Foreign AffairsSurviving Member Of German Neo-nazi Murder Cell Jailed For Life by Bilaludeen(op): 11:11pm On Jul 11, 2018
The only surviving member of a German neo-Nazi cell behind a shocking series of racist murders was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison, capping one of the longest and politically charged trials of the post-war period.

Beate Zschaepe, 43, was found guilty of 10 counts of murder for her complicity in the deadly shootings of nine Turkish and Greek-born immigrants and a German policewoman.

Zschaepe and her former lovers Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Boehnhardt had formed a militant clandestine group they called the National Socialist Underground (NSU).

The trio carried out the killings from 2000 and 2007, as well as two bombings and 15 bank robberies, before the two men died in an apparent suicide pact after a bungled bank heist in 2011.

The scope of the NSU’s crimes only came to light after the men’s deaths, when Zschaepe released a macabre confession video set to a Pink Panther cartoon theme.

Germany, which has long struggled to atone for its Nazi past, was shocked to learn that the series of killings, previously blamed by police on immigrant crime gangs, had in fact been committed by organised fascists from the country’s formerly communist east.

Judge Manfred Goetzl handed down the highest sentence citing the “exceptional severity of the crime,” meaning Zschaepe could stay behind bars beyond Germany’s regular maximum 15-year prison term.

Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Twitter that the ruling meant Germany was “standing up to racist violence with the strength of the law,” and added that “the victims remain unforgotten”.

The mammoth trial had run since May 2013 and heard 800 witnesses and experts. Critics said many questions remain unanswered, including how the killers stayed undetected for so long and whether some undercover state informants knew of the NSU’s existence.

In 2012, Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged that Germany would “do everything we can to clear up the murders”.

That same year, then head of Germany’s BfV domestic intelligence agency, Heinz Fromm, was forced to resign when it emerged his service had shredded files related to the NSU suspects.

The chairman of a parliamentary inquests into the case, Uli Groetsch, said it was clear that the three were “supported by a broad network of neo-Nazis”.

On the eve of the verdict, Abdulkerim Simsek, son of the first NSU murder victim Enver Simsek, said: “I’m 100 percent sure that there are still accomplices out there.”

The head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Josef Schuster, urged the government to take the danger of rightwing extremism “more seriously”, especially after the far-right AfD party entered parliament last year, warning this threatened the “erosion of our democracy”.

Zschaepe has admitted to crimes such as helping plot bank robberies but insisted she only learnt of the murders after they were committed, and her defence immediately filed an appeal.

The woman who grew up in the extremist skinhead subculture of post-reunification east Germany, last week told the court that racist ideology has “no meaning for me anymore”.

Judge Goetzl, painting a picture of the extremism that consumed the group, said Mundlos “hated the multicultural melting pot in Germany” and had even developed an anti-Semitic video game in which players shot Jews.

“Zschaepe took on the far-right views of her environment,” said the judge, adding that she formed a firm bond with racist friends.

Among them were four men also convicted Wednesday for supplying the NSU with the murder weapon, cash, identity papers and logistical and moral support during their years in hiding.

Ralf Wohlleben, a former member of the far-right NPD party, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for complicity in nine counts of murder.

Carsten Schulze was also convicted of complicity but got three years under the juvenile penal code, and Holger Gerlach received three years for backing a terrorist organisation.

PoliticsPDP Demands Adeosun’s Sack Over Alleged NYSC Certificate Forgery by Bilaludeen(op): 8:29pm On Jul 07, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari and Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun
Following allegation of forgery of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate by Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, charged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack, arrest and arraign her.

In a statement issued in Abuja by Kola Ologbondiyan, its
National Publicity Secretary, the party urged the the President not to provide a cover for Adeosun “in the character of his Presidency whenever close allies or agents are found wanting on issues of corruption.”

The party said the revelation vindicates its stand that the Buhari Presidency is “a haven of fraudsters, common thieves and persons of questionable character, adding that the recent revelation has cast a full-length dark shadow on the overall integrity of his administration.”

The statement added: “The world can now see how the Buhari Presidency has been concealing sharp practices under it. We can now see why there is humongous corruption under President Buhari’s watch and why Mr President has refused to take any concrete steps to check the sleazes in his administrations.

“Perhaps such ‘artful dodgers’ were deliberately hired and placed in revenue related agencies to perfect the pilfering of our common patrimony for interests in the Buhari Presidency.”

