Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

chisomkachy: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
Naija News understands that the anti-graft did not give any particular reason for its application for withdrawal.
Following the application to withdraw, Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the ‘lien/Post No Debit’ placed on Obasa’s three accounts in Standard Chartered Bank.
The accounts are (US Dollars) 0001852063; (Current) 0001852056 and (Saving) 5002309624.
The judge also set aside the ex-parte orders he made on September 15, 2020, which led to the freezing of the accounts.
Recall that the court on September 15, 2020, granted an interim order freezing Obasa’s accounts following the EFCC’s application in a suit marked FHC/LCS/1064/2020.
The agency had said it was investigating the Speaker for the alleged offences of conspiracy, diversion of funds, abuse of office and money laundering.
But Justice Oweibo, on August 16, 2023, heard the application to unfreeze the accounts in his chamber.
During the hearing, the EFCC was represented by Mr. Sulaiman I. Sulaiman, while Obasa was represented by Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN).
The EFCC lawyer told the court that the application to unfreeze the accounts was pursuant to Section 44(2)(K) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Sections 26, 29 and 34 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.
Justice Oweibo held: “It is hereby ordered that an order is hereby granted to the respondent/applicant setting aside the ex-parte orders of this court made on the 15th day of September 2020 upon the ex-parte motion of the Applicant/ Respondent in relation the funds of the Respondent/Applicant domiciled in the accounts stated in the following schedule:

According to him: “The theme demands our collective attention and serves as a stark reminder of the need to create an environment where every worker feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. As your President, I assure you that this administration is committed to creating such an environment for the common good.”
On the economic hardship, he noted that while it is a global phenomenon, its effects on Nigerians are particularly severe.
Tinubu said: “I am aware of the peculiarities of the economic hardship Nigerians face—rising living costs, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the loss of livelihoods. These challenges are real and demand definitive solutions, which I am poised to address as your President.

It was a meeting of two of Nigeria’s most influential politicians in London – President Muhammadu Buhari was visiting political kingmaker and senior member of his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
In July, the presidency announced that Mr Buhari was heading to London for an education summit. The office also added that the president would also see his doctors for “medical check-up”.
Coincidentally, Mr Tinubu, who had travelled to London earlier, was also receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in the British capital. So, a perfect setting for both men to meet was created.

Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

SUPPLY from local refineries have received a major boost as the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have begun preliminary production following a successful re-streaming after a nine-month phased rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in a statement yesterday in Abuja said that both plants have commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, noting that while Port Harcourt Refinery Company PHRC, is ramping up its operation to about 60 percent of its 210, 000 barrels per day name plate capacity, Warri Refinery Petroleum Company WRPC, production is projected to hit 80 percent of its installed 125, 000 bpd capacity.
Meanwhile, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has closed down 22 filling stations in Abuja and environs for undue profiteering. 19 of them were sealed for selling above N87.00 per litre, while two were shut down for diversion of petroleum products and one was caught grossly under-dispensing and selling products massively in jerry cans. DPR stated that the stations would remain sealed for at least one month in addition to forfeiting their bridging claims as directed by the Federal Government.
NNPC added that the Port Harcourt Refinery is projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of 5million litres of petrol per day while WRPC would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol to local refining capacity.

Emergingnation: Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party
National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.
During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.
He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.
His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.
“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.
“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.
“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.
Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

How is a failed wannabe godfather your personal saviour
newsbook: Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.
Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.
Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.
Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.
But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.
He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.
Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.
These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.
The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.
On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.
He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.
The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.
A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.
There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.
Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.
The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.
While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.
“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.
“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.
“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”
Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

