The report was presented by Biodun Olujimi (Ekiti South) on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, Oluremi Tinubu.

The bill seeks to establish a communication service which will be used to implement a nationwide system for the reporting of emergencies to emergency service agencies.

Part of the bill, she said, was amended to vest the Nigerian Communications Commission with the responsibility of formulating regulations and guidelines for the workings of the Nationwide Emergency Communications Service.

CrimeSurrendered Boko Haram Terrorists Urge Colleagues To Come Out by Alexandersantos(op): 7:08am On Sep 22, 2021
Some repentant Boko Haram terrorists have expressed regrets for taking up arms against the state, killing of fellow citizens and destruction of properties in the North-east.

They spoke during a media tour to one of the holding and screening facilities for the surrendered terrorists in Borno on Tuesday.

One of the repentant fighters, (name withheld), said he and other surrendered colleagues realised that their commanders lied to them on why they were recruited.

He added that they also realised that they could not continue to live in the bush and continue to run from military onslaught.

He said they would have surrendered a long time ago but for fear of being captured and killed by the military.

According to him, surrendering is the best thing to do, urging his colleagues who are yet to surrender to do so.

“We were afraid that we would be killed if we come out but it is not so because we were received without attacking us and we are also being treated humanely since we came out.

“I want to urge my colleagues who are still in the bush to come out and surrender because they will be accepted,” he said.

He disclosed that he had spent about six years fighting the war but later realised that they were not fighting any just cause

The Commander, 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama, Adewale Adekeye, said that thousands of Boko Haram fighters, their families and supporters had been received since July.

Mr Adekeye said the theatre command was aware of the fears and apprehension that the recent event had generated among the civilian populace in Borno and the nation at large.

He explained that surrendering was a normal practice in the annals of the history of warfare, saying it had been a time honoured event.

A middle-aged man, Samuel Omojola, has killed his father’s tenant in Akure, Ondo State over a dispute on outstanding rent.

The Guardian learnt the suspect, Omojola, hit the tenant with a plank on his head during a fight that ensued between his father and the tenant at his Oke Ijebu residence, Akure.

According to sources, the tenant allegedly insulted the suspect’s father over the rent, which resulted in an argument and escalated into a fight.

It was learnt that the landlord had called his son, who rushed home and hit the deceased with a plank on the head without knowing the cause of the disagreement.

On getting to know that the tenant had died in the brawl, some people in the neighbourhood rushed to the scene to set the house ablaze but timely intervention of homicide detectives from Ijapo Police Station saved the day.

The sources said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Ijapo Division drafted a team of detectives to arrest the suspect, which doused the tension and pacified the angry mob.
Efforts to get the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Funmi Odunlami, to react failed but a police officer hinted that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Akure, for further investigation.

TravelNigerians Can Now Travel Across 160 Countries Without Visa – Agency by Alexandersantos(op): 8:24am On Sep 11, 2021
Winnington Citizens & Partners, a visa processing and citizenship acquisition agency said on Friday that Nigerians “can travel to as many as 160 countries across the World without Visa requirements.”

Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mrs Winnie Okoh in an interview with newsmen, said the firms had packages that could ensure such visa-free travels for Nigerians.

She said that with only a “Strong Passport” Nigerians who wish to travel to Caribbean countries and parts of Europe would be provided with the opportunity.

Okoh, who unveiled the various packages available, said the firm could provide the opportunity for Nigerians to acquire second citizenship with ease.

She added that other opportunities available include business opportunities, education, and healthcare services in other countries.

Okoh said the firm is partnering with five countries in the Caribbean to market their citizenship through investment for those who want to acquire second citizenship.

Business opportunities abound in the Caribbean. I have heard of many people that have missed business opportunities because they were not granted visas.

“But with this passport, they could access the countries. Yours is just to buy a ticket and hop into the plane and avoid all the embassies problems.

“If you want to go to school abroad we can help you get admission and package you in a legal way. This citizenship will give you access to good healthcare and good education for the children.

