During a recent appearance, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon argued that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran was largely arranged to "save Israel."

According to Bannon, Israeli forces were becoming overwhelmed and were running out of defensive strategies. “They bit off more than they could chew,” he said, referring to the Israeli aggression.

Iran fired a barrage of more than 500 ballistic missiles and 1,000 drones over a 12-day span, pushing Israeli defences to their breaking point. “The Iron Dome was stretched to the limit. They couldn’t sustain the fight,” he added.

Around 31,000 buildings were damaged and 4,000 vehicles destroyed in Israel as a result of the war with Iran, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

Why was Rabin assassinated?

Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated because his assassin, Yigal Amir, vehemently opposed the Oslo Accords and believed Rabin was endangering Jewish lives by pursuing peace with the Palestinians.

Amir, a right-wing extremist, saw Rabin as a "pursuer" under Jewish law (din rodef) and felt justified in killing him to prevent further Israeli withdrawals from the West Bank.

The Iron Dome is not responsible for intercepting the ballistic missiles that Iran is launching at Israel, explained Travis Hawley, a national security analyst and former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer.

“The Iron Dome actually was not designed to intercept ballistic missiles,” he told ILTV. “The Iron Dome is designed for shorter-range rockets and mortars. Think of the weaponry that Hamas shoots towards the homeland. That is more the Iron Dome's responsibility. However, the Iron Dome can step in as sort of a last resort to help shoot down some of these ballistic missiles.”

To stop ballistic missiles, Israel relies on its Arrow systems—Arrow II and Arrow III. If those systems fail to intercept, the Iron Dome may serve as a backup.

So why are rockets getting through?

“It is somewhat of a failure of the entire integrated air defense system,” Hawley noted.

“But it's really hard to have a high degree of success or a perfect 100% when they're shooting salvos of 50 to 100 ballistic missiles at one time.”
