So what is your point please
If he is not obliged to give, then he should keep his loot and stop asking to be made government again.
wellmax: Is there an expiry date to your fullishness?
Please how much of your own fullishness are you using to pay the subsidy per litre of petrol, forced on Nigerians since 2015, because of massive corruption in APC’s oil sector?
Abi, you have been buying petrol for less than N70 with your own membership card of All Promises Cancelled, APC
anonimi: Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC
January 19, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.
On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.
But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.
It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.
ibedun: Most if not all developed countries have the advantages of homogeneity - go and check it out.
In the case of China and Russia - they have a dominant group at the centre of their governance. Such a dominant group does not exist in Nigeria.
Nigeria will unravel by itself naturally by common sense as each group gets wiser and protective, and reject subjugation, dominance, cheating and encroachment. The south will scatter first and then go north.
So why are you not working on this project for one group to dominate the rest of the groups in Nigeria?
Moreover, why won’t the hundreds of groups in each region compete for dominance over and over again in trying to reject subjugation, cheating and encroachment?
Is that not how things have turned out for South Sudan and Sudan?
By the way, Somalia is homogenous yet the country is a failed state.
Finally, why did Europeans fight different wars of dominance until 1945, despite being homogenous? How are Russians not homogenous with Ukrainians, such that they are at war? And the Arabs in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon etc?
We have to stop making excuses for our failure to develop and get to work.
ibedun: Oyinbo went through everything we are going through today, certainly from 00AD to 1850 just before our slavery spurred the industrial revolution.
Our country is not one naturally and will never be one. Once we sort this problem out development will begin.
What works are you doing to sort out this problem so development can begin?
Abi you are waiting for 1850 years to pass before the problem is sorted out just by the passage of time only?
NewHe: The same court that compel INEC to register NDC by force without meeting all requirements? Hey, Nigeria are on to a great surprise! A #National_Leader is working behind the scene for Tinubu!

iwaeda: Wike Boasts Of Helping APC Use Judiciary To Kill Osun LG Funds Case, Warns Party Leaders Against Ingratitude
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly boasted that he assisted certain elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in deploying the judiciary to frustrate the Osun State local government allocation lawsuit.
In a video now circulating widely on social media and obtained by SaharaReporters, Wike made the claim while addressing a crowd in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The former Rivers governor accused the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, of benefitting from judicial actions against the Osun State Government without knowing those who did the work behind the scenes.
The suit in question led to the withholding of local government funds in Osun State, a development widely seen as targeting the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as opposition in the state.
Wike, who spoke angrily, suggested that the court action supporting the APC’s position against the Osun government did not happen by chance, boasting that powerful political forces worked quietly to ensure the outcome.
“Don’t take our support for Mr President for granted,” Wike warned, in an apparent message to APC leaders defending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “You have to be careful about the statements you make. You have to be very careful.”
He accused Basiru of political ingratitude, claiming the APC was enjoying in Osun State without understanding who engineered their advantage.
“Today, you are enjoying in Osun. You don’t know those who did the work,” Wike said. “You are opening your mouth to talk about Rivers State.”
Will our celebrities be ever wise enough to rally support persistently for a worthy cause like awareness campaign on liver cancer that killed Alex Ekubo recently?
Abi we should continue relying on our oyinbo racist "superiors" to bail us out on such matters
The same oyinbos some still blame for our enduring underdevelopment, almost seven decades after we told the colonialists that we can do well on our own independent of them.
Dpharmacist: The reported shocking and tragic death of popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo at just 40 years old has sent shockwaves across Nigeria and beyond, with reports suggesting the actor had been privately battling cancer before his passing.
While some reports mention liver cancer and others suggest kidney cancer, one painful reality remains clear: Many deadly diseases destroy the body silently long before symptoms become obvious.
For many Nigerians, this tragedy is becoming more than celebrity news. It is now a wake up call.
Across social media, thousands of people have started discussing a growing health crisis affecting younger Nigerians: Late diagnosis.
Too many people still avoid routine medical checkups until serious symptoms appear: Yellow eyes. Swollen stomach. Severe weakness. Vomiting blood. Rapid weight loss.
By then, treatment becomes harder, more expensive and sometimes too late.
Medical experts have repeatedly warned that liver diseases especially Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C remain major risk factors for liver cancer in Nigeria. These infections can quietly damage the liver for years without obvious symptoms.
