Politics / REJOINER: RMAFC Approves 114% Salary Increase For Tinubu, Shettima, Govs, Others by aspabay(m): 6:40pm On Jun 21, 2023
I saw this thread on FP and on several other blogs and platforms. As every Nigerian I was disgusted but need to know more.
Then I went to the page of one of my mentors on Twitter for his analysis and I was not disappointed.
Clear explanation with facts devoid of any sentiments.

Read on please for knowledge
114% Salary increase for Elected officials, appointees, National Assembly & Judicial Officers:
What are the issues?

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation & Fiscal Commission was established by Decree 49 of & later amended by Decree 98 of 1993 (now RMAFC act Cap R7 LFN 2004). Section 153 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended is listed as one of the 14 Federal Executive Bodies. That is the reason FG can’t dissolve it.

Members are Chairmen & 35members from states & 25% FCT. Part of their mandate is the remuneration package for political office holders. Paragraph 32 (d) of Part 1 to the third schedule as well as Sections 70,84,111 $ 124 of the 1999 constitution had in the year 2000 & 2007 recommended remuneration for political office holders. What is the process: RMAFC shall recommend an increase in wages to the President.
The President in council with his Ministers (No Minister now) CAN APPROVE or REJECT the proposal. If the President approves, the President sends an EXECUTIVE BILL to the National Assembly to pass into law. Assuming National Assembly passed the bill into law as was done in 2002 (Certain Political, Public and Judicial office holders [Salaries & Allowances] Act 2002, states house of Assemblies must CONCUR (2/3 of 36states).

So, is there any law for a 114% salary increase for the above officers by law? The answer is NO. Is there any proposal by RMAFC for 114%? The answer is, yes. Recall the same RMAFC made an attempt to review salary increases in 2009 to 2015, but they FAILED. NASS &36 states assemblies could not pass the bill. The last review of salaries and allowances for elected officials was done in 2008.
In conclusion, there is nothing in LAW as per 114% increase for elected officials. The exercise for salary increases started in 2022. This exercise is entirely different from salary increase for public and civil servants or national minimum wage. People should stop misleading their followers.

The above clarifies that there is nothing like a 114% increase as alleged by some blogs and accusing Tinubu.
Read slowly and stop displaying illiteracy.

Drug pushers and always the first to point accusing fingers at others.

At this rate, never trust any so-called "Igbo business men", they are either into drugs, did drugs in the past, or planning to go into drugs. None of them is pure.

It’s a good policy to float the NAIRA but there’ll still be black market simply because it’s a problem of liquidity, the supply is low and access by ordinary Nigerians is limited. If dollar is readily available and there’s transparency in the market, this policy might work. Get Dangote refinery working asap , that’s the single most important project we need right now.

Black market will always be there but the margin wont be wide again

To arrest the slump of the naira, Emefiele took several unorthodox steps. He ordered the cutting of trees where black market vendors worked in the capital; placed a ban on cryptocurrency trading, a burgeoning alternative initiative popular among young people hedging their money against rising inflation; and banned a website that reported the value of the dollar in the black market, among several other measures.

Politics / Re: Marketers Move To End NNPCL Petrol Import Monopoly by aspabay(m): 2:57pm On Jun 14, 2023
Wrong news headline.

With deregulation, NNPLC will no longer be the sole importer, anyone can apply for and be granted a license to import and compete with the NNPLC.

So no marketer moves anywhere, it is the expected trend.

And young people see nothing wrong with this?

Also see the amount of people that even voted for yari. That should be a worry.

And the akpabio that was put there is not because they love him like that. It was because he steeped that for tilimbu during the primaries and therefore all the billions that got lost under his watch during the "off your mic" saga alll forgotten.

This is why many people still want peter obi and are still interested in the case. All these impunity has to stop. angry

States with over 90% Muslims (North) and those with over 90% Christians (South) in politics, what have been the major benefits of the religious affiliations to impactful governance? Pray tell.

Makinde is a criminal. That road is worth nothing less that 2 billion. Maybe 3 billion with compensation of the house owners. So he’s stealing about 6bn there. We need to start doing something about these government officials honestly. It’s not sustainable to steal and put a state in debt to this extent. These people need to be made to pay the money back and go to jail.

Show us your working, no be everything be mouth.
