5 mind-boggling revelations from Obasanjo’s ‘My Watch’
5. Tinubu was one of the most corrupt, of the 36 governors
Obasanjo never got along too well with former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu, and unsurprisingly, Tinubu got a mention in the former’s book.
Obasanjo revealed that then EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu tried to investigate almost all the state governors during his tenure but that of the 28 confirmed to be manifestly corrupt or tainted one way or the other, Tinubu’s case was one of the worst.
Lagos — ABIA State governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and his Lagos State counterpart, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not escape justice but would be made to face the full wrath of the law following their recent indictment for alleged corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Chairman of the commission Mallam Nuhu Ribadu who made the vow yesterday said the duo must account for their stewardship and may be thrown out of office.

Who brought Buhari upon us in 2015, after making him cry four years earlier, by calling him expired as he tried to make kachalla Ribadu president to stop Jonathan from continuing PDP prosperity and cheap petrol in 2011?

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun made this known at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. Mr. Edun said that the benefit of the subsidy removal will be plough back into various sectors to improve business environment for local and foreign investment. He added that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.
Ofunaofu: Report: Current Govt Added More Debt in Two Years Than Nigeria Accumulated in 55 Years
• Decries Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio
•Urges FG to declare fiscal emergency
A new policy brief has warned that Nigeria’s worsening debt profile and weak revenue generation have pushed the country into a dangerous fiscal position, with the current administration accumulating more debt in two years than Nigeria recorded during its first 55 years after independence.
The report, released by the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, a Nigerian policy think tank, argued that the country’s debt crisis has evolved into a governance and revenue emergency, as debt servicing obligations now exceed the federal government’s retained earnings. > > According to the think tank, Nigeria’s public debt rose sharply from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by the end of 2025, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration accounting for about N65.9 trillion of the increase within its first two years in office.
The organisation in the brief titled: “Nigeria Is Borrowing to Breathe—and the Clock Is Ticking”, noted that Nigeria accumulated only about N12.06 trillion in debt from independence in 1960 up to 2015, meaning the current administration added more than five times that amount in just 24 months.
The report stated that while previous governments also contributed significantly to the country’s rising debt burden, the speed of accumulation under the current administration had intensified concerns over fiscal sustainability.
“President Bola Tinubu’s administration has added a further N65.9 trillion in just two years. To put that in perspective: it took Nigeria’s first 55 years of independence to accumulate N12 trillion in debt. The current administration has added more than five times that amount in 24 months,” it argued.
It recalled that Nigeria briefly became almost debt-free externally after the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo secured an $18 billion Paris Club debt relief package in 2005 and paid $12 billion to extinguish about $30 billion in external obligations.

PigTormentor: Tinubu is smart enough to know that returning thr subsidy is like moving back in reverse. He will never do that.

anonimi: NNPCL’s subsidy payment jump by 47.9% to N7.1trn in 2024
November 26, 2025
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) paid a total of N7.1 trillion as subsidy for premium motor spirit (PMS) in 2024, this sum represents a 47.9 percent increase from N4.8 trillion recorded in 2023.
This is despite the government’s announcement of subsidy removal in 2023.
The company explained that the amount, which it termed ‘energy security expense’ arises when there is differential between the exchange rate used to freeze the premium motor spirit ex-coastal price and the prevailing rate at the point of import settlement.
According to the report, government had instructed that NNPC Limited cannot sell its PMS above a certain regulated price. It added that the cost of petrol import is usually much higher that the regulated price.
9jatriot: Always throwing lamba to your unintelligent fans. You claim heaven did not fall, but your forget to mention that we maxed out our loans, pledged future crude explorations for loans, maxed that out too
Dull Bola has done worse on everything, including the use of future oil sales to borrow SPV loans to defend the Naira, so that the master strategist can get his N300/$1 goal in the short term after hitting the ground running in May 2023!
Nigeria will pay an interest of 11.85 percent per annum on the $3.3 billion “pre-export finance facility” (PxF) facilitated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd and arranged by Afrexim Bank, TheCable can report.
Until now, the fine details of the transaction, which has a five-year tenor, had been withheld by all parties involved.
A similar cocoa-backed $800 million facility arranged for Ghana by its cocoa marketing board attracts an interest of 8 percent per annum.
Bilateral lenders, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), would typically charge 1-3 percent with a longer tenor.
In the details seen by TheCable, Nigeria pledged a total of 164.25 million barrels of crude oil — at 90,000 barrels per day — starting from 2024 to repay the loan through Project Gazelle Funding Ltd, an “orphan” special purpose vehicle (SPV) incorporated in Bahamas for the PxF.
Effectively, the NNPC has pledged 38.58 percent of five years’ worth of tax and royalty oil to secure the loan. > > > ‘DOLLAR LIQUIDITY TO STABILISE THE NAIRA’
The national oil company announced in August 2023 that the PxF was to support the federal government “in its ongoing fiscal and monetary policy reforms aimed at stabilizing the exchange rate market”, describing it as “a relief for the naira”.
It called the facility “crude oil repayment” with an upfront cash loan “against proceeds from a limited amount of future crude oil production”.
At the time, the dollar exchanged for an average of N775 in the official market and N885 on the streets.
The rates have now moved to N1,035/$ (official) and N1,230/$ (parallel).

