Politics / One Word For BOLA AHMED TINUBU by Babafaros(m): 4:16pm On Apr 01, 2015
Bola Ahmed Tinubu (born 29 March 1952) was
elected Senator for the Lagos West constituency
in Lagos State , Nigeria in 1993, just before a
military take-over in December 1993. After the
return to democracy, he was elected governor of
Lagos State, holding office from 29 May 1999 to
29 May 2007. He is an influential member of the
All Progressives Congress party; he also holds
both the chieftaincy of the Asiwaju of Lagos and
that of the Jagaban of the Borgu Kingdom in the
Northern Niger State of Nigeria.

Early political career
His political career began in 1992, when he was
elected to the Nigerian Senate representing the
Lagos West constituency in the short-lived
Nigerian Third Republic. [4] After the results of
the 12 June 1993 presidential elections were
annulled, Tinubu became a founding member of
the pro-democracy National Democratic
Coalition (NADECO), which mobilized support for
the restoration of democracy and recognition of
the 12 June results. He went into exile in 1994
and returned to the country in 1998 after the
death of military dictator Sani Abacha , which
ushered in a transition to civilian rule.[5]
In the run-up to the 1999 elections, Bola Tinubu
was a protégé of Alliance for Democracy (AD)
leaders Abraham Adesanya and Ayo Adebanjo .
[6] He won the AD primaries for the Lagos State
gubernatorial elections in competition with Funso
Williams and Wahab Dosunmu, a former Minister
of Works and Housing. [7] In April 1999, he stood
for the position of Executive Governor of Lagos
State on the AD ticket and was elected.

REASONS WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO DIE FOR
ANY POLITICIAN BEFORE, DURING & AFTER
ELECTIONS
1. Former Governor, Engr. Segun Oni and Dr.
Kayode Fayemi used to be political foes and
now they belong to the same party. Both are
alive as friends and some folks had died
fighting for them.

2. By this time next week, one of the two prominent
Presidential candidates will emerge as. President.
His wife will become first lady, children will become
VIP. Me and my face book friends will return to our
different jobs. Nothing spoil life continue.

3. Former Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola never
loved to see eye balls to eye balls with Governor
Aregbesola now, they belong to the same party,
some people died for both, but they are now friends.

4. Who would have thought that Atiku would visit
Obasanjo in Otta farm after all the brouhaha;
Politicians belong to one big family.

They have their interest at stake, do not die for
them especially when you have nothing at
stake.Vote, that is your obligation. You do not owe
anyone a duty to die. Value your life, if you are still
alive you can be better than them. Say no to
violence, say no to blood letting.
Make a choice with your PVC. And let God
enthrone a king.

God bless.

Foreign Affairs / South Korea Legalises Adultery by Babafaros(m): 2:00am On Mar 11, 2015
South Korea’s Constitutional Court has thrown
out 60-year-old statute outlawing adultery under
which those found guilty face up to two years in
prison.
The nine-member bench ruled by seven to two
says the 1953 law was unconstitutional in a
judgement handed down on Thursday.
The court held that adultery was a private matter
in which the State should not intervene.
According to the presiding judge, Park Han-Chul
“even if adultery should be condemned as
immoral, state power should not intervene in
individuals’ private lives.”
It was the fifth time the Apex court had
considered the constitutional legality of the
legislation which had made South Korea one of
the few non-Muslim countries to regard marital
infidelity as a criminal act.
In the past six years, close to 5,500 people have
been formerly arraigned on adultery charges –
including nearly 900 in 2014.
The numbers had been falling, with cases that
end in prison terms increasingly rare.
In 2004, 216 people were jailed under the law in
2004. That figure had dropped to 42 by 2008, and
since then only 22 have found themselves
behind bars, according to figures from the state
prosecution office.

