LordBiden: Your governor is the chief security officer of your state,no be everything be tinubu.
Did you and Tinubu get the above revelation after 2015
Did city boy ask Shettima and the other governors of terrorised states to resign before 2015?
What has changed in the last 11 years, apart from having the most clueless rogue as president
EkoIle1: It is now abundantly clear that President Jonathan has finally bared his fangs confirming what was widely speculated. By declaring a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, he has intimidated and emasculated the governors of these States. We are witnessing a dangerous trend in the art of governance and a deliberate ploy to subvert constitutional democracy.
The body language of the Jonathan administration leads any keen watcher of events with unmistakable conclusion of the existence of a surreptitious but barely disguised intention to muzzle the elected governments of these states for what is clearly a display of unpardonable mediocrity and diabolic partisanship geared towards 2015.
Borno and Yobe states have been literally under armies of occupation with the attendant excruciating hardship experienced daily by the indigenes and residents of these areas. This government now wants to use the excuse of the security challenges faced by the Governors to remove them from the states considered hostile to the 2015 PDP/Jonathan project.
Let me be quick to say that this administration will be setting in motion a chain of events the end of which nobody can predict. Experience has shown clearly that actions, such as this one under consideration, often give root to radical ideologies and extremist tendencies, a direct opposite of the intended outcome of unwarranted and unintelligent meddlesomeness. The present scenario playing out in the country reminds one of the classical case of a mediocre craftsman who continually blames the tools of his trade for his serial failure but refuses to look at his pitiable state with a view to adjusting.
It has become crystal clear, even to the most incurable optimist, that the country is adrift. That the ship of the Nigerian state is rudderless is clearly evident in the consistent and continual attacks ferociously executed by elements often referred to as the insurgents in some northern states of the federation, particularly Borno and Yobe states respectively.
Indeed, no part of the country is immune from the virulent but easy attacks, veritable indices of a failing state. Unfortunately, the tenuous and uncoordinated approach adopted by this government betrays a grossly incompetent disposition which stands at variance with current realities in the country, nay the international community where acts of terrorism are engaged and contained. No Governor of a state in Nigeria is the Chief Security Officer. Putting the blame on the Governors, who have been effectively emasculated, for the abysmal performance of the government at the centre which controls all these security agencies, smacks of ignorance and mischief.
Terrorist acts are perpetrated routinely and the government at the centre appears incapable of stemming the tide of the horrendous crimes unleashed on the hapless populace. The considerable ease, with which lives and property are destroyed on a daily basis, should excite deep introspection on the part of a government truly desirous of finding a lasting solution.
lightwind: Tinubu and his gangs did worst than this to Goodluck Jonathan.
That is why Jonathan lost the election.
2027 Tinubu no go smell am. Just watch how it gonna unfold
While Tinubu made Jonathan a one term president in favour of a CLUELESSLY expired northerner, we will work with other progressive Nigerians to make city boy a one term president in favour of a northerner who was the brainbox of PDP's 16 years of widespread PROSPERITY, driven by deregulation and privatisation policies.
Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”
Tinubu told ACN supporters in Kano during the party’s Presidential rally that: “What Nigerians need now is a transformation in leadership” as obtained in the advanced economy.
The two-term Governor of Lagos State explained that the leadership of ACN was offering Nigeria the brilliance of Nuhu Ribadu who, he said, is in the class of Nicolas Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain, Medvedev of Russia and Barack Obama of the United States of America.
“What has CPC got to offer? We certainly don’t need expired leadership as we are offering the best in terms of brilliance, courage and patriotism in the class of Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain and Barack Obama of the USA.”
Tinubu’s position came on the heels of Ribadu’s declaration penultimate week in Kaduna when he hinted during a political rally of a joint ticket between the two opposition parties to confront the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The national leader of ACN criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for shying away from the national debate held last Friday, stressing that”that singular act exposed Jonathan as a coward who has nothing to offer.”
ridwintin89: Those playing politics with human life would not die well.
A loud amen to that.
Fire should consume them all in APC for switching us to their extreme poverty shege from PDP's 16 years of widespread prosperity with less insecurity and low debt burden.

