What do you expect when a Dynamic Nation has Static Policies. https://www.nairaland.com/4459696/2019-nation-dynamic-why-static |
By Augustus Bill One of the biggest problems of our development as a nation has been that most of our politicians are stuck to medieval ideologies, ideas and policies, refusing to adapt to change, and always hoping to solve problems with formulas that worked in the times when Fela Kuti still played Saxophone and Joseph Dosu still manned the Green Eagles' Goal. Real life situations are not fixed like Mathematical Formulas where S = D/T or π = 22/7 remains constant. In real life, each scenario requires a fresh approach, a well thought out remedy plan and execution strategy. You can't maintain the same speed on a particular route and expect the journey to get shorter nor can you press a button and get a specific result when dealing with complex behaviours or situations. There is basically no one right solution that applies to all conditions. Most Politicians are so firmly convinced that their ideas are in the best interest of the people they claim to serve, even when these ideas seem to emanate from borrowed playbooks of failed Governments of the medieval times. Bereft of fresh ideas, they canvass for support and amass enough voters power to gain them Victory at the polls, only for us to realize that all those long hours of queuing under the scorching sun waiting to exercise our franchise were wasted on an ingrate who still thinks that debt is OK even when generations would not benefit from the commodities that caused the debt. Time has come when Logical reasoning should be matched with Strategic Planning and buckled with Effective Execution. Gone are the days when our choice of Leaders are solely based on how sweet they make their policies sound but how realistic their bogus policies are. Time has come when representing the largest Federal constituency in the South East should be saddled on those that are not just aware of the present situations but have workable plans on how to get us out of the muddy gullies and stagnant lakes of retrogression the previous governments have plunged us into. Every choice we have made in the past have fetched us more cold than warmth, and those we have previously given the mandate to represent us have only smiled to us from the other side of the divide. Their silence and inactions have denied us rights and privileges that should be ours. In a time like this we are extra careful in making a choice because we know that what we choose now will stay with us for the Next four years, and the effects of their policies, actions and inaction can haunt us for many generations to come. Effective representation has not always been about being so eloquent in grammar, enough to receive deafening applause that would collapse the sounds of those pressing questions of the Electorate that need to be addressed. Representing Idemmili North and South, the largest South East constituency at the Green Chambers, requires more than the guts to stand for our rights, the voice to speak for us, having the right policies and the strategies to handle the diplomacy of lobbying in our favor. It requires you to be able to make certain important and necessary choices on our behalf; choices that would position our constituency on the path of Quality and affordable Education for our children, Poverty Alleviation, Youth Empowerment, SMEs Growth, a wonderful living standard for both the young and old and other basic amenities. We may never know what our choices would bring. All we can do is hope that the smartest and most sincere persons are making them, and politicians like Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi are the smartest and most sincere ones at our disposal. Ibezi, like every other politician has an ambition but unlike most politicians the aspirations of the people are the bedrock of his ambitions, he does not only understand the political terrain, he also has the political, and psychological compass to navigate Idemili North and South Constituency to the destination of informed and reformed representation at the National Assembly. It is high time Idemili North and South joined the National Parlance effectively as an active voice, and a Voice like Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi Will not just be Loud but clear enough to speak our choices in the tone that will bring positive results to our constituency. Let's allow a Policy Maker speak; let's allow Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi Act. #AugustusBill Source: http://gistafricah.com/en/2019-if-the-nation-is-dynamic-why-static-policies/

in a swift, sudden and fast action hoodlums suspected to be loyal to the suspended Senator Ovie Omo- Agege representing Delta Central Senatorial district, have attacked the red chambers and made away with the mace in a black SUV. The hoodlums attacked while Plenary was going on, taking the Sergeant-At-Arms by surprise as he struggled to reclaim the mace without success, and throwing the house into serious confusion and tension. This happened as the Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu was presiding over the plenary in the absence of the Senate President, senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki is currently at the World Bank event in the United States. It could be recalled that Omo-Agege was suspended last week following his role in the electoral act amendment bill seeking to reorder the election sequence. The development has thrown the Senate, and the entire National Assembly into confusion and fear of what really happened and what could happen next, as the stolen mace is the symbol of authority and consequently the Senate can no longer legitimately hold plenary until the mace is recovered. Discussions right now is being held in groups and hush tones as to what might be the next line of action. As at the time of filing this report, discussions are being held in groups and hush tones, as the situation is hazy and uncertainty looms large. Details shortly… Source: http://gistafricah.com/en/breaking-hoodlums-raid-nigerian-senate-plenary-steal-mace-photos/