Nairaland / General / Cote D’ivoire Court Jails Former First Lady For 20 Years by Babafaros(m): 1:53am On Mar 11, 2015
The former first lady of Cote D’Ivoire, Simone
Gbagbo, has been sentenced to 20 years in
prison for her role in a 2011 post-election crisis
in which around 3,000 people were killed.
Gbagbo, who is also wanted by the International
Criminal Court (ICC), was tried with 82 other
allies of former President Laurent Gbagbo.
General Bruno Dogbo Ble, who headed the elite
republican guard, and former navy chief Admiral
Vagba Faussignaux were also each jailed for 20
years, their lawyer said, while others including
the ex-president’s son Michel got shorter
sentences.
Supporters of Laurent Gbagbo, whose refusal to
acknowledge his defeat by Alassane Ouattara in
elections in 2010 sparked a brief civil war,
claimed the trial was politically motivated.
Simone Gbagbo’s lawyer, Rodrigue Dadje, told
Reuters she had been found guilty of crimes
including disturbing the peace, organising armed
gangs and undermining state security
He said they would appeal against the verdict by
the end of the week, adding: “She is keeping her
morale up since she was more or less expecting
this.”
Her sentence, handed down in the early hours of
Tuesday by a six-member jury after nine hours
of deliberations, was longer than the 10 years
requested by the state prosecutor. Her civil
rights will also be suspended for 10 years, Dadje
said.
Crimes Against Ivorian State
Laurent Gbagbo is awaiting trial at the ICC
accused of crimes against humanity. Cote
D’Ivoire refused to transfer Simone Gbagbo to
The Hague to face similar charges, arguing that
she could receive a fair trial in a domestic court.
An ICC spokesman said her conviction in Cote
D’Ivoire would not affect the case before the
world court, which he said would continue to
seek her extradition by Ouattara’s government.
“Ms Gbagbo was convicted only of crimes
against the Ivorian state, not for the killings,
rape and crimes against humanity for which she
is to be tried by the ICC,” New York-based rights
campaigner Human Rights Watch said in a
statement.
Pascal Affi N’Guessan, president of Gbagbo’s
Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) party and seen as a
potential candidate to challenge President
Ouattara in elections this year, was handed an
18-month sentence.
But, credited with time served, he was freed, as
were nine ex-government ministers and four
journalists who had been among dozens of
Gbagbo’s allies arrested after the violence in
2011.
Simone Gbagbo said on Monday prosecutors had
insulted and humiliated her while failing to prove
her guilt.
“I’m prepared to forgive. I forgive because, if we
don’t forgive, this country will burn,” she said.
Though praised for his stewardship of Cote
D’Ivoire’s post-war recovery, Ouattara has been
accused by human rights groups of pursuing
one-sided justice against his former rivals while
ignoring abuses committed by his own
supporters.
In the commercial capital Abidjan, reaction was
divided, with some calling for the release of
Simone Gbagbo and the other defendants as a
gesture towards national reconciliation.

Politics / Nigerians React To Obasanjo’sdecision To Leave PDP by Babafaros(m): 4:10pm On Feb 16, 2015
Nigerians immediately reacted to the news that
former president Olusegun Obasanjo has left the
ruling party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
and his ward chairman tore Obasanjo’s
membership card.
Later information appeared that Ogun state
chapter of the PDP has announced Olusegun
Obasanjo’s removal from the party.
Former President didn’t give explanations for
this action, but the tensions between latter and
the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan
increased during past weeks.
Obasanjo accused Jonathan of failing in
leadership and encouraging corruption.
Last week, former president endorsed Mr.
Jonathan’s opponent, Muhammadu Buhari.
In his turn, President Jnathan on Saturday ,
February 14th, blamed the former president
forworking to create an Interim National
Government, which he hopes to head.

THEME : BE STEADFAST IN FAITH.
MEMORISE :
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is
not in vain in the Lord.
1 CORINTHIANS 15 : 58.

