You want to dash them information that will implicate you. Don’t disclose anything about the refusal simple. Because they won’t know if you don’t tell them

Debbieeeeeee:
Refused entry (meaning you were turned back at the border before actually entering a country) is not the same as being “removed” or “deported” (which happen after you have already been admitted and are then forced to leave).

On the DS-160, the question specifically asks if you have ever been “removed” or “deported.” If you were refused entry at the border but never admitted to the country, you generally do not check “Yes” for removal or deportation, because you were never admitted in the first place.

However, it is a good idea to still mention the refused entry, to be transparent. You can do this in the “Explain” sections of the DS-160 where it allows you to provide additional information (for example, “Have you ever been refused a visa…” or “Other Information” text box if available). There you can write something simple like:

“In [year], I was refused entry to [country] at the port of entry due to [brief reason, e.g., missing documents]. I was not removed or deported.”

This way you are being honest and clear.
There are no sections in the form that allows for such explanation. I have looked through the form. Can you share a screenshot of such section. The portions for explanations are provided under the refused US visa or have you been removed or deported.

Except if you're implying that the information for refused entry is provided alongside an additional information. Like if the answer to Have you been denied a US visa is yes, while explaining the US visa denial, the applicant can add the port of entry refusal. If this is case my question will be, what if the applicant has not been denied a US visa before.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by BruceXavier: 8:03am On Jun 27, 2025
There's a dilema guys.

The DS 160 form has a portion where it asks if you have ever been removed or deported from any other country. To be removed or deported from any country has a process, which typically comes at a cost to immigration and it means the person was already in the country, flouted an immigration rule and is consequently removed/deported. However there's a situation where a person was refused entry at the border due to documentation. While refused entry isn't the same as being removed or deported the DS 160 form does not provide a question where applicants can state refused entry. How does an applicant then disclose a case of refusal to enter in the DS 160?

Visa Issued.

June 9: Erroneous Decision

June 9: Numerous mails sent to UKVI & Home Ofiice

June 9: Submitted a PAP, my complaint to multiple channels including physical letters to Home office.

June 9: Got E-mail reponse from UKVI that my decision have no right to appeal or administrative review.

June 11: Got Mail from VFS to come collect my passport

June 13: Collected my passport from VFS

June 16: Got another mail from Home Office, that “my complaint has been considered and as detailed in my decision letter i have no right to appeal or administrative review” and other generic bla bla bla and i should apply again.

June 16: i replied again that their error must be acknowledged and i have no intention in submitting to a defective process., i also added that they need not review or overturn the visa decision but error must be acknowledged.

June 17: Phone call and follow up Mail from British High Commission, Abuja requesting for my passport.

June 18: I submitted around 12PM.

June 19: I was called around 11AM and i picked up my passport shortly after with the visa stamp in it.

Thanks everyone for your inputs, @cashmadam, @giselle237 @Militio @davodyguy @America001, i really appreciate.

@tyrant25 they responded first on 11th, then 16th, however there were lots of back and forth.
Congratulations, this is a huge win. The implication of this win is far reaching than you think. Future events will reveal what I mean

Did you submit the PAP yourself or did you hire legal representation?

This whole process reeks of despiration. If you did your research well enough to know unexplanied deposits need to be explained, you should have also known that the best option based on his messy finances is to keep a clean account especially for a first timer with no strong travel history. The possible reason you did not excersie patience to build your account for at least 6months shows despiration. The finances was just too messy. An invitation was offered to him but he wasnt ripe to take advantage of the oppournity based on the nature of his finances, now he has to scale more hurdles on his next application. Even if he has a sponsor and you submit the spoonsor's bank statement, he still has to submit his own bank statement as well

deevah:
Good day all. Apologies if this has been asked already, the thread is so long.

I know someone who recently got a UK visit visa denial. I helped in his process because I myself had gotten the visa before. This is his first UK visa but he has travelled to 2 African countries in the past.

He was denied on some grounds that I will mention later, but first a background.

