6. Unknown: "Jesus died poor because He didn't tithe".

7. Pastor Adeboye: "anyone who doesn't pay tithes won't make heaven". (He's since apologized for this heretic teaching though)

8. Pastor Adeboye: "Jesus was not a parish pastor. He was a world evangelist", as to why "Jesus didn't collect tithes". (Expecting an apology for this one very soon)

Our purchasing power has been so eroded that Nigeria's minimum wage of N70,000 can only buy 55 litres of gasoline. The Naira is so useless now that given N100k to anyone is like giving them N1000 in 5 years ago.

Tinubu and his followers are suffering in silence, yet defending failures.

If defending d currency will bring about stability then why not...as i hav been saying,there is no progressive nation thst govt do not subsidized something extremely important like power,house heating etc.Also,there is no progressive nation thst govt do not defend their currency.Tpain was serious agidi frm d start....free float of naira is a big mistake to an economy that is solely dependent on exchange rate n price of petrol.

Obi has shown with that statement that he is more interested in sustaining an unsustainable import based economy, since an artificially propped naira will benefit only importers like himself.

How sustainable is this?

How can an import based economy provide jobs and enhance local production ?

Will this not lead to more trade deficit and turn Nigeria to a dumping ground and stifle local industries? And in no due time see to dwindling of FX earnings ?

Another poster here once related how Shagari's govt on the urging of Alex Ekweme liberalised importation in the 80s by lifting the ban on importing certain products produced locally and how that dissatrous policy saw to many local companies struggling.

I have said it here that the SE business model of importation has done a lot of damage to our local industrial base.

This is the same Obi that has been telling us he wants to move Nigeria's economy from consumption to production but here he is now promoting more importation by defending the naira through borrowed FX?

Hello BOT,u sound like d low IQ one here.Subsequent government hav been defending d naira.While that is not a good long term approach to solving inflation n fall of naira....it help maintained cost of living.An economy like ours is unique n does not necessary abide by ur regular ecenomic laws.We are unfortunately a dollar petrol dependent economy.we export almost nothing n import almost everything.
Once naira falls ,inflation follows,cost of fuel increase, interest rate skyrockets thereby causing lack of funding for smes to manufacturing which in other words translate to even more reliance on import.....
Wat tpain ought to hav started wit is partial subsidy removal,then tackle security in d north proper so we self reliant in feeding,borrow massively to fund power n proper monitoring of this funds so it doesn't get looted.
Do this within d 1st term in governance n succeed then before he can talk abt total subsidy removal n floating of naira

The headlines screaming, ‘President Tinubu Increases Fuel Price’ are inaccurate and do not reflect the actual situation. Nigerians ought to understand that fuel subsidy has been removed. It was scheduled for removal by the preceding Buhari administration and was implemented in 2023.

It betrays a lack of understanding of corporate governance and unawareness of how government operates when politicians and activists attack President Bola Tinubu over statements and actions of the NNPCL.

If the public is not made aware that such criticism knowingly or inadvertently passed on wrong information to them, they will act on this incorrect information as though it were true.

The NNPCL is a limited liability company that is not subject to the President’s direct control. The NNPCL right now is like the NLNG Limited and, to a limited extent, the CBN.


Both the NLNG Ltd and the NNPCL are answerable to their board. They can spend money outside the budget because they are not a Ministry, Department or Agency of the government. They are just like any other company, such as MTN, First Bank or Indorama. The only difference between these companies and the NNPCL is their ownership. They are owned by private individuals and are publicly traded. The Nigerian state owns the NNPCL.


The Federal Government has majority shares, which gives the President the power to appoint the GMD.

To an extent, the NNPCL is like the CBN, which, though the President appoints the Governor, is still independent of the President and the Government.

Ownership and control of the NNPCL are separate. These changes were not even made by the Tinubu administration and are settled.


Yes, the President is the Minister of Petroleum Resources. However, critics mistakenly think this places him in control of the NNPCL.

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources is limited to regulating the industry and ensuring that IOCs and other significant stakeholders have an enabling environment.

The relationship is very similar to that between the Ministry of Power and the Gencos and Discos.


These generating companies (Gencos) are privately owned and have a minority stake held by the federal government of Nigeria. As such, the Ministry of Power has a regulatory role in the industry. That is the whole essence of deregulation.

And it is not peculiar to Nigeria.

The British equivalent of NNPCL is British Petroleum. It is a wholly privately owned company, similar to British Gas and British Airways.

Only a policy illiterate will hold the British Government responsible for their internal runnings.

The NNPCL determines the cost of petrol based on market forces rather than a Presidential caveat.

Thus, the headline should read-NNPCL Increases Fuel Prices.
