Yoruba is the most tribalistic tribe on earth surface. Educated people thinking like clowns
Igbo taught them with your comments online!

They are so detribalized to the extent that an Igbo man(Ben Akabueze) was made commissioner of budget in Lagos!...you paid them back by hating the man that made it happen and wished him death, you also went further by boasting that the place is nothing without you.

Kenneth okonkwo an Igbo man left OBI& Labour party-you kept quiet
Doyin Okupe,a yoruba man left-you called him all sort of name and celebrated his death!....The only tribe that wish death on someone they hate, from Buhari to Tinubu to WIKE

Source of joy and happiness has turned to sadness because of one man policy. Before if someone give birth to either twins or triplet, people will gather to celebrate and fecilitate. But since Baba Sope has become president, to live has become extremely difficult for common man not to talk of taking up responsibilities. The most painful part is that some fools here are still supporting this calamity that has brought untoward suffering to the masses.
Go and sleep

Is it the first time men abscond after multiple delivery?

We are also well aware that Hospitals and Physicians employ only Lab Technicians or graduates of Science Lab Tech instead of licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist to run their labs in order to cut costs.

Don't you think the employment of quacks and non-qualified personnel contribute significantly to these medical errors and disregard of lab tests?
Yes they do.

Do you have any data on the prevalence of clinical misdiagnosis in our hospitals? It was 32.4% when I did my M.Sc few years ago. Are we sure the disregard of medical test results do not contribute to these figures?

Nigeria is one of the easiest countries where you can get away with medical malpractice/negligence. We all know that and we know why. Illiteracy on the part of the patient/patient's relatives contributes to a part of it.

I am very much aware that many patients and relatives are now getting to know their rights in a country like Nigeria with a chaotic healthcare system.

May God help us all.
Alot of factors can contribute to misdiagnosis, not only disregard of test result(which most of the time is valid, study medicine and you will know why).
Laboratory errors from your end can also contribute, doctors poor clinical decision making,Nurses ineptitude etc. That is why the doctor whose the bucks end on his table have to be deligent and have high index of suspicion when your lab result,Nurses vital signs and radiographers results and not in keeping with his clinical assessment. There was a reputable hospital where I had once worked whose malaria test was never negative after working there for good 6mths.I had to alert the CMD and lab head.

So,disregarding results (A perfect example is when you grow staph aureus in ?CAUTI) is the least cause of misdiagnosis compared to what I listed above.

The second paragraph says Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics is well within the professional boundaries of Medical Laboratory Scientist.

If you dispute it, you can provide counter evidential facts. We are on a public forum, and people are reading and learning.

Let's enhance their knowledge about the medical field.
Who is saying that his opinion doesn't hold water when he actually help the doctors in SOME of the diagnosis...and you are not the only ones that do,Nurses also help with their vital signs and fluid charts.Although, there are thousands of diseases whose diagnosis are purely clinical. No test is needed to confirm, especially most psychiatric illness and some surgical diseases.

The point is that he doesn't have the final say and he doesn't have any reason to argue.Give him your lab result, you have done your job.The doctor will combine the result with so many other information he has that the scientist doesn't have to make his conclusion. He will also never interfer in the way you mix your chemicals or view your microscope to get your result even though he has an idea.

There are times doctors disregard lab findings base on so many other parameters and guildelines. Its not as straightforward as you think. For example, that a nurse gives a doctor high BP reading doesn't mean he should start treating the patient for hypertension. There are so many things to be considered, including some of the informations that might come from your lab to make that decision.

That your second to the last paragraph is not your work, although you may have an idea just like the pharmacist and other paramedics do.Just like the doctors may have an idea of some test procedure, but it's still not his work!.The doctors are at the central stage of clinical decision making, using data gathered from your lab result,Nurses vitals, his clerking and examination findings some times pharmacist advice on some drugs profile and that is why he has the final say. There are so many things to consider to make clinical decisions, not only your lab result.