Other major risk factors include: • Excessive alcohol use • Smoking • Obesity and fatty liver disease • Unsafe sex • Self medication and drug abuse • Unsafe herbal mixtures • Poorly stored foods contaminated with toxins • Lack of routine medical screening
Health professionals also warn that many Nigerians normalize dangerous habits because “nothing seems wrong” at the moment.
But liver damage is often silent in its early stages.
One of the biggest conversations sparked by the actor’s death is how many young Africans appear healthy publicly while secretly battling severe illnesses privately.
Several online users also pointed to deeper systemic problems: Poor healthcare access, expensive treatment, fake drugs, weak preventive healthcare culture, and widespread dependence on self medication.
The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for: • Regular medical checkups • Hepatitis testing and vaccination • Better health awareness • Reduced alcohol and drug abuse • Earlier hospital visits before complications develop
Because sometimes, the body whispers for years before it screams.
She has seen better change but she and her husband gave Nigerians APC extreme poverty and insecurity shege, fraudulently packaged as change 11 years ago.
How do we avoid such fraudulent people in our country
BeeBeeOoh: The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian youths to be hard-working, saying, “There is no food for lazy man.”
Mrs Tinubu said this during a courtesy visit to the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Thursday.
She noted that while the Tinubu-led administration is working hard to provide sustainable solutions to the current challenges facing the country, Nigerians should also work hard to provide for themselves.
The first lady maintained that the government will do all it takes to ensure that Nigerians are not disappointed and called for patience with Tinubu’s administration.
Mrs Tinubu said: “There is no food for the lazy man; even God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day.
“Nigeria is a land that’s flowing with milk and honey, but we need to sustain it for generations to come.
“God has richly blessed my family before getting to the presidency and we are content with what we have.
“What is happening in the country, we are just two years into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation. We are trying to fix and secure the future.
“I have embarked on several journeys but it seems that people are not seeing what God is doing in the land. Nations across the globe want to do business with us, legally, on the table. There is a government in power now that they know it is accountable.
“We are trying all our efforts to ensure that the economy is stabilised and the masses are living meaningful lives since the removal of fuel subsidy.”

Racoon: Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.
Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.
His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993
It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.
Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’
EponObi: Obi won all the states in 2023 and it was rigged.
Obi was rigged for 100% win in most tribalistic SE, for the indirect benefit of Tinubu's turn to make APC extreme poverty and insecurity shege worse.
jameshankss: Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”
Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.
He stated, “The current fleeting frenzy, if not checked, will cost Ndigbo dearly for years. The South-east has the lowest number of votes of any region, but it is also the only region where the presidential race might be a four-way race (it is a two-way race in the other five regions) thereby, ensuring that our votes won’t count in the making of the next president of Nigeria.
There is a reason why the political master strategist who has held Lagosians in waterless bondage since 1999, set up Utomi to cage Obi in communist LP labourers camp.
Is it not interesting how unstable, unreliable, unprincipled, party-hopping Utomi was ADC's first presidential candidate in 2007
lexylaw40: The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale, on Wednesday stated that the “President-elect” Bola Tinubu asked popular economist, Prof Pat Utomi to step down for Peter Obi in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
Akinwale made this revelation while he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on 101.7 YES FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that Obi received campaign funds from Utomi, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."
The LP aspirant, who spoke in Yoruba language, said "In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.
"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.
"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.
"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.
Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.
The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.
If we are adequately concerned about others in a systematic manner, won't our celebrities and his family lead others in a persistent way to create more awareness about what killed him, so as to prevent other deaths, including those in their own family and friends circle
Should we wait for oyinbos to do it for us, as we usually do, while ironically calling them racists responsible for the perpetual underdevelopment of our country and continent

aduboy: Anambra distributes 177 vehicles to traditional rulers
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, on Monday in Awka, distributed one SUV each to the traditional rulers of the 177 communities in the state.
Obi handed over one of the vehicles’ key to the state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha.
He said that the gesture was aimed at helping them run and build better communities, adding that the vehicles would also help the traditional rulers to function effectively.
“If you have better communities, you will have a better Anambra, Anambra today is changing for better and I want this sustained,” the governor said.
“In doing that, the state government and the local government will do what it can to support the building of a better Anambra.”
Achebe said that he was overjoyed because the governor cared about the well-being and welfare of the traditional rulers.