“Once you get this passport, it passes from generation to generation. It does not terminate, except you are found wanting or found to be a criminal. With that passport, you can settle in the UK also and without visa,” she said.
According to the CEO, the passport can easily and automatically be renewed when it expires

She said the company “is out to impact the lives of Nigerians positively by providing access to such travel opportunities” that would hitherto been hampered or delayed by visa requirement.
SportsSouth Americans Cleared To Play In Premier League This Weekend In Boost For Live by Alexandersantos(op): 8:13am On Sep 11, 2021
Players from Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Mexico will all be able to play after doubts over their availability
Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea will be able to field their South American and Mexican international players in this weekend’s fixtures, Goal can confirm.

Following extensive talks with FIFA, the Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Mexico Football Associations have all agreed to waive their automatic five-day restriction, which would have prevented a number of stars from featuring in the latest round of domestic matches.

It means the likes of Liverpool duo Fabinho and Alisson Becker, Manchester City’s Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Manchester United midfielder Fred and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva are all free to play.
The dispute had erupted after Premier League clubs had decided unanimously to stop players from appearing for their country in the latest round of international fixtures if it meant travel to a red-list country, which would require a 10-day period of quarantine upon their return.

FIFA had unsuccessfully lobbied the UK government to allow quarantine exemptions for players returning from international duty, leading the Brazilian, Paraguayan, Chilean and Mexican federations to enforce the ‘five-day rule’, a FIFA directive which was designed to protect international teams from unnecessary, club-influenced withdrawals.

That would have meant the above players, as well as Leeds winger Raphinha, Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, Watford's Francisco Sierralta, Newcastle star Miguel Almiron and the Blackburn striker Ben Brereton would all have been unavailable for a five-day period following the conclusion of the international fixtures.

In this instance, that period would have covered September 10-14 and would have ruled both Fred and Thiago Silva out of their respective clubs’ first Champions League group matches, as well as this weekend’s Premier League games.
The news will come as a significant boost to the leading Premier League managers, who had voiced their concerns over the issue during their Friday press conferences.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, whose side visit Leeds on Sunday, had accused the federations of “punishing players” and called for a resolution with two more rounds of international fixtures scheduled before the end of the year.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Klopp’s Manchester United counterpart, labelled it a “lose-lose situation” and “a farce”, while Pep Guardiola of Manchester City admitted he “did not understand the situation” and called upon FIFA to do the right thing and allow the players to play.

They have done that, meaning the only clubs without international players this weekend will be Tottenham and Aston Villa, whose Argentine internationals - Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez - are isolating having flown to Brazil, a red-list country, for the World Cup qualifier in Sao Paolo, a game which was eventually abandoned.

SportsChelsea Have Their Dream Striker As Romelu Lukaku Eats Arsenal Defence For Break by Alexandersantos(op): 7:47pm On Aug 22, 2021
On his infamous debut back in August 2014, Diego Costa introduced himself as the forward Chelsea had dreamed of within 17 minutes at Turf Moor.

For Romelu Lukaku at The Emirates, he got his first slightly quicker in 15 minutes. But there was so much about this performance that reminded Chelsea supporters what they had been missing in attack since Costa departed in 2017.

His first touch – forever a main point of criticism during his time at Manchester United – was superb here. He kept our attacks flowing and had no issue playing with his back to goal, something he tirelessly worked to improve in his time under Antonio Conte in the San Siro.

He pretty simply had Pablo Mari for breakfast, almost grinning at his handy work as he threw the Arsenal defender away like an unwanted toy for the easy tap-in to open the scoring.

The dominance of this performance brought back visions of Didier Drogba terrorising Philippe Senderos in years past. Or the way Diego Costa toiled with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker evoking fury in Arsenal fans.

Apart from the historical significance against the North London club, what this afternoon showed was the potential Lukaku brings to Thomas Tuchel’s attack.

There was a maturity to the rest of the team and confidence in their front man’s ability to win his duels, it was up to them to provide the service and he’d do the rest.

Reece James crosses have become a big point of frustration for the Chelsea faithful in recent seasons. Not for their quality, but for the fact no one has been capitalising on them. Although James assist for Lukaku was a simple pass across the box, it demonstrated the strong connection to the two could have at Stamford Bridge.