REVELATION 3 : 7 - 11.
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write;
These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he
that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no
man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an
open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a
little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not
denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan,
which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie;
behold, I will make them to come and worship before
thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I
also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which

Message
Many Christians believe in their pastor and the
doctrines of their Church. There is nothing wrong in
this in as much as the pastor is living right and the
doctrines are biblical. However, your faith and
steadfastness must be built on Jesus Christ, the
Author and Finisher of your faith who cannot
disappoint you. A man will backslide with his pastor,
if his faith anchors on the pastor and the pastor
backslides. This is the reason why you must know
Jesus Christ through and through. What you know
concerning Jesus Christ will make you steadfast if
you know Him adequately enough. The Holy Spirit
through Apostle Paul wrote this:
“But what things were gain to me, those I counted
loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things
but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ
Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of
all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win
Christ,”
Philippians 3 : 7 - 8.
You may want to ask, what do I know concerning the
Lord Jesus? I know that Jesus is alive. I am very
sure of this. I have very many testimonies to prove
this. I was always feeling ill and it was a monthly
occurrence despite medications. I had taken more
than two thousand injections without any respite.
However, when I started calling on the Name of
Jesus, I never fell ill again. For my wife and children,
He is just the same. Illness has been completely
removed from my home. He that you believe is alive
should surely help you to overcome just about any
problem and quickly too, if truly He is alive. If He is
dead, surely He cannot even help Himself. An
ordinary man cannot perform these miracles no
matter how deep he has gone into occultism. Satan
will cast you aside to face another person once he
knows he cannot take you away from Jesus Christ.
Just go on praising God if Satan brings illness to your
child. This attitude will shock the devil and make him
flee from you. He will see you as a mad man
rejoicing in the midst of trouble. The world and its
lusts would run from you if you can stand firm in
your faith. The Bible in Galatians 5 : 1 says :
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ
hath made us free, and be not entangled again with
the yoke of bondage.”
May the Lord uphold you to the end in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER POINT :
Father, I cannot hold myself; I put my trust in your
everlasting arm, please uphold me to the very end.

TOPIC>>PERFECT CHRISTIAN?
MEMORISE :
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your
Father which is in heaven is perfect. MATTHEW 5 :
48.
READ :
JOB 1 : 5 - 8.
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were
gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and
rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt
offerings according to the number of them all: for Job
said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed
God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came
to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan
came also among them.
7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest
thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said,
From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking
up and down in it.
8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou
considered my servant Job, that there is none like
him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one
that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR :
ACTS 20 : 17 - 22 : 21 AND
SONG OF SOLOMON 5 : 10 - 6 : 9.
Message
When we compare two things and we say one is
better than the other, it may not necessarily mean
that either of the two is desirable. But when we say
something is perfect, it means that it is good in itself
and there is no evil complaint about it. It also means
that it is so good that there is no need to improve on
it. This is the definition of the perfect Christian. A
perfect Christian is a Christian that is without blemish
– a Christ-like individual indeed. There are different
categories of Christians. There are those who have
been saved but not sanctified. These ones easily get
annoyed. They cannot be described as perfect
Christians. Some Christians are saved and sanctified.
These ones do not get annoyed. There was a time we
were rehearsing a drama that was to be staged in
our church. A part required that the actor should
become very annoyed. Our main actor could not
bring himself to be angry. We could not even get
someone among us to teach him how to be angry.
May you be sanctified to perfection in Jesus’ Name.
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the
Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto
obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
1 Peter 1 : 2.
To become a perfect Christian, you must first and
foremost be Holy Spirit filled. The Holy Spirit is
indispensable in the life of any Christian. Without the
Holy Spirit, it is not possible to have any of the
dimensions of the fruit that the Holy Spirit causes a
Christian to bear which makes a Christian perfect
(Galatians 5 : 22 - 23 ). For one to be a perfect
Christian, some things must manifest in the fellow’s
life. First, all things have to be done according to how
God Himself would do them. You must aspire to
please God in all that you do. Before doing anything,
no matter how trivial, first ask how you think God
would do it. Knowing that God can only do things
perfectly, you will see to it that it is perfectly done.
Secondly, a perfect Christian will aspire to get to
where God wants him to reach. He will never stop or
rest until God’s purpose for his life is accomplished.
Many Christians backslid because they had thought
that their position was the highest spiritual height
they could attain and as a result, they became
contented and stopped striving higher. May the Lord
bring you to perfection this season in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER POINT :
Father, make me as perfect as you want me to be in
Jesus’ Name.
Happy Sunday

TOPIC>>POWER TO BECOME A CHILD OF GOD
Memory Verse
But as many as received him, to them gave
he power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name:

