PoliticsOkereke-onyuike, Attah, Others Drum Support For Obama by andyluc(op):
Africans at home and in the Diaspora have been urged to mobilise support for the United States Democratic National Convention’s presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama, in order to ensure his victory in the November 4 election.

At an event organised by a group, Africans for Obama 2008, in Lagos on Friday, the Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Dr. Ndi Okereke-Onyuike, said the move had become imperative to actualise the election of Obama as the next US president.

She stressed that as the world was gradually becoming a global village, with the US playing a leadership role, the need to have someone that would formulate positive policies favourable to the development of Africa had become necessary. At the event, which attracted top officials of the NSE, the business community and representatives of the political class, Okereke-Onyuike noted that the support for the candidate was a historic initiative which all Africans should support.

Dignitaries who graced the event included former the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah; the factional chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, Dr. Olapade Agoro; a professor of medicine resident in Germany, Edwin Scott-Asemota; and the Assistant DG of the NSE, Mr. Lance Elakama.

According to Attah, the feelings of Africans on who becomes the next president of the US is very important because the US takes the opinion of other continents into consideration