“It is completely unprecedented in Anambra and probably elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said.
“It is a mighty gesture from the governor and for the government of the state to make a distinct impact on the well-being of the traditional rulers in the state.”
According to him, it was one of the several measures the present administration in the state had taken to improve the wellbeing of the traditional rulers.
“We pray that God will give us a successor that will continue from where Obi has left and lift Anambra to the next level.”
NLCreator: Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.
There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.
Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.
The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.
While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.
“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.
“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.
“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”
Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

Were those diseases what killed Anambrarians when Obi allowed doctors go on strike for 13 months
anonimi: Anambra doctors call off strike after 13 months February 28, 2012
After over a year of down tools, Anambra State Government employed medical doctors have finally called of strike. According to Dr. Emma Ekwesianya, Chairman Anambra State chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), the striking doctors decided to pick up tools again because of the plight of the ordinary people in the societ. “It is true, we have called off the strike. We have just signed the agreement with government about an hour ago. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) signed for the government. A technical committee, headed by Prof. O.O. Mbonu was set up to execute the agreement.” He confirmed.
“We decided to take the 60 per cent offered by government because of our people. Government has been rigid and we do not want to continue with the rigidity of government. We are serving the people, not government and our people are suffering.” Speaking further, Ekwesianya, revealed that a technical committee, headed by Prof. O.O. Mbonu had also been set up by the association to see to the implementation of the agreement with government sequel to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Peter Obi-led government on Monday.
Chief Medical Director, Anambra State University Teaching Hospital (ASUTH), Amaku, Awka, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor also confirmed the new development: “Well I’m happy to tell you that the strike has been amicably resolved, even though, like you said, it’s been a prolonged one but suffice it to say that it has been resolved and the doctors have resumed work.” “The call off was yesterday (Sunday). The doctors had some negotiations and held their congress yesterday, during which they agreed to call off the strike. So they resumed duty today. They are in their clinic. Well, I was not privy to the agreement but I will say that our representatives were satisfied with the arrangement, hence they decided to call off the strike.” He disclosed.
Lifestone: Try and read before coming to comment and state where the policy paper accused the current government. The paper is challenging the decade long systemic leakages in our Federation Account Remittances and I completely agreed with him
You guys should allow this policy paper to survive. Let's have sincere contributions
Please what other government was in charge of Nigeria in 2024 and 2025
brutustech: ₦20 TRILLION IS MISSING FROM NIGERIA'S FEDERATION ACCOUNT.
In 2025 alone, according to the World Bank's Nigeria Development Update, ₦14.94 TRILLION of federation revenue was "deducted" before it ever reached the Federation Account. That is 39% — nearly two-fifths — of what Nigeria earned, gone before any state or LGA saw a single kobo.
In 2024, NNPCL — Nigeria's biggest revenue generator — was supposed to remit ₦1.1 trillion to the Federation Account. It remitted ₦600 billion. Where is the ₦500 billion? There is currently an active FAAC investigation into allegations that NNPCL under-remitted $42.37 BILLION between 2011 and 2017. At today's exchange rate, that is roughly ₦12.91 trillion. For perspective, that is more than our entire 2024 federal budget. From one company. Over six years. And remember, these are just the leakages we know about.
MEANWHILE, WE ARE DROWNING IN DEBT
Nigeria's total public debt at the end of 2025 was ₦159.27 TRILLION (Debt Management Office, February 2026). In 2023, debt service consumed 78% of federal revenue. In 2024, it consumed 69%. The IMF and World Bank recommend countries keep debt service to 30–40% of revenue. We are nearly double that benchmark. Out of every ₦1 the federal government earned last year, almost 70 kobo went to paying back loans. That leaves 30 kobo for everything else: hospitals, schools, roads, police, military, civil service salaries, infrastructure, and security— for 220 million Nigerians.
And what are we borrowing for? In large part, we are borrowing to fund services that our OWN revenues — if they actually reached the Federation Account — should be funding. Let that sink in. We are borrowing money, at interest, to replace money we already earned but never collected properly.
