MrPolitics: What you're describing isn't exactly federal character since you're all from the same state. It's more tribalism and no, it doesnt help anyone. That's why I smh at idiots fighting for presidency to come to the south or stay at the north like it will make any difference in their lives I think it still boils down to federal character.. the principle was inserted in the constitution so that most of the tribes can have some sort of representation in the government of the day. What's the essence of the representation when there is no impact whatsoever to the common indigene? |
Politics › Re: Does The Senate President Of Nigeria Deserve Immunity? by ArchiPelago1: 7:42am On Jan 31, 2018 |
BlackMbakara1: Ministers are not immune from prosecution, so get facts right.
The senate president was voted by a constituent just like any other "sinator" out there and not the entire country nor an entire state that voted for him.
We can say he's just first among equals in the senate which is why he can't be granted immunity else other senators are entitled to it.
Being a number three man in the federal system is just a privilege for political reasons which ordinarily the CJN should have been. Ministers are not immune from prosecution constitutionally but they can be shielded from prosecution by their principal who is the president. If the SP is just first among equals in the hallowed chamber, then the constitution must prevent him from acting as president if the president and his vice cannot discharge their duties. |

Myself2: No Lawmaking functions can go on in his absence or indeed the absence of any senator After all on a good day, when senate is in session, you see hundreds of empty seats Presidential work can also go on in the president's absence... At least we saw that in Buharis absence. |

ReubenE: Years back, some Nigerians united and created a Second Force that birthed APC....where has that led us? It led us to political and economic misery and desertification with so many licking their wounds.
Creating a Third Force or Delta Force will make no meaning when the players are the same, and fundamental issues in our nation building is yet to be resolved.
What I see in this Third Force is the usual use and dump that is trying to unfold. After 2019, then we call for a Fourth Force, or maybe God himself to be the New Force.... [/quote]I think this coalition platform is a great idea if it doesn't get infiltrated by Nigerian politicians.. ordinary Nigerians must coalise to challenge the status quo. |