eTECTIVe:We pay our Politicians to deliver good governance, but how many have delivered even a kilobyte for good governance? A child comes first position and he is appreciated. we should have not appreciated him na, because we pay school fees for him to pass |
By Augustus Bill Obiano’s Second tenure Inauguration may have come and gone, but the success and glamour of the A grade packaged event will remain on headlines and front pages of both traditional and new media tabloids, highlighting stories of an Inauguration ceremony that every Governor wishes to have, if only they can afford the creative, brilliant and diligent services of Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, the power horse that steered the Inauguration ceremony to an atomic success. Hon. Ibezi has again proven beyond every sane imagination that his physical height compliments the mountain of intelligence and Iroko of Wisdom he has upstairs. The Abatete born Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Politician continues to emit wonders in crystal clear ultra-high definition with anything he touches, and any field he steps into. His role as the Chairman of Obiano’s second tenure Inauguration committee and the seamlessly perfect event he pulled up remains empirical evidences that he understands not just how to lead, how to manage responsibilities effectively, but also how to deliver eye-popping positive results. Whether from the VIP Stand, the crowd, around the venue, or you watched on television or followed live updates from blogs; you’ll dock to testify that Obiano’s Second Tenure Inauguration Ceremony was a masterpiece from the hands of a man who understands the beauty of perfection. You cannot argue less in favour of Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, as a man that pays attention to detail, even as tiny as a droplet of the Governor’s sweat on that day was perfectly accommodated in the planning of the event. You can’t lead an infantry of soldiers if you have never been tested or trusted in the capacities of leadership, service and strategic decision making. No wonder the passionate people of Idemili conferred on Hon. Ibezi, the prestigious and coveted title of ‘Ochiagha Idemmili’, because they have tasted his service and sincere leadership enough to allow him lead the Idemmili Infantry regardless that he is still a youth. Like the saying, when a child washes his hands, he dines with the elders. Hon. Ibezi did not only wash his hands, he had a bath in the pool of wisdom, service, sincere leadership and trust and has long been over qualified to not only dine with the elders but wine and gist with them. Organizing a successful Inauguration of class and glamour is not Hon. Ibezi’s only feat within the last 6 months, he was among the masterminds that pulled off the 21/21 political victory of Governor Obiano during the November 2017 Gubernatorial Election. His role as the Head of Logistics for the campaign cannot be overemphasized, as he brought his lorry load of smartness and cargo plane of efficiency to the campaign, ensuring that APGA fought gallantry strong and indeed came out conspicuously victorious. No wonder Governor Obiano, a lover of perfection and class saddled this young man with the golden responsibility of making the March 17 inauguration a Terabyte of success. The Governor must have been convinced beyond every reasonable doubt that when delicate situations are up and smart results are needed, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi becomes one that can be trusted to deliver impeccably. If sincere service and trusted stewardship to the people is needed, Hon. Ibezi has proven he just has no equal, his ocean of ideas, brilliance and sincerity can drown even political sharks already swimming in the system. Hundreds of youths gathered on Saturday in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State to air their opinion on the dangling situation of the state, and to chart a way forward for the emancipation of youths in the State. The gathering, which was attended by over 15 Youth Volunteer groups and Association was engineered to create an avenue of formal discussion of the polity of the state politics, and ways youths can synergize to ensure that they are no longer used as thugs and hoodlums during elections, only to be dumped after the polls. The youths agreed that it was high time they threw their weight of support behind another youth, since the elders have grossly lived beyond expectations of the electorate that voted them in. Youths at the event expressed in their different opinions reasons why a youth like Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo should be urged to contest, being a youth with the wherewithal to stir the required storm that can make a youth emerge winner in the 2017 gubernatorial polls. Citing their reasons of urging Onunkwo to vie for the governor of the state, the groups said it became necessary to seek for a youth who understands youth, as it would be fair for someone who is pained to speak on behalf of others, as he will clearly highlight the pain of others, and Johnbosco Onunkwo is worthy enough to champion the cause of the youths. The conference ended with a communiqué where the youths gave Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo 21days ultimatum to declare his interest to run for the gubernatorial elections or forfeit the support of the youths. The Communiqué was signed by the head of the youth groups. By: Chris Martins Love, they say knows no differences as it reaches out to all. Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo, an Industrialist and humble Philanthropist lived up to the virtues of love when he left the comfort of his home and the grandeur of expensive 5-star hotels to celebrate the 2016 anniversary of his birthday with inmates of Basden Memorial Special Education Centre, a School for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb at Isulo, Orumba South L.G.A in Anambra State. The philanthropist who has made it a custom to celebrate his birthday anniversaries with the less privileged in the society, decided to show his deepest love and care to these special kids this year, having celebrated that of last year with Prisoners. Ezeemo was moved to tears by the sonorous and rhythmic resonance of the songs these special kids rendered to him. According to a post on his official facebook page, he said, “there is no gift bigger than celebrating my 2016 birthday anniversary with these special kids. It is not their fault that they are blind, deaf or dumb, and we that are complete should not see our completeness as a result of our righteousness”. Ezeemo recounted that the love from the kids was so much that he and his lovely wife had to join the dance. He still wondered how deaf and dumb pupils were able to perform a choreographed dance, and their steps were in perfect uniformity, even when they were unable to hear the sound of the songs. It goes a long way to show the exceeding grace of God, and I can’t thank him enough for adding another year to my years. Ezeemo promised to support the school in every way he could, as he donated 2 Giant grass cutters, N100K, and promised them a complete Band set. Not including the foodstuffs and the prepared meal and drinks that he celebrated his birthday with. The students recounted their joy at his kind gesture to celebrate with them, even when he had all the money that could afford him a five star celebration at his home or hotel. They expressed the honour and privilege to have him as a guest.

By: Chris Martins, Abuja It was a mammoth gathering Yesterday, June 11 at St. John the Cathedral Ekwulobia, as party faithfuls and supporters of Progressive People’s Alliance came out in their numbers to support their party as they commissioned the Party Secretariat for Aguata L.G.A The gathering was thrown into a euphoric frenzy at the arrival of party leader and gubernatorial candidate Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, as there were chants of joy and songs of praise for the illustrious Philanthropist of Umuchu, whose extended hands of kindness have been felt across Anambra state and beyond. The crowd who waited patiently expressed optimism that the journey which began at Aguata shall lead their favourite candidate Mr. Godwin Ezeemo to victory at the gubernatorial polls next year. Speaking to the gathering, Ezeemo assured them of his commitment towards ensuring a democratic and good governance that accommodates the opinion of everyone, as no man is an island of knowledge. He beckoned on them to keep aside frivolous sentimental reasons in making their decisions. Chief Mathias Ameke, the State Chairman of the Party who was belated at the success of the event urged party faithfuls to rally round in support for the party candidates, and not to be deceived by baits of money from politicians who have no interest of theirs at heart. He remarked that the event at Ekwulobia is a groundbreaking event that would lay the foundation for the party’s success in the oncoming elections. HRH Paul Ifeanyichukwu Egbuacho, the Igwe Akalabo the II of Amaesi, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers present, emphasised that the time has come for Aguata to clinch victory, and it requires the collective support of everyone for the victory to achieved. He stated that what the state needs is one who can listen, think, act, and stand for his people, and these are qualities embedded in Mr. Godwin Ezeemo. He further urged the people of Aguata no to be deceived as no amount of wealth can buy their conscience this time. Highlights of the event were the official opening of the Party office by Mr. Ezeemo, and the blessing of the office by Venerable Chijioke Nwankwo, Cathedral Administrator, St. John Anglican Cathedral Ekwulobia. In his prayers the Venrable stated that all the while the party didn’t emerge victorious at the polls, that God was preparing them for now, and this is the ripe time for victory and they must clinch it. An ebullient industrialist and humble Philanthropist, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, Chairman/CEO of Orient Group of Companies and his gracious wife were among the “Dignified” Dignitaries that were present today at Enugwu-Ukwu to pay final Tribute to Chief. Okeke, the father of Dr. Nkem Okeke, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State. Ezeemo and his amiable wife in their usual humility and meekness joined the Okeke Family in bidding their father farewell. The gracious couple were seen extending their solidarity to the family, while they shared pleasantries with guests at the event. Ezeemo who spoke to the Press after the ceremony said death is a certainty we don’t pray for, but would accept it when it comes because we are left with no other choice. He said that as we pray for Long Life and prosperity for the Living, we also pray for the happy Repose of our colleagues, friends, and relations that are dead. The Industrialist further urged the bereaved family not to relent in their golden pursuit but to follow the footsteps of their late father who had left visible footprints and legacies on earth.