This is why fuel is expensive. This is why school fees doubled. This is why your salary buys less every month. This is why hospitals have no drugs. This is why universities are always on strike. This is not corruption in the abstract. This is a constitutional account that has been broken for 25 years. Section 162 of the Constitution created the Federation Account in 1999. But the Constitution did not say: • Who is supposed to keep the account safely? • How quickly money must be remitted after collection • Who audits the account? • What happens if you steal from it? • Whether the public is allowed to see the records
Twenty-five years of silence on these questions has allowed every kind of administrative trick to take root. Agencies deduct "management fees" before remitting. NNPCL retains "costs" before paying in. Some agencies open unauthorised sub-accounts. Some collect cash and never remit. The 2023 House of Representatives investigation found that ₦8.7 trillion passed through the Treasury Single Account but agencies had proliferated unauthorised parallel accounts the whole time.
The Minister of Finance HERSELF admitted in 2024 that until August of that year, the federal government could not fully see its own balance sheet. Read that line again. In 2024, the people running the country could not see all the money the country had.
1.To encourage family planning 2.To educate their people 3.To curb Almanjiri system 4.To stop weaponizing their people illiteracy and poverty for politics 5.To stop their porous border from allowing free movement of people.(You are not a Nigerian simply because you are fulani and can speak hausa) 6.To stop politicizing insecurity
How better are southerners than northerners in this shithole country of extreme poverty paupers with the highest number of school children out of school?
Are we southerners not exporting ourselves abroad to avoid drinking water from shitty boreholes just like the looters we hail as leaders, in our tribalistic turn by turn zoning and rotation schemes for public office at the local, state and federal levels
What's with two impotent chaps competing for the biggest tool?
500 gallons of water go for N20k. Multiply by 4 in a month, that's N80k. By extrapolation, that's N960k in a year on water alone. Why? Because the governor believes that clean and accessible water is the least of his worries. Yet they prance around like Enugu is Abuja even though the red muddy soil will have residents looking like they went tomb-raiding at night.
But then, considering where it was before Peter Mba, one can understand the accolades being that he moved the town from 16th Century to 17th Century but not anywhere near 20th Century. 21st Century is a stretch. EEDC? The worst of all.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”
While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.
He said, “On waste water treatment, I will say that everyone digging borehole within the Lekki axis is probably drinking what I will call ‘shit water.’
Yampotatocarrot: Mr. Atiku, a lot of Nigerians have died under the same circumstances. Their own death shows what?
So na senator own come mean say Tinubu is a failure?
What did Deborah's death mean to you?
What did Deborah's death mean to Tinubu, who Atiku is trying to replace with better PDP deregulation and privatisation policies for widespread prosperity, high employment and less criminality from idle hands
What’s stopping Tinubu, the President with all the state machinery and power he has to go after these people and damn the consequences?
Oh. He can’t. Because he’s a coward and he’s scared of death.
Was he a coward and scared of death when he failed to say anything about Deborah's death in Sokoto?
Or he is just a self-serving looter of the worst kind, who betrays everyone to get his dubious goal of turn by turn corruption
anonimi: My dad, victim of complex conspiracy – Kola Abiola
What role did Bola Tinubu play in all of these?
At the very beginning, he was part of the Yar’Adua PF group from Jos. He was a senator then, and as far as the group went, we related. The crisis started post-election. When Abacha came, one of the things he wanted to do was to be the administrator for Lagos.
That is Tinubu?
Yes. I am sure you have seen pictures of him and my dad. He was hoping that there would be civilian administrators like we had under IBB but Abacha said no, that he was going to have military administrators. So he (Tinubu) said okay, in that case, can I be a deputy administrator? But Abacha said that there wouldn’t be deputies. Then he wanted the post of a commissioner.
He wanted to be a commissioner?
Yes. Then it was a choice between him and someone very close to Jakande who has passed on now. I can’t remember his name, but because Babagana was already in the government, that guy was picked as commissioner. But really, Senator Tinubu had lost out already.
Was Tinubu very close to MKO?
Yes, he was close enough. He and Adeniyi Adele, a very good guy, were close to my father. In fact, Adeniyi was closer to my father and more dedicated to the process than anyone of them. When my documentary comes out, you will see Tinubu’s take on issues. So once he lost out, automatically, he became a NADECO member and Adeniyi was incarcerated.
yemmight: Atiku is talking craps. Are you not the people that created bandits and Boko Haram/?
Are you the people who are sponsoring them?
