I have been thinking about this but I think I have finally figured it out. Why is it so hard to achieve those things you see in your mind's eyes? It's like being that nice guy seeing the promised land but unable to take that one move to get your share.

I just figured that to achieve your own success, it is important to understand how the human mind works. This is not just about understanding the minds of others but also yours. The reason you're stuck in the same position for so long is because your brain is already connected to that spot. We all cherish a comfortable life, this is why we have this innate fear whenever we leave our comfort zone.

Regardless of how powerful our brain is, it wouldn't mind choosing to remain stuck in one position. We humans are programmed to embrace consistency. We can hold on to something even if it's falling apart right in front of us, we would rather lie to ourselves than take that first step.

That first step is the catalyst you need to create that life you want for yourself . Sadly, it's the heaviest and most difficult step you'd ever take.

This is why you'd rather lie on the bed and watch porn videos instead of doing those "hard" things on your to-do list. This is why you feel so vulnerable when you attempt to leave your comfort zone. This is why you would rather do other trivial things to prove and lie to yourself that you're being productive than focusing on things that truly matter.

If you're wondering why you can't stick to your well crafted plan, you convince yourself that you can do it and the next minute, you're back in the same pit you sworn you'd come out of. Then, this is the reason. Your brain is used to that backwardness and you have no mental strength to challenge yourself to get up and fight. You're your own enemy, you have been defeated by procrastination and spat on by self deceit.

You might have those brilliant ideas in your head but your brain would rather swim in the gutter until you get up and challenge it to work. Listen, the road to success is boring — so boring. I lost a business worth millions of naira about two weeks ago and the journey to rebuilding it has been rough. I wouldn't lie, it's scary. But when I let the creative side of me take control, I can feel my brain trying to resist—trying to maintain that consistency. I'm talking about doing less work and demanding more comfort.

I have these ideas in my head but I kept noticing how I would go for the easiest ways that wouldn't give my "entrepreneur career" better boost compared to the hard things. My mind has become consistent in choosing simple methods even though they might not be long-term or give me the kind of results I seek. When I eventually try out these "hard things," it becomes clearer that they were never hard in the first place. I was only attracted to things I have been consistent with, and found it hard taking that first step.

I'm currently building another business and the risk is scary but I have decided to take on the hard things. I have decided to manipulate my brain into doing what I need and not what I want. The earlier you take that first step, the better...
