Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by bjtinz: 5:37am On Aug 18, 2025
hallysonia:
This question came right in time.

Currently, all my portfolios except Jaiz are red. Even the Jaiz self has reduced in return.

I have the following (with current return at -2.0% of the total money invested):

ABCTRANS bought at 5.42 - bought because I read a positive new about the company.

ARADEL bought at 528.53 - bought because the value is close to all-time low and based on technical/fundamental analysis

DS bought at 63.62 - bought because it is increasing, but didn't sell because it still has a strong fundamental

JAIZ bank bought at 4.53 - bought because I believe the bank will do well in the future

BUA Cement bought at 178.25 - ought because it is increasing. I didnt realize it was close to all time high

TRANSCORP bought at 52.70 - bought because it has a strong fundamental.

My plan is starting with 1.2million, but I have realized that these would turn into dust if care is not taken. How I wish I had read some previous conversion before making my investment decision.

Pa Emma, I was touched by your statement about "smart people learn from expert experience and those who want to learn from personal experience will suffer the most." Not that I'm learning based on my personal experience, but I can't factor out the fact that a 3 weeks old potential investor like me should be very patient. That I have money does not mean I have to make a wary investment decision.

megawealth2, come to my aid, edakun. You once said something about POVERTY and PROUDNESS. I am not proud o.

Streetinvestor2, nosa2, EDUCO, and others. E help wa.

PS:
1. I am potential investor, not really a trader. Currently running my PhD (Maths and Stat) in graduate school, so I don't have time for daily trading.
2. I am not interested in an interest based banks, breweries industries, gambling/lotto industry as well.

Apology for my brevity in typing..
Ali
Wow.
I got sucked into the aradel frenzy as well.

When the Nigerian military is dealing with IPOB terrorists in the south east, I hope we will all support the Nigerian military.
Such astonishing hypocrisy. They screamed to the high heavens when the Nigerian army did similar.

Yet they see nothing wrong with these atrocities being committed by Israel. Sigh

Israel is Jewish State. There's absolutely NOTHING Christian about them. Be educated.
They (Juden)routinely beat up, spit on, molest and even murder Christians living in Israel
So why are Christians heavily supporting the atrocities they commit?

Yes of course you're right

Injustice to Israel on October 7th was a threat to justice everywhere, and Palestinians are rightly facing the repercussions.

Of course that's patently wrong, as even a secondary school student will tell you.

The sad thing is most of his maga nutcases actually believe China will be paying the 100%+ tariffs. embarassed

True market economics at work.

This is the way a real economy is supposed to work. No fixing of prices, allow market forces to compete for the customers.

They want to govt to fix prices so that they can make as much money as possible.
No, the government should stay out of this business and allow true competition. If you can't compete, get out of the business.
Too much volatility is also not good. No business can survive in such situations

Politics › Re: Breakdown Of US Funds Disbursed To Nigeria In 10 Years by bjtinz: 2:30pm On Jan 30, 2025
US does not give directly to government, at whatever level, mainly because of the very high levels of transparency and accountability required.

Independent NGO bid for be grants and if successfully would implement based on very strict guidelines. Any deviation from grant rules are met with consequences. Either repayment or total blacklisting of the NGO

Something some you guys don't appreciate.

We are in global village now. The stupidest move was to suspend global aid, especially for health.

He really thinks USA can be a global power when the world burns? I laff in Greek.

Okay na... Kinda true but I know a couple of these hasty decisions will not last, both the one HIV and immigration. USA is a nation built on immigration and it is entrenched in their constitution and way if life. It has made US what she is today, so ain't no way that gonna last for long
A waiver has already been provided for HIV and other health programs.

Forget all these gragra.

Section 77 of the bill is the main issue. Consumers in Nigeria are not only Yoruba or Lagosians; they are all over the nation. When I drink Pepsi here in Abuja, I have to pay VAT to Lagos – why? If that is the case, then for any food item brought from the North, the VAT on it should be paid to the North
I'm not sure the senator himself understands the bill. It's precisely the bolded part the bill aims to correct

Business › Re: Can 500k Start This Business? by bjtinz: 7:40am On Dec 15, 2024
From my interactions with such owners, the profit margin is not too great, the of course you have to consider competition.

Unless it's just a side hustle for cash flow, but the again you need to carefully select your inventory so you don't tie money down.

In all, I won't say it's bad, but do your due diligence first. Survey the market, consider your supplier, assess relative cost of utilities in the areas, etc.