Doctors respect you and appreciate the good work you do to make the whole management go smoothly. Everyone should just maintain his lane.

God bless us

If you are making on your own clinical diagnosis by only the observation of sign and symptoms, nobody is quarrelling with you. You are well within your right as a physician.

However Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics is entirely within his professional purview.
As long the diagnosis involves medical laboratory input, he is requested to make his input. He is an expert, expected to be very much grounded in one of the many subfields of medical laboratory diagnostics.

Headache, Fever, Anorexia are symptoms shared by thousands of different diseases, the Medical Laboratory is there to make differential and definitive diagnosis based on the patient's demographics, clinical manifestations etc..as it did during the COVID-19 global scourge.

The job descriptions are clear, the MLS is well-versed and can discuss the diseases he investigates in the lab. Infact he sees the causative organisms and agents of these disease more often than you do as part of the exigencies of his job.

So, pray tell, why do you think his opinion should hold no water when diseases and diagnostics are being discussed?

If he graduated from those places I mentioned earlier or has a PhD..He is a Doctor of MedLab and a primus inter pares in his field.

The Physician has his own job description, just as the Pharmacist does..

The MLS guy did not tell you he is a Physician. He is a Medical Scientist and his opinion on Medical Diagnostics cannot be dismissed. He definitely knows more than you do on Medical Laboratory procedures and the validity of clinical laboratory testing. That is his field and he is expected to be an authority therein. He does not need to back to any school to claim what he already has if wishes to remain and practice in Medical Laboratory Science.

Just as the opinion of a Pharmacist on drugs cannot be dismissed by a Physician. It is not about ego, it is about the lives on the line. The Pharmacist is king in that field.

If you had told us the MLS guy was arguing with you about Surgical procedures, then I would fault him, as that is not within the purview of his training.

We must not mislead people here on public platforms, because you feel the urge to sustain a certain bias or agenda.
Making a diagnosis is still not within the purview of his training.Making diagnosisis beyond conducting lab test. There is a difference between medicine and medical lab science. Also, there is a difference between medicine and surgery.
You are the one misleading people here!

If he studied the D.MLS in Ghana, India or US, yes he is a Doctor of MedLab.

And yes, interpreting medical laboratory results accrued from clinical laboratory testing methodologies is within the purview of Medical Lab Scientist/Biomedical Scientist. Ask Grok or Meta.

This is also dependent on the level of education, training and experience of the Scientist.

For instance, to perform and interpret High-complexity test in the US, you would need higher experience as an MLS, specialized training or even a M.Sc. In the UK, you would need to be a Specialist Biomedical Scientist on a higher Band.

The same thing applies to physicians, you can't compare a fresh Post-NYSC green-horn physician to a Consultant in Nephrology.
But he is not a medical doctor right?
There is a clear cut job description
He is not meant to make diagnosis and formulate management plan.He can't become a medical doctor
through the backdoor.

His doctor is like that of a Ph.d holder.
If he so much desires to be making diagnosis and manage patient he should enrol in a medical school.

A state that doesn't generate a billion yet you hear citizens claiming that the governor stole billions of dollars. Even if he stole everything the state made in a year,it wouldn't be up to $2bn. How many states have a budget of $2bn except Lagos, Abuja and maybe Kano. So let's say the government steals 100% of everything all to himself,he won't accumulate billions of dollars.

There is a reason why the smart Muslims in yoruba land from Markaz agege, chief Imam of yoruba land, ibadan council of Imams are rejecting the conquest moves by Sokoto into yoruba land.
They even resisted moon sighting dictation this Ramadan.

Same Sultan has never condemned his kinsmen for the killing and raping of our people in the south.
Same people kicked against Amotekun that is meant to protect our land against marauders.

I once asked a brother from ilorin why the likes of Solagberu and Yoruba Muslims couldn't not have been installed as the oba of ilorin and he couldn't say a word.

Same fulani blood who couldn't allow traditionalist to freely practice their rite in at an odo IYEMỌJA in ilorin now are preaching "it is only for Muslims"
