Adverts › Omobachilay Lights Up New Knorr’s Smokey Jollof Campaign by Amberly01(op): 4:22pm On Sep 30
There is something magnetic about the moment a familiar face steps into a campaign that already feels like home. Knorr’s new Smokey Jollof advert, starring Sile Sotuminu, does exactly that. It does not just sell a seasoning, It sells a feeling. The rich, slightly charred, party-ready aroma of jollof that Nigerians chase from one celebration to the next.

Knorr launched its Smokey Party Jollof Seasoning earlier this year at the Lagos edition of Knorr Jollof Fest 2026, positioning the product as the closest thing to professional party jollof that home cooks can recreate without firewood or industrial-scale pots. The seasoning draws on insights from experienced caterers and chefs, blending sundried tomatoes, thyme, bay leaves and a carefully balanced mix designed to deliver that signature smoky depth.

Casting Sile Sotuminu as the face of the campaign was a smart, culturally fluent move. Sile has built an acting, content creating, media and publicity career defined by consistency, presence and the rare ability to move fluidly across different worlds. His work has taken him through modeling, entertainment, lifestyle, brand partnerships and public-facing storytelling. What stands out is not just visibility, but reach. His influence stretches across industries and demographics. From creative circles to everyday audiences in different parts of the country. That kind of cross-cutting appeal is exactly what a product like Knorr Smokey Jollof needs. Party jollof is not owned by one tribe, one city or one generation. It belongs to weddings in Lagos, outdoor parties in the South-East, family gatherings in the North and every pot that brings people together. Sile’s ability to speak to diverse groups makes him a natural bridge between the brand and the many kitchens it hopes to enter.

The advert also marks a clear win for the Omobachilay brand. Pairing a personality with proven media instincts and broad public goodwill with a major seasoning house like Knorr elevates both sides. For Knorr, it adds authenticity and contemporary energy to a product rooted in tradition. For Omobachilay, it places the brand in the same conversation as one of Nigeria’s most recognised name, reinforcing credibility and expanding its footprint.

Omobachilay’s previous modeling, advertising and collaborative projects have shown a pattern of steady growth. Earlier campaigns and partnerships helped the brand refine its visual language, tighten its messaging and build stronger emotional connections with audiences. Each project appeared to teach something, sharper storytelling, better alignment with the values of partner brands, and a clearer sense of how to turn presence into lasting impression. The Knorr Smokey Jollof advert feels like the natural next step, bigger platform, tighter cultural fit, and a product that already carries deep emotional weight for millions of Nigerians.

What makes the campaign interesting is how cleanly the pieces fit. Knorr wants to own the “party jollof at home” moment. Sile brings relatability and wide-reaching influence. Omobachilay brings a track record of collaborative growth and brand-building discipline. Together they create an advert that feels less like a hard sell and more like an invitation. To cook, to share, and to chase that smoky, celebration-ready flavour without leaving the kitchen.

In a market where seasoning brands compete not only on taste but on cultural resonance, this pairing stands out. It is commercial, yes. But it is also personal. And that is often where the best flavour lives.

Foreign Affairs › ‘women’s Voices Will Be Heard’ - Akosua Manu Speaks After Protest by Amberly01(op): 12:08pm On Sep 30
ACCRA, Ghana — Akosua Asaa Manu, Advisor on Gender and Social Protection to the NPP flagbearer and one of the conveners of the Women’s Voices Matter demonstration, has declared that Ghanaian women will continue to make their voices heard, following Tuesday’s protest in Accra over women’s rights, freedom of expression, economic opportunities and the detention of Salomey Awiti Bafoh.

Reflecting on the demonstration in a Facebook post, Manu said attempts to dismiss or diminish women’s voices would not erase their significance in Ghana’s national conversation.

“They may call our voices shrill, low, uninteresting, and many other names… but they shall never be able to say that women’s voices are dead or that they do not matter,” she wrote.

The demonstration, held on September 29, brought together women from different walks of life, including traders, professionals, artisans and younger women. Participants marched through parts of Accra before presenting a petition to the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey. Women associated with different political parties also participated in the protest.

According to Manu, the diversity of women who participated sent what she described as an unmistakable message to the government and its institutions.

“Today, women from all walks of life; mothers, traders, Gen Zs, professionals, and artisans stand united to send an unmistakable message to the government and its institutions: Enough with the abductions. Enough with selective justice. Women deserve economic opportunities, not onerous bail terms. The Affirmative Action law deserves implementation, not civil suppression,” she stated.

According to Lagos News Hub, the demonstration came amid public debate over the detention of Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a nursing officer accused of abetting the publication and dissemination of false news linked to the social-media personality known as “Ghana Jollof.” An Accra High Court denied Bafoh bail, citing ongoing investigations and concerns that she could interfere with cyber-related materials. The court also directed the police to expedite their investigation and said she could renew her bail application if circumstances changed.

Manu, however, said the #FreeSalomey campaign had come to represent a broader demand by participating women for accountability and dignity.

“#FreeSalomey is not just a slogan; it is the collective rallying cry of women demanding accountability and dignity,” she wrote.

The organisers have also placed economic empowerment, freedom of expression and implementation of Ghana’s Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act among their stated demands. Ahead of the march, the movement called for increased opportunities for women in business and employment, alongside greater representation and participation in decision-making.

“The time for the government to listen is now,” Manu added. “Yesterday, women showed up. Mothers. Traders. Professionals. Gen Zs. Women from all walks of life. Different voices. One message: Women’s voices matter. WE WILL BE HEARD.”

Veteran broadcaster, entertainer and actor Adesege Adeniji, popularly known as WestyBaba, has joined 93.5 AREA FM as its lead on-air personality as the new Lagos radio station prepares to officially hit the airwaves from October 1, 2026.

A familiar voice to Lagos audiences, WestyBaba has built a career spanning radio, television, comedy, entertainment production and film. His personality, humour and ability to connect naturally with audiences are expected to play a central role in establishing the sound and character of the new station.

“Area FM has been created to have its own personality, attitude and connection with Lagos, and WestyBaba represents so much of that energy. He understands radio, he understands entertainment and, importantly, he understands Lagos. Having him lead our on-air team while also taking on the wider responsibility of GM, Head of Radio at Cardinal Broadcasting gives us someone who understands both the creative and operational sides of the business. His creative career has also extended to Nollywood, with appearances in productions including Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper, Malaika, Makemation, Finding Messiah and the epic drama Ireke, where he played the character Johnson.

Reacting to his new role, WestyBaba said the move represents an opportunity to bring together the different sides of his career while helping build a fresh radio experience for Lagos.

“Radio has always been a major part of my journey, so being part of AREA FM from the very beginning is special. We are building a new radio culture, driven by a team with its own unique energy. Lagos has plenty to say, plenty to laugh about and countless stories to tell, and from October 1, we want AREA FM to become one of the places where those conversations happen every day. I’m equally excited about the opportunity to build on City FM’s established position as one of the leading urban voices in Lagos radio. With the teams we have across both stations, I can confidently say there are exciting times ahead.”

With the launch of 93.5 Area FM, Cardinal Broadcasting Limited expands its radio portfolio alongside City FM, with the two stations positioned as distinct brands serving different audience experiences.

The Forum of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Parastatals has formally appointed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, as its Patron.

The conferment was made during a courtesy visit by members of the Forum to the SGF in Abuja, where the Forum conveyed its unanimous decision to bestow the honour on Senator Akume, in recognition of his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and significant contributions to the coordination and effective functioning of government institutions.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, who is Director General, National Board of Technology Incubation (NBTI), stated that the appointment was informed by the SGF's institutional stewardship, wisdom, experience and commitment to coordinating the machinery of government that have contributed significantly to the stability, coherence and effectiveness of the current administration.

“We recognize the enormous responsibility you carry at the centre of government, and we appreciate the diligence, discretion and statesmanship with which you continue to support the President and advance the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“It is against this background that the Forum has taken the collective decision to respectfully confer on Your Excellency, the distinguished position of Patron of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals".

The Forum further disclosed that it is determined to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gets no fewer than 10 million votes in his second term bid.

In his response, Senator Akume expressed profound appreciation to the Forum for the honour bestowed upon him. He described the appointment as both a privilege and a call to greater service, assuring members of his continued support towards strengthening inter-agency cooperation and enhancing the efficiency of public institutions.

Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Mrs. Augusta Bekereadebo Warrens, Akume commended the Forum, stating that the Office to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will provide the necessary support required to achieve the goal.

“I would like to commend the Forum of CEO’s of Federal Parastatals for your contribution in pushing, promoting, and pursuing the agenda of Mr. President’s Renewal Hope Agenda in their various domain. However, I believe there is more work that needs to be done”.

“I would like to add that in your various constituencies where your power is operating; where people can get to be aware of this, one thing I have observed in the policy right now is that there is a lot of disinformation. So, I would like to propose that in your various domains, you should try as much as possible to promote the achievements of Mr. President”.

The 20-man delegation expressed the Forum's willingness to support their principal, who according to the Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, has given them the unique opportunity to serve the nation.

He maintained that the CEO's remain the actual executors and implementers of government policies and therefore are the real work engine of the administration.

Shortly before the decision that the SGF be represented, he was decorated with the insignia as patron of the group.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Forum to outline its political engagement objective ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election, stating its intention to support the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, through lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based campaign and dialogue with citizens, including communicating the policies, programmes and achievements of the administration and providing channels for citizens’ concerns and feedback.

Agriculture › ARN Foods Acquires Multi-billion-naira 120mt/day Rice Mill In Abuja by Amberly01(op): 11:06am On Sep 24
A.R.N. Foods Limited, a Nigerian agricultural commodities trading and processing company, has expanded its operations with the acquisition of a multi-billion-naira 120 metric tonnes per day rice milling facility in Abuja.

A statement by the company on Tuesday said production had commenced at the facility, located on a 20,000-square-metre plot of land, with capacity to process up to 3,000 bags of rice daily.

The acquisition is part of ARN Foods’ efforts to increase its processing capacity and contribute to Nigeria’s food security.

The expansion complements the company’s ultra-modern rice mill being developed in Epe, Lagos, which is more than 90 per cent complete and expected to be launched in December 2026.

Speaking on the acquisition, Nola Adetola, Chairman, Board of Directors, ARN Foods, said the investment would help the company build capacity, provide consumers with quality rice at affordable prices and support food security.

“We are glad to announce that production has started at our new Abuja facility. Our customers can expect greater access to high-quality rice at an affordable price. That is what we are known for; giving people access to good-quality food without making it unnecessarily expensive.

“As a company, our mission goes beyond selling rice. We want to contribute meaningfully to food security in Nigeria and across Africa,” Adetola said.

