Eight passengers and a driver escaped death by the whiskers on Tuesday September 8, after a huge tree branch broke off from its trunk and fell on their vehicle in Calabar, Cross River.


The incident which occurred at the Beebosco junction involved a mini bus that was conveying seven passengers along the Murtala Mohammed Highway.

According to reports from the scene, the driver, Blessing Eyo Nsa is said to have stopped to drop a passenger when the unfortunate incident happened. No passenger is said to have sustained any physical injury while the driver lamented over his damaged vehicle.


The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Mfon Bassey Mfon, who arrived the scene, confirmed it was “an accident.”

The incident hindered free flow of vehicles but men of Nigeria Police Force arrived on time to prevent traffic jam.

Big Brother housemates engaged themselves in a rap battle last night and during the battle, Dorathy and Vee threw shades at each other.
The brain behind the rap battle night was Kiddwaya. He started the rap battle with Laycon and gradually, other housemates joined them in the dissing game.


The activity was going smoothly until Dorathy used her rap to shade Vee that she doesn’t have edges on her hair. Vee in response body shamed Dorathy.


She stated that Dorathy’s head tends to be bigger than her body. Vee went as far as saying she can fit in her fat toes into Dora’s wide gap teeth.

Vee similarly used the opportunity to shade her love partner, Neo.

She didn’t hold back with Neo and took the opportunity to tell the world the size of his manhood.

Meanwhile Neo has made it a personal quest to get back with his estranged romantic partner, Vee.

Vee and Neo ended their relationship for the second time on Saturday night.

She insisted that she is not reconciling with him and asked that they remain friends till they leave the house.

The Naira on Thursday gained one point to appreciate against the dollar at the parallel market in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the Naira exchanged at N439 to a dollar at the parallel market in Lagos, while Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N580 and N495 respectively.
Investors at the investor’s window traded the naira at N386.25 to a dollar as market turnover stood at 92.18 million dollars.

However, the naira was sold at 379 to a dollar at the official Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) window.
NAN reports that the planned sale of foreign exchange to Bureau De Change Operators nationwide has sent panic to the camp of speculators, thus leading to the rebounding of the naira at the parallel market.

officially flagged off the campaign of its candidate, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for the October 10 gubernatorial election in Akure.
Tinubu while addressing the party members and supporters in Akure said the PDP stands no chance in the forthcoming election.
“ You don’t fight the PDP. There is no point fight a corpse inside the coffin, just settle down and calmly nail their coffin, ” the party chieftain said.
The former governor of Lagos State urged the people of the state to support Governor Akeredolu to continue leading the state.
He said, “Unity and adherence to collective purpose are hallmarks of progressive politics. Our ability to place the public welfare above our personal ambitions is what differentiates us from the political regressives who would rather that the general welfare suffer so they can fulfill their personal whims and wishes.”

“As progressives, we must carefully tend to our bridge of unity. We must never allow it to break. We entered politics and governance to serve the people and this purpose should always bind us in ceaseless fraternity and togetherness.
Tinubu, who had earlier met with traditional rulers in the state urged the monarchs to work for the APC governorship candidate in the election.

The Nigeria Police, Bauchi State Command has confirmed the arrest of an alleged serial rapist, Yusuf Bako who reportedly raped a four years old girl in a mosque
According to a press statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Ahmed Wakil, Bauchi police team rescued Bako from an angry mob after he had sustained various degrees of injuries.
“On the 03/09/2020 at about 11:30hrs, one Jamilu Abdullahi ‘M’ of Igbo quarters reported at the Township Police Station that on same date at about 09:20hrs that angry mob were beating an unknown person at Aminu street, after which a team of police officers moved to the scene and rescued the suspect with various degree of injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.[url]

Two yet to be identified young lovers have reportedly committed Suicide in Okija, Anambra State because their parents refused to allow them to get married.

In a suicide note that was found beside their dead bodies, they expressed displeasure over what they tagged “Racism in disguise.”

It could be deduced from their suicide note that their parents forbade them from getting married to each other.


The suicide note which was posted by a Twitter user @harrisonmbamara, reads;

“How can we separate after 6 solid years of dating and getting used to each other, Is it a crime to hail from Okija, Anambra state?

We are both are from Okija in ihiala local government area, Anambra State, Nigeria.

We have already wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, we have already planned our future together.

We have already struggled to secure a better future together, now that things are gradually turning around for us, they are saying we can’t get married, all because of Osu caste, all because of an ancient belief that has been abolished in other villages.

The people of Okija choose to live in the past all as a result of ignorance that God created everyone equally.

So why would human beings discriminate just because of the ignorance of our forefathers, why will we keep suffering for what we know nothing about, for something we didn’t do.

The Federal Government on Thursday told state governments and school administrators to be prepared for the full reopening of schools.
This is as a result of decline in COVID-19 infections across the nation.
National Coordinator, Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, at a briefing in Abuja said the full reopening of schools should be done in phases.

Aliyu said for educational institutions which include daycare, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, they should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening within this phase.