treesun: Buhari's eight-year reign as president has seen Nigeria struggle through numerous challenges, with inflation and unemployment at worse levels than he met them.
Today is President Muhammadu Buhari’s last full day in office as Nigeria’s president. First sworn in as a democratic president on 29 May 2015, he will hand over to his successor, Bola Tinubu, tomorrow.
During the 2015 election, Mr Buhari convinced Nigerians to do something they had never done before – turn power over to the opposition party at the national level. In return, Nigerians expected him and his party, the APC, to do something hard to do – sail their country across turbulent economic and political waters.
“My only desire is to prove to you that Nigeria can truly work,” Mr Buhari said on the morning of 6th January 2015. “Allow me to prove to you that in your lifetime, you can be proud of this country,” he added. Mr Buhari later promised to tackle corruption and insecurity and develop the economy which he said was in poor shape.
Monday, May 29 will mark eight years since Mr Buhari took power as Nigeria’s president, after defeating former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 and winning re-election in 2019.
His eight-year reign as president has seen the nation wriggle through numerous challenges, with inflation and unemployment at worse levels than he met them. Some Nigerians believe the Buhari administration has performed way below the bar it set for itself in seeking office. But, we examined data on some key indicators to see how Buhari performed in the last eight years.
Inflation Before Mr Buhari took office in 2015, Nigeria’s inflation rates remained at single digits – even as analysts opined at the time that it was high. For instance, in the whole of 2014, the inflation rate moved between 7.7 per cent, which was the lowest, to the highest point of 8.5 per cent, official data shows.
By 2015, when Mr Buhari took over power, the inflation rate averaged 9 per cent.
Since then, the nation has seen a surge in inflation rates. Data released by the statistics bureau, NBS, shows that under Mr Buhari, Nigeria’s inflation rate hit a 16-year high amid an increase in prices and poor purchasing power.
In 2016, inflation rose to 15.68 per cent and jumped to 16.52 per cent in 2017. The numbers dropped to 12.09 per cent in 2018 and down to 11.40 per cent in 2019. By 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it had risen to 12.2 per cent and closed in 2021 at 16.95 per cent.
In 2022, NBS said the inflation rate climbed to 21.34 per cent. As food prices rose, Nigeria’s inflation rate hit 22.22 per cent in April this year.
Inflation Unemployment and poverty rate When President Buhari took over power in the second quarter of 2015, Nigeria’s unemployment rate rose to 9.9 per cent in the third quarter of that year from 8.2 per cent in the second quarter, according to the NBS.
Since then, unemployment, poverty, and economic disempowerment have remained a disturbing feature of Nigerian life. Between May 2015 and May 2021, Nigeria’s unemployment rate more than tripled.
The current data on the NBS dashboard shows Nigeria’s unemployment rate is 33.3 per cent, translating to some 23.2 million people, the highest in at least 13 years and the second-highest rate in the world.
Similarly, the last poverty survey from the NBS showed that 63 per cent of the Nigerian population, or almost 133 million people, are multidimensionally poor. Prior to 2015, only 53 per cent of Nigerians were multidimensionally poor.
GDP At no point in its 62-year history has Nigeria’s economy expanded slower than its population for a longer period than between 2015 and 2020, an indictment on Mr Buhari who has led the country in that time.
The income per person, what economists call GDP per capita, is a better measure of the economic health of a country than the total amount of goods and services produced as it factors in the size of the country’s population into economic output.
Data from the World Bank shows that Nigeria’s GDP per capita declined by 0.02 per cent, 4.16 per cent, and 1.78 per cent in 2015, 2016, and 2017, respectively. In 2018, 2019, and 2020, it declined by 0.68 per cent, 0.38 per cent, and 4.57 per cent, a painful squeeze for Nigerians whose average incomes are about $2000, less than half the $5,000 of South Africans.
Nigeria’s annual GDP growth rate also declined from 6.22 in 2014 to 3.10 in 2022.
Also, between May 2015 and now, the Nigerian economy fell into recession twice. Under Mr Buhari’s stewardship, the economy fell into recession, first, in 2016 when the economy contracted by 2.06 per cent between April and June, and in 2020 when COVID-19 decimated economies all over the world.
Naira to dollar In November 2015, barely six months after Mr Buhari was inaugurated as president, the naira sold against the dollar at N197. Between then and now, the Nigerian currency has gone through ceaseless devaluation, with two such exercises occurring in 2020 alone.
This year, 2023, the currency had been trading in the range of N445 and N463 for a dollar on the relatively flexible spot market window but on the black market, used by most Nigerians and foreigners, dealers exchange the naira at N730 and above.
Debt In the same vein, Nigeria’s debt profile has risen considerably since Mr Buhari took over power, as budgetary proposals have been designed around debts.
The Debt Management Office (DMO) said Nigeria’s debt profile stood at N12.12 trillion as of June 2015, shortly after Mr Buhari took office.
DMO data shows Nigeria’s total public debt as of 31 December 2022, was N41.6 trillion. The figures include the Debt Stock of the federal and state governments, as well as, the Federal Capital Territory.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Buhari administration borrowed three times the combined amount by past governments since 1999.
The government has argued that it spent a lot of the money on infrastructure, mainly roads, bridges and railway, projects that are essential for development. However, the repayment of the loans has created a major challenge for the government with annual income barely enough to service the debts.
Debt Status under Buhari’s Administration Human development Also, between 2014 and 2019, Nigeria dropped nine places on the Global Human Development Index (HDI) published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The country was ranked 152 out of 187 countries in 2014. But, in 2022, the index placed Nigeria 163 out of 191 countries worldwide.
The country scored low on all three basic dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living.
Corruption The perception of corruption in Nigeria under Mr Buhari’s predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, averaged 25.8 per cent. The score fluctuated between 24 and 27 per cent during the five years of Mr Jonathan. The lower the score, the more a country is perceived as corrupt by its residents.
Mr Buhari’s tenure as of 2022 averaged 25 per cent. Within the eight years since he assumed office, the country’s score has ranged between 24 and 28 per cent, according to Transparency International (TI).