The same Adebanjo that betrayed Bola Ige, the same one that betrayed several Afenifere leaders, same Adebanjo that betrayed the SW governors of AD in 2003 for OBJ.
I support Tinubu in not allowing that old man in undermining him and his ambitions in 2023, they have no good agenda for omo luabi and ọmọ kaarọ o'jire.
What good agenda does the worst betrayer of Yorubas, southerners and the entire Nigeria have for omoluabis
anonimi: How we foiled Jonathan’s effort to make Mulika Adeola Speaker, Akande reveals
AS president in 2011, Goodluck Jonathan did all he could to ensure South West grabbed the country’s number four seat, including lobbying then opposition leaders from the zone, to no avail. The North West eventually grabbed the seat, supported by South West leaders in opposition to then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former Governor of Osun State and now statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, made this revelation in his autobiography, “My Participations” which is currently dominating political and national dis- course.
Aminu Tambuwal, now Sokoto State governor, won the seat, against the preferred pick of his party, Mrs Mulikat Adeola Akande, from the South-West. Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, then a fledging opposition, which had Akande and his soulmate, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as front- line leaders, openly asked its elected members of the House of Representatives, mostly from the South-West, to work against their region and back Tambuwal from North-West.
The opposition party’s support carried Tambuwal through the contest against Akande, then ruling party’s favourite for the speakership seat.
In his book, Chief Akande revealed that former president then as incumbent, personally reached out to Tinubu, who is now believed to be nursing presidential aspiration in 2023 and himself, but couldn’t convince them.
He wrote, “President Jonathan, immediately after the meeting (with political parties), called Bola Tinubu aside into a lobby to broach the matter of ACN support for a choice of who would become the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“That same day, President Jonathan talked to me on phone about the same matter. He disclosed that PDP had zoned the position to the South-West but that only one Muraina and another Mulika won elections on PDP ticket from the zone into the House of Representatives.

Kalulu44: Hmmmm..... Well analyse. Like I said Atiku holds the victory or the failure of ADC. If he can humbly play a father figure role and pull everybody together
What happened four years after he humbly did not succumb to northern pressure to make Obasanjo a one term president in 2003, like Tinubu made Jonathan in 2015? Did Obasanjo not try and fail to become a life president through a 3rd term agenda?
2003 was the first time Buhari asked us for the job of president and we refused to give him.
What happened in 2023 when he humbly played a father figure to pull everybody together for PDP, four years after he rescued Peter Obi from political wilderness where Obiano sent him to after easing him out of APGA?
anonimi: Wike lobbied PDP committee to be Atiku’s running mate – Ex-gov’ship aspirant
Thu, 29 Sep 2022 14:33:04 WAT
Muazu Magaji, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State, has alleged that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, lobbied members of the party’s committee constituted to advise the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the choice of his running mate.
Magaji disclosed this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, on Thursday.
The Kano politician also argued that there was no proof that Atiku promised Wike the vice president position as claimed.
The PDP committee had recommended the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and Wike.
The committee, however, scored Wike above the other two contenders but Atiku decided to settle for Okowa. A decision that has since unsettled Wike’s camp.
Magaji, however, claimed that Wike lobbied to be scored ahead of others, adding that the Rivers State governor should not be trusted with important positions in the country.
2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury
Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.
One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.
Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.
ddippset: Says a man who hijacked the party and singlehandedly produced the last 4 National Chairmen of the party for his own selfishness.
Says a man who accepted nomination to be running mate to Fulani Atiku. He knew it was injustice to give Atiku the ticket yet he lobbied to be the VP.
He knew the party had to go South for the 2023 election, yet he still put Secondus as National Chaiman just to hijack the party.. Only to push Secondus out because he wanted the ticket 2023.
This man remains the biggest problem of PDP.
He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.
koning: Get rid of these people, NOW. Not trustworthy.
Will you keep him now that Adelabu Penkelemess confirmed that 75% of Nigerians have adequate electricity, even though APC has failed to crash petrol price and city boy has failed to crash dollar rate just like his predecessor equally failed in this matter
mecuries: In a country of over 250 million people having less than 4000MW is quite shameful. Countries with less populace generate power that exceeds 80,000MW.
Is it more shameful that we are also a country with the highest number of children out of school, while barely supervised private schools dominate the country because our governors fail to employ teachers for the free education of all children?
Thankfully Makinde has broken out of the mould by employing 19,500 teachers in just five years.
Something that Tinubu's 27 years master plan has not achieved in Lagos despite increasing budget and IGR 100 times from higher tax burden on people.
Zee454: Very nonsensical talk. Wetin they want make the man do? As if the former ministers of power were doing anything special when there was relatively stable supply.
The system itself is bad and it was just a matter of time before things got out of hand.. Make una free the man

