It's good you're still trying to turn the offer down which means you still have a chance to accept it back.

Better accept it cos entrepreneurship is not a child's play.

Work accumulate enough funds to see you through at initial stage of start-up.
the nature of the job is what is discouraging me.. it's a factory work (a Chinese company) .. and we work 9 hours per day, u days a week and no shift

Please let's share our experience and struggle together. I noticed not much is being said these times.

I'm a young kdp starter. Just 9 months ago. March has been modest for me . just 480$ . not bad though.

My challenge so far?

Due to covid 19,
Kdp publishing has been slow for me.
NEPA has been off for days.

So many challenges.
But I must smile before covid 19 is over.

So share yours and ask questions.
good evening bros PLS help me I really want to go into this business... life after service is not funny at all

Before before dem dey force people into slavery.

These days na people dey beg and sign to be enslaved because of hunger.

Shame on Nigerian leaders.

Just imagine the kind working conditions a foreign entity is meeting out to citizens of a sovereign host nation.

Abeg pardon my mistake up there.

I completely forget say na China get us now oh. Duly and fully paid for.

Generally, Asians esp East Asians have a culture of long work hours, so I am not surprised by these conditions esp in a lawless place. My issues are the "not cooking foods rather buying from the yard" and "not going out". The Chinese are modelling their factories here like they do at home, however, cultures are different. Unfortunately, because of the lawless nature of Nigeria, nothing can be done about it. Apparently, nothing.

My verdict: decline the offer (unless you want to behave like a monk and plan staying in a low budget NYSC camp styled environment). Look for something else, the way you got this, you can get another with better working conditions.

Best wishes!
OK.. the something else am looking at doing is pos business. getting the funds self is another issue

Read the conditions in your post again. Does it sound or appear normal to you?

Agreed Nigeria is tough, but for less than $125 a month, that is slavery.

I don't have strength to say much, but a word is enough for the wise.
OK sir they said they will increase the pay after 3 months but we don't know how much

hello nairalanders. I am finding it hard to make a decision, I recently got a job offer in a Chinese manufacturing (factory) company in Nigeria. the pay is 50k per month but subject to increase after the first 3 months probation period , but the issue is the work is 9 hours per day. we must stay inside the company yard as there is acccomodation ( hostel bonk, 16 people per hall/room) they don't feed us and we can't cook but we can buy food from the company yard.. we cant go out of the company yard we work every day even on Sunday's and public holidays too, and there's no shift. the job description is machine operation.. the company is a into manufacturing of aluminium.. I am a fresh graduate whom just finished serving 3 months ago studied mechanical engineering.. is it a good offer knowing fully well that I live and work in the yard and I can't have a social life. this is my first job offer since I finished service... and I am also considering the experience I will acquire but is it worth it..