The PDP challenged President Buhari to prove himself a man of integrity by allowing an open system-wide and independent inquest into all alleged corrupt practices in his presidency.

It further said: “We challenge President Buhari to be bold to allow an open independent inquest into the exact figures amounting to the trillions of naira oil revenue earned by the nation in the last three years and how he had spent same with Mrs. Adeosun as minister of finance.

“Mr President should allow an open inquest into his handling, with Mrs Adeosun, of all our depleted foreign financial instruments, including the Excess Crude Account (ECA), from which funds were taken without recourse to the National Assembly.

“President Buhari should also allow an inquest into his administration’s borrowing of over N10 trillion in 30 months, with Mrs Adeosun as minister of finance and the purposes for which the money was used.

“Furthermore, we challenge President Buhari to allow an inquest into the leaked memo at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) showing N9 trillion corrupt oil contracts as well as the alleged stealing of N1.1 trillion worth of crude oil, all in a sector under his direct purview as minister of Petroleum.

“We also demand for an open investigation into the N18 billion Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) intervention fund and the N10 billion National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) alleged to have been stolen from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by APC officials and Presidency cabal.”

The social giant is in talks to bring the Ronaldo docu-series to Facebook Watch, its video platform for TV-style content, according to multiple sources.

Facebook is prepped to invest substantial coin in the project: The Portuguese footballer could get a paycheck of around $10 million for the 13-episode show, sources say.

CAA is packaging the series, to be produced by Matador Content and Religion of Sports, a sports-media firm founded by Gotham Chopra, Michael Strahan, Tom Brady and production company Dirty Robber.

Sources differed on how advanced the negotiations are; one said a deal is close to being finalized while another characterized the talks as nascent.

Reps for Facebook, CAA and Religion of Sports declined to comment. Matador founder and CEO Jay Peterson did not respond to a request for information.

Ronaldo is the most popular athlete on Facebook — he has more than 120 million followers for his official page — and is among the most-recognized sports celebrities in the world.

PoliticsIt’s Evil To Say I Condone Herdsmen Killings, Says Buhari by Bilaludeen(op): 10:42pm On Jul 06, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday rejected link wit herdsmen accused of perpetrating killings in parts of the country, saying that those accusing him because he is of Fulani extraction, have evil minds.
He spoke when he received the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states at the presidential villa, Abuja on Thursday, saying that his accusers do so for political reasons.

The President said: “When some, for clearly political purposes, attempt to suggest that this government is doing nothing about the killings, and that I, being Fulani, must be encouraging these satanic acts, it seems to me that there is no limit to the evil in the minds of men.
“Otherwise, how can anyone in their right minds suggest that I, as an elected President even with substantial votes in the affected areas, will for any reason do harm by an act of omission to those same people?
“Indeed, in 2001, you may recall that after thousands were killed in Plateau State, a State of Emergency was declared and a Governor was replaced by an Administrator.“To suggest that our Administration is doing nothing is terribly unfair.

“We must not forget that the same Plateau State which has been crisis-ridden for years has in the past three years been celebrated for its peacefulness. The Governor’s hard work for peace and the presence of the military’s Operation Safe Haven must have had some impact.”
Buhari observed that the recent killings in Benue, Zamfara and lately Plateau are wicked, condemnable and completely unacceptable acts, saying that Nigerians, are religious people and no religion or culture accepts the killing of people for any reason whatsoever.
He said this is why all must rise as one to condemn “these vile and wicked acts to ensure that all the culprits are brought to justice.”
The president added: “We owe it to the memory of those who lost their lives in the violence in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Zamfara and elsewhere since 1999 to bring the conflicts to a decisive end. I assure you that we will do this.

“Let me make it clear that even a single life lost in any part of the country is one too many. I came to office vowing to ensure the protection of lives and property, and I remain committed to this despite the challenges we have experienced.”
He sought the support of the religious leaders, informing that beyond deploying forces, government is creating the platform and mechanisms for dialogue is a collective effort.

Meanwhile, the Northern states CAN has tasked the president to be more proactive in dealing with the herdsmen killings in the zone.