anonimi: Wike lobbied PDP committee to be Atiku’s running mate – Ex-gov’ship aspirant
Thu, 29 Sep 2022 14:33:04 WAT
Muazu Magaji, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State, has alleged that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, lobbied members of the party’s committee constituted to advise the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the choice of his running mate.
Magaji disclosed this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, on Thursday.
The Kano politician also argued that there was no proof that Atiku promised Wike the vice president position as claimed.
The PDP committee had recommended the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and Wike.
The committee, however, scored Wike above the other two contenders but Atiku decided to settle for Okowa. A decision that has since unsettled Wike’s camp.
Magaji, however, claimed that Wike lobbied to be scored ahead of others, adding that the Rivers State governor should not be trusted with important positions in the country.
2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury
Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.
One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.
Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.
ddippset: Says a man who hijacked the party and singlehandedly produced the last 4 National Chairmen of the party for his own selfishness.
Says a man who accepted nomination to be running mate to Fulani Atiku. He knew it was injustice to give Atiku the ticket yet he lobbied to be the VP.
He knew the party had to go South for the 2023 election, yet he still put Secondus as National Chaiman just to hijack the party.. Only to push Secondus out because he wanted the ticket 2023.
This man remains the biggest problem of PDP.
He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.
Image123: That's what makes Tinubu different from you and your mentors. You see his mentees, followers and protégés following and growing for decades with him.
Why has Lagos failed to grow with him in basic services and utilities despite increasing budget 100 times to N4.2 trillion in 27 years, from higher tax and debt burden on Lagosians?
Why is Nigeria getting worse with his stagflation policies despite saving billions of dollars in subsidies saved and borrowing more than PDP presidents who gave us cheap petrol and used deregulation and privatisation schemes to grow our economy to the biggest in Africa?

Tinubu must not be elected for a second term
Is that the money illusion of stagflation Atiku spoke about, which dull Bola has created with his palliative sharing policies instead of creating jobs promised?
Why has Tinubu failed in 27 years of his master plan growing budget 100 times to N4.2 trillion, from increasing IGR squeezed out of greater tax burden on people, to achieve a tiny fraction of what progressive UPN governor Jakande did in just four years?
Is it not ironic that Buhari jailed Jakande for corruption in 1984 but handed over power to the most corrupt rogue 39 years later?
Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

Is that true for every other jobless Nigerian whose numbers have risen since 3015, and sharply since 2023 because of Tinubu, Buhari and APC destructive policies that have ruined the country and caused the economy to crash to 4th place in Africa?
How does this change the truth about Peter Obi and his tribalistic politics of fraudulent packaging
NLCreator: Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.
There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.
Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.
The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.
While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.
“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.
“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.
“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”
Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.
Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."
While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.
He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

PDP unleashed unprecedented economic growth in 16 years to make Nigeria the biggest economy in Africa with low unemployment and increased REAL wages, before the balablu bulaba master strategist of corruption and cluelessness brought in Buhari to destroy everything.
If Tinubu truly removed subsidy then why is he borrowing more than PDP presidents, even though roads are worse, just like everything else in the dullard’s administration?

lexylaw40: The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale, on Wednesday stated that the “President-elect” Bola Tinubu asked popular economist, Prof Pat Utomi to step down for Peter Obi in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
Akinwale made this revelation while he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on 101.7 YES FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that Obi received campaign funds from Utomi, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."
The LP aspirant, who spoke in Yoruba language, said "In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.
"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.
"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.
"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.
Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.
The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.