Can there be a greater sponsor of bandits and Boko Haram than Tinubu and his vice that was the governor of Borno the home of Boko Haram terrorists
EkoIle1: It is now abundantly clear that President Jonathan has finally bared his fangs confirming what was widely speculated. By declaring a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, he has intimidated and emasculated the governors of these States. We are witnessing a dangerous trend in the art of governance and a deliberate ploy to subvert constitutional democracy.
The body language of the Jonathan administration leads any keen watcher of events with unmistakable conclusion of the existence of a surreptitious but barely disguised intention to muzzle the elected governments of these states for what is clearly a display of unpardonable mediocrity and diabolic partisanship geared towards 2015.
Borno and Yobe states have been literally under armies of occupation with the attendant excruciating hardship experienced daily by the indigenes and residents of these areas. This government now wants to use the excuse of the security challenges faced by the Governors to remove them from the states considered hostile to the 2015 PDP/Jonathan project.
Let me be quick to say that this administration will be setting in motion a chain of events the end of which nobody can predict. Experience has shown clearly that actions, such as this one under consideration, often give root to radical ideologies and extremist tendencies, a direct opposite of the intended outcome of unwarranted and unintelligent meddlesomeness. The present scenario playing out in the country reminds one of the classical case of a mediocre craftsman who continually blames the tools of his trade for his serial failure but refuses to look at his pitiable state with a view to adjusting.
It has become crystal clear, even to the most incurable optimist, that the country is adrift. That the ship of the Nigerian state is rudderless is clearly evident in the consistent and continual attacks ferociously executed by elements often referred to as the insurgents in some northern states of the federation, particularly Borno and Yobe states respectively.
Indeed, no part of the country is immune from the virulent but easy attacks, veritable indices of a failing state. Unfortunately, the tenuous and uncoordinated approach adopted by this government betrays a grossly incompetent disposition which stands at variance with current realities in the country, nay the international community where acts of terrorism are engaged and contained. No Governor of a state in Nigeria is the Chief Security Officer. Putting the blame on the Governors, who have been effectively emasculated, for the abysmal performance of the government at the centre which controls all these security agencies, smacks of ignorance and mischief.
Terrorist acts are perpetrated routinely and the government at the centre appears incapable of stemming the tide of the horrendous crimes unleashed on the hapless populace. The considerable ease, with which lives and property are destroyed on a daily basis, should excite deep introspection on the part of a government truly desirous of finding a lasting solution.
The Constitution provides that the safety and welfare of citizens shall be the primary purpose of having that structure of any political leadership in the first instance. This Government, through acts of omission and commission, has fallen far short of expectation. It actively encourages schisms and all manner of divisive tendencies for parochial expediency. Ethnicity and religion become handy weapons of domination. Things have never been this bad.
The response to the pervasive chaos in the Northern region of the country has been militarisation, mass arrests and extra judicial killings by the Joint Task Force, JTF, a convenient euphemism for an army of occupation seemingly set loose on the people of the localities concerned. The tenor of the State of Emergency declared by the Federal Government yesterday portends danger for the polity. The full militarisation of security operations in these states will compound the already tense situation.
Bet vhat is the value to Nigeria, how has this helped or benefitted us in any way?
Ẹ fọkàn balẹ fún akanbi olodo idẹ. Please calm down for our leader looter extraordinary.
This information will help him achieve his N300/$1 short term goal, before hitting N200/$1 in May 2027. This is what he promised before he was allowed to grab power and hit the ground running 3 years ago.
Any idea why he has failed to deliver this promise despite saving billions of dollars in subsidy removal? Even the SPV $3.3 billion Afreximbank loan has failed to help city boy’s balablu ofege promise.
ijustdey: Nigeria will pay an interest of 11.85 percent per annum on the $3.3 billion “pre-export finance facility” (PxF) facilitated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd and arranged by Afrexim Bank, TheCable can report.
Until now, the fine details of the transaction, which has a five-year tenor, had been withheld by all parties involved.
A similar cocoa-backed $800 million facility arranged for Ghana by its cocoa marketing board attracts an interest of 8 percent per annum.
Bilateral lenders, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), would typically charge 1-3 percent with a longer tenor.
In the details seen by TheCable, Nigeria pledged a total of 164.25 million barrels of crude oil — at 90,000 barrels per day — starting from 2024 to repay the loan through Project Gazelle Funding Ltd, an “orphan” special purpose vehicle (SPV) incorporated in Bahamas for the PxF.
