Firstly, shariah doesn't recognize democracy itself. Only a legal system that recognizes democracy is most appropriate to hear matters relating to it.

Secondly, it shows the motives around the kind of "shariah" being practised in some sections of the world and how it has been weaponised. There is no selective justice under the shariah law. A case where punishment is for the poor and not the elite has no place is shariah law. The elites know this and hide behind common law that's easier to be bent. I read a news of some shariah court workers who misappropriated funds of some orphans. They requested to be tried under the common law system because they know what awaits them if they met an upright shariah law judge.

In Kano, I know a rich man whose first 2 wives are safe because they are his cousins and the extended family wouldn't take it. The other wives 3 &4, soon as they get pregnant, they seem to irritate him because he divorces them. He's done this over 20 times. Divorce isn't stigmatized and women use their fathers names so it's easy to hide if you don't do your homework.

He was only guiding you in the right way. When you are having a challenge with paying fees, applying for scholarships and bursary is the right thing. Not running after individuals to request for funds.

If it were some other expenses, the Oyedepo could have helped you. Help comes only from God and not man. Just because your help didn't come from Oyedepo doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

Ogbeni,do you know how many years it took Lagos state bursary to view your application, accept & called you for interview,before approval & disbursement?the boy need money urgently...if I had waited for state government bursary my school would have thrown me out for not paying school prompt fees.
