Absolute nonsense. We just completely wasted time, we are looking like fools and have put ourselves in a very terrible situation.

When we should have offered 2m more per season for Ugarte over a 5 -year contract, we were forming prudent club. Now wanted to carry 50* the money splash on top Caicedo.

I implored us to leave the £80m business alone and scout talents. We could have signed Trindade, a better fit for DM, many weeks ago for peanuts. More importantly, he could have been training tactically and we would have saved ourselves from this embarrassment.

But once you got into the whole shopping-in-the-£100m-aisle nonsense, you either had to make the decision to stump up the cash, or freaking walk away. We didn't neither. Instead just wasted valuable time bidding in £5m increments.

Now we have the look of desperate fools to the rest. Hopefully Tridade and Lavia are still on the market for decent money.

A good DM keeps you in the game, you can achieve that for low fee. The big bucks is paid for the consistent matchwinners who get your goals and assists.

The world must have gone crazy these past few months. I thought Caicedo was the second coming of Xavi with the way he was hyped here. Someone I won't pay more than £50m for.

If it's not Caicedo it will be someone else, after all there was no Caicedo last summer. There may be someone new next window or summer.

Brighton want an end to Caicedo saga quickly, so they can acquire targets.

Currently, Chelsea’s plan is not to bid first for Caicedo & rather match Liverpool’s bid.

Sources at both Chelsea & Liverpool know Caicedo prefers Chelsea & believe Caicedo will be a Chelsea player.