The Lagos mill, being developed on a 22,000-square-metre site, will also process up to 3,000 bags of rice daily, bringing ARN Foods’ combined production capacity in Abuja and Lagos to 6,000 bags per day.

The company has also established a distribution centre in Sagamu to improve access to ARN Rice across different locations.

ARN Foods’ operations span commodity trading, agricultural sourcing and processing, covering key commodities including rice, maize, sorghum, soybeans and sesame.

This second edition is about taking that experience to another level,” Charles says. “I have a new album, more music and an incredible lineup of artists joining me. Florence showed us so much love last time, and this year we are coming back with even more energy. We are going to give the people a night to remember.”

Politics › Why Is Karl Von Batten Hiding Under His Bed? - Chief Femi Fani-kayode Writes by Amberly01(op): 12:10pm On Sep 22
Ikemefuna Okeke, Karl Von Batten, Karl Marx, George Edward, Karl M.E. Okeke or whichever of your numerous names that you choose to call yourself this week, consider the following.

You said our President was SMUGGLING drugs into America: this is false. Prove it.

You said our President was INDICTED for smuggling drugs in America: this is false. Prove it.

You said our President was CONVICTED for drug smuggling in America: this is false. Prove it.

In 2003 Michael H. Bonner of the American Consulate in Nigeria wrote Inspector General of Police Tafa Balogun that an FBI NCIC check on Tinubu was “negative for any criminal arrest records, wants, or warrants.”

That is incompatible with the claim that he was arrested, wanted or convicted in America for drug smuggling.

If you have an indictment or a conviction, produce the instrument.

Circulating a paid brief from Atiku’s lobbyist does not turn a 1993 civil forfeiture into a criminal verdict.

You insist on peddling the falsehood and perpetuating the lie that President Tinubu was a drug smuggler after being paid to do so by Waziri Abubakar Atiku.

A paid brief can circulate a civil file: it cannot manufacture an indictment or a conviction that the 2003 NCIC check said was not there.

In continuation of a widely published essay I wrote about you on 8th September titled 'Who is Karl Ikemefuna Von Batten and What is He Hiding?' permit me to share a few more home truths with you in this contribution.

You are an inconsequential figure who is not known or recognised in notable circles anywhere in the world, including your adopted nation America.

If there was ever a "Mr. Nobody" it is you yet you try so hard to give the impression that the contrary is the case.

You give the false impression that you are an upstanding and credible individual yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Consider your wife whose original name was Kathy Grier which, for reasons best known to herself, she changed to Liz Blazevich.

A few years later she once again changed her name from Liz Blazevich to Elizabeth Von Batten in an attempt to hide her past and give the false impression that she has German ancestry.

Your name was Ikemefuna Okeke which is an Igbo name and which confirms your Nigerian ancestry.

You adopted the same modus operandi as your wife and changed it to 'Karl Von Batten' in an attempt to hide your past and give the false impression that you are married to a woman with German with ancestry.

There is nothing wrong with changing names but in your case you did so in an attempt to deceive others and cover up numerous sordid events from your past and to hide the fact that you were the subject of an indictment and a criminal conviction by an American court in 2003.

The greatest irony of it all is that a convict and certified criminal like you who uses no less than 9 different names and who falsely claims that he graduated from at least 5 different Universities, none of which there is any record to prove that he attended, is accusing others of corruption and of being drug smugglers and criminals.

Again you insist on introducing yourself as 'Dr.' when there is no record of you earning a doctorate degree from any University in the world or of being a medical practitioner.

Yours is indeed a case study of subterfuge, hypocrisy, criminality and deceit.

You are as dodgy as a second hand car salesman and as crooked as the proverbial 'fence' that are used by common criminals.

I do not have much time for you but permit me to share the following words with you before closing your chapter and moving on.

The greatest honour you have ever attained in your life and that you are ever likely to attain is to have been acknowledged by me.

You lack the relevance or seriousness to attract any significant attention from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Your rants on social media are invisible to most of us whilst the few that have noticed you, like me, consider you to be nothing more than a mild irritation and oftentimes a source of light entertainment.

Your lamentations about an old 1993 civil forfeiture case involving bank accounts which belonged to President Tinubu is simply an attempt to justify the extortion you have subjected your client, Atiku, to.

He has paid you 1.2 million USD to diminish, discredit and destroy President Tinubu and evidently you want to collect more.

How you managed to fool him I don't know because the old Atiku that I knew 23 years ago when we served in the same Government under President Olusegun Obasanjo was as sharp as nails and would have seen through you and saw you for what you are within seconds.

I guess times have changed and he has changed with them.

Whatever the case he made his choice even though the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project
matter in which his former wife, Madame Jennifer Douglas Abubakar, was given 500,000 USD by my old friend Laitan Adesanya in what was allegedly a brazen bribe in return for a favour from him proves that he has some questions to answer.

Most importantly his commissioning of a criminal like you to do what is essentially a hatchet job on the President of his country and a man that was once his dear friend reflects badly on his judgement which is clearly not what it once used to be.

I close with the following.

It has been brought to my attention that you have publicly alleged that I want to either murder you or kidnap you.

Your so-called 'evidence' is a tweet that I posted on X on September 20th which, since you saw it, has caused you to hide under your bed in trepidation and resulted in you walking around with your knickers in a twist.

I urge all those that are interested to read the tweet themselves and consider whether it constitutes a threat to your life and liberty.

Given the fact that you are barely educated and not entirely literate I accept that your English or understanding of the English language may not be that good but by any stretch of the imagination your interpretation and understanding of what I posted is well off the mark.

For the record nobody is interested in "killing" or "kidnapping" you as you and your fake company have alleged on X so stop bleating like a spineless quisling and screaming like a gutted pig: it is pathetic.

I am not in the business of killing people or of kidnapping them but I am in the business of exposing liars and fraudsters who have dedicated their lives to smearing the President and Government that I serve and the country from which I proudly come.

I operate within the law and fully intend to continue to do so and I will engage you on all fronts as long as I choose.

You can go and report that to the Pope or anyone else if it makes you feel better and be rest assured that I couldn't care less.

You, like everyone else, are accountable before the law and this is especially so when you violate our Cybercrime Act and use social media to spread defamatory lies and falsehood about our Government, leaders and people.

Other than to report you to the relevant security agencies in our country for your continued infractions I wish you no harm and if you have done no wrong you surely have nothing to fear from our courts or our justice system.

Being American does not confer on you the right to violate our laws and neither can you silence or intimidate me with your threats and puerile hogwash.

Ours is a democratically-elected Government and a great nation that is governed and guided by laws and not driven by threats and thuggery.

There is no conspiracy or plot to abduct or kill you here and such thoughts and concerns are a figment of your wild and fanciful imagination and a consequence of the misplaced delusion that you are of any consequence or importance.

Your mind has evidently been befuddled by the wild conspiracy theories which brew and hatch within it and which have affected your thought processes.

No matter what the strange voices in your head and your delusions of grandeur lead you to believe take your medication and kindly remember that you are not James Bond but just a Washington-based lobbyist who is given to name-dropping and who spends his time threatening and insulting every Nigerian that disagrees with or opposes him on social media.

The irony is that you are the predator and not the victim. You cast aspertions on the character of others, insult and criminalise them, provoke them into a row and when they respond and question your motives and credentials you start crying like a little child.

You are nothing but a school yard bully who is incapable of taking what he delights in dishing out to others.

You hide under the cover of some shady firm and dare to threaten every Nigerian that questions you and responds to your slanderous provocations on X with court cases in America and reports to the American Congress, the American Senate, the American State Department, President Donald Trump and the FBI after goading and daring them into a fight after which you present yourself as the innocent victim.

Kindly take note that you are not the only one with access to courts, lawyers and the institutions of state and understand that you are dealing with a man that comes from 5 generations of Oxbridge-level University graduates and 3 generations of Cambridge University-trained lawyers.

When my great grandfather studied theology and graduated with a Masters degree from Durham University in 1893, became an Anglican priest and took Christianity to my hometown Ile-Ife in 1897 yours were wearing grass skirts in the jungle and pouring libations at the shrine.

You cannot intimidate me with anyone or anything and my fear is reserved for God alone. Know this and know peace.

As long as you tell lies I, and any other Nigerian that has your time, have every right to respond to you in a lawful manner and I will do so whenever and however I deem fit.

Unlike you, I am proud of my nation and my heritage, I do not suffer from low self-esteem, I do not have a chip on my shoulder, I do not run from a fight and I do not bow and tremble before foreigners.

I wish you the very best.

Lest I forget please send my best regards to your husband Mrs. Elizabeth Von Batten and assure her of my highest regards.

Shalom.

Politics › Lagos 2027: Sonayon-james Puts Youth, Women Inclusion At Centre Of APC Ticket by Amberly01(op): 12:31pm On Sep 21
Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, has described the party's 2027 ticket as an opportunity to deepen youth participation and women's representation in governance, saying younger Nigerians must increasingly be given meaningful responsibilities within the political system.

Sonayon-James spoke at a Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos campaign event this week, where she joined party leaders and supporters as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum. Her emergence as running mate to APC governorship candidate and incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, has itself attracted attention because of the generational and gender representation of the ticket. At 42 by May 2027, she would, if elected, become the youngest deputy governor in Lagos since the state's creation in 1967.

“This is our mandate, it is our time, it is the time for the youth, and APC has given us what we need to deliver on this mandate,” Sonayon-James said, using her nomination as evidence of greater space being created for younger politicians within the party.

According to a report for Lagos News Hub, she also placed women's participation at the centre of her remarks, arguing that increased representation of women in politics remains important to the country's political development. According to her, the combination of being a young person and a woman on a major governorship ticket demonstrates the kind of inclusion she believes should become more visible in Nigerian politics.

“This is an administration that allows the youth to thrive, and women inclusion in politics is something that is dear to the heart of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said.

Sonayon-James also spoke about the experience she believes Hamzat brings to the APC ticket, describing the governorship candidate as a community-oriented politician with experience and an understanding of Lagos and its institutions.

“Kadiri is a man who is committed to things that glorify God. He is a man with experience and integrity, he understands the job and he is a community man to the core,” she said.

Sonayon-James went on to say she looked forward to working with and learning from Hamzat, whose public-service career in Lagos has included service as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and, since 2019, Deputy Governor.

“I am happy that I will be working with and learning from a man who has decades of experience and understanding of Lagos State,” she added.

Hamzat emerged as the Lagos APC governorship candidate in May after the party's primary election, while Sonayon-James was formally presented as his running mate the following month. Her selection was described by the Lagos APC leadership at the time in terms that included competence, leadership capacity, grassroots acceptance and party loyalty.