In a 10-point prayer presented to the president during the meeting, Chairman CAN Northern States, Rev Yakubu Pam, said: “That the security architecture of the country should be re-visited to give it a new lease of life and responsiveness to earn the required trust, confidence, and support of the general populace.“

All communities ravaged by the herdsmen violence in the North should be rebuilt and adequate security be put in place to enable displaced persons to return to their homes and means of livelihood

“The Federal Government should roll out a robust advocacy programme to enlighten the nomadic herders on modern cattle rearing against open grazing and roaming across states and national boundaries.

“The federal government should encourage herders to acquire land for cattle ranching across the country as a means of private business investment “

The Federal Government under the current administration is celebrating an agricultural revolution, most farmers, especially in the north, can no longer go to their farms due to the sustained attacks by armed herdsmen. We, therefore, urge the government to reconcile its priority by providing the necessary safety for the farmers to go on with their farming activities.
“Observe that the continuous abduction of underaged Christian girls who are forcefully converted to Islamic religion and given out for marriage without the consent of their parents breeds religious disharmony. We, therefore, wish to state that the situation does not only violate the fundamental human rights of the girls but is also a call to anarchy if such actions were to get an even score by the Christian population. The appeal, therefore, is for your quick intervention to ensure that the numerous girls held under such circumstances are released to their parents.

“In the spirit of the above observation, we wish to demand that intensive and speedy actions should be taken for the release of girls in captivity, especially Leah Sharibu.
“That all perpetrators including the so-called foreigners as alleged of these heinous crimes against humanity in parts of northern states should be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others
“The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency make adequate provisions for farmers who have been adversely affected by this undesirable herdsmen attacks.

“We are appealing to Mr President to call on his colleagues in politics irrespective of a political parties to work together and make 2019 election to be free and fair and a model for all other African countries.

Meanwhile, Mrs Leah Solomon, Woman Leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States, Thursday knelt and cried before President Muhammadu Buhari over the massacre of Christians especially women and children by herdsmen.
She was part of the CAN delegation that met with then president to seek his intervention in the deadly attacks attributable to Fulani herdsmen.

But after a photo session at the end of the meeting, the woman seized the opportunity of individual handshake with the president to draw his attention to herself, held his hand, knelt and requested for an audience for northern Christian women with the president on the issue of killings.

President Buhari immediately directed the State Chief of Protocol (SCOP), Lawal Kazaure, to take up the matter.
Speaking with State House correspondents, Mrs. Solomon explained her action, saying: “I was in deep pains when I see the killings of the innocent ones and also the mothers. I was in pains and I was asking if His Excellency will grant us an audience as the Christian women in the Northern states so that we can come and cry and pray also that the innocent children will be able to be saved in the nation in fourth generation.
“It is a painful thing because the mother with the child no one can divide them. The child feeds from the umbilical cord and no one can disengage the love between a child and the mother, That was the pains I had in me and I was crying if he can listen and give us the audience as Christian.”

The meeting was called to review arrangements so far made in preparation for the upcoming Muslim pilgrimage.
He said the Saudi authorities have agreed to carry out a mobile biometric data-capturing exercise.
The firm appointed to conduct the registration will travel from one location to the other registering intending pilgrims instead of the previous arrangement of moving the pilgrims to designated data-capturing centres, he said.
He therefore directed states welfare boards and agencies that have fully uploaded their pilgrims’ particulars on the Hajj e-portal to mobilize their pilgrims for the assignment.
He also instructed the state welfare boards to indicate their readiness and ensure that they provide the biometric data capturing officials with functional offices completely air-conditioned, with constant electricity supply and internet facility.
NAHCON’s chief stressed that vaccines for the necessary inoculation of pilgrims are already made available for take-off of the immunization activity, warning state officials from running clinics in their pilgrim’s accommodation facilities while in the holy land, as this is against Saudi regulations.
He said the national medical team, comprising 60% of state nominated medical staff and NAHCON’s 40%, remains solely responsible for establishing medical centres in Saudi Arabia.
These national clinics remain the only recognized medical facilities apart from the Saudi- based ones, he said.
Barrister Mukhtar again urged state representatives to sensitize their pilgrims on the need to remain in their homes until their flights are called instead of putting themselves under pressure waiting at the Hajj camps.
One of the matters arising is the issue of double decker beds to be made available in Muna, at an additional cost of 150 Saudi Riyals.
He informed that this was a later development communicated to NAHCON from the Mu’as’sasa establishment. Thus, any state willing to hire the beds for their pilgrims should indicate their interest for further action.
On the part of tour operators, the Chairman charged them to remain focused on the Hajj template and not to compromise standards or short-change pilgrims of the services they have paid for.