If Fashola was not sacked by Buhari, why should city boy sack Adelabu Penkelemess
anonimi: Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'
Jul 11, 2014.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.
According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.
"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.
pendy79: Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday evening boasted that he could provide uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents between six and eight months.
Fashola spoke at the commissioning of 8.5 megawatts Lekki Independent Power Project (IPP), the fifth of such power projects in the last five years in the state.
The governor said the addition of the Lekki IPP was a testament to the fact that stable power does not require rocket science to achieve in the country.
While challenging power distribution companies in the state, Fashola said, “Let the Eko DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government, in about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State,” Fashola said.
He added, “So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated. So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible”.
The project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with Heritage Bank, is to serve Lagos State Water Corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lightening in the Lekki axis.
Leboska: tinubu internationally employs incompetent people & back them up with propaganda, go & check all his appointees is either people of questionable past or character or incompetent fellows. So forget the sack infact he'll even promote him.
City boy has no option than to INTENTIONALLY employ clueless, corrupt and incompetent people like himself.
You are very correct that APC leaders looters are all using propaganda lies to cover up their failure.
How do we keep reminding ourselves of their propaganda lies so as to reduce the negative impact on the minds of 200 million Nigerians
Freshtruth: This man; Dr Bukola Saraki is one of the smartest politicians that I know.
Saraki just maintained that power should remain in the South in 2027.
The LP has officially zoned their presidential ticket to the South.
PDP has also zoned their presidential ticket to the South.
APC is also going South in 2027.
Meanwhile Atiku and his supporters want to take the ADC presidential ticket to the North.
ADC WILL IMPLODE AFTER THE CHAOTIC PRIMARIES COMING UP and….
May Nigeria win🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Is this how Britons, Americans, Canadians etc use tribalistic rotation and zoning to share their national cake such that their countries remain attractive for our japa dreams?
onatisi: if gej contest then tinubu will win but , the opposition need to be united to beat apc and tinubu . it seems , if they had done this in 2023 , apc wouldnt have won that election they have seen that now
Indeed the opposition has to unite around the brainbox of PDP's prosperity years, driven by deregulation and privatisation policies that gave us less corruption, less insecurity, lower debt burden etc.
A solidly united opposition with a consistent message will unravel the magic of omo Iyaloja Oshodi, to relieve 200 million of APC extreme poverty shege due to their corruption and cluelessness in governance.
How can ordinary Nigerians contribute to this effort of uniting the opposition

chisomkachy: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
Naija News understands that the anti-graft did not give any particular reason for its application for withdrawal.
Following the application to withdraw, Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the ‘lien/Post No Debit’ placed on Obasa’s three accounts in Standard Chartered Bank.
The accounts are (US Dollars) 0001852063; (Current) 0001852056 and (Saving) 5002309624.
The judge also set aside the ex-parte orders he made on September 15, 2020, which led to the freezing of the accounts.
Recall that the court on September 15, 2020, granted an interim order freezing Obasa’s accounts following the EFCC’s application in a suit marked FHC/LCS/1064/2020.
The agency had said it was investigating the Speaker for the alleged offences of conspiracy, diversion of funds, abuse of office and money laundering.
But Justice Oweibo, on August 16, 2023, heard the application to unfreeze the accounts in his chamber.
During the hearing, the EFCC was represented by Mr. Sulaiman I. Sulaiman, while Obasa was represented by Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN).
The EFCC lawyer told the court that the application to unfreeze the accounts was pursuant to Section 44(2)(K) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Sections 26, 29 and 34 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.
Justice Oweibo held: “It is hereby ordered that an order is hereby granted to the respondent/applicant setting aside the ex-parte orders of this court made on the 15th day of September 2020 upon the ex-parte motion of the Applicant/ Respondent in relation the funds of the Respondent/Applicant domiciled in the accounts stated in the following schedule:
“ACCOUNT NAME, FINANCIAL ACCOUNT INSTITUTIONS, TYPE OF ACCOUNT, 1. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered, (US Dollars) 0001852063 2. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Current) 0001852056 3. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Saving) 5002309624.
“Issued at Lagos, under the seal of this Honourable Court and by the hands of the Presiding Judge this 16th day of August 2023.”