He was selected to go for a training in June. Flights and accommodation are fully covered by the organising body. (He attached the selection letter that detailed this point). The only costs he anticipated was feeding/miscellaneous which he earmarked 400 gbp for. For this, he attached his personal statement.

Now, he is employed and earns about 400k from his 9 - 5, but he has other income from side hustles/freelance which he stated as he needed to explain deposits of large sums of money (usually larger than his monthly income by 2x or 3x sometimes, but it is sporadic) apart from the monthly salary into his account. He wrote an explanation of finances letter, detailing every transaction above 100k in his account statement. His wife also sent him the sum of 500k as travel support. This was clearly indicated in the transfer as travel support. I also asked her to write a letter where she mentioned she is his spouse and had also sent him 500k for the trip. He also explained all these in his personal statement.

He added his employment letter, payslips, letter of acknowledgement from his employer (where they mentioned they were aware of his trip and his return date), letter from his bank. His wife didn't attach her statement because she sent him the money already and sent a letter to that effect.

He was denied on the following grounds:

"You have indicated that your sponsor (your spouse) will pay 500000.00 NGN (£232.68) towards the cost of your trip. Whilst you have submitted various documents in regards to your own financial circumstances, the documents you have provided do not demonstrate your sponsor’s personal or financial circumstances. I am therefore not satisfied that your sponsor can and will provide you with support for the intended duration of your stay.
Furthermore, you have also declared on your VAF that you are in receipt of  xNGN a year (£x) in additional income (I redacted the amount) . However, there are no references to the additional income in the transaction history of your bank account or information provided by you that demonstrates how the additional income is derived and therefore without further information I have been unable to determine if you are in receipt of this additional income. Therefore, I’m not satisfied that your financial circumstances are as you have declared on your VAF.
I have made careful consideration of your family ties to both the UK and your home country. In making my consideration, I note the statements made by you in your visa application form regarding the presence of your spouse. However, I note that the information provided with your application does not support your statements, the presence of your dependants in your home country or elsewhere, nor their dependency upon you. This, in conjunction with the concerns relating to your economic ties stated above, gives me reason to further doubt that you will depart the UK at the end of the period stay"

Mistakes I think we made:
When asked who was paying towards his trip in the form, he wrote his wife, that's why I believe she was looked at as sponsor. They expected her bank statement too.

I don't understand the additional income statement as he clearly stated where the extra monies came from in his explanation of finances.

I also don't understand the family ties part because he attached his marriage certificate and mentioned he has his extended family in Nigeria as reasons why he will return.

Next steps:
He needs to reapply as the training is in June and he has to attend.
This time around I'm thinking of advising him to use his employer as a sponsor (employer is willing according to him) for any miscellaneous costs and not include anything about his personal finances like bank statement. The flights and accommodation are already covered by the body organising the training.

Should he state he has Dependents this time around? He did the last time and see what the ECO said above.

Please, I need advice from the house as he's disappointed.
I submitted similar documents to his in the past and got my visa, that's why I am surprised at this denial.

I'll be following to answer questions as well.

Thank you.

Good day guys ! Please ooo , I'm helping someone apply for France visit visa and the initial travel date is 24th of April .. But today, she received an email to send a valid hotel reservation....

The initial hotel reservation I used for the application has been canceled.

My question is , do I changed the hotel date/travel date or go ahead and book for the 24th again ?

A quick response would be greatly appreciated.
Simply book another hotel that allows free cancellation. Once the visa is approved you cancel the reservation and you'll get a full refund on the card used to make the booking. This way the booking is valid and can be confirmed at any point in time, such that if a call is put throught to the Hotel or Airbnb, they can confirm your name and booking details

Hello everyone. I have a question about my upcoming visa interview in about 3months time. I filled my DS160 form around March last year and my intended travel date was August 2024 for tourism and sightseeing, however when I made payment for the visa fee and tried to book an appointment date, the earliest I could get was June 2025. My question is do I have to fill a new DS160 form since the intended travel date has passed. If yes, how do I upload it such that the DS160 application number tallies with what is on my appointment confirmation letter?