PoliticsBuhari Will Lose In 2019, Aso Rock May Become Hell In 72 Hours – Archbishop Chuk by Bilaludeen(op): 8:06pm On Jul 06, 2018
Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Provence, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma has declared that God will not give victory to President Mohammed Buhari in 2019.
The cleric also asked Buhari to ensure that Leah Sharibu was released immediately, warning that Aso Rock would be a living hell for him and his family if the schoolgirl remained in Boko Haram captivity.
Archbishop Chukwuma spoke Friday while delivering his national address at the first session of the seventeenth synod of the Diocese of Enugu.
He condemned the federal government for pretending to fight corruption and insincerity in the handling of the murderous fulani herdsmen that have killed and destroyed many communities.
Chukwuma said that Buhari’s body language and actions recently showed that he wants to recontest for the presidential seat but “I can tell you that God will not allow him.”
The cleric who said that the Service Chiefs in the country were over due for change accused the President of retaining them because of his 2019 agenda.
His words: “We know that why he has refused to relieve the service chiefs of their positions is because he has a hidden agenda”.
On the Leah Sharibu, the Archbishop said it was unjust and smacks of politics for the federal government to have kept quiet over the matter because she is a Christian.
He said, “I am given Buhari ultimatum for 72hours in this synod if the Dapchi girl is not released the Ask Rock will be in trouble let them go and note it.
“We are told that she was held back because she refused to renounced her Christian Faith, may the Lord deliver from their captive in Jesus Name if not let the Aso Rock be on fire.

R-APC: Gov. Yari gives reason sprinter group emerged from APCPublished on July 5, 2018 By John Owen Nwachukwu

The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has admitted that the emergence of a splinter group, Reformed All Progressive Congress, R-APC, from the ruling party is a source of concern for its governors.

The governor, however, said that such party crisis was not unexpected in a party of the size of APC as politicians must jostle to advance their own interests.

Yari, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, spoke to State House correspondents after joining his Jigawa and Kebbi counterparts, Abubakar Badaru and Atiku Bagudu, respectively, as well as Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun for a meeting with Chief of Staff to the President on the deadlock in the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC.

He, however, expressed confidence that the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC will be able to resolve the crisis.

He said, “Of course, I am worried, but it is something the party will handle. You know with the approach of election, you will expect this kind of thing, you will expect crisis left, right and centre, especially in a party with an overwhelming majority because of political interests.

“The most important thing is that with the emergence of new leadership everything will be resolved. So, therefore, no panic.”

Yari revealed that there was some progress on the FAAC which was deadlocked in its last meeting.

He added, “Initially it (the meeting) was supposed to be a private visit but it has turned to official visit because you know we were supposed to hold the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee meeting since last week which deadlocked.

“So, the Chief of Staff decided to invite the minister so that we can discuss further and see how best we are going to deal with the matter.

“There is headway because Mr. President and the Minister of Finance will meet with the NNPC officials so that we can resolve the problem with the Federal Allocation Accounts Committee.”

Nollywood actress caught stealing charged with N7m theftPublished on July 5, 2018 By Fikayo Olowolagba

Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa allegedly caught stealing was on Thursday docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for breaking in and stealing valuables worth N7 million.

The actress, 32, who lives at No.7, Oladelola St., Ketu area of Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

Police Prosecutor Benson Emuerhi told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 27 at No. 14/16, Mutairu St., Shangisha, Ketu, a suburb of Lagos, at 2.10 p.m.

According to him, the accused was apprehended while trying to enter the apartment of the complainant, Mr Adeboye Lamidi.

“Akilapa used a different key to unlock the door of the complainant house but was caught in the act,” he said.

The prosecutor also alleged that the accused on Nov. 16, 2015 at 3.00 p.m. also broke into the residence of Oyinlola Tuga by unlocking the door with a master key.

“Tuga alleged that after raising alarm that his house had been burgled, his neighbours told him that they saw the accused parked her car with registration no. MUS 689 CZ in front of the complainant’s house.

“They challenged her and found the stolen items and a hundred bunch of keys on her.

“The accused was apprehended and handed over to the police at Ifako Police Station,” he said.

The actress was sometime in 2013 sent to the Kirikiri Prison and after a few months regained her freedom in November 2013.