John 1:12
Read:
John 1:9-13
1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth
every man that cometh into the world.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was
made by him, and the world knew him not.
1:11 He came unto his own, and his own
received him not.
1:12 But as many as received him, to them
gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of
the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God.
Message
There is virtually nothing anyone can do
without power. Power is described as the
ability to act or produce an effect. It is also
described as possession of control,
authority, or influence over others. The
types of power available in this world
include: physical, mental, political, economic
and spiritual. The good thing about the type
of power we are considering today is that it
pervades all spheres of human endeavour.
This power is the power to become a child
of God. It takes a great deal of power to
become a child of God; therefore, if anyone
wants to become a child of God, he or she
must access the power that is required to
bring about this transformation. This power
is accessed by receiving Jesus as your Lord
and Saviour. The power to become whatever
God designed you to be shall come upon
you today in Jesus’ Name.
After the fall of man in Genesis 3:6-10, all
human beings came under the influence
and control of the devil, and consequently
became children of the devil (John 8:44, 1
John 3:10). The Bible in Romans 3:23 says
that,
“For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God;”
Also in 1 John 3:8, the Bible further states
that:
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for
the devil sinneth from the beginning.”
To transform a person from being a child of
the devil to a child of God requires power.
To become a child of God, you must be
born-again by the power of the Holy Spirit
(John 3:5). The power in the Name of Jesus
is also involved in this process according to
1 Corinthians 6:11. The power in the Name
of Jesus brings about the justification (the
total wipe-out of a person’s past) necessary
to become a child of God. The word of God
also plays a key role in releasing power to
become a child of God (Ephesians 5:26). The
word of God empowers the sanctification
that is needed to become a child of God.
This marks you out as separated to God and
untouchable to the devil.
The rights and privileges associated with
being a child of God are so many that if you
have not given your life to Christ before
now, you must not allow today to pass you
by. When you become a child of God, you
become joint-heirs with Jesus Christ in
glory. You become bold to confront your
adversaries and they will flee from you. Your
prayers receive speedy answer from your
Father in Heaven. You will also make it to
Heaven when you close your eyes in death.
Praise the Lord.
Prayer Point:
Father, I reject the devil and his deeds. I
accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour from
today.

Memory Verse
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of
a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward;
and he that receiveth a righteous man in
the name of a righteous man shall receive a
righteous man’s reward.

Matthew 10:41
Read:
Matthew 10:40-42
10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me,
and he that receiveth me receiveth him that
sent me.
10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the
name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's

man in the name of a righteous man shall
receive a righteous man's reward.
10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink
unto one of these little ones a cup of cold
water only in the name of a disciple, verily I
say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his

Message
Elisha was devoted to serving the servant of
God, Elijah. This devotion was one of the
qualities that qualified him for uncommon
greatness. The Bible stated that Elisha
poured water on Elijah’s hand (2 Kings 3:11)
. With this and also as stated in our memory
verse, it is clear that there are lots of
blessings reserved for those who serve
God’s prophets. You can serve a man of God
without getting physical remuneration from
him. However, when a man of God
pronounces blessing on you saying “God
bless you”, he is not just paying you a
compliment. A casual “God bless you” from a
friend differs from that which a man of God
pronounces. A “God bless you” from a man
of God is loaded with prophetic blessings.
Hence you must be ready to do what will
qualify you for a divine benediction.
Recently, I was in the United States and one
of my sons in the Lord shared a testimony.
He testified thus:
“God surprised me during the General
Overseer’s (G.O.) previous visit. Prior to the
G.O.’s arrival, my pastor told me that he
had chosen me to drive the G.O. around
during his visit. I tried to explain to my
pastor that it might not be easy for me to
take up this assignment because I was
preparing for a major examination, but my
pastor insisted. I thought I could manage to
combine driving the G.O. with preparing to
write the crucial examination because my
understanding was that the G.O. would
spend just one day. To my surprise, the G.O.
spent a whole week. When he was leaving
he simply said, “God bless you”. To the glory
of God, I passed my exams in flying colours
and I got a new job and prospered
tremendously.”
May God remember all your labour of love
towards the ministers of God in Jesus’
Name.
Elisha was committed to the business of the
kingdom. Therefore, when Elijah asked to
know what he wanted, he had only one
answer: a double portion of the power on
Elijah (2 Kings 2:9). Elisha asked for what he
would use for God’s work. The Bible in
Matthew 6:33 says:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and
his righteousness; and all these things shall
be added unto you.”
God is looking for those who are concerned
about His kingdom’s business. As from
today, may the Lord grant you the mind to
work for Him and to work with His anointed
ministers.
Action Point:
Think of how you can extend the frontiers of
God’s kingdom on earth and start its
execution.

