Good Morning House.

A newbie is asking, assuming the cost is not a challenge which of the Xiaomi phone will you go for (or is the best)?

What is the best budget (Cost effective in relations to all round performance) Xiaomi Phone?

Also, please name three top dealers in this forum which delivers problem free and at a good rate for Xiaomi Phone purchases.

Appreciate all responses

Thanks to all the SMEs for all your inputs, this has reinforced my understanding, I will set it up as an array 2*3 configuration as 84V VOC, the wire run between the combiner box and the PV array is just about 5-6 meters, I sized my cable to be 6mm2 and the combiner to the Solar charger is just about 6 meters, the cable was sized to be 16mm2, this should all be adequate.

@Kiekie

Thanks for your input, How much is your Surge Arrestor both DC and the AC, all other items already in stock

DMerciful:
My rèco is to go for 2*3 configuration so that combined Voc is 84V. Use 16mm cable or more for ur installation. Doing 3*2 will give u Voc of 126V and for a 24v system, the pull down voltage will be too much so as kiekie1 said, this is best for 48v system. Cheers

Hello SMEs

Happy Sunday to everyone.

I am planning on installing 6 numbers of 310W solar panels with 60A, 150V Schneider XW 60 MPPT CC, this is a phased Installation, the short circuit current of the PV is about 9A, while the max operating current is about 8.2A, the VOC is 42V and the max operating voltage is about 36V. The battery bank and Inverter operating voltage is 24V (already existing)

I just want opinion from the SME on the best combination for better efficiency, from the look of things this could be 2 arrays (2 X 3PVs In series) or 3 arrays of (3 X 2PVs in series).

Which do you think will be of better efficiency, appreciate all comments

Send an email to ksolaiya@atlanticwastepower.com tell him Dr Solar sent you. What load are you running on the inverter.
@ chris81964
Dr Sola, I appreciate your reply to my inquiries, I have been able to figure it out, I have posted the solution also on this forum, however I will keep the contact fmight be useful in the future.

Thanks.

I have been able to resolve this, for the record purpose while using the Schneider Conext SW4024 Inverter built-in charger only to charge the battery without solar installation with external charge controller, in the setup parameters while commissioning the unit you must adequately define the battery parameters and more importantly you must ensure that the right charging rate for battery is calculated and represented by the right percentage setting under the Charge rate parameters, otherwise you will be having F49 fault (DC Over Voltage), which might take you a while to figure it out.

Hello house,
Anyone with experience on Schneider product should help out on this;

Schneider Conext SW4024 Inverter tripping on F49 fault (DC Over Voltage), the battery bank is a set of eight nos of 200AH wired for 24VDC, I have monitored the charging voltage while the inverter is charging not to exceed 26.1VDC and the battery bank voltage sitting pretty at about 24.8VDC, however once the utility power is applied to the inverter after charging for about 2-3 mins will trip on F49 fault.

Has anyone experienced this before? Appreciate all comments

Barezzi,
Thanks for your reply, I am just double checking if any has any bad experience using such.
I can only think of the angle iron rusting if not well treated, so care is exercised in treating the iron and painting the angle iron, that's my best option since I want the under to be a car port, thanks for double checking.

On Schneider product, I will say they are robust but the challenge I have with them is that everything comes independent, say for the inverter you must have the system control panel SCP (a separate unit, bought differently) to do even just the programming of the inverter thereby increasing the cost of the entire complete installation, apart from that I cant think of any other thing.... perhaps any other installer may have a say on this.

Barezzi:
Dunno if you got any answers to this, but none to the best of my professional knowledge.
I'm presently constructing one to carry my 24 panels. When i'm done with the upgrades, i'll post pics.

What's your experience so far with the Schneider inverter/accessories?

Hello House,
Thanks for your support and answers to my previous questions.
Please is there any issues in using angle iron to construct solar panel support instead of the standard supports, this is a ground mounted system, the angle iron will form slots that holds each of the solar panels, is there any issues in doing this?
Thanks in advance.

@Dmerciful,

Thanks so much for your time and explanation, may be what I will do is that I will combine the two circuit and use only one inverter, the two banks are just redundant, they do same job. Just wanted to ensure there is always power available.

How much is your surge protectors? Please, you missed the second part of my question:
"for the combiner box must it be OEM type or can one get one locally or fabricate or is there a make shift type that could be used as I do not see so much specialty in combiner box as it looks like a small DB could be used for combining"

Team, I need your assistance

bodeface:
Team DIY,

I am monitoring and inspecting my proposed site for the solar panel installation and these questions arise, I need the expert advice;

1. I observed that the area where I am proposing to install has the shadow of electric wire line (small line shadow) and small portion of the electric pole shadow that pass through the place around 2:45pm (Note I have limited space to install)

2. Whats the maximum distance between the Solar panels and the Charge controller, also between the charge controller and the battery or as long the cable are properly sized it doesn't matter?

3. Is it compulsory to install the surge controller with every installation, if so what type is cheaper and effective, where could i source this, for the combiner box must it be OEM type or can one get one locally or fabricate or is there a make shift type that could be used as I do not see so much specialty in combiner box as it looks like a small DB could be used for combining.

4. If I have two banks of battery 48VDC, 4 X 200Ah with two independent 3.5KVA inverters to each bank and I want a single PV system to charge the two banks, is it possible and if possible how will the battery configuration / connection be, also from calculation and experience what wattage of PV panels will be able to effectively charge the two bank together.

Thanks team for all help.

Check out this comparison.
@Babaegun, Thanks for the comparison sheet, at face value looks like the midnite classic stands out, which agrees with what SAIPRO says, I will prefer the unit with the best tracking for the maximum power point.

Thanks for the enlightenment @Babaegun @Saipro
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bodeface: 8:34am On May 11, 2017
Saipro:
No such thing as a best, as your requirements and application would determine utility.

For the commercial versions:

- Xantrex followed up from Trace and is pretty good. Perhaps the cheapest of the lot.
- MorningStar MPPT is touted as having the best DC-DC converters (their SureSine inverter is literally unbeatable in efficiency, sorry for digressing)
- Magnum is touted as having the highest amps output. New firmware upgrades keep improving performance. Lots of input from Outback and Midnite (as developers).
- Outback is largely the brainchild of the guys who developed Xantrex. Lots of improvements and tons of new features.
- Midnite. The self-acclaimed industry standard. Has a few features not seen in others. Guys who developed the Outback went on to start Midnite. Pretty pricy too.
- Then there's SMA, odd one out of the top players but pretty nifty too. Prefers to work alone. Or be boss when working with others.

That's the evolution. Also, pricing tends to follow the ordering in the list. Where MorningStar excels at DC-DC conversion, Outback and Midnite excel at tracking the maximum power point. You decide which is more important to you (I prefer tracking here because of the rapidly changing insolation levels from cloud cover interference).

PS: You are most unlikely to fully utilise the potential of either Outback (FM series) or Midnite (Classic series) charge controllers. What are you really looking for (asides reputation and stability)?
@SAIPRO, you are very detail and so knowledgeable in this trade, do you have a coy, do you manage design and installation of the Solar systems, kindly let me know we might be able to do somethings together
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bodeface: 12:28am On May 11, 2017
Team,

Please, without considering the cost, which MPPT Charge controller is the best in the market among; Midnite classic solar 150 / 200, Outback FM60 /80, Tristar MPPT 60A, Schneider Xantrex 150V / 600V, Magnum, e.t.c in terms of best solar harvest, durability, flexibility, extend-ability remote accessibility and e.t.c

Which maker or model is the best.

Thanks