Music/Radio › City Fm’s Bolanle Peps Bags 2026 NBMA Best Radio Presenter/programme Nomination by Amberly01(op): 1:09pm On Sep 16
City 105.1FM Lagos presenter Bolanle Peps has earned a major industry recognition as her popular weekday afternoon show, The Run Down, receives a nomination in the Best Radio Presenter/Programme category at the 2026 Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA), further establishing the presenter and programme among the notable voices and shows making an impact on contemporary Nigerian radio.

The recognition places Bolanle and The Run Down among the broadcasting talents and programmes being celebrated by the NBMA in 2026, a year in which the awards feature more than 85 categories spanning on-air presentation, programming, technical production, digital innovation and community impact.

As principal host of The Run Down, which airs Monday to Friday from 2pm to 5pm on City 105.1FM Lagos, Bolanle has developed a distinctive broadcasting style built around intelligent conversation, humour, curiosity and relatability. The afternoon programme traverses entertainment, lifestyle, current affairs, pop culture and everyday conversations, combining topical discussions with interactive games, audience participation and celebrity interviews.

Her strength, however, extends beyond her delivery behind the microphone. According to Lagos News Hub, Bolanle is actively involved in the creative development and production of her content, helping to conceptualise segments and shape conversations designed to encourage listeners to become active participants in the programme rather than passive audiences.

That approach has helped The Run Down establish an identity as an afternoon programme where information and personality comfortably coexist. Bolanle's ability to move seamlessly between serious subjects and lighter entertainment has also become an important part of her on-air personality; polished without being distant, conversational without losing substance, and playful while maintaining the sophistication required of contemporary radio.

Beyond radio presentation and production, Bolanle has developed experience across voice-over work, interviews, event conversations, branded content and audience engagement, establishing herself as a versatile media and communications professional capable of adapting her voice and presentation style across different platforms.

The Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards returned for its seventh edition in 2026 with a renewed focus on celebrating excellence across Nigeria's evolving broadcasting landscape. The awards have historically recognised some of the country's prominent radio and television personalities, programmes and media organisations.

Politics › Forum Of Ceos Of Federal Parastatals Pledges 10 Million Votes For President Bola by Amberly01(op): 9:01pm On Sep 09
.....“We Have Seen the Renewed Hope. We Are Ready to Take the Message to Every Ward in Nigeria.”

The Forum of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Parastatals and Agencies in Nigeria has declared its unequivocal support for the re-election bid of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and has pledged to mobilise and deliver an estimated 10 million votes in support of his bid for a second term.

The declaration was made against the backdrop of the Forum’s conviction that President Tinubu’s leadership, courage, reforms and commitment to national development deserve not only recognition but also the collective support of Nigerians who have witnessed the impact and direction of his administration.

The Forum believes that its members occupy a unique position to assess the performance of the Federal Government, having the responsibility of implementing policies, programmes and initiatives across the length and breadth of the country.

“We are not merely observers of government; we are practical actors in the implementation of government policies and programmes. We are on the field, across the states and communities, and therefore uniquely positioned to assess the impact of government. From what we have seen and experienced, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated exceptional courage, determination and commitment to repositioning Nigeria.

“It is therefore time for us to boldly tell the Nigerian story from our own vantage point, to highlight the achievements of this administration and to proclaim the progress being made under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”

The Forum commended President Tinubu for his bold and transformative leadership, particularly his willingness to take difficult decisions in the national interest and pursue reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy, institutions and long-term development prospects.

It also expressed profound appreciation to Mr. President for the confidence he has reposed in the members of the Forum through their appointments as Chief Executive Officers of various Federal Government agencies and parastatals.

The Forum described the appointments as not merely positions of responsibility, but a solemn charge to serve the Nigerian people, advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of the nation.

The Forum further emphasised that its strength lies in its wide geographical spread and institutional presence across Nigeria. With over 400 CEOs and senior leaders drawn from Federal Government agencies and parastatals, members have extensive networks and connections across the 36 States of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory, Local Government Areas and communities nationwide.

Consequently, members of the Forum have resolved to deploy their networks, grassroots relationships and community presence in support of the President’s re-election, with a particular focus on reaching the wards and communities where the impact of government policies is ultimately felt by citizens.

The Forum is determined to make a historic contribution to the 2027 electoral process by ensuring that its support for President Tinubu translates into visible, organised and measurable grassroots mobilisation.

Members have therefore been encouraged to take ownership of mobilisation within their respective areas of influence, engage constructively with citizens, communicate the achievements and vision of the administration, and contribute meaningfully to the President’s re-election campaign.

At the same time, the Forum recognises that the success of any political campaign requires coordination and unity of purpose. It has consequently expressed its readiness to work harmoniously with the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and other relevant campaign structures, ensuring that its mobilisation efforts are properly aligned with the overall strategy and direction of the campaign.

The Forum believes that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid presents an opportunity to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda, deepen ongoing reforms and sustain the momentum towards a stronger, more prosperous and more globally competitive Nigeria.

Accordingly, the Forum calls on its members and all Nigerians who share this vision to unite in support of the President and contribute to the emergence of a Nigeria that is more economically resilient, technologically innovative, institutionally stronger and socially prosperous.

The message from the Forum is clear: we have witnessed the journey, we have participated in the implementation, and we are prepared to take the message of Renewed Hope from the corridors of government to the grassroots.

Ten million votes is not merely a number; it is a declaration of confidence, commitment and collective responsibility towards the continuation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Music/Radio › Lady Doja Allen’s Cardinal Media Academy Celebrates 10 Years Of Excellence by Amberly01(op): 1:17pm On Sep 08
Cardinal Media Academy (CMA) formerly called ‘City Media Academy’, the media training initiative established under the leadership of Lady Doja Allen, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, operators of City FM and Area FM, is celebrating a decade of nurturing and developing the next generation of Nigerian media professionals.

Over the past 10 years, Cardinal Media Academy has trained well over 1,000 students, providing aspiring broadcasters and media professionals with practical knowledge and industry exposure designed to prepare them for careers in radio and the wider media industry.

Established with a strong emphasis on combining classroom learning with practical studio experience, CMA has developed a training model that goes beyond conventional media education. Participants undergo intensive classroom lectures before moving into a one-week studio practical programme, where they get the opportunity to experience the realities of live broadcasting.

As part of the studio component, participants are given the opportunity to host live radio programmes, operate within a professional broadcast environment and gain hands-on experience with studio equipment and production processes.

The academy's curriculum and practical approach have been strengthened over the years by an impressive line-up of experienced media professionals who have served as facilitators, including Shola Thompson, Titi Oyinsan, Oludolapo Adewale, Oscar Oyinsan, Nyamgul Agaji, Tope Aghomatse, Mazino Appeal, Chukwuma Aligwekwe and Charles Ezerime, among others.

Their participation has enabled CMA students to learn directly from professionals with practical experience across broadcasting, presentation, production and other areas of the media industry.

For many participants, the experience provides their first opportunity to step behind a professional microphone and experience what it takes to host a live radio programme.

The programme is designed to give students not only knowledge, but also the confidence and practical understanding required to begin pursuing opportunities within the media industry.

Another distinctive element of Cardinal Media Academy is its deliberate connection between training and employment opportunities. At the conclusion of each training programme, one exceptional student is selected for employment at City FM, providing a direct pathway from the classroom into the professional broadcasting environment.

Other participants are given the opportunity to intern at City FM for one month, allowing them to further develop their skills and gain valuable industry experience.

The model creates a practical bridge between education and employment, giving young people an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a real-world media environment.

For Lady Doja Allen, the success of Cardinal Media Academy represents an important part of the broader vision not only to operate a successful radio station but also to contribute to the development of Nigeria's media talent pipeline.

Over the last decade, hundreds of young people have passed through the academy, with many gaining their first exposure to professional broadcasting through its programmes.

As City Media Academy marks this remarkable 10-year milestone, congratulations are in order for Lady Doja Allen, the management and staff of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, the dedicated facilitators and, most importantly, the hundreds of young talents whose journeys into the media industry have been shaped by the academy. A decade of training, mentorship and practical opportunity is an achievement worthy of celebration. As CMA looks ahead to the future, there is little doubt that its commitment to discovering, nurturing and empowering the next generation of Nigerian media professionals will remain an important part of its enduring legacy.

Politics › Road To 2027: Tinubu And His Army Of Experienced Spokesmen by Amberly01(op): 11:26am On Sep 08
As Nigeria inches toward the 2027 general elections, one feature of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration deserves closer examination: the depth and diversity of the political communicators and spokesmen who have defended, explained and, at times, aggressively sold the administration's narrative to the public.

President Tinubu was inaugurated on May 29, 2023, meaning that; as of now, his administration has been in office for just over three years. In that period, the Presidency has solidified a communications ecosystem that is considerably broader than the conventional image of a president and a single spokesman. It includes ministers who double as political defenders, presidential aides, veteran journalists, former legislators, public affairs commentators and party operatives.

However; the more revealing question is: who has been most effective at shaping political conversations, defending the administration under pressure and keeping President Tinubu's agenda at the centre of public debate?

On that broader measure, a provisional ranking places Festus Keyamo, Bayo Onanuga and Otunba Biodun Ajiboye among the most consequential voices associated with the Tinubu project since 2023.

Festus Keyamo sits at the top of the list because of his unusual combination of political combativeness, legal training and media experience. Long before becoming Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Keyamo had established himself as one of the APC's most aggressive public defenders. During the 2023 presidential campaign, he regularly confronted opposition narratives on television and social media, including controversies surrounding Tinubu's background and the U.S. forfeiture case.

Keyamo's importance lies partly in his willingness to engage adversaries directly rather than confine himself to bureaucratic language. He has therefore operated not merely as a government official but as one of the administration's most recognisable political combatants.

Bayo Onanuga represents a different model of communication. A veteran journalist and former media director of the APC presidential campaign, Onanuga brings institutional experience to the Presidency's information machinery. Tinubu appointed him Special Adviser on Information and Strategy in October 2023, giving him the responsibility for a critical part of the administration's public messaging architecture.

His significance has grown alongside the administration's most difficult policy conversations. Fuel-subsidy removal, exchange-rate reform, inflation, electricity pricing and the broader restructuring of Nigeria's economy have all required sustained political explanation. The reforms have also generated substantial public controversy, with Reuters reporting that subsidy removal and currency reforms contributed to severe cost-of-living pressures even as the government presented them as necessary economic restructuring.

Onanuga's role, therefore, has been less about generating spectacular television moments and more about maintaining the administration's argument over time.

Otunba Biodun Ajiboye: Though he does not occupy the same formal communications position as Onanuga or the former presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelal, yet his impact in the political-media space has been extremely remarkable.

As Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation and an APC chieftain, Ajiboye has repeatedly entered high-profile television debates on the administration's economic performance, opposition politics, federal-state relations and the 2027 political environment.

In May 2025, he appeared on ARISE News to argue that Nigeria was not becoming a one-party state and blamed the opposition for failing to provide a credible alternative. Two months later, he was again on the platform defending the Tinubu administration's relationship with state governments and describing Tinubu as one of Nigeria's most practical presidents.

His appearances continued into 2026. In January, Ajiboye argued that Nigeria's economic problems predated the Tinubu administration and defended the necessity of the government's reforms. In June, he again defended Tinubu's record, arguing that the administration was addressing problems previous governments had left unresolved.

More recently, his appearances have increasingly moved directly into the political conversation surrounding 2027. That makes Ajiboye an interesting case in measuring media impact against formal political office. He may not possess the institutional machinery of the Presidency, but his viral media appearances frequently generate arguments, counterarguments and social-media conversations.

That is why, if the measurement is political debate, visibility and argumentative impact rather than official government communication, Ajiboye deserves consideration among the administration's leading communicators.

Dele Alake belongs in the conversation for another reason: policy communication. Tinubu appointed him in June 2023 as Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy. During the administration's opening months, Alake was central to explaining the government's economic direction and communicating some of its most consequential policy decisions.

His subsequent move to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development also gave him another platform from which to communicate the administration's economic agenda. In 2025, for instance, the State House reported his claim that reforms in the mining sector had helped generate more than ₦38 billion in revenue in 2024, compared with ₦6 billion in the previous year, alongside more than $800 million in processing projects.

Femi Gbajabiamila represents political influence rather than traditional media combat. As Chief of Staff to the President since June 2023, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives operates much closer to the centre of political coordination than most of the communicators on this list. His strength is therefore less about the frequency of television appearances and more about political reach, legislative experience and proximity to the President.

The later additions to the communications structure also demonstrate how the Presidency has adapted its messaging operation. In November 2024, the administration restructured its media team, designating Sunday Dare as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications and Daniel Bwala as Special Adviser on Policy Communication, alongside Onanuga. The Presidency explicitly said the arrangement was intended to improve the effectiveness and consistency of government communication.

Bwala is particularly significant because he represents a newer generation of political-media commentators who moved from independent public commentary into direct government communication. By February 2025, the Presidency was publicly praising his role in articulating government policies and facilitating public engagement.

So, who actually wins?

If the yardstick is political combativeness and willingness to confront opponents, Keyamo remains difficult to displace.

If it is sustained presidential and policy communication, Onanuga has the strongest claim.

If it is television debate, political argument and impact relative to formal institutional position, Ajiboye becomes one of the most interesting figures in the entire communications structure.

And if the question is political influence behind the scenes, Gbajabiamila belongs in an entirely different category.

A reasonable provisional ranking on the combined criteria of media visibility, political defence, debate generation and sustained relevance would therefore be:
Festus Keyamo — 9.5/10
Bayo Onanuga — 9.2/10
Otunba Biodun Ajiboye — 8.9/10
Dele Alake — 8.4/10
Femi Gbajabiamila — 7.8/10
Sunday Dare — 7.6/10
Daniel Bwala — 7.5/10

These scores should not be mistaken for scientific measurements. They are an editorial assessment based on the communicators' visibility, political engagement, institutional relevance and demonstrated ability to participate in contentious national conversations. A genuinely quantitative ranking would require systematically cataloguing appearances, audience reach, social-media engagement, media pickup and the longevity of individual controversies.

Tinubu's communications architecture is no longer simply about having a presidential spokesman. It is about having multiple voices capable of occupying different parts of the political battlefield.

And as 2027 approaches, that distinction may become increasingly important.

The strongest political communications operation is rarely the one with the loudest voice. It is the one capable of producing different voices for different audiences; the lawyer who fights, the journalist who explains, the technocrat who provides policy context, the politician who debates and the strategist who understands the machinery of power.

That is what makes the Tinubu media ecosystem worth watching as Nigeria moves closer to 2027.

Politics › Who Is Karl Ikemefuna Von Batten And What Is He Hiding - Femi Fani-kayode Writes by Amberly01(op): 7:06am On Sep 08
Fani-Kayode Tackles Von Batten over Tinubu Allegations, Questions Credentials, Motives

WHO IS KARL IKEMEFUNA VON BATTEN AND WHAT IS HE HIDING?

I attempted to stay out of this discussion but I found the whole matter so nauseating that I cannot in good conscience do so any longer.

I advise Dr. Karl Von Batten (@KVONBATTEN) OR Dr. Karl-Marx Edward Ikemefuna William George Okeke-Von Batten OR whatever his real name is to consider the following.

You and your self-styled American lobbyist and PR firm called 'Von Batten-Montague-York LC' (@batten_von) have been trying so hard to get everyone's attention.

My email and the DM on all my social media handles have been flooded with the hogwash that you publish about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT ) on a daily basis by people from all over the world.

Frankly you have constituted yourself into a distractive nuisance and source of mild irritation to many.

You are trying so hard to discredit our President and paint him as a mafia-like gangster and dangerous and callous villain even though he has not been indicted or convicted of any crime by any court of law in America or anywhere else.

You even went as far as to publish the asinine, absurd, mendacious and foul falsehood that he sent an agent and associate of his to you in an attempt to invite you to London and bribe you with 3 million USD in return for your silence without providing any tangible or concrete evidence.

That is the sordid level of lunacy, desperation and substance-induced fantasy that you have degenerated and resorted to.

I put it to you that if you actually believe what you have said on this attempted bribery allegation then you are clearly seeing things and hearing voices that do not belong in this realm and I therefore have every reason to question, not just your integrity, but also your sanity.

If this is the case I implore you, in the name of God, to get help before it is too late and you continuing embarrassing yourself because, despite our differences, I wish you the very best and good health.

Yet you soldier on regardless and keep pushing your stale and increasingly boring fables as hard and frantically as you can.

You appear to have forgotten that, as the saying goes, 'the harder they come, the harder they fall'.

You and your company, together with those that you represent and that are sponsoring and encouraging you have certainly come very hard against President Tinubu and you shall SURELY fall equally hard, never to rise again.

You are so hell bent on demonising him and I wonder why, if you are so sure of your case, that you can't just wait for the court proceedings to be concluded, for the Judge to deliver her ruling and for the 2027 elections to take place.

The reality is that you know that nothing will come of it and like my friend and brother, the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo (@fkeyamo) rightly said, it is "a storm in a tea cup" that is "going nowhere".

Outside of that no-one is loosing any sleep over the ongoing disclosure case in the United States that you appear to be obsessed with or the legal mumbo jumbo, disjointed verbiage and empty threats that you constantly spew about reporting anyone and everyone that opposes your views and relentless onslaught to the American Congress, the FBI and the Trump White House.

Like most of us I have every confidence that the American Judiciary will do the right thing, uphold the rule of law, ensure that good sense and justice prevails, uphold the submissions of the FBI, the DEA and President Tinubu himself, uphold the latters legitimate privacy rights and not play into the slick and sleazy hands of you, your client, Aaron Greenspan, who initiated the proceedings, and all those that are egging you on.

You see President Tinubu's destiny and fate is not in your hands but rather in the hands of God and the Nigerian people.

No matter how many X messages you post, how many names you drop, how connected you are, how many irrational and nonsensical outbursts you make or how much you are being paid you CANNOT stop him or destroy him.

Given your pyschotic obsession with this matter which clearly goes beyond the norm and which is indicative of your malevolent intent and the malice you bear towards our President, I am constrained to give you a little of my time and join the fray by saying the following.

I have been reliably informed that your 'Von Batten' surname came through your marriage to Elizabeth Von Batten.

This curious state of affairs raises concerns about why a man whose records carry a Nigerian name, Ikemefuna Okeke, is publicly known as 'Karl Von Batten'.

Many are asking what type of man drops his fathers name and converts it to that of his spouse whose ancestry and name is clearly German?

What are you hiding Ikemefuna? Do you want to be a German by force?

Or is your dream and aspiration to be regarded and remembered as an American/German and not a Nigerian?

Is there something in your history or past that you do not want us to know?

Are you are ashamed of your ancestry and heritage or is it that you are just a gutless coward?

Perhaps it could be both.

Or is it that your father disowned you and insisted that you stop using his family name?

Whatever the case it
appears that in your marriage you are the wife and your wife is the husband.

I wouldn't be surprised if she wears male boxer shorts under her skirt whilst you wear female underwear under your trousers.

Surely no-one can trust a man who hides his true name and identity and instead uses that of his wife and who insists on wearing a woman's dress.

Whatever the case the truth is that, at best, you are a shady character and, at worse, you are a seasoned scammer.

If this were not the case how did you manage to fool His Excellency Abubakar Atiku, (@atiku) the great Wazirin Adamawa, into paying you 1.2 million USD for pursuing a futile cause and treading a fruitless path that will lead to nowhere and end in NOTHING!

I guess you misled him and probably assured him that, as the final cherry on the cake, you will get him an audience, with red carpet treatment and the full works, at the White House and that you will throw in a walk in the Rose garden, a meeting in the Oval Office, a seat at the Resolute Desk and a walz in the newly-constructed White House Ball Room.

In case I forget to ask kindly tell me what schools and Universities, if any, you attended.

You claim to have graduated from Oxford, Colombia, Harvard, Cornell, NYIT and others but there appears to be no public record or confirmation of this.

Neither is there any publicly verified list of schools that you actually attended.

This seems strange given the fact that you have such a high profile and suffer from what can best be described as narcissistic tendencies.

You are indeed the most graphic and vulgar expression and profound reflection of the proverbial lickspittle: a sleazy, servile, self-serving weazle that is worthless and crooked in all it's ways. Yet it doesn't stop there.

John 8:44 says, "you are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies".

This scripture describes you accurately.

You are a son of perdition: an evil soul, with an evil purpose, offering evil counsel, working for evil forces and attempting to implement an evil agenda.

Needless to say, despite your constant boasting about who you know, who you work for and what you claim you can do and in spite of your crass insolence and insufferable arrogance, you and your grotty little PR firm will fail in your vile and vicious onslaught against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because your claims are false and your petition is a big fat NOTHING-BURGER.

Outside of your wild fantasies, infantile assertions, puerile delusions and masturbatuary dreams you have NOTHING, you are NOTHING and you will end up with NOTHING!

Fashion › MAFEST Moves To September 2027, Positioning For Its Most Ambitious Edition Yet by Amberly01(op): 4:05pm On Sep 07
The Organising Committee of the Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) has announced the rescheduling of its next edition to September 2027, following careful consideration of the prevailing security environment and the political atmosphere ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The decision is strategic, driven by the organisers’ determination to protect the integrity of the festival, ensure the safety and comfort of participants and visitors, and deliver an edition that truly reflects MAFEST’s growing stature as a Pan-African creative economy platform.