TOPIC>>WHAT TO DO TO GET THE BEST.
Memory Verse
But my God shall supply all
your need according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 4 : 19.
READ :
PHILIPPIANS 4 : 15 - 17.
15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the
beginning of the gospel, when I departed
from Macedonia, no church communicated
with me as concerning giving and receiving,
but ye only.
16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once
and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire
fruit that may abound to your account.
Message
One of the qualities which earned Elisha
greatness is hard work. Even if God decides
to bless you today, there is a level you may
never get to if you are lazy. Those who want
extraordinary blessings must be prepared to
work extraordinarily hard. The Bible in
Proverbs 22 : 29 says,
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business?
he shall stand before kings; he shall not
stand before mean men.”
Elisha was busy working hard. He did not lie
down lazily to command his father’s
labourers to work their fingers to the bone
for him. He was working alongside his
father’s labourers ( 1 Kings 19 : 19 ). Anyone
who desires divine breakthrough must be
ready to put up with hard work. All the
disciples of Jesus were hard working. He met
each one of them on duty when He called
them. Peter was a regular and skilful
fisherman before the Lord called him.
Matthew was at his work of tax collection
when the Lord called him. Christianity does
not excuse anyone from hard work. I had a
good number of friends when I became a
believer. Some of them were so lazy that
they went about talking big without
preparing for hard work. We were all taught
the principles of faith and positive
confession, but I knew that achieving
greatness in life goes beyond mere
confessions. My friends cultivated the habit
of saying: “I am the head and not the tail: I
shall prosper and lend to nations, I will
never borrow” etc. They made such
confessions without any corresponding hard
work to back them up. Some of them spent
five years making confessions like “I am a
millionaire and I possess a good car by
faith”. At the end of the day, they remained
as poor as they were at the beginning of
their confessions. If you refuse to work and
you go about confessing that you have
claimed the car of your dreams by faith, the
only car you will end up with will be your
two legs.
Another quality which earned Elisha
greatness is generosity. Immediately he was
called, he prepared a feast and fed his
people (1 Kings 19 : 21). The Bible in
Proverbs 11 : 24 says,
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth;
and there is that withholdeth more than is
meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”
You must learn how to work hard and give
generously if you really want to be great in
life. What qualified the Philippians for God’s
supplies in Philippians 4 : 19 is found in
Philippians 4 : 15 - 17. God will bless you
beyond your wildest dreams this season in
Jesus’ Name. However, work hard and give
generously to God’s work and the needy in
your neighborhood.
PRAYER POINT :
Father, give me the strength to work hard
and the seed to sow into your kingdom and
into the life of the needy. Bless me beyond
what I can ever imagine in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC>>YOUR BEST IS ON THE WAY.
Memory Verse
But as it is written, Eye hath
not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love
him.