Effectively, the NNPC has pledged 38.58 percent of five years’ worth of tax and royalty oil to secure the loan.
Nigeria pledges over $12 billion worth of oil At the beginning of 2024, a barrel of Nigerian oil was sold at the international market at $77.93 per barrel, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) data.
At $77.93 per barrel, the 164.25 million barrels of oil pledged by Nigeria equals $12.8 billion — about three times more than the facility taken.
Pre-2014, the national oil company used to remit an average of $3 billion from oil sales every month.
Officially, Project Gazelle Funding Ltd (PGFL) is the borrower while the NNPC is the “sponsor” and will pay with oil to the SPV to liquidate the loan.
To make the repayment, the NNPC will forward-sell 90,000 barrels per day of Nigeria’s share of offshore crude oil under the production sharing contract (PSCs) with the oil companies.
Under PSCs, the companies usually pay royalties and taxes by giving the oil equivalent to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) respectively.
The NNPC in turn exports the oil on behalf of NUPRC and FIRS and remits the proceeds to the agencies.
This is part of the revenues paid into the federation account and shared by the three tiers of government.
But under the PxF, the revenue from 90,000 barrels per day will be used to service the loan in the next five years.
The loan arrangers will get a commission of $66 million or 2% of the facility, TheCable further learnt.
Nigeria will pay 2 percent penalty per annum in the event of a default.
‘DOLLAR LIQUIDITY TO STABILISE THE NAIRA’
The national oil company announced in August 2023 that the PxF was to support the federal government “in its ongoing fiscal and monetary policy reforms aimed at stabilizing the exchange rate market”, describing it as “a relief for the naira”.
It called the facility “crude oil repayment” with an upfront cash loan “against proceeds from a limited amount of future crude oil production”.
At the time, the dollar exchanged for an average of N775 in the official market and N885 on the streets.
The rates have now moved to N1,035/$ (official) and N1,230/$ (parallel).
Nigeria’s outstanding forex liabilities are currently thought to be over $7 billion.
In an explainer after announcing the PxF last year, the NNPC said its exposure is very limited, “covering just a fraction” of their entitlements and that “there are no sovereign guarantees tied to it”.
It said it “will also equip the Federal Government with the necessary dollar liquidity to stabilize the Naira, with limited risk”.
A strengthened naira as a result of the initiative, it said, “will lead to a reduction in fuel costs. This means that if the Naira appreciates in value, the cost of fuel will drop and further increases will be halted”.
It also ruled out subsidies, maintaining that a stronger naira “will result in lower prices from the current level, making subsidies unnecessary. The deregulation policy remains unchanged”.
Critics questioned NNPC’s involvement in getting loans to boost forex reserves when it should be concentrating its efforts on bringing in more oil revenues.
There were also questions over the decision to pledge the tax and royalty oil belonging to the entire federation to secure the loan.
Analysts also queried why the details of the deal were never made public.
KobolanderSegun: Dangote Never had plans of going international with his refinary his target was the NIgerian market but since the cabal started playing games he had to change strategy. And war done breakout ..... As NIgerians will say. This is his time.
A cabal that is called Tinubu? Abi who is the president and petroleum minister combined?
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has announced that the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have been successfully re-streamed after a nine-month rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.
The corporation, in a statement, noted that both plants commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, adding that while PHRC was ramping up its operation to about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day capacity, WRPC production was projected to hit 80 per cent of its installed 125,000bpd capacity.
The NNPC said the Port Harcourt refinery was projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri refinery would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.
Providing insight into the rehabilitation exercise, the NNPC noted that it had to adopt the phased rehabilitation strategy after the Original Refinery Builders, who were initially contacted for the project came up with unfavorable terms.
It said, “Though a decision was taken in 2011 to rehabilitate all the refineries using the ORB of each of the refineries, we were impelled to switch strategy after the ORBs declined participation and nominated some partners in their stead who came up with outrageously unfavorable terms.”
The NNPC stated that the nominated partners, as sole-bidders, came up with humongous price offers after two years of thorough and exhaustive scope of work definition and price negotiations.
It added that the proxies were also unwilling to provide post rehabilitation performance guarantees.
The corporation said, “The phased rehabilitation strategy which entailed phased and simultaneous rehabilitation of all the refineries using in-house and locally available resources in line with the spirit and letter of the Nigerian Content Law, also involved the use of Original Equipment Manufacturer representatives to effect major equipment overhaul and rehabilitation.”
