SportsStop Rooney And Arsenal Will Beat Manchester United Says Wilshere by Ayo199(op): 11:17pm On Nov 20, 2014
The Arsenal and England international Jack Wilshere has seen at first hand over the last couple of weeks just how much of a threat the England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney can be to Arsenal when Louis van Gaal brings his squad, or the ones left standing anyway, to the Emirates on Saturday.
And that is why Wilshere has warned his Gunners team mates that stopping Rooney is the key to Arsenal recording a rare and vital victory over the Red Devils. In an ESPNreport, Wilshere praises his international team mate and captain highly, but all the same things that are good news for England, are bad news for the Gunners if we fail to deal with them properly at the weekend.
Jack said, “He looks sharp and in form. We’ll have to look at how to deal with that on Saturday because he’s going to be a problem for us, especially if he plays in the No.10 role. Or even if he plays up front.
“He’s got a few goals this international break and I’m sure he’ll be looking to continue that so we’ll have to stop him.
“The main thing about ‘Wazza’ is his love for the game. He still has that hunger. He’s been playing now for 12 years at the top level and to still have that hunger and the quality that matters, he’s still one of our best players if not the best.
“You can see that when we go into games, we’re looking to him to get the goals and he’s still delivering.
“He loves training. He’s always the first out for training. He’s just a proper footballer. He’s never in the gym, he just wants to play the game because he loves it. He just wants the ball at his feet and long may that continue for England.”
But we should not forget that although Rooney scored in both of the England games and was a key figure, it was our midfielder that was voted Man of the Match both times and it was Jack’s control of the midfield and his passing and bursting forward that allowed Rooney to flourish. And Danny Welbeck scored another two of England’s goals, with Chamberlain getting the third, so there is plenty of quality in the Arsenal side.
And apart from Rooney, United’s attacking players are not in great form, even assuming that Di Maria recovers from his knock and can start. Mata, van Persie, Januzaj and Fellaini are all struggling for form and confidence at the minute, while their manager is struggling to find a system or even 11 players that will work for him.
So Jack is right to identify Rooney as the key to winning this game for Arsenal. And as Wilshere knows him so well from the England set up, surely he should start in the centre of midfield and be detailed to snuff out any danger from the United forward. What do you think Gooners and red devils fans?
SportsSouthafrica To Declare Tomorrow Public Holiday If Beat Super Eagles by Ayo199(op): 4:16pm On Nov 19, 2014
Bafana will renew their rivalry with the Super Eagles at the newly built Uyo international stadium as they seek to record their first ever victory over the Nigerians in a competitive match.
The former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) leader toldSport24, in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, that it will be a good feeling for the South African football fraternity if Bafana can cause an upset in Nigeria.
Mbalula, 43, also hinted that he will declare Thursday as a public holiday if Shakes Mashaba’s men bring this long runninghoodoo to an end.
"It’s a game of soccer, nothing is impossible," Mbalula toldSport24.
"And we know that anything can happen, but I believe in the boys who are with the current team in Nigeria.
"They are so motivated and hungry for success.
"We also have the experienced players like Andile Jali, Oupa Manyisa and the bunch of Kaizer Chiefs players who will be competing in Africa next year.
"It will be a good feeling for us as a country to beat this Nigerians.
"I wish they can just beat Nigeria at their own backyard and then I will declare tomorrow (Thursday) as a public holiday because this hoodoo has been going on for a long time now.
"But we are going there without any pressure because we have already qualified for AFCON next year.
"So there is no pressure on our team and if it happens we lose we must understand that it happens in football.
"But we’ll remain proud of our team," he added.
Heading to this encounter, Nigeria needs nothing less than a win to book their place in next years’ continental showpiece and they will be counting on Sudan to cause an upset at home against Congo, Brazzaville.http://m.news24.com/sport24/Soccer/BafanaBafana/Mbalula-Just-beat-Nigeria-20141119
SportsSuper Eagle's Starting Xi Vs Southafrica by Ayo199(op): 4:06pm On Nov 19, 2014
Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has announced his starting line-up for their final Afcon qualifier against South Africa.
Central defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has passed a fitness and features alongside Azubuike Egwueke in the heart of the Super Eagles defence.