Throughout the game Lukaku was available to be found. It gave a swift edge to Chelsea’s build up that prevented a slower side-to-side game that we have been guilty of. A sharp pass into Lukaku’s feet instantly brought our moves to life. It also evoked an audible nervous groan from the home crowd, as they sensed danger with Lukaku lurking.

Tuchel can now look to try a variety of attacking trios with the 28-year-old. At The Emirates it looked like a spilt striker system with Mason Mount playing deeper to Lukaku and Kai Havertz. Reece James provided extra width on the right.

Is has already been pondered by fans whether Timo Werner could play the Lautaro Martínez role which worked so wonderfully alongside Lukaku at Inter. Hakim Ziyech was brilliant over pre-season and his wand of a left foot could provide the new No.9 with presentable opportunities.

Lukaku passed his first test with flying colours. And should we be surprised? This is a forward who scored 113 goals in 252 appearances in his first Premier League spell. Since moving to Serie A he has found the net 64 times in 95 appearances.

He has already outdone Costa’s intro and in one-go become Arsenal’s new nemesis. If Lukaku continues in the same vein as Chelsea’s previous two best forwards, the sky’s the limit for Tuchel’s side.
SportsThe News About Barça And President Asking Me For A 30% Salary Reduction Is Fake" by Alexandersantos(op): 1:16pm On Aug 08, 2021
Earlier today Lionel Messi had a press conference to bid farewell to Barcelona, its staff, supporters and players after 21 years with the club.

Barcelona on Thursday announced that the club will no longer be moving forward with their Captain due to economic and financial situations.

This statement was made by Barcelona President Joan Laporta, on the eve of the meeting scheduled for the finalizing of the contract between the club and Messi according to reports.

According to multiple sources, the contract was to see Lionel Messi stay at Barcelona until June 2026 after he agreed to a 50% pay cut in his salary.

However, during the press conference today, Messi described the news that said he didn't accept a 30 % salary deduction presented to him by Laporta as 'fake' according to Sports analyst; Fabrizio Romano

He said: " The news about Barça and Laporta asking me for a 30% salary reduction on Thursday is absolutely fake. It's a lie. I offered to reduce my contract by 50% and they didn't ask me for anything else".

From the information gathered during the Press Conference, it is therefore wise to say that the reason behind Messi contract collapse as reported by the Club is not the actual truth.
SportsTokyo Olympics: Team Nigeria Bleeds As Adekuoroye Loses by Alexandersantos(op): 11:38am On Aug 04, 2021
Odunayo Adekuoroye was Team Nigeria’s hope and face at the Tokyo Olympics. She was so good that she was described as good as gold. Nigerians looked eagerly to her fight with high hopes.

But the unexpected happened yesterday as Adekuoroye was beaten flatly through a pinfall after romping to an 8-0 lead by Moldova’s Nichita Anastasia. How are the mighty fallen!

The venue became quiet like a graveyard. Sports Minister clasped his hands on his head. Daniel Igali was shell-shocked. Solomon Ogba was confused and kept asking; “what happened? She was leading 8-0”. AFN President Tony Okowa, NOC President Habu Gumel and Scribe Banji Oladapo. They were all stung. Tears welled on the eyes of Igali. Other international officials mourned.

She( Adekuoroye) had beaten this same girl in all their previous meetings. She beats her mercilessly by 10-0, 10-0, 10-0 in all their fights. This is unbelievable”, he said still stuck on his seat as Sports Minister Dare and Ogba offered him help.
The zone was clear for her to go straight to the final. The tough fighters she beats were not on her zone”, Igali lamented.

Looking at a possible technical aspect that could still offer Adekuoroye the chance of survival, Igali shook his head and foreclosed any hope.

This Moldovan is not good and cannot get to the final to offer such hope for the Nigerian.

And true to his words, Adekuoroye,s conqueror was dismissed in her next fight 6-3 by a Bulgarian thereby extinguishing any ray of hope for Adekuoroye.

The shock was tremendous and the deafening silence that descended on the hall showed that a calamity had happened.
