PoliticsSegun Wire. by Ayodejitosure(op): 4:45pm On Mar 26, 2017
"SEGUN WIRE" A PICTURE OF SMARTNESS
Few months ago a little boy of less than ten years gained fame on the Nigeria social media with a video where he declared that he wants to become an internet fraudster in the future. He is known by the name segun wire. Within two months the kid segun wire has become a celebrity. He was invited as a guest to one of the numerous graduation parties held in unilag recently.
During the infamous Abacha Junta i was in the primary school. The primary school where public school teachers were on strike sometimes for ten months or more. My parents are teachers too. Then ask any kid what he wants to become what you will hear from kids even in the worst ghetto is Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer and maybe a football star. No kid would ever think of anyrhing fraudulent.
The reason Segun wire a kid roughly eight years old will say he wants to become a Yahoo boy is simple, those guys are the only symbol of breakthrough that exist in most places in Nigeria today. They are the only ones who seem to be living a good life in his area. The little boy simply observed his environment and concluded that crime pays. Only people with some element of criminality seems to be making a headway in this country. He noticed that the bookworm and the religious only end up as private school teachers in some mushroom private schools where the salary is hardly enough to feed them for the first five days of the month.
The Yahoo boys are the ones with new cars, newPhone, new houses and the hottest Chics. Why would any sane kid want to go through the rigorous yet ineffective Nigeria education system for atleast sixteen years to end up as a jobless graduate hanging around newspaper stand at Oba-nla junction arguing about Chelsea and Man-United?
Music used to be another avenue for the children of the poor to get famous until the omo baba olowo's and the yahoo boys invaded that sector. Little wonder why most of the songs nowadays are filled with outright balderdash comparable only to the crazy mumbling of a marijuana addict.
Football was also another means to glory until it was also politicised. Rashidi Yekini the most potent striker Nigeria ever had was at a time a road side mechanic yet he reached the top. Today politicians give coaches bribe for their kids or relative to be included in the national team. If you have ever wondered why the super Eagles play with laxity now you have the answers.
Segun wire simply expressed the aspiration of most kids in Nigeria. They have discover that the only language Nigerian understand is money. Money gotten from anywhere through any means. We have a new culture, it is the culture of "Oga, show us the money"
In the nigeria Pentecostal church money is the only interpretation of divine blessing any man without money is not blessed . we use to be a people with a culture that reward excellence and honesty until we began to gradually change .
Segun Wire is the future of Nigeria, he does not want to study medicine for eight years and end up in an hospital where there is no drugs. He doesn't want to end up in the academia where the school will be on strike for most part of the year.
Why should Segun embrace music where only the children of the rich and the cyber punks now hold sway. Segun is a smart boy, very smart boy he has cast his lot to the surest way for the children of the extremely poor to become miraculous wealthy. Yahoo yahoo in a hopelessly disorganized Nigeria. He has made the right choice.
PoliticsYou Humiliate Us More Than The Tribal Marks. by Ayodejitosure(op): 2:18pm On Mar 23, 2017
this week the bill to criminalise tribal marks just passed second reading in the Senate. This is a confirmation that the upper chamber of our law making institution loves to deal in outright frivolities.
this bill is a product of no one else but senator Dino Melaye our own ever controversial senator who is currently in the middle of a certificate scandal.
the motion is based on the fact that people with tribal marks face a lot of humiliation from friends and members of the public and the fact that tribal marks have become obsolete. The argument is defective.
That something is obsolete does not mean no one wants it anymore. Some people still wear facial marks with prise. We must not assume that everything western is better than our own, people should be allowed to decide what they do with their face. If tattoo is not criminalised, if piercing the nose and ear is not criminalized why do we have to criminalise facial marks.
come to think of it, what type of facial marks does the senate wish to criminalise? The deep GOMBO, ABAJA, MEJO IJESHA, PELE ELO or PELE ONDO. The truth is facial marks comes in shapes and sizes. Not all facial marks makes the bearer ugly. There are facial marks that actually add beauty to the looks of the bearer and there are still people who are proud to wear the facial marks.
My question are numerous and they are directed to our law makers. In the midst of obvious blood letting and carnage going on in various parts of the country. should the Senate be using their scare time to debate GOMBO and ABAJA? Are people are still not dying in our hospitals for lack of basic drugs? Are our roads still not sucking the blood of Nigerians like a gang of marauding vampires?
Is there anyone who has been prevented from joining the army, gain admission to school, contesting for the highest office in the land or getting married in the registry because they wear facial marks?
The last time I check a man who ruled Nigeria for twelve years i.e. Olusegun Obasanjo has that tribal mark, Tarawa Balewa had, S.L.A Akintola had it too. One of the finest musician to have come out of Nigeria King Sunny Are has it too.
Is there any life threatening hazard imposed by tribal marks? One of the argument against it is that HIV/AIDS could be transmitted because of unsterilised sharp object used. Shouldn't we also criminalise manicure, pedicure and barbing?
The truth Is, our senators are chasing shadows, What humiliates a man is not really the tribal marks, it is the obviously harsh disposition of the leadership of this country towards the plight of the poor and helpless. It is the ever increasing wide gap between the rich and the poor. It is the wicked policies of the many government we have had in this country which has kept the most gifted of our population in obscurity.
What humilates us is not tribal mark it is the uncertain and ante- dulivian judicial system which keeps people in prison custody for twenty years without fair trial for an offence they didn't commit in the first place.
what really humiliate us is not our tribal mark it is the shameless way our leaders steal our collective patrimony thereby, displaying stupendous wealth in the face of abject poverty.
Where I live, there are kids who have dropped out of school because their parents couldn't buy exercise books and school sandals. The current recession we face is an indictment on the quality of leadership we have had in the past and it is an humiliation on the present.
I simply think that our senators should face what they are elected to do and leave those things that they know little or nothing about.

PoliticsAli Is Just Ali by Ayodejitosure(op): 7:48am On Mar 20, 2017
One Col. Hamadu Ali, an appointee of the president refused to wear the uniform of the office he is paid to occupy to address 109 elected senators representing the whole of Nigeria, some folk are defending Ali. Excuse me, what type of marijuana have you been smoking?
Has anyone told Ali that the organisation he heads is not a voluntary organisation. The Nigeria custom service is an organisation where people sign up to serve this country risking their lives at major entry point in this country for 35years. The rank and file get killed by smugglers regularly at the borders in that uniform he can't wear.
Has anyone told Mr. Ali that he could have rejected the appointment when he was nominated or is it appointed.
Ali is not the first man who is from the military to head the custom and shame on you if you ever think Ali is the best or Ali is I indispensable. Ali is Ali and just Ali he is.
Ali a single man disrespected a senate comprising of senators from all segments of this country and you think that's cool? Is there no one in the entire Nigeria customs who is fit to head the organisation that we have to go and invite this arrogant Old soldier to manage the Nigeria customs?
In the interest of fairness, is it right to allow men serve in an organisation where their chance of ever reaching the top is subject to the will of Soja_go_Soja_come political leaders of the country?
Is it not an assault on the sensibility and psychology of the men whom Hamadu Ali heads to be told that their uniform is too disgusting for their boss to wear?
Ali is just a man, just one man! I ask again is this man the best Nigeria has? When president Jonathan and president Buhari wore the military camouflage to visit the then military officers fighting the insurgency in the country, it is not for lack of cloths to wear. It is to send a message to the men in the battle field that we are together in this fight and I know the way you feel. When Hamadu Ali refused to wear that uniform he's also sending a message to his men too and that is "holy shit! look here guys, I am not one of you. I am better than you and this job is below my worth".