Rather than compromise on quality, reach, and international participation, MAFEST is using the additional preparation period to build an even bigger and more impactful festival.

MAFEST 2027 will be different. It will be bigger in scope, broader in participation and stronger in its Pan-African character.

The 2027 edition is being designed to bring together representatives from 20 African countries, making it one of the most significant fashion, textile and creative economy gatherings of its kind ever hosted in Nigeria.

Already endorsed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, MAFEST 2027 is being developed in collaboration with relevant Federal Government institutions, including the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment; Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; and Federal Ministry of Environment, alongside the growing support of Nigerians in Diaspora organisations across Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom.

This growing institutional and international support reinforces MAFEST's vision as more than a fashion show.

MAFEST is a platform for Africa’s creative economy.

It is a meeting point for fashion designers, models, textile manufacturers, cotton producers, creative entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, media organisations, development partners and the African Diaspora.

Through fashion, MAFEST seeks to tell Africa’s story, create opportunities for young people and women, promote African creativity and enterprise, strengthen the Cotton-Textile-Garment value chain, and contribute to the emergence of a more competitive African creative economy.

The festival will continue to combine fashion showcases with exhibitions, business and policy conversations, creative economy engagements, talent development, tourism promotion and opportunities for African brands to connect with new markets.

TAKE YOUR PLACE IN AFRICA

The theme of MAFEST 2027 — “TAKE YOUR PLACE IN AFRICA” — captures the spirit of the next edition.

It is both an invitation and a declaration: an invitation to African creatives, entrepreneurs, investors and institutions to take their rightful place in shaping the continent’s future; and a declaration that Africa’s fashion and creative industries deserve a stronger presence in the continent’s economic development agenda.

The organisers are therefore not simply preparing another festival. They are building a continental platform with Nigerian roots and an African outlook.

The formal unveiling of MAFEST 2027 is scheduled for next month (October, 2026) in Abuja. The unveiling will provide an opportunity to present the vision, programme, partnerships and strategic direction of the 2027 edition to stakeholders, the media and the public.

The specific festival venue and host city for September 2027 will be announced in the first quarter of 2027.

According to the President of MAFEST, Mr. Charles Ozoemena, the decision to move the festival was taken in the long-term interest of the institution and its growing community of partners and participants.

“MAFEST is bigger than a date on the calendar. It is a Pan-African vision. We would rather take the necessary time to prepare properly and deliver an edition that Africa and Nigeria will be proud of than compromise the quality, safety and international character of the festival.”

He added:

“September 2027 allows us to bring together more countries, more designers, more creative entrepreneurs, more investors and more opportunities. We are not postponing the dream; we are expanding it.”

With preparations already underway, the organisers are inviting governments, development partners, corporate organisations, fashion and textile businesses, media organisations, investors and members of the African Diaspora to join the journey towards MAFEST 2027.

The countdown has begun.

MAFEST 2027
TAKE YOUR PLACE IN AFRICA.
Africa's fashion. Africa's creativity. Africa's future.

Music/Radio › Lady Doja Allen Joins League Of Nigeria's Radio Industry Titans by Amberly01(op): 7:09am On Aug 31
... As Cardinal Broadcasting CEO expands footprint with 93.5 Area FM

The Nigerian broadcasting industry is witnessing a significant development as Lady Doja Allen, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited (operators of City 101.5FM); expands her company’s radio portfolio with the launch of 93.5 Area FM.

For as long as most Lagosians have been listening to private radio, the names behind most of the stations have tended to repeat themselves. Ameen Mousalli, the man who built Wazobia FM and, with it, pioneered pidgin-language broadcasting in Nigeria, now sits atop a group that also includes Nigeria Info and Cool FM. Chris Ubosi left a senior role at Mousalli's AIM Group to set up Megalectrics Limited, which today runs Classic FM, The Beat FM, Naija FM, and Lagos Talks; and Tajudeen Adepetu, chairman of Group8 (formerly Consolidated Media Associates), built Soundcity Radio Network, Correct FM, and Urban96 Radio anchoring a portfolio that spans television and radio across several countries.

It has, until now, been an entirely male dominated club; that's the club Lady Doja Allen is stepping into not as a newcomer learning the business, but as someone who has already spent over a decade and half running one of Lagos's most closely watched turnaround stories.

For Lady Doja Allen, the development represents more than the addition of another radio frequency. It signals the evolution of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited from a company associated primarily with City FM into a broader broadcasting enterprise with multiple radio brands.

As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, Lady Doja Allen has been at the centre of the company’s strategic direction, business development and broadcasting operations.

Her leadership of City FM has provided the foundation for the next phase of the company’s growth and rather than remaining focused on maintaining a single successful station, Lady Doja Allen is now leveraging that experience to build another radio brand with a distinctly different identity.

The emergence of 93.5 Area FM therefore places Cardinal Broadcasting Limited in a new category of a multi-station broadcasting company.

While City FM has developed its identity within Lagos’ urban radio market, Area FM is expected to build its brand around the language, lifestyle and experiences of everyday people, providing a platform designed to communicate with listeners in ways that cuts across ethnic, social and economic boundaries.

The strategy could enable Cardinal Broadcasting Limited to reach different segments of Lagos’ huge radio audience while creating complementary commercial opportunities across its brands.

The significance of 93.5 Area FM lies in what it represents for Cardinal Broadcasting Limited.

For Lady Doja Allen, the second station provides an opportunity to demonstrate that the systems, experience and commercial understanding developed through City FM can be replicated across another distinct broadcasting proposition.

It also creates the possibility of Cardinal Broadcasting Limited developing a broader media ecosystem, with different stations serving different demographics, interests and listening habits.

In an increasingly competitive Nigerian media market, such diversification can provide broadcasters with greater flexibility in responding to changing audience behaviour, advertising trends and the rapid convergence of traditional radio with digital platforms.

AXP Africa Limited marked its sixth anniversary with a brand relaunch cocktail event themed “A New Chapter, A Greater Impact,” introducing a repositioned identity and an expanded operating model designed to close Nigeria’s housing deficit at scale.

The event, held at the Civic Center, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together developers, mortgage banks, investors, and government stakeholders, and marked the company’s formal transition from AXP Solutions Pro Limited to AXP Africa Limited, reflecting its evolution from a real estate advisory firm into what the company describes as an ecosystem integrator, connecting the finance, technology, policy, and partnership functions required to move housing from aspiration to ownership.

Since its founding, AXP has facilitated real estate advisory and mortgage applications through partnerships with developers and financial institutions, delivering completed transactions for clients across Nigeria. The firm has profiled and facilitated mortgage opportunities for more than 300 prospects to date.

“For six years, AXP has done one thing with real consistency: we’ve provided real estate advisory and completed mortgage applications for genuinely esteemed customers, through partnerships built on trust, not transactions,” said Hakeem Sadiku, Head, Enterprise Strategy, PMO & Transformation AXP Africa Limited. “That foundation doesn’t change tonight. What changes is the scale we’re building for. Nigeria’s housing deficit demands nothing less than urgency at scale, and that means putting technology at the heart of how we operate, opening a real corporate track, and inviting every partner in this room to be part of what gets us there.”

AXP says the next phase of its work centers on scaling its facilitation numbers well beyond current levels, accelerating National Housing Fund processing, and formalizing a corporate homeownership track that brings employers, developers, and mortgage banks into a single coordinated pathway. While Nigeria remains the company's immediate focus, the company has said its long-term ambition includes adapting its model to other African markets facing similar housing finance and delivery constraints.

Music/Radio › A Breathe Of Fresh Air Victony Delivers STARLIFE In A Swagged Out Way - Abalokwu by Amberly01(op): 3:58pm On Aug 25
Lately, I have been having this recurring dream of being Davido's manager, like bailing him out of multiple situations. I don't know why, but I am Joseph, so my dreams are always valid.

Back to STARLIFE. One of the serious contenders for Artiste of the Year, Swaggerlomo aka Victony, dropped his highly anticipated project, which to me is a breath of fresh air in a world full of experimentations by the eccentric Nigerian underground artistes coalition. Shout out to Mavo & Zay for showing these cats that it is possible to own the charts with no label, no fancy budget, no godfather - just rawdogging and staying true to your craft.

This 15-track project boasts features from YKB, Blaqbones, Fola, and many more. The album opens with "TOO LIT," which sets the tone that we are about to listen to one of the best projects of the year. Insane production with a voice that is so stupid, it's hard to believe he started as a rapper and wasn't singing all his life. He was too lit! The song was made for car owners with badass stereos to play on that drive to the club around 12:30am with their guys, knowing you are doing strictly CASAMIGOS.

On Track 2, "WHO THIS" ft BNXN, the combination of two of the best voices in the country gave us bars? Sign me up. Buju didn't come last; he came correct with a short verse but stuck with the theme.

Tracks 3, 4 & 5 remind me of the dangerous Barcelona's MSN - a triple run of greatness. In my words, they were young, fresh, and swaggalicious. They had this feeling; no matter how you listen, you feel the swag in you.

On Track 6, "FYNE," he samples Orezi's "You Garrit" in a swagful way, in a way that gives the song a new life but keeps the originality. We don't appreciate his music scene enough!

On Track 9, "ARMED & DANGEROUS" ft Young John, was a bit underwhelming to me - not because it was a bad song, but it felt slightly different from the whole project. However, YJ had a very fire verse, probably the only artiste to outdo him on this project.

Hugo once said “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent” - "MISSING PIECE" is that. Words can't express how beautiful this song is. It sounds like a dark-skinned babe from the UK who models and has her IG on private but shows a bit of her lifestyle on Snapchat (friends only). I call it PIER 47—the continuation of PIER 46. I felt the production and voice in my soul. The loverboys are up and safe from cana music.

"TWIN" with FOLA is another favorite of mine. Although the song starts after 30 seconds, it is a well-written song because I used to have a twin and would go brrr on anyone that whines her. Victony lets FOLA be FOLA; he beats his verse so sexily you'd think he is mad at his girl. The outro song "TYPO" was essentially fit for this. He said his shii with VIM. He told everyone he is stubborn and this isn't a fluke!