1 CORINTHIANS 2 : 9.
READ :
1 KINGS 19 : 19 - 21.
19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha
the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with
twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with
the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and
cast his mantle upon him.
20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah,
and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father
and my mother, and then I will follow thee.
And he said unto him, Go back again: for
what have I done to thee?
21 And he returned back from him, and
took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and
boiled their flesh with the instruments of the
oxen, and gave unto the people, and they
did eat. Then he arose, and went after
Elijah, and ministered unto him.
Message
Elisha was a rich man even by current
standards. He was the son of a wealthy
farmer. Using today’s agricultural
terminology, we can say that Elisha’s father
had twelve “tractors” working for him on his
large farmland. A farmer who has twelve
tractors must without doubt be classified as
a millionaire. Although Elisha was rich, he
did not know that God had something
greater for him. In most instances, people
often hold on to what is good and miss out
on the better and the best. Those who have
experienced a measure of success or
financial prosperity, tend to settle for the
minimum while the maximum is begging to
be possessed. The tragedy of this situation
is that, those who have achieved just a
minimum level of prosperity conclude that
there is no better level to attain. Some
people climb few rungs on the ladder of
progress and settle down, whereas the
Almighty God has planned to take them to
the highest level of wealth attainable. Elisha
thought he was wealthy, but he did not
know that a day was coming when kings
would serve him and call him “Father”! He
thought he was going to die a rich farmer,
but God had a different plan for him. In like
manner, God has a glorious plan for you.
Presidents will serve you before you leave
this world in Jesus’ Name. The Bible says :
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor
ear heard, neither have entered into the
heart of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love him.”
1 Corinthians 2 : 9.
Elisha was wise. He traded his level of
achievement for a higher one by allowing
God to have His way in his life. Elisha
decided to surrender sugar for honey. On
the day the mantle of Elijah fell upon him,
his destiny changed. God brought him to the
realm of ultimate greatness. Elisha knew that
to receive ultimate greatness from God, he
needed to surrender what he was holding
on to. You must offer God what appears to
be your best at the moment, so that He can
give you what is better than your best. How
will God give you the best He has in store
for you? What will God do to make you rich
beyond your wildest imagination? I really
don’t know. However, what I know is that
God can do anything just to bless you.
Whatever He has promised, He definitely
will fulfil to the letter.
PRAYER POINT :
Father, please send your best to me today
and let my good give way for your best in
Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC>>GOOD NEIGHBOURLINESS.
Memory Verse
A man that hath friends must
shew himself friendly: and there is a friend
that sticketh closer than a brother.

PROVERBS 18 : 24.
READ :
2 KINGS 4 : 1 - 8.
1 Now there cried a certain woman of the
wives of the sons of the prophets unto
Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is
dead; and thou knowest that thy servant
did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come
to take unto him my two sons to be
bondmen.
2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do
for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the
house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath
not any thing in the house, save a pot of
oil.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels
abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty
vessels; borrow not a few.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt
shut the door upon thee and upon thy
sons, and shalt pour out into all those
vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which
is full.
5 So she went from him, and shut the door
upon her and upon her sons, who brought
the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels
were full, that she said unto her son, Bring
me yet a vessel. And he said unto her,
There is not a vessel more. And the oil
stayed.
7 Then she came and told the man of God.
And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy
debt, and live thou and thy children of the
rest.
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to
Shunem, where was a great woman; and
she constrained him to eat bread. And so it
was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned
in thither to eat bread.
Message
The widow of the dead indebted son of the
prophets lived in a predominantly poor but
friendly neighborhood. This can be
deduced from the response of her
neighbors to her request for empty vessels.
There are lessons to learn from this
interesting story, one of such is that: you
are living in the midst of opportunities.
Where you live right now is where your
miracles are. God will inspire you and like
that widow, you will discover that your
miracles are in your neighbourhood in
Jesus’ Name. The point to note here is that,
you must be friendly with the people living
around you. Can you imagine what would
have happened after Elisha told the widow
to go to her neighbours for the vessels with
which she must collect the object of her
miracles and she couldn’t because she was
not friendly with them? Can you imagine
what their response will be if she had
fought all the people in her neighborhood?
The Bible in Proverbs 18 : 24 says,
“A man that hath friends must shew
himself friendly: and there is a friend that
sticketh closer than a brother.”
In so many instances, you do not need to
relocate from where you are to get your
breakthrough. In Genesis 26 : 1 - 3, we
come across another interesting story in
which God commanded Isaac not to go
down to Egypt. God commanded him to
stay in Gerar despite the famine in that
land. He stayed and God blessed him
mightily. In like manner, God is going to
prosper you no matter the economic
recession in your neighborhood or in your
country. There is a river in your
neighborhood that harbors a particular fish
with a gold coin in its belly. All you need to
do is to catch the fish, open its mouth and
claim the coin that will enrich you for life
( Matthew 17 : 27 ). There are some people
in your neighbourhood, who have more
money than they can ever spend in a
lifetime. You only need to reach out to
them with the message of salvation. Do you
know that those that are extremely rich are
hungry for the message of salvation? There
was a young lady that preached to a rich
man and he gave his life to Christ. This
man became so filled with the joy of
salvation that he decided to give something
to this sister. He purchased a brand new
car as a gift for this sister in appreciation
for the salvation of his soul. What God did
for that sister, He can do for you. Go out
and be a good neighbour to those around
you by offering them the message of hope
and salvation. You will be surprised at how
God can reward your labour of love. Be a
good neighbour today by evangelising to
the lost souls in your neighborhood.
ACTION POINT :
Go out and preach the gospel to your
neighbours today.