NB; I have been successfully migrated to the AVITS platform
Please I need guidance on what to do. Can anyone with credible info assist?

They don’t like people wasting their slot cause it could have been given to people who really needed it. Trust me forget about trying France again but I doubt if it will change anything from other Schengen cause they use the same data system they can still see your previous history as long it’s same Schengen country
I disagree with this position. The greatest fear of a consular officer when issuing a visit visa is that the applicant may not return. An applicant who was issued a visa and ended up not using it in my opinion poses no risk of fleeing, it even suggest that such a person isnt desprate and communicates their genuine intention further. Plans change, life is in a constant state of flux. Perharps in your new application you could state why you were unable to use the previous visas issued. This idea of wasting slot also sounds ridiculous too. The visa was paid for, if the applicant chooses not to use it due to whatever reason, it is not the problem of the embassy, perharps I could be wrong, as this is my opinion. I'll like the gurus here to chyme in on this unused visa theory
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by BruceXavier:
I currently have a 2-year UK visa which is due to expire soon. I have used it 2ce and plan to use it again before it expires

I will be applying for a 10year UK visa immediately i return. I've taken my time to go this thread all the way to Part 4, and it's seems the idea is to go through the same process as previous UK visa application(successful application) with updated documents. From my findings so far, it seems people who applied for long term visas be it 2, 5 or 10years all got approvals based on their previous success and having used their previous visas without overstaying or defaulting on any immigration policy.

My question is are there people with previous UK Visas who applied for long term visas and got rejected, despite following the same process that previously got them a visa approval and what was the reason for the refusal?

Gurus in the house please I'll need your wealth of experience

Honestly you don't need to give this explanation, it's too much information. You've gone above and beyond already. If anybody doesn't believe your story, that's on them. You don't owe anyone here any explanation, your initial outline on the phone call with the embassy is a great contribution to this platform. Please desist from further explanation especially for people interrogating your personal experience and looking for holes in your story.

Someone on this platform shared her experience on how she got a 1year multiple entry visa on her 1st attempt. She outlined all the documents she submitted, some people on this platform were questioning and doubting the possibility. Na wa!

Atinukemi23:
OMG, long written epistle was how I narrated all in WRITING and it was quite alot and having to put all together.

As it seems I believe some thought it was a fabricated story lol.
The fact that we got a phone call doesn't mean someone else will .
I just thought I would help.
Anyway to make this easier I am not the one travelling from Naija, I helped my Uncle and his kids apply here online, easier to use a UK card to make payments and all that, even though my uncle was in doubt they may not be granted due to their non international travel history only to few african countries only, and when he called me shortly after he received the phone call and was narrating how the conversation went I was SURPRISED because we were waiting for pick up email not a CALL, if it was a business visa or spouse or a study visa then maybe but for a short stay ? Who would have thought ? and the call came in from a landline which is 02014628484 ( obviously if you dial the number it will not ring)
I am only few stops away from Eurostar Stpancras station and we are going to join them in France to spend time together before they return to Nigeria.
I just thought it would be better to let others be aware that you MAY be called and in case you get a phone call be prepared, if he had not picked the call we obviously don't know what would
have happened, but I told him he will
Be granted since he has clarified the consular doubts.
But if some still think its a fabricated story, I honestly do not think I have to keep explaining myself, I personally was begining to get worried when the waiting time was getting longer.
But to each of their own.
Thanks to those who reached out to me privately asking about the pick up email as they were concerned and this are people who are frequent travellers and had multiple.
But for my uncle and his kids this is their first international visa, of course some may say it is not a big deal but it is for them.
Even here in England with your BRP france dey chop person eye anyhow, greece is far more better sha make sure you have a valid return tickets with payment confirmation you are good
This one wey schengen visa don turn to Gold alot of us has been in the game since, expecially the family of EEA national days before UK comot, we don't pay a dime.
All the best everyone.
I am out of here.