"ALL THE MONEY I OWN, DEM NO KNOW SAY NA MY MUSIC DEY CHOP AM." And this is evident on this project. Every song had exquisite production full of swag. You could already see yourself wearing jorts, your cap to the side, and a nice pair of boots. Every producer looked at Victony in the eyes and said, "YES VICTORY, I UNDERSTAND YOUR DIRECTION," and there was not one flaw. A perfect summer album for soft boys who have a bit of hard guy. Every feature on the album (I hope YKB finally gets the flower he deserves) was carefully selected and they all stayed on the topic but never outdid Victony. He was that good. This album is a rainbow after a heavy downpour, it’s giving birth to a male child after having six girls in an Igbo family, it’s Peter Obi amongst Nigerian politicians. This album came at the right time for the real lovers of Afrobeats.

To me, STARLIFE is young, fresh, swag, and the new lifestyle. I will give it a solid 9/10 because I believe Wave$tar should be one with the STARLIFE title.

Politics › Ned Nwoko’s Digital Nationalism: Why Nigeria Must Bring Big Tech Home by Amberly01(op): 2:57pm On Aug 25
For decades, Nigeria has been an enormous market for foreign products.

· We import technology.

· We import finished goods.

· We consume foreign entertainment.

· We use foreign digital platforms.

The danger is that the country becomes extraordinarily good at consuming value without capturing enough of it.

In the digital world, there is something fundamentally paradoxical about Nigeria's relationship with the global digital economy. We are among the world's most enthusiastic consumers of social media. Millions of Nigerians wake up to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and other digital platforms. Businesses advertise on them. Young Nigerians build careers on them. Politicians use them to communicate with voters. Influencers make livelihoods from them. News travels through them. Even criminal networks have increasingly exploited them.

Yet, beneath this enormous digital activity lies a simple question: Where are the companies? Where are their offices, their executives, their technical teams, their legal departments, their compliance officers and the institutional structures through which Nigeria can engage them directly?

This is the question Senator Ned Nwoko is now asking through a proposed bill seeking an amendment to Nigeria's data legislation.

The bill, titled the Nigerian Data Protection Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (SB 650), which he is sponsoring, aims to mandate social media giants, digital platforms, and online businesses to establish physical offices in Nigeria, ensuring taxation, employment creation, compliance with local laws, and enhanced digital accountability. Recently, the bill went through Public Hearing awaiting the next stage-third Reading.

But beneath the technical language of the proposed legislation lies a much larger idea: Nigeria should no longer be satisfied with being a gigantic market for global technology companies. Nigeria should demand to become a participant in the value they create.

That is the more profound story behind Nwoko's intervention. Speaking via a Radio interview with Heat FM Calabar, monitored in Abuja the Distinguished lawmaker and champion of the campaign for the creation of Anioma State gave reasons for pushing the bill. “I am inspired to push for this amendment, and of course, we know that if they — the Big Techs — are here, there would be jobs for Nigerians, many Nigerians. There would be lots of technology transfer. There would be security support, because they would be here to support security."

From Consumption to Participation
Nwoko approaches the subject with an unusual combination of legislative ambition and international experience.

He says he has sponsored more than 31 bills, a reflection of what he describes as his passion for lawmaking. His professional journey has also taken him through the British legal system, where he studied Law and History, obtained a master's degree from the University of London and qualified first as a Barrister and subsequently as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.

It is perhaps this international exposure that informs his argument.

He says he has maintained relationships with people in some of the world's leading technology companies and has repeatedly heard the same concern: companies would like to invest more deeply in Nigeria, but they require an environment in which their legal status, obligations and investments are clearly protected.

“Do you know that I have friends in these social media tech companies?" he revealed, adding, "And they keep telling me that they cannot come to Nigeria. I have been trying to encourage them to come to Nigeria, just as I have been trying to encourage Formula One (F1) to come to Nigeria. My first son works for Formula One — he is one of the lawyers there. But they wouldn't come to Nigeria because there are no enabling laws. Our society is seen as unfriendly for businesses to grow. And so these tech companies have said to me, severally, that they want to come to Nigeria, but they want an enabling law that would say 'come.”

The message he says he receives from them is essentially this:

Give us certainty, and we can come. That is not an unreasonable demand.

A company contemplating a multi-billion-dollar investment does not only simply examine the size of a country's population but examines the stability of its laws, regulatory institutions, taxation regime, dispute-resolution mechanisms and investment protections.

Nwoko's proposal is therefore based on a straightforward proposition: if these companies are already doing substantial business in Nigeria, Nigeria should create a framework that encourages them to establish a formal presence here. And the benefits, he argues, could extend far beyond the technology sector.

Massive Jobs Hidden Inside the Internet
For Nwoko, the strongest argument is economic and here is the outlook:

If major technology companies establish substantial operations in Nigeria, they will need lawyers, accountants, engineers, cybersecurity specialists, data analysts, communications professionals, administrators, researchers and thousands of other workers. Around those companies would emerge an ecosystem of local suppliers, consultants, startups and service providers.

That is how economies grow.

The technology sector would not simply be importing services into Nigeria. It would increasingly be creating value within Nigeria.

This is what Nwoko means when he speaks about jobs and technology transfer.

The real prize is not merely having a Facebook or TikTok office in Lagos or Abuja. The prize is what happens around that office. A generation of Nigerian engineers could acquire specialised knowledge. Local companies could become suppliers. Universities could develop programmes around emerging technologies.

Startups could gain access to global networks. Young professionals could work alongside some of the world's most sophisticated technology companies without having to leave Nigeria.

In that sense, bringing Big Tech home could become an investment in Nigeria's human capital.

The Revenue Question
Then there is the question that governments everywhere eventually ask:

If the money is being made here, how much of the value is being captured here?

Nwoko argues that Nigeria loses enormous potential revenue from taxes and that bringing global digital companies into a clearer domestic regulatory framework could help expand the country's tax base.

Hear him again: “We lose about N15 trillion every year to taxes alone. You can imagine how many roads that will build, imagine how many dams that would build, imagine how many people that can be employed from that”

His argument is particularly relevant in an economy constantly searching for new sources of public revenue. “All I am saying is that we want them here and run there businesses here to help us to grow our economy. For me the concern is economic benefits for us” he stressed.

Every Naira that can legitimately be collected through a transparent and predictable tax system potentially represents another road, school, hospital, water project or job-creation programme. But there is an important principle here. The objective should not be to frighten technology companies away with punitive taxation. It should be to create a fair bargain.

With Nigeria offers the market. Companies bring capital, technology and expertise. The country provides predictable laws. Companies comply with those laws and contribute appropriately to the public purse. That is not hostility to business. It is how mature economies work.

Comparatively Other Countries Have Done It—Why Not Nigeria?

In buttressing his advocacy, Sen. Nwoko made a comparative analysis that justified his view pointing out that several countries, including France, Ireland, Germany and the UK, have already compelled big tech firms to establish local offices and comply with tax laws. Some nations have even blocked access to non-compliant platforms.

“If France and the UK can do it, why can't we? Are we less of a nation? These companies must respect our laws, just as they do elsewhere," he asserted, adding, "This is what is happening in the UK, South Africa, in fact in all other countries. Look, we are the biggest consumers of social media, and so why can't they come here and set up offices that would benefit our people? They will create access.”

The Data Belongs to Somebody
Perhaps the most compelling dimension of Nwoko's argument, however, concerns data and which is incontrovertible because everyday Nigerians generate and consume extraordinary quantities of digital information.

· We search.

· We communicate.

· We shop.

· We make payments.

· We watch videos.

· We share photographs.

· We reveal our locations and preferences.

· We create digital identities without always knowing where that information ultimately resides or who can access it.

Another Nwoko's concern is that Nigerians should not be left in a situation where their personal data is being handled by entities that are physically distant from the jurisdiction in which the users live.

His argument is therefore not simply that technology companies should come to Nigeria because Nigeria wants their money.

It is also that Nigerians deserve stronger institutional accountability from companies that profit from their participation in the digital economy.

The question is compelling: If a company can make billions from Nigerian users, why should it not also have a meaningful legal and institutional presence in Nigeria?

Security in the Digital Age and What Nigeria is Missing
This is another dimension of his argument that deserves serious attention: national security. Nwoko points to the increasingly sophisticated use of social media by criminal groups.

When criminals can broadcast, recruit, communicate, issue threats and disseminate information through digital platforms, the security implications are no longer theoretical.

He refers to instances where suspected kidnappers have used social media platforms for live broadcasts.

His argument is that cooperation between Nigerian security agencies and technology companies could be more effective if those companies had a stronger operational presence in the country.

He said: “For many Nigerians, there would be lots of technology transfer. There would be security support, because they would be here to support security. Just imagine a few weeks back when kidnappers in Oyo were making their demands through a live broadcast on TikTok. Just imagine that happening with TikTok on ground here — the security agencies would just contact them and say, 'This is the situation on hand, can you help us pinpoint where these people are?' They would work with them and get them arrested easily. What I am advocating for is not new”

The logic is simple.

A security agency facing a genuine threat should be able to engage an identifiable local representative of a technology company quickly and through established legal channels. That does not mean giving government unrestricted access to private information. It means creating lawful channels of cooperation.

He is also worried that there seem to be no proper protection for Nigerians using their data which makes them vulnerably exposed to exploitation and confidentiality drought. “Now there is no protection for even your own data of Nigerians. Its being managed by people we don’t know. We don’t know them, they don’t know us. So any body can buy our data because they owe us no obligation”

And that distinction is crucial.

The Freedom-of-Speech Argument
Predictably, the idea of requiring major social media companies to establish offices in Nigeria raises concerns about government interference and freedom of expression. As a well tutored first class British trained lawyer Nwoko perfectly understands the conflates of their varied arguments against the bill.

He however rejects the suggestion that his proposal is intended to give government control over social media.

His argument is that freedom of expression exists within legal boundaries in every functioning democracy. Therefore, he contends that enforcing accountability for platforms does not equate to censorship, citing the operations of MTN and DSTV as references.

“Can you just imagine if MTN, DSTV, and the rest of them were operating in our airspace without having offices here? Those companies have offices here. There are enabling laws for them to operate here. It is not a hidden fact that they are contributing to the economy of Nigeria.”

Nwoko’s argument is that companies like MTN and DSTV operate within Nigeria's legal and regulatory environment. They maintain physical operations. They employ Nigerians. They engage regulators. They contribute to the economy

“Can you just imagine if MTN, DSTV, and the rest of them were operating in our airspace without having offices here? Those companies have offices here. There are enabling laws for them to operate here. It is not a hidden fact that they are contributing to the economy of Nigeria."

A Lawmaker Thinking Beyond the Next Election
There is also something significant about the way Nwoko frames the initiative. He does not present it simply as another bill.

He presents it as part of a broader philosophy of lawmaking—using legislation to remove barriers that prevent Nigeria from attracting investment and capturing economic opportunities.