TOPIC>>HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS.
Memory Verse
For there is hope of a tree, if it
be cut down, that it will sprout again, and
that the tender branch thereof will not
cease.

JOB 14 : 7.
READ :
2 KINGS 4 : 1 - 7.
1 Now there cried a certain woman of the
wives of the sons of the prophets unto
Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is
dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did
fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to
take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do

not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt
shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons,
and shalt pour out into all those vessels,
and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 So she went from him, and shut the door
upon her and upon her sons, who brought
the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels
were full, that she said unto her son, Bring
me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There
is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
7 Then she came and told the man of God.
And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy
debt, and live thou and thy children of the
rest.
Message
If you are a student of the Bible, you would
have discovered through divine inspiration
that the presence of God in any situation
causes a turnaround of that situation with
positive results. For example, when God
comes into the situation of a debtor, the
debtor can become a lender to nations and
a poor widow could become the richest
person in her community. There is a
beautiful story in the Bible reading of today,
which illustrates the fact that the poorest
can become the richest and that an outcast
can become a celebrity. When you have an
encounter with God, and you carry out the
divine instructions given to you at the
instance of that encounter, your story would
become a reference point that people would
use in pointing out the wonders of God. A
widow who had lost every hope had an
encounter with God when she came across
Elisha the prophet. She got a miracle which
altered the course of her life’s history.
“Now there cried a certain woman of the
wives of the sons of the prophets unto
Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is
dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did
fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to
take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.”
2 Kings 4 : 1.
There are certain lessons to be learnt from
the story of this widow such as the fact that
she desperately cried for help. From this, we
see that for any hopeless fellow to receive
help from the “Present Help in the time of
need” ( Psalm 46 : 1 ), he or she needs to
cry to Him. God is eager to intervene in the
affairs of those who will cry to him for help.
The Bible in Jeremiah 29 : 13 says :
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye
shall search for me with all your heart.”
Those who seek God with all their heart will
find him. As long as you decide to manage
your situation or remain at your present
level and condition, the cry of your prayer
will be far from being desperate. But when
you are really tired of your situation like this
widow, you will cry out to God desperately.
The Bible did not say the widow had a chat
with Elisha, but that she cried unto Him
because she was in desperate need of a
miracle. Also, we are not told that the
widow murmured before Elisha, but that
she cried. The widow did not grumble to
attract the attention of the prophet of God;
she cried out for divine intervention. The
widow got attention and her problem was
permanently solved. God is going to answer
your cry today and you will sing a new song
of victory, super-abundance, peace and joy
unspeakable in Jesus’ Name.
ACTION POINT :
Cry unto God and tell Him where your
“shoes hurt” and He will grant you
permanent relief.

But unto none of them was Elias sent, save
unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman
that was a widow.