In Jan. 12, 2014, she was again caught trying to steal with a bunch of master keys hidden in her brassiere at a house in Magodo Phase 2.

The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised) and Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing, while Section 307 prescribes seven years for burglary.

The Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.

Sule-Amzat said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until

Shehu Sani claims Governors have taken over APC, Buhari helplessPublished on July 5, 2018 By Ifreke Inyang

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has claimed that Governors have taken over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and that President Muhammadu Buhari is helpless about it.

The lawmaker stated this on Thursday while appearing on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.

Sani explained that the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) was formed because the party did not treat the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) members fairly.

“We cannot continue to be in that party that has failed to treat us fairly and objectively.

“Adams Oshiomole is a good doctor brought to treat a cancerous case that has reached its fourth grade.

“It appears that the governors have taken grip of the party and the president seem helpless.

“I come from a state where the governor has no respect for the party hierarchy and no respect for the president,” he said

PoliticsR-APC Not Our Members, No Faction In Our Party – APC by Bilaludeen(op): 6:49pm On Jul 05, 2018
The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday insisted that there is no faction in the party.

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman of the party, said the breakaway Reformed APC, R-APC, were never members of the ruling party.

Recall that the New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, faction of APC had announced their breakaway on Wednesday in Abuja under a fresh alias, reformed APC, and appointed Alhaji Buba Galadima as its interim National Chairman.

In a swift reaction, Abdullahi had acknowledged the breakaway group.

However, the APC spokesperson on Thursday, in a statement issued in Abuja said the membership status of the R-APC leaders was being investigated.

Abdullahi said having failed to scuttle the national convention of the ruling party, they decided to be mischievous.

The statement reads, “On Wednesday July 4, 2018, a group of individuals announced itself as ‘Reformed All Progressives Congress (APC)’ at a press conference held in Abuja. By their actions, this group has attempted to create the impression that our Party is factionalised. This is not true.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to affirm that there is no faction in our Party and declares the action by these individuals as mischievous and ill-advised.

“Having failed to scuttle the National Convention as was their original plan, they now resort to this subterfuge as a way of achieving the pre-determined end of causing confusion.

“As a matter of fact, we doubt that these individuals parading as leaders of the so called faction are actual members of our party. We are currently investigating their true membership status within the party.

“While we shall continue to monitor developments in this respect; we will not hesitate to take lawful actions to defend the unity of our Party and protect the sanctity of its identity. We are currently reviewing the action of this so-called faction in order to determine if any aspect of the Party’s constitution has been breached with the connivance of any of our members.

PoliticsPlateau Killings: I Have Evidence Of Those Behind Attacks – Reps Member by Bilaludeen(op): 6:24pm On Jul 05, 2018
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ahmed Maje, has insisted that politicians were behind the killings in Plateau State.
Speaking during plenary, Maje claimed he had evidence to prove that politicians were behind the many killings in the state.
The lawmaker, who represents Wase constituency in Plateau state, noted that he was aware that he was putting his life in danger by making the disclosure.
According to Maje, “I want to say this that the security men are not doing their work, they are the remote causes of this matter, whether we like it or not. I want to tell this House and Nigerians that about 300 people were trained in Israel, it’s there in our report, we gave it to the government to work on and find out those sponsoring them.
“Till today, nobody has been traced and these people are the ones who go about killing people. I’m giving you this and I’m willing to surrender this documents.
“A company in Plateau State did importation and about four containers were missing and when we traced as a committee what was in those containers, we were told that the containers were taken to the house of a politician. When we traced the name of the company it was a security company in Israel. They bought arms.
“We do not want to say the truth and this will continue to hunt and bedevil us. The truth of the matter is that there are some politicians behind this killings. I’m from Plateau State and I’m saying those behind this are politicians and I know I’m putting my life on the line by saying this, but I prefer to die and save others. I’m willing to surrender some of these documents.”

PoliticsDSS Said I’m Backing Biafra, IPOB – Abaribe Narrates Ordeal To Senate by Bilaludeen(op): 10:41pm On Jul 04, 2018
Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe on Wednesday narrated his experiences in the hands of the Department of State Services (DSS) to the Senate.

He said that he had been inundated with letters and calls from Nigerians, especially his colleagues who were worried about the reports on his arrest by the DSS.

