oil from international producers.

NNPC, which has a supply deal with the refinery, has only delivered 6.9 million barrels of oil since last year, forcing the refinery to seek alternative sources from countries like Brazil and the US.

Dangote has expressed frustration with the obstacles his refinery is facing, stating that he is ready to let go of the project if it will benefit the country.

“Let them (NNPCL) buy me out and run the refinery the best way they can. They have labelled me a monopolist. That’s an incorrect and unfair allegation, but it’s OK. If they buy me out, at least, their so-called monopolist would be out of the way,” Dangote said in a recent interview.

The interview was granted on Sunday to Premium Times.

Dangote, who has long dominated Nigeria’s cement, salt, and sugar industries, ventured into oil and gas, a move that has proven challenging.

The refinery cost $19 billion to build, more than double the initial estimate. It promises to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel and save up to 30% of the foreign exchange spent on imports.

It is understood that the refinery, set to release its first batch of petrol to the Nigerian market in August, has been operating at just over half its capacity due to difficulties in sourcing crude oil from international producers.

“As you probably know, I am 67 years old. In less than three years, I will be 70. I need very little to live the rest of my life. I can’t take the refinery or any other property or asset to my grave. Everything I do is in the interest of my country,” Dangote said.

“This refinery can help resolve the problem, but it seems some people are uncomfortable with me in the picture. So I am ready to let go, let the NNPC buy me out and run the refinery. At least the country will have high-quality products and create jobs,” he added.

Dangote’s decision comes after facing several obstacles, which he believes validate the caution advised by friends and associates when he invested billions into Nigeria’s economy.

“Four years ago, one of my very wealthy friends began to invest his money abroad. I disagreed with him and urged him to rethink his action in the interest of his country. He blamed his action on policy inconsistencies and interest groups. That friend has been taunting me in the past few days, saying he warned me and that he has been proven right,” Dangote said.

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Group, recently alleged that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is permitting the importation of substandard fuel into the country. In response, NMDPRA’s CEO, Farouk Ahmed, countered that diesel produced by Dangote’s refinery and other similar facilities, such as Waltersmith and Aradel, contains high levels of sulfur, potentially damaging vehicle engines and the environment.

However, during a recent tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Dangote Fertiliser Limited complex by members of the House of Representatives, Aliko Dangote disputed the regulator’s claims. Lab tests conducted during the tour revealed that Dangote’s diesel contains a mere 87.6 ppm of sulfur, significantly lower than the 1800 ppm and 2000 ppm found in imported samples. Dangote challenged the regulator to conduct an impartial comparison of the quality of his refinery’s products versus imported ones, advocating for a fair assessment to determine the best interests of Nigeria.

Also during the tour, Dangote announced that he would halt his investment in Nigeria’s steel industry to avoid accusations of monopoly.
