owobokiri: The reason for the creation of the civil service is to provide services to the people and NOT to offer employment. This is a very very important fact that many Nigerians need to understand. The civil Service is the engine of the state. This is the body that transforms governments policies into actions and services. It begins and ends there. Anyone who is advocating for the utilisation of the services as a means to provide jobs, is indirectly trying to kill the country. Why?
When you over-staff the civil service with both wanted and unwanted hands, you create a huge financial burden for the country. You increase the running costs, thereby ballooning the recurrent expenditures. If this happens, the state is in trouble, as the meager resources available for capital projects continues to get leaner and leaner deu to the astronomical wage bill. So it is insane to have a generation of Nigerians grow up thinking that the only way they can make it in life is to study hard enough just to be qualified to be employed in the countrys civil service! People like you need to wake up. Go and create your own enterprises and jobs. The civil Service should be Small and concise.
If the civil service is over-staffed why do our cities and towns have less water supply than they had in 1999?
The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.
At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.
The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.
Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.
Why do we have more private schools than public schools since 1999, with the private schools barely supervised?
anonimi: Ratio of public to private schools in Lagos State is one to 22 ― Commissioner September 4, 2022
The Lagos State government has said the ratio of public to private schools at both primary and secondary school levels in the state is one to 22.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, gave the revelation in her remark at the 2022 edition of the Total School Support Seminar Exhibition (TOSSE) held at Oregun in Ikeja between Thursday and Friday.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said politicians’ sins are forgiven when they join the ruling party.
Oshiomhole made this statement on Thursday, while welcoming new members to the party, at the APC presidential campaign in Benin.
As he reeled out names of those who have defected from the PDP to the APC, he said: “I am told that there are a lot of very very senior people from PDP who have decided to join forces with President Buhari to take the broom to sweep away PDP and to continue to ensure that APC continues to preside all over Nigeria.
“It includes my own brother, my friend who comes from my own clime, Henry Duke Genebe. He is the former organising secretary of PDP and we also have former vice chairman PDP and leader of Edo North of PDP. We also have my brother Chief Esheshi Godwin. He is also former council chairman and my very dear friend. We have quite a number of other leaders who have come.
“We have quite a number of other leaders who have come… in fact, once you have joined APC, all your sins are forgiven.”

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low
A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.
Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.
The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.
'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.
"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.
"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.
He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.
''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.
''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.
''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.
The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

what is really the point of stealing money, yet the children u stole to train are of no sound mind, no mental clarity.
The point of stealing money is to oppress those who ALLOWED you steal their money instead of employing them in local, state and federal government MDAs to provide common services, facilities maintenance and utilities. Oppress them and their children, even to generations unborn.

After ruining Lagos for 26 years and counting. Ruined with increasing tax burden on 20 million smart Lagosians that have zero services and zero utilities in return, such that the once glorious FCT is now a scamdemic shadow of itself. Terrible T-Pain must think that he can hold 200 million Nigerians in bondage if he has successfully done so for 26 years to Lagosians despite their smartness.
anonimi: The eyesore on Bourdillon Road 2nd January 2025
Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.
If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.
That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.
Why do we limit our understanding of good governance to roads, buildings and other physical infrastructure to the neglect of employment in the civil service to make common amenities, utilities and services available for everyone?
How many teachers and other workers have been employed by Soludo since Anambra people allowed him to be the governor? How many were employed by Obiano, Obi, Ngige and Mbadinuju
If this is not fake news, why are we still importing so much and terrible T-Pain has failed to crash the price of petrol as he promised in January 2023 before he hit the ground running 22 months ago?
Who is smart enough to resolve the riddle
Deltafirstson: Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.
In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.
However, pump price of fuel hit N537 per litre days after Tinubu ended subsidy.
On Tuesday, the price climbed further to N617, a development that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed to “market forces”.
Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.
Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.
At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.
However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.
“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.
King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.
On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.
Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.
“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices,” he had said.

Whatever her father may have done, shouldn't be her liability.
If any of you ranting here were born in the same circumstance, would you reject the good life and opt for suffering?
While I agree 100% that her father and other politicians in Nigeria have failed us, our major problem is our disunity.
Is that why Africans are so poor that we can't even make basic education free for all our children nor have water in all buildings hence we export ourselves to Britain like this spoilt brat of loquacious constipated authority? Britain that we blame for our enduring underdevelopment but still japa there to make their country even better than ours?
What manner of wisdom is that
TheBedWench: The one-drop rule is a social and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States in the 20th century. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry ("one drop" of black blood)[1][2] is considered black (Negro or colored in historical terms).
This concept became codified into the law of some states in the early 20th century. It was associated with the principle of "invisible blackness" that developed after the long history of racial interaction in the South, which had included the hardening of slavery as a racial caste and later segregation. It is an example of hypodescent, the automatic assignment of children of a mixed union between different socioeconomic or ethnic groups to the group with the lower status, regardless of proportion of ancestry in different groups.[3]
The one-drop rule is defunct in law in the United States and was never codified into federal law.
newsbook: Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.
Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.
Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.
Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.
But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.
He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.
Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.
These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.
The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.
On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.
He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.
The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.
A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.

I hope Nigeria youths can see how the elites build their children. First they get quality education, secondly they are either placed in lucrative ministries, departments or agencies or given appointments at the corridor of power/decision making. The contacts/network they build alongside an impressive profile goes a long way in giving them the edge in life. Youths stop defending corrupt leaders.
What should we do instead, since they are all corrupt? Abi you know any one who is not corrupt among all our leaders? Maybe your LGA councilor

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;
or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority? @ @ The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.
Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

[quote author=NLCreator post=126854133]Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.
There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.
Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.
The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.
While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.
“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.
“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.
“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”
Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.
