OyoTunjiUSA: 🤠
1. If you are a PhD or an MSc student with work-study options, you can definitely present yourself as a self-funder (sponsor) , based on your years of work experiences , and the funds you have saved over time.
2. If there is no work-study (*GA, TA, RA etc) option in your admission , and you are single ( not married with kids or not living with them) with no or limited dependency expenses, then your salary of 800k can be justified as a self-funder. But if you are married with kids, a hard-line consular might find your savings untrue, based on the facts that you must have family commitments, rents, tax, kids school fees etc out of your monthly emoluments.
3. It's not of CO (consular officer) duty to suggest or decide your sponsor. Consular duty is to verify your source of funds. Therefore, your father can be a billionaire and decided to fund your education to any level , regardless of the fact that you are or have being working. Even, the natural student rule is that " Student (Bsc especially) cannot/should not sponsor themselves because you are not expected to work while studying, or your working hours (20hrs a week) can never pay up your whole tuition as a self sponsored ( apply mostly to Bsc and few MSc applicants. )
4. I think you can decide your option from my points above.
** GA (Graduate Assistant), TA (Teaching Assistant), RA (Research Assistant).
Best Wishes 🙏 God Bless you sir! |

OyoTunjiUSA: Hey 🤠
1. If i tell you what i think, it would be a fallacy or generalisation without studying your application. Just like my misunderstanding with @Cutiemercie. I have to see and study your application materials in order to deduce a reasonable solution.. Are you working in DHL or Oyotunji Blocks Industry to have warranted N800,000 monthly salary ? These are consular officers reasonings.
2. If you have worked with Oyotunji Blocks Industry for 5 years , you may not have garnered your claimed monthly salary (800,000) in juxtaposition with when you have worked with DHL for 5 years.
PS: To answer some questions without generalisation, one needs to study your application materials.
Best Wishes 🙏 Thank you sir, |

Jboyossai: UPDATE: This is an update in case of anyone facing similar issue. Mine reflected this morning and it's now in the pre-approval stage. It took them over two weeks to process. Things I did which I don't know if helped was creating a ticket with my complain and attaching my payment receipt and also sending them an email with my complaints and receipts. Nice one Were you asked to upload i20? And are you for Lagos embassy? |

OyoTunjiUSA: Hey 🤠
1. Your first degree can be a BA in Yoruba language, while your intending graduate degree in the USA is MA in Igbo language, and you can even decide that your PhD will be in Hausa. This is permissible, as there is no irrelevant courses of study in higher institutions. But, there must be a reasonable and genuine reasons for career/study path diversion or digression though.
2. As per @Highzhikk's cousin situation, the consular officer have studied his DS-160 , plus he has a strong magnet (relative) in America, and having caught him verbally, therefore, the consular will be looking for all tiny or flimsy excuses to deny him. Even, taking Lagos filled DS-160 to Abuja for interview is a good excuse to deny him in such scenario.
Your case is totally different. PS: Consulars must jot down their reasons for denying or approving an applicant. That is what you see them typing on the computer.
Best Wishes 🙏 Thank you sir… |

[quote author=OyoTunjiUSA post=131960131]Hey 🤠
1. VO: What course did you study at undergraduate level ? Was his undergraduate program aligned with his MSc ? Or he chosed the school because you have or can facilitate the admission ?
2 VO: How will you cover the deficit ? His answer was given to impress or trick the consular. Short answer and straight to the point next time. Besides, is he single or married ? Is he working or still living with your parents ?
3. VO: Do you have anyone in the US ? Which School is he ? Are you going to same school ? Which program is he doing ? How long has he been in the USA ? When does he plan to leave ? The VO knows that you facilitated everything, but wanted to be certain that your brother is aware and at the same time he (your brother) knows what he is doing. Highzhikk: Okay guys. I am the one that posted that “Can you use Lagos DS160 in Abuja” — the answer is Yes, you can because my brother did that today.
He interviewed in Abuja with the DS160 that he filled for Lagos. His visa was denied though because he mentioned that he has a brother in the US (Same school). I am currently doing a PhD in the same school that he is coming. The only question he got asked is *Do you have anyone in the US and where are they* which he answered truthfully as advised. He got his own 70% scholarship and we have a strong bank statement but was still denied.
I think its because I am in the same school, do you guys think he should reapply for the visa or what can he change? Sorry to hear the denial news, can we get the visa transcript? |

Jboyossai: I made my payment too since the 27th of last month and I've been stuck here too. Please can anyone help us 🙏. My payment was made through the online bank transfer option. Use the amentum reference number on the second pane of the page, input your payment slip amentum number and the date you paid then submit, try that multiple times at different minutes/hours interval. Just an idea I feel it should work. |

Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Ayomide98: 6:09pm On Sep 06, 2024 |
Greatchampion: Please apart from Firstbank, which other bank can I pay with. Also is it possible for me to make payment in the comfort of my home without going with this Amentum reference number to Firstbank. I am paying with my Naira account. Thank you You can’t pay in any bank other than FirstBank, however you can pay with a USD card, Alternatively to going to FirstBank physically, you can pay online through FirstBank service portal, the link is on the other side of the slip when you click generate slip, you’ll find a link where you can alternatively make your payment to FirstBank online, when you click the link, you’ll be asked to fill your details including the amentum reference number on the generated slip, it will then route you to a page where you’ll get a temporary account number tied to your visa payment to first bank and then you can make transfer to this account number from any of your bank, while you make the payment, stay on that payment page on your browser as it would automatically refresh itself to confirm your payment and generate you the receipt. |

Did you select Lagos as your appointment centre when you started the application on the portal initially? |

Highzhikk: Yes, I used the new portal, I paid on August 26th, and I was only able to select Abuja today even though my original location was Lagos that is why I am confused, my appointment is on tueday September 10. Oh nice, sorry for my questions… After payment, were you prompted to upload your i20? Or what’s been the status of your application before you were able to book today? |

Highzhikk: Hi everyone, I filled the DS160 and selected Lagos as the interview location, but when I went to the new appointment website, lagos was not working as it was say "something went wrong try later". I tried to see if its the same for Abuja and I clicked a date in Abuja now they have scheduled me for Abuja. I am unable to see where to put new Abuja DS160 Barcode number..
My question is can I use the DS160 for Lagos to interview in Abuja? Hi, unrelated.. Please was it new portal you used for your payment and when we were able to select date after payment? |

I'm I the only one with this payment issue and how do I go about it. Just a suggestion, Use the Amentum reference number, do it repeatedly till you see a change on your portal |