Normally Visitors visa has no right to appeal and administrative review, browse through UK government website, navigate to complaint and send in your complain. If they see it as a serious case, it will undergo investigation.
Make sure you debate and query those paragraphs on which the VO resfused ur application.
Alright thank you. Please share the link for the for the complaint, I'm unable to find the section on the website.

Hello guys,
I applied for 2yrs visa on june 2023 and was denied, and i reapplied for 6months visa on August 2023 and was also denied. On same August i submitted an appeal for a review, this morning i got a message from sheffield saying that the decision to refuse my visa has been overturned, that i should submit my passport to the visa application center.
I use to live in Mauritius, but I'm currently in SA, my question is can i send my passport to the VAC here in SA, VAC Kenya or must i send my passport to the VAC in Mauritius.
My last UK visa was processed in Johannesburg, while the previous two denials my passport was sent to Kenya because Mauritius doesn't have UK embassy.
Please can you inform on how you went about the appeal process. I have someone in a similar situation, his visa was refused a second time and from the reason stated it's obvious his application was not treated on it's merit.

Please I need guidance on applying for a Schengen visa.
I checked page one but there's no detailed information.
Apart from insurance, hotel, flight and proof of income and employment... I want to know if I have to pay for appointment at TLS, secondly how much is the visa application fee?
Is it the same TLS visa application center for UK ?

In summary, what else do I need to budget for apart from the ones listed above?
The best way to maximise a platform like this is to patiently read through the thread, start your process and come with specific or peculiar questions with regards to your application. If you do that, you'll realise most or all of your questions have been answered before. Sometimes a mere Google search of your question with nairaland.com at the end of it will take you to a specific page where house members have delibrated extensively on the subject matter with sound answers/solutions

This is encouraging fraud and forgery. Once you start telling a lie you'll need more lies to keep it going. You are part of the reason why Nigerians have a bad image with visas, because these countries have seen all manner of forgery especially from Nigeria. Even if you're successful using forgery, there will always be unintended consequences in future, the kind you won't see coming.

To the person who asked the question @ajalalomo, I'll encourage you to go with @giselle237's option. You'll need documentation, payslips from the company which explains your basic, allowances, bonuses and the likes.

It is very possible to get your visa approved based on your income and savings, you just need documentation to back it up. Whatever you do, please do not forge documents

No hope, in light of oanda exchange rates he needs to change his job to one that will offer him atleast 400k per month. I'm not saying he should quit his current job oh, I'm saying create ghost work for visa purpose

Since he has 5million he can painstakingly look for where he can draft employment letter with letterheaded of a company with atleast registeration on CAC (any company will do) and state therein that he will be earning 400k per month basic salary with annual salary of 4.8million for whatever job post as long as it tallies with whatever he graduated with in school here cos he will also need his degree and associated post grad certs if any when applying grin.

He will need a new bank account to go with this that the company can be paying into on a particular day of every month and run it for 4months.

He can grow the money from 300thousand opening account in his new account for the company to be paying into and strictly spend not more than 50k every month with that his 5million that he already has.

If the money reach 1.8m or more after the 4 months, he is home and dry to apply. grin

If he does this the only thing he will need to prove when applying are letters of casual leave from this fictitious workplace on a week visit to the UK reinforced by cover letter ofcourse grin

Bio February 17th
Sometimes "keep my passport" option can be an issue. Several persons on this platform have shared difficulties they faced using that option. I would recommend you send a paid mail to UKVI after 10/15 working days from biometrics. You'll likely get a generic response telling you to wait another 10/15 WD especially if a decision has been made. In my case I sent several paid mails to which I got replies that a decision had been made and advised to wait 10WD,15 WD and another 15WD, I eventually ended up going to TLS office w/o invitation, as my travel date was getting close and I had been waiting for 2months+. The moment I shared my experience with one of the officials, they asked me if a decision has been made, I said yes, showed them the last mail I got from UKVI. They asked that I submit my passport. Two days later it was delivered to my house with vignette.