“I crave your indulgence and that of my colleagues; first is that on Friday, June 22, I was arrested at the gate of Hilton Hotel while the International Press Institute congress was going on.

“I was taken to the office of the DSS by 11.30 in the morning and subsequently by 5 p.m., I was taken to my house for a search of my residence.

“When we got to my house was the point at which I was now formally informed of why I was arrested.

“The search warrant that was used stated clearly that I’m being accused with aiding and sponsoring a proscribed organisation, IPOB.

“So, the search of my house was to look for evidence of such.

“After the search which took another five to six hours, I was taken to the office of the DSS about 12 midnight and kept there,” he said.

The lawmaker said that his release from detention was through the intervention of all well-meaning Nigerians led by the president of the senate, and the leadership of the senate.

“So, I am very glad and grateful and want to use this opportunity to thank all Nigerians who were concerned and who did everything to secure my release.

“Nothing has been found in connection with the allegations that were made. Up till this moment, I am still on bail, administrative bail, by the DSS.

“Every morning, I have to report to the DSS; but, of course these things are going to be challenged in the court of law.”

Abaribe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, said that he would continue to tell the truth.

“I will continue to stand by this country and I will continue to say no person is bigger than this country,” he said.

President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, told Abaribe, who represents Abia South Senatorial District, to accept the episode in good faith.

Saraki said, “Distinguished Sen. Abaribe, we are all happy to see that you are back.

“It was an unfortunate situation that we hope that things will definitely restore back to normal in all these issues that concerns you.

“It is one of these sacrifices that, unfortunately, we all have to make in deepening our democ

FamilyI Caught My Husband Sucking My Niece’s Breast, Sleeping With Our Maid -wife by Bilaludeen(op): 10:18pm On Jul 04, 2018
An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the 10-year marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and her husband, Stanley Anyasi over infidelity.

The 36-year-old trader told the court that apart from numerous cases of his following women around, her husband used to sneak into their maid’s room to sleep with her.

“My husband is a womaniser, he used to leave me in the bed at night and sneak into my maid’s room. I have caught him severally on my maid’s bed sexually assaulting her.

“A neighbour approached me and told me to warn my husband to desist from asking her daughter to have love affairs with him.

“I once caught him sucking the breasts of my niece, who is a minor and he is also fond of wooing my friends,” she said,

The petitioner told the court that her husband had once tried to poison her when he brought food to her which subsequently caused her serious pain and vomiting.

“I was rushed to the hospital by neighbours, when I was diagnosed, it was detected that the food I just ate had been poisoned,” she said.

The mother of three said that her husband equally turned her into a punching bag, beating her at the slightest provocation, and has been calling her thief and prostitute in public.

The estranged woman stressed that her husband was irresponsible and unable to provide food or pay for the education of their children.

She urged the court to dissolve her marriage with Stanley.

The respondent, however, denied all the allegations and in turn accused his wife of adultery, claiming that her lover even bought a car for her.

“In January 2017 she came home with a car of N1 million, when I queried her where she got the car from, she claimed she bought it with her money.

“I strongly disagreed with her because she is only selling foodstuffs and can never afford that kind of a car,” he said.

The 40-year-old businessman said that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home in 2017 without his knowledge.

“I came home from work and discovered that my wife had packed all her belonging out with the children to start living with her lover.

“I called her severally, she refused to pick but she eventually picked my call last January and informed me that our last baby she delivered in May 2017 was not mine that the child belonged to the man she is presently living with.

“Before she even gave birth and packed out of my house, I always received information from people that they saw my wife in hotel with men but I always ignored them.”

NAN reports that on the allegation of turning her to a punching bag, Stanley said that he only beat her once when she stabbed him with bottle on his head.

The respondent urged the court to grant his wife’s wish for the dissolution of marriage saying that he too was no longer interested.

Delivering the judgement, the court president, Mr Akin Akinniyi, said that all efforts to reconcile the couple had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and Mr Stanley Anyasi dissolved today.

“Both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife, each of you should go on his or her separate ways unmolested.

“The court wishes both of you well in your new journey of life.

“The court grants the custody of the children, age 10, 8, 6 respectively to their mother, the petitioner, pending when they attain the age of 18 years to decide who to stay with.

“The respondent must be responsible for the children’s school fees, medical bills and must be paying N15,000 monthly for the children’s feeding which must be channeled through the court,” Akinniyi ruled