South Africa will be without their talisman, Thulani Serero, after he failed to recover from a hamstring injury he picked in their win over Sudan.
These two sides played out to a scoreless draw in the first qualifying fixture at the Cape Town Stadium.
Here's how they line up:
Nigeria:Enyeama, Ambrose, Omeruo, Egwuekwe, Oshaniwa; Onazi, Lawal, Mikel; Uche, Musa, Emenike
South Africa:Keet, Khumalo, Ngcongca, Mathoho, Mashamaite, Furman, Letsholonyane, Manyisa, Masango, Erasmus, Rantie.

SportsNigeria:mashaba Wants To End Nigeria's Hoodoo Over South Africa by Ayo199(op): 7:21am On Nov 19, 2014
South Africa coach Ephraim Mashaba has said that his side wants to end a decade run of defeat against Nigeria in the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Uyo today.
Mashaba heads to Uyo with a poor record of just one win in 10 matches against Nigeria.
South Africa was held to a goalless draw by Nigeria in the first meeting in Cape Town, but the coach said despite having qualified for the Nations Cup, he will not take the game lightly.
Mashaba admitted his side will face a tough challenge against Eagles which is desperate to pick the maximum points in Uyo.
"Nigerians don't want to lose against South Africa. That alone will make this match a tough one and we also have the assignment to break the hoodoo that we always lose when we play against them," Mashaba said after the team's final training session in Pimville, Soweto on Monday.
"We have to go out there positive and believe we will do well. We are defending well but there are still some things we need to do, especially in the middle of the park where we are not picking opponents tight and that will cause us problems especially against a team like Nigeria which is very good in that area," he concluded
SportsEnyeama Should Win Africa Best by Ayo199(op): 10:56pm On Nov 18, 2014
captain, Vincent Enyeama could emerge as the 2014 African Footballer of the year according to Olympic gold medalist, Dosu Joseph.
Enyeama was on Thursday listed in the CAF's 5-man list for the best player on the continent Dosu believes that Enyeama merits the award, especially as he has been consistent over the years for the Super Eagles.
"Enyeama [Vincent] no doubt is one of the best in Africa. He has been impressive form for his club in the French league, Champions League and the Europa league. He has also done well for the national team,” Dosu toldGoal.
"He stands a very good chance of been named in the top three but can’t really say if he will eventually win because it has always been very difficult to be named the best in Africa, though, few goalkeepers have won it before but that was in the past.
"This time, I think it will be more difficult but should he win it, Nigerians will be very happy
SportsAfcon 2015: Super Eagle's Last Chance by Ayo199(op): 10:20pm On Nov 18, 2014
Eagles qualifying for the 2015 Nations’ Cup to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea hangs on the outcome of today’s match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. IKENNA OKONKWO, just back from Pointe Noire, Democratic Republic of Congo, further raises suspense in this piece, describing the crucial nature of today’s match in Akwa Ibom State’s brand new International Stadium.
No fewer than ten countries have booked their place into 2015 Nations’ Cup which has been confirmed to hold in Equatorial Guinea leaving remaining six spots for other 18 competing nations across Africa.
Among the countries yet to qualify for next years’ continental showdown include Nigeria’s Super Eagles who are rated tops in terms of their chances of qualification judging by number of points they have garnered coupled with head to head count.
Host Equatorial Guinea, Cape Verde, Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Zambia, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Senegal are among the countries that have already booked their places ahead of next Africa Cup of Nations holding between January 17 and February 8, 2015.
Ahead of today’s final qualifying games, there are growing concerns that most heavy weight soccer nations may fall short of making it to Equatorial Guinea. Seven times champions, Egypt appears to be sitting on the cage of gunpowder as the Egyptian side occupies third position six points in their group.
Egypt can only hope to qualify as the one best third-place team from the seven groups. They probably need to win North African rival Tunisia to have a chance of that or it will likely miss out on a third straight African Cup after winning the last time it played in 2010.
However, Republic of Congo, Congo Brazeville, Uganda and Malawi could be surprise qualifiers. http://nigerianpilot.com/afcon-2015-super-eagles-last-chance/