Nigeria’s ranking on the global index has not been impressive. Between 2016 and 2020, Nigeria slipped in ranking by 18 positions, from 136 in 2016 to 154 in 2021. The rankings are from one to 180, with 180 indicating the country that has the worst perception of corruption.
Nigeria is among countries that “have serious corruption problems” and are at their “lowest level in the last decade.” The global average remains unchanged for the tenth year in a row, at just 43 out of a possible 100 points, and Nigeria’s points remain less than 30 despite multiple commitments.
Out-of-school children When Mr Buhari came into office in 2015, no fewer than 10.5 million Nigerian children were out of school, data from the United Nations International Children’s Fund shows.
The out-of-school situation has grown worse due to the degenerating security situation in the country.
As of September 2022, Nigeria had about 20 million out-of-school children, according to the latest global data on out-of-school children by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
Although the Nigerian government has questioned the UNESCO figure, many analysts said that insecurity in many parts of the country, particularly the North-west, contributed to the increase in the number of out-of-school children, with many schools shut in the affected parts of the country.
Ease of doing business On the ease of doing business, Nigeria recorded tremendous improvement under Mr Buhari. Africa’s largest economy is currently ranked 131 out of 190 economies in the world on ease of doing business, according to the latest World Bank annual ratings.
The country was ranked 170 in 2015 before Mr Buhari came to power. The number dropped to 169 in 2016; 141 in 2017
The Ease of Doing Business ratings rank countries based on how the regulatory environment is conducive to business operation through simpler and friendly regulations for businesses, and stronger protections of property rights by governments, among other key variables.
Ease of Business Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) The World Health Organisation (WHO) reported that about 58,000 maternal deaths occurred in Nigeria in 2015 and that the MMR declined from 1350 deaths per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 814 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2015.
By 2022, the latest United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report titled “Situation of Women and Children in Nigeria,” states that the country recorded 576 maternal mortality per 100,000 live births.
This means though the numbers are still high, maternal mortality is on the decline in Nigeria, including under Mr Buhari.
Maternal mortality is a major public health problem in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) such as Nigeria and it is one of the strongest indicators of a country’s standard of living and maternity care.
lagonovo: PDP's 16 years of prosperity that left us with almost non-existent power supply, dead refineries, dilapidated railways, eyesore airports to name a few, came on the back of very low standard of locked down military economy. The bar was very low.
The vice president of PDP's first eight years tenure was part of APC coalition.
Do you know better than ebilokan’s finance minister about the comparative situation of our economy between the PDP glorious prosperity era and the extreme poverty era of APC
What is it about this A-looter Poverty Conmen, APC leaders who treat us like worthless poopoo
anonimi: Nigeria: Pensioners Urge Tinubu to Pay Arrears
26 March 2003 This Day (Lagos)
Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
updatedws: Thats one of the disadvantages of the subsidy removal. Too much Faac allocation and dey don't know whag to do with money. So dey have to loot.
If ebilokan didn’t loot loot 20 million Lagosians when he was governor for eight years and Naira was not as worthless as he has made it in the last two years, then why is there no pipe borne water supply to all households?
Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low
A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.
Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.
The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.
'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.
"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.
"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.
He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.
''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.
''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.
''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.
The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.
This has been going on long before APC was born. By the way, APC is a coalition similar to the new one many are applauding today and most of the key actors are the same.
How many of APC key actors are members of the deregulation and privatisation PDP capitalists that gave us 16 years of prosperity, high employment, low inflation etc?
All the good things that ebilokan used his 2011 expired northerner Buhari to change a decade ago. How could he have made his fellow southerner Jonathan a one term president in favour of a clueless northerner who showed us shege for eight years before the Lagos landlord used Yorubalokan to worsen everything further?
thisweekng: The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.
He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.
He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.
“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.
“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.” Private sector to drive the economy
FreeStuffsNG: The Governors are enjoying an economic windfall and pursuing flamboyant projects all over the Federation.
And this is a PDP Governor o
What are APC governors and even the president doing with their own windfalls?
Why is ebilokan borrowing more money than previous presidents despite his $84 billion subsidy savings that is choking us with hunger, poverty and starvation from high fuel & transportation costs?
ManirBK: Aug 28, 2023 The Federal Government says it has no intention to borrow from any local or foreign organisation with its removal of subsidy on petrol and exchange rate harmonisation.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, revealed this at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja.
He said that the benefit of the subsidy removal would be ploughed back into various sectors aimed at boosting government revenue and improving the business environment for local and foreign investment.
Edun said that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.
He reiterated the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s desire to bring back the economy from the wood it has found itself over time.
madridguy: From Seyi Makinde to Bala Mohammed, our greatest problem in Nigeria are our governors.
Why did you omit Wike? How many billions did he spend to renovate the conference centre while he failed to deliver water for all Abuja households and failed to pay teachers?