The national oil firm said the phased rehabilitation programme, which started in October 2014 after the required funding stream was established, created a 70 per cent reduction in costs which helped largely in mitigating the financing challenges of refinery rehabilitation.
It observed that with the successful re-streaming of the PHRC and WRPC, attention has now moved to the 110,000 barrels per day Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company which was billed to come on stream soon.
saintopus: Dec 06, 2024 The PH Refinery ships its first export of petroleum products to Dubai. The company is expected to load the cargo in the coming days onboard the Wonder Star MR1 ship, signalling the commencement of operations at the plant and the exportation of petroleum products.
The ship will load 15,000 metric tons of the product, which translates to about 13.6 million litres.
Although the volume coming from the NNPC into the global market is still small, the development has the potential to impact the Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) benchmarks in the future while changing the market realities for Atlantic Basin exporters into Nigeria and other regions.
The sulfur content of the export by NNPC stands at 0.26 per cent per wt and a 0.918 g/ml density at 15°C, according to Kpler, a data and analysis company.
The cargo was reportedly sold at an $8.50/t discount to the NWE 0.5 per cent benchmark on a Free on Board (FOB) basis.
Kpler reported that the development would help displace imports from traditional suppliers in Africa and Europe, as Nigeria’s falling clean product (CPP) imports are already decreasing, dragging imports into the wider West Africa region lower as well.
Are you sure of that because you KNOW that they have another rogue referee to help them survive
jmoore: Nigeria Football Federation has suspended referee Yakubu Adamu indefinitely from all football-related activities following his controversial officiating during the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 37 clash between Rangers International F.C and Bendel Insurance F.C which ended 2-1 courtesy of the penalty in favour of the hosts at the Cathedral, in Enugu.
The sanction was announced by the NFF Refereeing Development Committee, which stated that the suspension takes immediate effect after Mr Adamu awarded a penalty during the encounter that was deemed inconsistent with the provisions of the Laws of the Game.
According to the committee, the controversial call directly influenced the outcome of the match after the resulting penalty led to a goal.
The decision has further intensified concerns surrounding officiating standards in the Nigeria Premier Football League, particularly at a crucial stage of the season where the title race, continental qualification and relegation battles remain fiercely contested.

NaijaRoyalty: …Says Buhari doesn’t have my kind of money
However, Buhari doesn’t have the kind of money I can steal neither does he have the money I can collect. He doesn’t even have the money for Lagos votes. So, whatever I promise, it’s for real and is coming from my pocket. It’s not until I go to Alausa before I get money to give you.”
Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party.
He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day.
Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.
Lithiumite: Its all part of the game plan well orchestrated by APC,divide them so you can take them out one after the other,if atiku isn't on the ballot,it will be because the courts say ADC isn't eligible and if you accuse tinubu if wanting to run unopposed, they will remind you NDC is very active......
.obi or no obi,ADC momentum has dropped because of the uncertainty that pervades that party,if it was certain atiku would contest, you would have seen several new heavyweights moving that way.
You know how the master strategist of Nigerian politics has held 20 million smart Lagosians in waterless bondage for 27 years despite massive increase in the state budget, which he is now doing for the entire country.
How does Funsho Williams’ murder in the 2007 elections cycle fit into this scenario
anonimi: The eyesore on Bourdillon Road 2nd January 2025
Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.
If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.
That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.
favor914: Effort in futility, He will just waste his ill gotten wealth.
Which one of your own favourite politicians does not have ill gotten wealth?
Why do you allow them to have ill gotten wealth, by depriving you of basic government services and public utilities? Is that why you are satisfied with a few roads and miserable palliative schemes instead of employing civil servants paid well on the basis of N70,000 minimum wage for the provision of services and utilities to everyone?
esnbrutality: Atiku will even win in your SW...let alone SS and he will do very well in SE.
Anybody BUT TINUBU
Period
Why would Tinubu allow any strong candidate to be on the ballot, except the ones he needs to divide votes and give credibility to his arrangee election next year, as a prelude to his 3rd term agenda for life president?
What do you think Amupitan is doing in INEC and Wike in the courts
Who is going to seal Lagos State government since it forces people to drink water from shitty boreholes, because Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu steal money to employ workers for the provision of pipe borne water