TIRED OF SCHOOL - By Augustus Bill For long I have wondered why I have to sit behind a desk for 4 years, preparing myself so I could be qualified to sit behind another desk for the most part of my life. I have to say this, as much "stubborn and irresponsible" as it may sound, after all that's what our tutors call us when we revolt against their static and aged techniques of teaching. I wonder why my department still has on her payroll, a teacher who was a student in the 20th century; someone who has never been to any other institution of learning both formal or informal in this 21st century. So what do they expect him to teach me? ideologies and techniques as old as antiques. Black and white television has migrated to coloured TVs, it's no longer Nitel lines but smartphones, no longer VCR but micro-chips. A lot has changed, but this tutor has refused to change his techniques, same old ways. I get to class everyday to meet same boring face with a long history of techniques that has no business with now. A class where notes are dictated in practical courses as graphics and computer science; where they only paint a mental picture of a studio and not take me to the studio itself, but expect me to produce a TV program. A class where my tutor on "Journalism and new media" has no social media account, even when he has he doesn't accept friend requests from students. In this 21st century I am still being asked to define communication, and when I define the term in the best way I understand it, I earn a D because I didn't define it according to Saldman et al. A definition that was made when Nigeria still had 12states, now we have 36 and my tutors still want me to keep to that. I hate school, I wish I could stop, but who am I to stop school when I have parents that expect a first class grade from a son who no longer attends class, but have chosen to improve his talent, after all that's what matters in the real world. Certificate without talents in this 21st century is like a complimentary card for a man who has no company. The card can say you are a CEO but in reality you are still a job seeker. What's the use. My tutors are annoyed when they see me with a smartphone instead of a book, they call me Lazy and irresponsible, but forget that same laziness and irresponsibility gave a mansion to Linda Ikeji in Banana Island. How many professors have flats in that island? Creative Laziness pays these days. These days they tell me that if I don't make up to 70% of my class attendance I wouldn't write exams, because they feel I know nothing unless they taught me. Such a big lie, because their classes are boring most times because I already know what they are teaching, though not because I am so smart but because they keep repeating same lessons, like Runtown's song on repeat. They stress themselves trying to make the course so difficult by telling me it is hard to pass a course I already know how to pass. I wonder why they still teach me self development. What happened to my studying on my own? After all there is a term as "Home Schooling". I would have still loved school if they taught me how to make a car, and not the names of those that made cars, we spend more time in teaching history of an art or act than we spend teaching the art or act itself. Don't blame me for hating school, rather blame my tutors for making school impossible for me to like. In the words of my friend and mentor, Suli Breaks, I dedicate this piece to all my pals who have found what they are looking for on Google, followed their dreams on Twitter, pictured their future on Instagram and accepted their destiny on Facebook. This is for you. School can not and would never define us, yes we may be tired of it, but we choose to complete it. Having in mind that what keeps us outstanding are not what we learnt in class but things we learnt through self development. #AugustusBill Www.facebook.com/augustusbill