scribble: The blogosphere was inundated with reports of the excessive sharing of dollars at the All Progressives Congress which took place during the latter part of last week.
One APC supporter and Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Environment, BolaIlori had blown the scandal open after he saw the beginning stages of the dollarization in action.
He took to his Facebook page and scribbled, “Crazy things are happening here!!! Some of these cannot represent the change Nigeria is yearning for. Excessive dollarization by one of the aspirants to is to say the least obscene. I have been involved in political process for decades now, I have never witnessed this volume of raw dollarization of party primaries. I only read about this kind of things in PDP primaries. A question been asked by conscientious delegates is that whoever can be giving out between $2000 to $5000 to…delegates certainly does not represent the kind of change Nigerians want…those who contributed to the pauperization of Nigeria now revel in dollarization… majority of Ondo delegates are still standing with Buhari but have been reduced from 85% to 70% within 24 hours…the remaining has gone with dollars ooo.!!!!!”
One has to wonder how Buhari was able to win the primaries in this era of stomach infrastructure where dollars are like the Biblical manna that God sent down from heaven to nourish the Israelites as they made their way to the promised land.
Sources close to the APC with knowledge of the way the Primaries unfolded have revealed that it was Rivers State Governor, Amaechi who flew back to Rivers State and returned to Lagos on Thursday morning with enough dollars to make Benjamin Franklin blush.
It has been revealed that Atiku offered the delegates $5000 each, but Amaechi doubled it to $10000 a pop. Thus turning the tables in favour of General Buhari.
Since his adventure into the APC, Amaechi has gone out of his way to prove himself a party loyalist, always the first to shoki or azonto at the many events the APC holds, which he himself is usually the chief sponsor.
According to party insiders, Amaechi has overtaken Tinubu as the major financier of the party. One does not need to wonder why he is always at President Jonathan’s throat over misappropriated oil wells or other such business. Anything that diminishes from the State’s coffers will have a ripple effect on his funding budget for the APC.
slivertongue: coalition talks are not centered on any individual but focused on building a better Nigeria.
Exactly what we need after a decade of extreme poverty and economic collapse by APC clueless leaders looters.
It’s time to restore our economy. It’s time to return to the PDP deregulation and privatisation capitalism era of abundance, prosperity, employment, productivity etc.
Who will take us there? How will we help him to take us back to PDP prosperity?