Luke 4:26
Read:
Luke 4:25-26
4:25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows
were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the
heaven was shut up three years and six
months, when great famine was throughout
all the land;
4:26 But unto none of them was Elias sent,
save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a
woman that was a widow.
Message
Working hard and praying hard are
prerequisite to enjoying God’s abundance.
Apart from these, another secret of
abundance is consistent sowing. You must
keep sowing if you want to experience
abundant life. The first seed you sow may
open the door to blessings, but it takes
persistent sowing to keep the door of
blessings open. Let us take a closer look at
the story of the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings
17:10-16). What opened the door of blessing
to her was the first cake she made for
Elijah, but what kept the food flowing was
the fact that everyday, she kept on making
cakes for Elijah. Your initial act of giving can
take you to a level of abundant blessing.
However, what will lead you to the level of
ultimate abundance is persistent giving. The
loss would have been unimaginable, if by
the third day, this widow had stopped
giving. This would have resulted in the
drying up of her source of supply. Let us
also learn a lesson from Solomon’s
example. The first time he sacrificed unto
God, he offered a thousand offerings. God
prospered Him in no small measure through
a mighty harvest that was unleashed on him.
The next time he sacrificed unto God, he
offered twenty two thousand oxen. 1 Kings
8:63 says:
“And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace
offerings, which he offered unto the LORD,
two and twenty thousand oxen, and an
hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So
the king and all the children of Israel
dedicated the house of the LORD.”
Solomon kept on increasing in wealth
because he kept on giving. At the end, he
attained the level of ultimate financial
breakthrough. He became so rich that
nobody could attempt to count the amount
of silver he had. For someone reading this
devotional, you will become so rich that
only higher denominations of money will
matter to you. When your workers bring in
the proceeds from your business, you will
tell them to hand in the higher
denominations and keep the lower
denominations for themselves. Let’s ask
ourselves this question: “What is the mystery
behind the giving done by the widow of
Zarephath?” It is an uncommon faith in God.
It is this faith that made her to give her only
means of sustenance. She gave her only
food to Elijah because she needed to
surrender the future into the hands of the
God of Elijah. For these secrets of abundant
blessing to work for you, you must first give
your life to Jesus Christ. You must surrender
your life to Him today if you have not done
so already. Today can become your moment
of supernatural breakthrough.
Prayer Point:
Father, I hand over my life to you; take care
of my future in the Name of Jesus.

Memory Verse
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God
gave the increase. So then neither is he that
planteth anything, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7
Read:
Genesis 26:12-14
26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and
received in the same year an hundredfold:
and the LORD blessed him.
26:13 And the man waxed great, and went
forward, and grew until he became very
great:
26:14 For he had possession of flocks, and
possession of herds, and great store of
servants: and the Philistines envied him.
Message
You must be prepared to work hard if you
want abundance. Nevertheless, it is quite a
different thing to work hard, and another
thing to experience abundance. Although
God may grant you open doors to financial
favour, it is your responsibility to work
towards getting to the pinnacle of all-round
abundance. To achieve this, you will be
required to do a great deal of hard work.
Diligence in hard work is always rewarded.
Farmers work hard to reap beautiful harvest.
When farmers sow seeds, they begin to
grow, but weeds also alongside the seeds
sown. Therefore, besides nurturing the good
seeds, you must also work hard to get rid of
weeds. You are not only expected to work
hard, but also to pray hard. Anyone who
desires an encounter with the Almighty,
which would yield the ultimate abundant
blessing, must be ready to work and pray
hard.
    “I have planted, Apollos watered;
but God gave the increase.”
1 Corinthians 3:6
Paul may plant and Apollos may water but it
is God alone who gives the increase. You
must learn to pray hard and call upon God
to give you increase. Lazy people cannot
experience all-round blessing. Those who
are not prepared to work and pray hard are
not yet ready for any form of meaningful
breakthrough. Remember to put God first
when your harvest begins. The Bible
commands that we must honour God with
our first fruits. Some people harvest and
allow the proceeds to waste away. Until you
learn to honour God with your substances,
you will not be able to benefit even from the
harvest you have laboured for. The Bible
attributes one of the reasons for fruitless
efforts to failure to put God first in our
harvests (Haggai 1:4-6). Some people gather
their harvests and put them in bags with
holes. The problem of leaking bags
emanates from failure to honour God by
giving Him the first fruits of our harvest. If
you do not give to God, you may end up
wasting away the proceeds of your harvest.
Those who harvest into bags with holes are
those who refuse to put God first. Put God
first in all your earnings as from today and
you will experience abundance.
Action Point:
Think of the ways you have been robbing
God of His tithes and first fruits. Repent and
perform restitution.