Can the NELFUND budget total funds cover all the students impacted by Tinubu’s hyperinflation fee increase in schools?
Most tertiary institutions in the country have hiked their fees by over 150 %, putting serious strains on the finances of parents and guardians who also have to contend with the poor state of the economy which has reduced purchasing power and savings.
Checks by Vanguard Learning in public universities across the country show that the increment in obligatory fees, which started late last year is continuing, as a new session starts in some schools this January.
Only on January 6, this year, for instance, the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Ondo State came out with a proposal to hike fees by over 100%.

Kalvan50: You’ve said all that needs to be said. Hate or love Tinubu, you have to give him his props for having the balls to give the Nigerian economy the painful but necessary medicine it needs. The problem with this country is that too many leaders and citizens have passed the buck for years, leaving problems for future generations to confront, in other words embracing short term thinking. I can’t blame them too much because this is the only life we have, and having years of it truncated due to the effects of bad governance must be debilitating, but something has to change and the road to lasting change is rarely painless. Especially after years of poor decisions.
What painful medicine is this illegal payment of subsidies to importers of fuel from APC’s Malta blending plants, while prices are hiked instead of being crashed below N185 promised, as dull Bola labours in vain to destroy the private refinery PDP licensed to Dangote 14 years ago?

According to the report, government had instructed that NNPC Limited cannot sell its PMS above a certain regulated price. It added that the cost of petrol import is usually much higher that the regulated price.
HenryThegreat1: Aliko Dangote, the president of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has strongly refuted allegations by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA), insisting its diesel is 80percent superior to those currently imported into Nigeria.
The richest man in Africa said this Saturday while showing members of the House of Reps the company’s facilities.
“Until late last year, diesel imports into Nigeria were up to 7,000 parts per million (ppm) of Sulphur which has been going on for many years. Our diesel is produced currently at significantly lower levels of Sulphur; as such, we find baseless the allegation that the reason for the reduction is linked to quality. What we are producing is 80 percent of what is being imported into the country,” Anthony Chiejine, the company’s spokesperson Dangote Industries Limited said.

“Another inaccurate assertion is that Medium Level Sulphur diesel is meant for off-road use. This is a completely false statement as this would have invariably meant that all the imports for the last 20 years have been damaging equipment.
“Thirdly, diesel imports for the high Sulphur grade have been at significantly higher prices until we started operation. If indeed high Sulphur diesel is sold at lower prices how come we never saw the lower prices until now?” the spokesperson said.

Dangote proved through a laboratory test before members of the House of Reps, led by Tajudeen Abbas how the sulphur content of its diesel is within acceptable range in Africa and better than some of diesel currently available in the country.
Dangote diesel currently contains 87.6 ppm
For instance, Dangote’s laboratory officials tested diesel products from two major retail outlets in Nigeria – TotalEnergies and Matrix – against the sample produced by Dangote Refinery.
The test was carried out using a ED-XRF Spectro Photometer, using the ASTM D4294 method.
The sample from TotalEnergies’s diesel showed 1,829ppm sulphur concentration. The sample from Matrix retail showed 2,2752.8682ppm sulphur concentration while the diesel sample from Dangote Refinery showed 87.6ppm sulphur concentration.
Targets 10ppm sulphur content August
“By the end of next week, we should be on 50ppm and by August, it should be down to 10ppm,” Dangote said.
BusinessDay’s findings showed the minimum global standard is 50ppm, while 200ppm is still acceptable in Africa till the end of the year.
On Thursday, July 18, Farouk Ahmed, chief executive officer of NMDPRA alleged Dangote refinery as well as some major refineries like Waltersmith refinery, produce between 650 to 1200 ppm.
VOsimhen144: I will be campaigning harder for Peter Obi until the end of the 2027 elections. He might win, they might not let him win, but I just want to clear my conscience that I stood for what's right, that I did the right thing, even if he doesn't win.
You should do same. Stand for what's right. God bless Nigeria.
What is right is the message of 2019 from Obi.
What has changed since then, apart from tribalistic rotation and zoning of the national cake sharing scheme, which is not used in the places where Obi hides money from the taxman?
anonimi: The Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Peter Obi has advised Nigerians not to allow few politicians determine the future of the country but see themselves as stakeholders by being actively involved in the forthcoming general election.
Mr. Peter Obi stated this while addressing members of the Igbo Community in Benin on why Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should be elected as president.
discusant: When or how did Buhari blame Igbos for the crime of Buhari's Fulani herdsmen? Buhari only sponsored some set of Nigerians, including Asari D to destabilize Igbo land and blame it on IPOB people.