His ambition appears to be to use the law not merely as an instrument of punishment or regulation, but as an instrument of economic development. That is an important distinction. After all, good legislation should not merely tell citizens and businesses what they cannot do. It should also create pathways for what they can do.It should open doors. It should reduce uncertainty. It should encourage investment. It should protect citizens. It should make the country more competitive.

That appears to be the philosophy behind Nwoko's digital economy initiative.

Politics › The APC Presidential Campaign Council List: The Fine-tuning Required by Amberly01(op): 1:19pm On Aug 25
As would be expected of a ruling party with tentacles in virtually every nook and cranny of the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC), days ago, unveiled an all-encompassing Presidential Campaign Council list that was capable of intimidating the opposition by its sheer size, reach and political weight.

It was, in many respects, a list of who-is-who in the current power calculus across the country—apparently designed to send cold jitters down the spines of an opposition that, even before the list was released, appeared to be struggling with its own internal contradictions.

But days after the list entered the public domain, the outcry from party stalwarts, political observers, opposition figures and members of the general public has remained unabated. The concerns have evidently become strong enough to compel the Presidency to recall the list for review.

There is little doubt that the list requires some tweaking if the APC and, indeed, the Presidency are to avoid needless embarrassment and, more importantly, assemble a more potent and effective team capable of delivering victory in 2027.

One of the most obvious shortcomings of the list is the conspicuous absence of some frontline players and influential stakeholders whose contributions to the party's success in 2023 were remarkable and whose relevance to the battle ahead remains undiminished.

Observers have, for instance, continued to wonder why the name of Festus Keyamo, the current Minister of Aviation, was omitted from the list. Keyamo served as Spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs during the 2023 Presidential campaign and played a prominent role in communicating the Tinubu campaign's message to the electorate.

Analysts argue that Keyamo remains an asset for a task of this magnitude. He had previously played a significant role in the political battles that culminated in the emergence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and, subsequently, in the hard-fought 2023 Presidential election that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Another name that has generated considerable discussion is that of Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Cultural Orientation (NICO).

A committed party man and an outspoken advocate of the Bola Tinubu brand, APC policies and government programmes, Ajiboye has consistently used television and other media platforms to defend the administration and explain its policies to the public.

A formidable debater and tireless expositor of government policies, Otunba Ajiboye has earned a reputation as a fearless communicator who is never reluctant to take the battle to the opposition media space. He has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to engage critics of the administration on their own turf and defend the government's position with conviction and considerable ease.

His omission, therefore, has left many wondering whether such a tested communicator should not have a place in a campaign structure whose success will depend heavily on effective public communication.

Also attracting attention is the omission of Simon Lalong, former Governor of Plateau State, who served as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2023 and was widely regarded as having discharged the responsibility creditably.

For many party stakeholders, leaving out someone with direct experience of managing a Presidential campaign of that scale raises legitimate questions about the criteria used in constituting the 2027 council.

The absence of such political heavyweights as Dikko Radda, Governor of Katsina State, Yahaya Bello, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, all former governors, has also been identified by observers as another significant gap in the list. Whatever the individual circumstances of these politicians, their political networks, experience and influence are difficult to overlook in a national campaign of this magnitude.

But while some observers have focused on the names that are conspicuously absent, others have raised questions about the inclusion and deployment of some of those whose names made the list.

There has, for instance, been criticism over the inclusion of Betta Edu, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, amid the controversies surrounding her tenure and the allegations that arose from the humanitarian ministry saga.

Similar concerns have been raised about the inclusion of other individuals who have faced public controversy over allegations of financial impropriety. For a campaign seeking to project a message of competence, accountability and renewal, party strategists may need to consider carefully whether such controversial inclusions strengthen or weaken the overall narrative.

Another issue that has attracted considerable attention is the multiple deployment of Mr Dele Alake, whose name appears in several positions, including Director, Policy and Manifesto Development; Coordinating Director, Media/Strategic Communication II; Presidential Spokesperson I; and Director, Extractive Industry Sector Mobilisation I.

While there is no doubt about Alake's experience and competence, the concentration of so many responsibilities in one individual has understandably generated questions among party stakeholders, particularly when several other competent and influential party members could also have been given meaningful responsibilities.

The central issue, therefore, is not necessarily the size of the list. A large campaign council is understandable for a party seeking to prosecute a nationwide Presidential campaign. The more important question is whether the structure is strategically balanced, sufficiently inclusive and populated by individuals whose strengths can be deployed effectively.

The 2027 Presidential election will require more than numbers. It will require political experience, grassroots mobilisation, effective communication, intellectual firepower, media engagement, youth mobilisation, women mobilisation and the ability to defend the administration's record convincingly before a sceptical electorate.

The APC, therefore, has an opportunity to turn the controversy surrounding the initial list into an advantage.

The recall of the list by the Presidency is a welcome opportunity to fine-tune the structure, correct obvious omissions, eliminate unnecessary overlaps and ensure that those who have demonstrated capacity, loyalty and effectiveness are appropriately deployed.

Ultimately, the objective should not simply be to produce the longest possible campaign council. It should be to assemble the most effective one.

The Presidency has taken the first step by recalling the list released days ago. Party stalwarts, stakeholders and, indeed, the wider public will now wait with keen interest to see whether the revised list will reflect a more inclusive, balanced and potent campaign structure capable of delivering the APC's desired victory in 2027.
Politics › APC Campaign Council List Triggers Fresh Internal Disquiet (details) by Amberly01(op): 7:29am On Aug 25
Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the release of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, with members of the party expressing deep displeasure over what they described as the exclusion of some of the party’s most experienced political strategists, campaigners and government officials.

The development has sparked concerns across different blocs of the ruling party, with insiders warning that the composition of the council, as presently constituted, falls short of reflecting the political realities, institutional hierarchy and broad coalition that delivered President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in 2023.

However, party stakeholders were unanimous in commending the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, describing the decision as one of the strongest aspects of the list. According to the sources, Yari remains one of the APC’s most formidable grassroots mobilisers, an experienced political strategist with extensive national reach and a loyal party leader whose capacity to galvanise support across the North and beyond would undoubtedly strengthen the President’s re-election campaign.

According to highly placed party sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, the omission of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, widely regarded as the APC’s highest-ranking and most influential political figure from the South-East; former Director-General of the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN; and Former Minister of Aviation and Nigeria's Ambassador-Designate to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has generated widespread resentment within the party.

The sources argued that the affected figures were not ordinary party members but frontline political actors who played defining roles in the emergence of the Tinubu administration and have continued to defend the government and the party at critical moments.

One source particularly questioned the omission of Femi Fani-Kayode, noting that despite waiting for years before eventually being appointed Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, he remained one of the administration’s fiercest defenders.

“Femi Fani-Kayode stood firmly with this government when there was no appointment. Even before his recent nomination as High Commissioner to South Africa, he was one of the loudest voices defending President Tinubu and the APC against sustained attacks from the opposition.

Fani-Kayode and Keyamo acted as key campaign spokesmen, aggressively defending the candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, against opposition criticism throughout the 2023 Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign.

The same applies to Nuhu Ribadu, who has consistently defended the administration while serving in one of the country’s most sensitive offices.”

The source further described the exclusion of Festus Keyamo, Femi Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri as a major strategic error, arguing that all three have become some of the administration’s most visible communicators, consistently confronting opposition narratives through legal, political and media engagements.

According to the source, removing such experienced political communicators from the campaign council weakens the Media Directorate of the party.

“The exclusion of Keyamo, Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri from the campaign council is a colossal damage to the campaign structure. These are individuals who have consistently engaged the opposition, dismantled false narratives and defended the administration with facts and conviction. They have become part of the party’s frontline communication machinery.”

Party insiders also alleged that the composition of the council was driven by a narrow circle of individuals whose decisions reflected sectional interests rather than the broader objective of building a formidable campaign structure capable of delivering victory for President Tinubu.

The source specifically questioned the concentration of responsibilities in the hands of a few individuals, citing Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, as an example of someone reportedly serving in more than one directorate.

“The objective should be to strengthen the campaign by spreading responsibilities among competent hands. When one individual is saddled with multiple directorates, legitimate questions arise as to whether adequate attention can be given to each assignment, especially when the party has no shortage of capable and experienced personnel.”

The source also disclosed that stakeholders aligned with Vice President Kashim Shettima were almost entirely sidelined in the composition of the campaign council, describing the development as inconsistent with the spirit of inclusiveness expected within a ruling party preparing for a national election.

According to the source, the campaign council ought to reflect every major bloc that contributed to the party’s success in 2023 rather than projecting the influence of a select group.

Despite the growing discontent, the source applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the reconstitution of a fresh list for the Presidential Campaign Council. The source further commended the President for his consistent willingness to listen to constructive criticism and take corrective decisions whenever genuine concerns are raised.

“The President has demonstrated repeatedly that he listens. Whenever genuine concerns are brought to his attention, he has shown the capacity to act in the overall interest of the party and the nation. That is one leadership quality many of us admire. His decision to order a review of the list has restored confidence that every genuine stakeholder will be given a sense of belonging.”

The source expressed confidence that the President would ensure the observed shortcomings are addressed in order to produce a campaign structure that commands the confidence of all stakeholders across the federation.

According to the source:

“This is not a time for self-interest or for any group to believe it owns the government more than another. This is the time to work solely in the interest of the party and to secure the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Victory in 2027 will require unity, inclusion and the collective strength of the entire APC family, not the dominance of a select few.”

Party insiders maintain that the immediate priority should be the construction of a campaign council that reflects competence, loyalty, political experience, regional balance and institutional inclusiveness, qualities they believe are indispensable to President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Culture › Isese 2026: Lagos Declares August 20 Work-free Day To Celebrate Yoruba Heritage by Amberly01(op): 10:03am On Aug 19
...Lagos To Bahia: Lagos Leads As The World Marks 2026 Isese Day

Lagos State will on Thursday, August 20, 2026, host what is expected to be the largest single gathering of traditional worshippers anywhere in the world, as over three million residents mark the 2026 edition of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day.

The Lagos State Government has declared the day work-free for public servants, with work resuming Friday morning. Government offices, public schools and many businesses will close.

In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Idris Aregbe, described the day as far more than a holiday on a calendar.

"Ìṣẹ̀ṣe is not a relic. It is a living expression of our traditions and a celebration of Yoruba spirituality as an important part of Nigeria's cultural and religious landscape," he said.

He noted that the Yoruba are one of Africa's largest ethnic nations, numbering 55 million people or more worldwide, with adherents sustaining Ìṣẹ̀ṣe festivals in Cuba, Brazil and the Caribbean to this day.

"When the drums sound in Lagos on Thursday, they answer drums in Havana, in Salvador, in Port of Spain. Fifty-five million people and counting. Lagos is not observing a local holiday. Lagos is standing at the centre of a global heritage," Aregbe said.

Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day marks the culmination of a full week of traditional activities, and has been observed as a work-free day in Lagos since 2023, following a request from the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has upheld it every year since, in line with the administration's commitment to indigenous values and religious inclusiveness under the THEMES+ Agenda.

Aregbe expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Governor for his courageous support for a noble cause, and reserved special honour for the traditional institution.

"We thank His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. It takes real conviction for a leader to stand publicly with heritage, and he has done so without hesitation and without apology. We also bow to Kábíyèsí, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu I, foremost custodian of Lagos culture, to all our royal fathers, our revered White Cap Chiefs, our Babaláwo and Ìyánífá, our Olóòrìṣà and every custodian and promoter who kept these rites alive when it was neither fashionable nor convenient. Governments come and go. Custodians carry the culture," he said.

This year's celebrations will feature prayers, rituals, processions, drumming and cultural displays dedicated to the Òrìṣà, coordinated by the Association of African Traditional Religion Nigeria and Overseas (AATREN).

Aregbe urged all participants to celebrate peacefully and respectfully.

"Three million voices rising in honour of tradition is not noise. It is history, faith and cultural pride in harmony. Whether you worship in a mosque, a church or a grove, Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day belongs to you, because heritage has no denomination. Lagos remains the city where every heritage finds its place."

What began as a vision to extend the message of hope beyond the pulpit is rapidly evolving into one of the United Kingdom's most impactful faith-based outreach ministries. Under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Chris Kwakpovwe, founder of The Liberty Army UK, the ministry continues to experience remarkable growth, touching lives through spiritual guidance, humanitarian outreach, and one of its most unique initiatives; its highly sought-after "One-on-One" Counselling Programme.

Over the past year, The Liberty Army UK has witnessed increasing participation from individuals and families across the United Kingdom and beyond, with many seeking biblical counsel, emotional support, and practical encouragement in navigating life's most difficult moments. The ministry's steady expansion reflects a growing desire for faith-centred intervention in an era marked by emotional struggles, family crises, and mental health challenges.

At the heart of this growth is the "One-on-One" Counselling Programme, a flagship initiative personally led by Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe. Unlike conventional pastoral engagements, the programme provides individuals with dedicated time to discuss deeply personal issues ranging from marital challenges and grief to financial difficulties, spiritual concerns, and emotional distress.

What distinguishes the Liberty Army UK is its global reach. Despite being headquartered in the United Kingdom, the ministry receives calls and requests for intervention from different parts of the world. Individuals, families, and community leaders regularly contact Bishop Kwakpovwe and Volunteers, seeking urgent support for people facing severe emotional crises, including cases involving individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or overwhelming despair.

Rather than limiting its work to traditional church activities, the ministry has become a point of contact for those searching for someone willing to listen, pray, counsel, and connect them with practical support where necessary. While the ministry does not present itself as a replacement for professional mental health or emergency services, it continues to offer pastoral care and spiritual encouragement to people navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances, often working alongside families and encouraging those in crisis to access appropriate help when needed.

This emphasis on compassionate outreach complements the ministry's broader humanitarian efforts, including the Liberty Army Food Bank, which continues to provide food parcels and essential supplies to vulnerable individuals and families across the United Kingdom.

Together, these initiatives reflect Bishop Kwakpovwe's longstanding conviction that ministry should address both spiritual and practical needs.

Despite his growing international commitments, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe has maintained the regular Global programmes of the ministry's where hundreds of thousands recently participated in the annual worldwide 14 Days Global Fasting and Prayer Programme.

The programme drew participants from across the globe with worshippers joining both physically and through digital platforms for daily prayers, teachings, and prophetic sessions.

For many followers, the simultaneous growth of the UK, USA, Nigerian and the African arms of the ministry demonstrates a commitment to building a ministry without geographical boundaries, one that remains rooted in prayer, discipleship, compassionate service, and community transformation.

Speaking on the ministry's mission, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe, a trained/qualified Nigerian Pharmacist, has consistently pointed to Isaiah 61 as the guiding mandate for The Liberty Army UK: to preach good news, bind up the broken-hearted, comfort those who mourn, and bring hope to people experiencing despair.

Literature/Writing Ads › Kamil Olufowobi: Head Of Civil Service Receives Government Quotient (GQ) by Amberly01(op): 6:20pm On Aug 12
Global strategist and author Kamil Olufowobi has formally presented his new book, Government Quotient: A New Intelligence for Leadership, Service and Public Impact, to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, at a gathering of Federal Permanent Secretaries from across the Federation.

The presentation was made in recognition of Mrs. Walson-Jack’s contribution of the foreword to the book and marked an important milestone ahead of its global launch in New York.

In her foreword, Mrs. Walson-Jack reflects on the importance of understanding government while remaining anchored in the responsibility that comes with public service:

“Knowing how government works must come with an appreciation of why institutions exist, why authority is constrained, why procedures matter and why public trust must be protected. The highest expression of GQ is not proximity to power, but the responsible use of public authority in the service of society.”

— Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation

At the heart of Government Quotient is a simple proposition: government is society’s operating system—and everyone needs the intelligence to understand it, navigate its systems and engage it better.

Olufowobi describes this capability as Government Quotient, or GQ: the intelligence to understand government, navigate its systems and engage it better.

The book argues that government intelligence is not only relevant to those who hold public office. Government shapes the environment in which citizens live, businesses operate, institutions function and societies develop. GQ therefore speaks to public servants and political leaders, but also to business executives, professionals, diplomats, civil society, academia, young people and citizens seeking to engage government more effectively.

“Government exists everywhere. Government affects everyone. GQ is for everyone,” said Kamil Olufowobi. “If government is society’s operating system, then understanding how that system works is a critical capability for the 21st century. Our ambition is to build a government-intelligent world—one person, one organisation and one country at a time.”

From a Book to a Global Framework

Government Quotient introduces the intellectual foundation of the GQ framework and explores how individuals and institutions can strengthen their ability to understand public systems, navigate complexity, engage government effectively and translate that understanding into better leadership, service and public impact.

The book takes readers through a journey to SEE, UNDERSTAND, NAVIGATE, ENGAGE and ultimately create IMPACT, moving GQ from an idea about how government works to a practical framework for engaging the institutions that shape society.

Nigeria holds particular significance in the development of the GQ framework. The special Nigeria Presentation Edition features Mrs. Walson-Jack’s foreword and places the global GQ proposition in conversation with Nigeria’s continuing efforts to strengthen public institutions, leadership capability and national development.

The global launch of Government Quotient will take place on September 23, 2026, in Times Square, New York City, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, under the theme:

Building a Government-Intelligent World.

The launch will bring together leaders from government, business, diplomacy, academia, civil society and the global community as GQ begins its journey from a book into a broader global discipline, learning framework and community of practice.

GQ Nigeria Edition

As part of the next phase of the framework’s development, Phillips Consulting (pcl) has secured the rights to the GQ Nigeria Edition, bringing the global framework into Nigeria’s institutional and leadership context.

Phillips Consulting is licensed to facilitate the GQ Certification Workshop – Nigeria Edition, translating the intellectual foundation of the book into practical learning, assessment and certification for leaders and professionals.

The book introduces the intelligence. The workshop builds the capability. The certification creates the practitioner.

Culture › LAGASA Indigenes Protest The Imposition Of Stranger As Oba by Amberly01(op): 7:41am On Aug 12
Indigenous people of Lagasa Community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, have called on the Lagos State Governor to urgently intervene over the alleged plan to impose a person they describe as a stranger as the Oba of Lagasa.

The matter has generated serious tension and anger among those who identify themselves as the original indigenes of the community, prompting calls for urgent government intervention to calm the situation and prevent a possible communal crisis.

The Oyinubi Ogunga Baruwa Odofin Chieftaincy Family maintains that the Odofin family are the customary indigenes and ancestral landowners of Lagasa, with their history in the community dating back several centuries. The family further asserts that the Odofin institution is historically recognised across Ibeju and reflected in relevant Lagos State records and gazettes.

Speaking during a peaceful demonstration at the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Olalekan Odofin said:

“Our forefathers founded Lagasa several centuries ago, and the Odofin family has remained an established traditional institution in Ibeju-Lekki to this day. Lagasa Community has always been the ancestral territory of the Odofin family, and this is reflected in Lagos State records and gazettes.

“We were therefore shocked to learn of plans to install as Oba of Lagasa someone from a family we regard as customary tenants whom our forefathers accommodated in the community. We had no prior knowledge of this process and only became aware of it at the last minute.

“We have serious concerns about the roles allegedly being played by certain individuals and officials, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and some traditional chiefs in Ibeju-Lekki, in relation to the proposed installation of Adeleke Nosir Yisa Ogundare Daodu as Oba of Lagasa.

“We are therefore using this medium to appeal directly to Mr. Governor to intervene and ensure that all parties are heard. We ask the government to independently investigate the history, customary ownership and traditional structure of Lagasa Community before any irreversible decision is taken. All we seek is a fair hearing.”

The family further alleged that the paramount ruler of Ibeju-Lekki, the Oni Ibeju, had previously acknowledged the historical connection of the Odofin family to Lagasa. They therefore expressed surprise at reports that the traditional ruler had recently endorsed Adeleke Nosir Yisa Ogundare Daodu for the stool without, according to them, prior consultation with the Odofin family.

The concerned indigenes are appealing to the Lagos State Government to urgently intervene, hear all sides and establish the historical and customary facts surrounding the dispute.

They maintained that timely intervention by the government would help restore confidence, calm rising tensions and prevent the disagreement from escalating into a communal conflict that could threaten lives, property and the peace of Lagasa Community.

The Directorate of Ethnic Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Lagos State, has held a meeting with ethnic group leaders and coordinators across the state as part of preparations for activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held on Friday, August 7, 2026, brought together the State Executive Council, directors, deputy directors and coordinators representing various ethnic groups in Lagos State.

Delivering the keynote address, Barr. Ademola Sadiq expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, led by Hon. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, for the appointments and confidence placed in members of the Directorate of Ethnic Affairs.

Proposed Activities

Among the proposals discussed at the meeting was increased participation in political and organisational activities at the ward, local government and state levels, subject to the relevant timetable and plans.

The directorate also proposed the designation of an “All Ethnic Groups Rally” at ward, local government and state levels to provide a platform for members of different ethnic communities to participate collectively in organised activities.

Another proposal was a programme of visits to ethnic groups across Lagos State's 20 local government areas. He further stressed the importance of maintaining communication with grassroots members and ensuring that local structures remain active and organised ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

The meeting concluded with a call for coordinators and ethnic group leaders to return to their respective local government areas and wards to strengthen their structures and prepare for forthcoming activities.