But i no dey hear 4rm Ebonyi State,, wetin dey suup 4 dat end nii ?
Are the governors also competing to employ enough teachers for the free education of all children, leveraging federal funds through UBEC that was established 27 years ago by the Obasanjo/Atiku administration, to help states achieve nine years of free and compulsory education for all children?
Has any of the SE governors employed up to 19,500 teachers in their tenure? This is the number that Makinde employed in just five years.
Karlovych: The next Governor of Lagos, very sound and smart individual unlike the fraud that promised body-worn cameras for agencies in the state
How sound and smart are you with your focus on body cameras for a progressive governor who has failed to employ teachers for the free education of all children?
Abi Sanwo Olu has employed up to 19,500 teachers in his tenure? This is the number employed by Makinde in just five years o.
I don’t think that even Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu have employed up to 19,500 teachers since the return to democracy 27 years ago.
Do you know what city boy’s master plan is for apart from stealing trillions raised from the people in higher tax burden
Kalulu44: Good morning NL, welcome to another brand new day and week. Back to the topic. I'm not a politician, don't support anyone nor party. Infact I started learning politics on this forum. But I still have one or two things to always say about our political climate and especially about the 2027 general election. . It's no longer news that APC and president Tinubu doesn't have any opposition. PDP, LP, APGA has already endorsed president Tinubu for re-election. The only party trying to behave like a serious opposition is the ADC. They have some political heavyweights and if Kwankwaso and Makinde should join them, they may become formidable but...... The but there is bcus of a clash of interest. Almost all the heavyweights bar Makinde wants to be the presidential candidate. And my mind and permutation is telling, any of them that doesn't get the ticket will want to work against the candidate or their supporters will do. And among all of them (I am assuming Kwankwaso and Makinde to be among) only Atiku and Obi have a wider supportership across the nation. Kwankwaso and Makinde only has regional support, I don't even know if Ameachi has any support base, so this guys are rule out remaining Atiku and Obi. Any of this latter two that didn't get the ticket, my earlier disposition comes into play. And with all this playing out, it's a straight victory for president Tinubu. . But if they want to give president Tinubu and APC a serious run for their money, they all have to come together, puts heads together and present a consensus candidates that all of them will support both financially and morally. So here's my own suggestion and pairing that will give APC a serious fight. Mr Abubakar Atiku, if I am one of your adviser. I will just tell you to forgo this your presidential ambition and become an elder statesman and godfather to the other aspirants cus the odds are not in your favor. If ADC should present you, you're from the North and the South won't want to handover their remaining Four years to North, even Obidients will vote for Tinubu or abstain from the election totally. That will be a big win for president Tinubu. Same goes for Kwankwaso. It now goes down to Amaechi and Obi who are from the South. And like I said earlier, Amaechi doesn't have the type of Supportership Obi has. The onus now fall on Obi. . But before Obi should be made the consensus candidate. He has to be made to swear with anything or gods they have to consult that he will only complete the remaining 4yr tenure of the south and hand over to the North. That Northerner now is between Atiku and Kwankwaso. At 83 yrs of age by 2031, I still think Atiku should forgo the ambition and leave it for Kwankwaso. Now, for Kwankwaso to get that 2031 ticket. He has to be told to swallow his pride and ego and become VP to Obi to complete the South 4yr tenure. Then when it gets to his turn, he will pick between Amaechi or Makinde as his VP. Even though I doubt Amaechi will want to become one. But with the promise that any of them that is left out will become the consensus candidate when the North finish serving their turn. Even though I don't know how old they'll both be by 2039. . So folks, with all this in place and all the heavyweights in ADC pulling in one direction. I believe Obi/Kwankwaso ticket with the full support of other heavyweights like Atiku, Amaechi, Makinde, El Rufai, Malami and co, together with Obi and Kwankwaso supporters will give president Tinubu and APC a serious fight and can eventually win. Anything aside that is a straight victory for president Tinubu before 12 noon on election day. This is just my wishful thinking and permutations, will the ADC and the numerous egos in the party tow that line, we awaits.

Jonathan Bares His Fangs, By Bola Ahmed Tinubu
May 15, 2013
It is now abundantly clear that President Jonathan has finally bared his fangs confirming what was widely speculated.
That the ship of the Nigerian state is rudderless is clearly evident in the consistent and continual attacks ferociously executed by elements often referred to as the insurgents in some northern states of the federation, particularly Borno and Yobe states respectively.

thisweekng: The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.
He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.
He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.
“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.
“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.” Private sector to drive the economy