EFCC withdrawal of cases is not synonymous with integrity o.
Quite the opposite for Oshiomhole’s Association of Past Criminals, APC.
.
chisomkachy: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
“ACCOUNT NAME, FINANCIAL ACCOUNT INSTITUTIONS, TYPE OF ACCOUNT, 1. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered, (US Dollars) 0001852063 2. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Current) 0001852056 3. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Saving) 5002309624.
“Issued at Lagos, under the seal of this Honourable Court and by the hands of the Presiding Judge this 16th day of August 2023.”

Omooba77: The association, in a statement on Sunday by the NAS Capn, Dr. Joseph Oteri, said these needless deaths, a grim reflection of the desperation gripping many Nigerians, underscore the rising hunger and economic hardship that has engulfed the nation.
The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) says it is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of over 60 lives in Oyo, Anambra, and Abuja during recent palliative distribution stampedes.
The association, in a statement on Sunday by the NAS Capn, Dr. Joseph Oteri, said these needless deaths, a grim reflection of the desperation gripping many Nigerians, underscore the rising hunger and economic hardship that has engulfed the nation.
“While we commend the government's effort to alleviate the plight of vulnerable citizens through palliatives, it is evident that these measures have been marred by inadequate planning, poor coordination, and lack of accountability,” it said.
According to the group, the chaotic scenes that led to the fatal incidents are an “indictment of the systemic failure to address the root causes of hunger and poverty”.
The group noted that rising hunger in Nigeria is a national emergency that demands urgent action.
“Failure to act decisively will deepen the crisis, with devastating social, economic, and political consequences,” it said.
“We mourn with the families of the deceased and demand that the government ensures accountability for this avoidable tragedy. Hunger should never be a death sentence in a country blessed with abundant resources.”
“It is time to rise to the challenge of ensuring that every Nigerian can live with dignity, free from the scourge of poverty and hunger,” it added.
Therefore, the association called on all levels of government to urgently prioritize sustainable solutions to the hunger crisis.
It said, “Palliatives must reach the intended beneficiaries without endangering lives. Transparent and well-organised systems, with the involvement of community leaders and credible NGOs, should be put in place to avoid chaotic distributions.
“Beyond temporary relief measures, the government must develop long-term strategies to enhance food production, support local farmers, and stabilize food prices.
“Programmes aimed at addressing the needs of the most vulnerable must be scaled up. Access to affordable healthcare, education, and social safety nets is critical to lifting millions out of poverty.
“Policies that create jobs and enhance income-generating opportunities should be fast-tracked to reduce dependency on palliatives.”
The association noted that two of its chapters in Edo State (Area 3) recently had successful palliative programmes, during which over 2,000 underprivileged persons were fed.
It added that one of the key components of the programme was orderliness.