Tinubu sets 3-year economic revival, 50million jobs target
August 29, 2023
President Bola Tinubu who reiterated his commitment to economic revatalisation said he will not permit indolence or any act capable of derailing his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ by any of his ministers.
He gave a marching order to the 45-member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to perform or be ready to be fired for incompetence. @ @ Edun said the Tinubu administration inherited a bad economy with an *unacceptable high rate of unemployment, and with inflation standing at 24%.*
He said:“Per capital has fallen steadily, inflation is at 24 percent, unemployment is high, you know m are rebasing the way in which it’s calculated. Either way, it is high and youth unemployment is even unacceptably high, these are the key metrics that we have met.” @ @ Edun said: “Clearly, *the Federal Government is not in a position to borrow at this time*. Rather, the emphasis has to be on creating a stable, macroeconomic environment. Stable inflation, stable exchange rate, an environment within which people can come and invest and thereby increase production and further grow the economy; Improve and create jobs and reduce poverty. @ @ Anite said President Tinubu was planning to create 50 million jobs.
She stressed: “In Mr. President’s manifesto during his campaigns, he promised 50 million jobs and that’s our target. We will take it in phases; we are looking at different sectors of the economy that will contribute to this job creation chief among them is the creative industry and the digital economy, and then the agric sector, agro-processing zones, and mining, oil and gas. So we’re very confident that we will achieve this.”

How can you talk about the demise of Wike like that
anonimi: Wike lobbied PDP committee to be Atiku’s running mate – Ex-gov’ship aspirant
He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.

anonimi: No room for Wike, Fayose in PDP again —Sheriff
Also reacting to the judgment, its apparent beneficiary, Senator Sheriff, vowed to put in place a machinery that would not give room to people like Governors Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose of Rivers and Ekiti states, respectively in any future arrangement in the party.
“I will engineer a restructuring of PDP such that characters like Wike and Fayose cannot find a way through to attain any position of prominence in our party in the future. They have brought shame and agony through the application of their crude and godless politics which is at variance with the principles upon which our founding fathers built our great party.
“We must find a way to sieve things so that only men of character and integrity can come through for positions of responsibility at all levels of our political engagement in the country.
“We must urgently steer the ship of PDP clear of the path of infamy which Wike and Fayose has brought our party, making Nigerians to mistaken PDP as a training ground for thugs. That is the urgent task we have. We cannot continue to advertise thug brand and expect Nigerians to take us seriously,” he said.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has announced that the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have been successfully re-streamed after a nine-month rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.
The corporation, in a statement, noted that both plants commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, adding that while PHRC was ramping up its operation to about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day capacity, WRPC production was projected to hit 80 per cent of its installed 125,000bpd capacity.
The NNPC said the Port Harcourt refinery was projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri refinery would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.
Providing insight into the rehabilitation exercise, the NNPC noted that it had to adopt the phased rehabilitation strategy after the Original Refinery Builders, who were initially contacted for the project came up with unfavorable terms.
It said, “Though a decision was taken in 2011 to rehabilitate all the refineries using the ORB of each of the refineries, we were impelled to switch strategy after the ORBs declined participation and nominated some partners in their stead who came up with outrageously unfavorable terms.”
The NNPC stated that the nominated partners, as sole-bidders, came up with humongous price offers after two years of thorough and exhaustive scope of work definition and price negotiations.
It added that the proxies were also unwilling to provide post rehabilitation performance guarantees.
The corporation said, “The phased rehabilitation strategy which entailed phased and simultaneous rehabilitation of all the refineries using in-house and locally available resources in line with the spirit and letter of the Nigerian Content Law, also involved the use of Original Equipment Manufacturer representatives to effect major equipment overhaul and rehabilitation.”
The national oil firm said the phased rehabilitation programme, which started in October 2014 after the required funding stream was established, created a 70 per cent reduction in costs which helped largely in mitigating the financing challenges of refinery rehabilitation.
It observed that with the successful re-streaming of the PHRC and WRPC, attention has now moved to the 110,000 barrels per day Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company which was billed to come on stream soon.
saintopus: Dec 06, 2024 The PH Refinery ships its first export of petroleum products to Dubai. The company is expected to load the cargo in the coming days onboard the Wonder Star MR1 ship, signalling the commencement of operations at the plant and the exportation of petroleum products.
The ship will load 15,000 metric tons of the product, which translates to about 13.6 million litres.
Although the volume coming from the NNPC into the global market is still small, the development has the potential to impact the Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) benchmarks in the future while changing the market realities for Atlantic Basin exporters into Nigeria and other regions.
The sulfur content of the export by NNPC stands at 0.26 per cent per wt and a 0.918 g/ml density at 15°C, according to Kpler, a data and analysis company.
The cargo was reportedly sold at an $8.50/t discount to the NWE 0.5 per cent benchmark on a Free on Board (FOB) basis.
Kpler reported that the development would help displace imports from traditional suppliers in Africa and Europe, as Nigeria’s falling clean product (CPP) imports are already decreasing, dragging imports into the wider West Africa region lower as well.
