Here are my tips for the Champions League matches taking place on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd of February.
Champions League Predictions – Tuesday 21st February
Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid

This is an intriguing match up which pits two sides against each other that have underperformed domestically this season by their own high standards. Yet interestingly, both have done better in Europe, Atletico topping Group D in front of Bayern Munich, while Leverkusen pipped Tottenham to second spot in Group E behind Monaco.

Both teams have won their last two games but also have struggled for a little consistency at times this season. However, Atletico’s form in the Champions League gas been superb with five wins and just a single defeat in their six games. Goals have proven to be a problem for the Spanish side with just seven scored in the group stage, however they did concede just two in that period.

Leverkusen were undefeated in the group stage but won two and drew four of their games to qualify, scoring eight but conceding four goals and what this tells us is that goals are certainly likely to be at a premium when these two teams clash on Tuesday night.

You can get tempting odds on any selection in the Match Result market here and normally, I’d plump for one of these but instead, I’m going to go for the 17/10 (2.70) with BetVictor on there being under 1.5 goals in this match up.
Manchester City v AS Monaco

The second game on Tuesday night sees Manchester City host AS Monaco in what looks like an intriguing clash. City lie second in the Premier League, while Monaco are top of the French League with 59 points and a stunning +52 goal difference.

Monaco only lost their last Group Stage game in the previous round when they were already qualified and they did the double over Tottenham during those six games. That alone should give City plenty of warning as to how strong their opponents are.

Add to that a good record against English teams in general in this competition and you can see why some City fans are not feeling too confident ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

City’s recent form is improved after some shaky performances over the new year period, but wins over West Ham, Swansea City and Bournemouth have hardly been ground-breaking and there is no sign of City playing the free-flowing football that they displayed in their 10 game winning run at the start of the season.

That will be a worry for Guardiola, especially against a team who have an excellent away record both in Europe and domestically.

My gut feeling here is that Monaco will score at least one goal on the evening, if not more, but that City will just edge a narrow win. However in the second leg those away goals could prove crucial. As such, I’m backing Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 23/10 (3.30) with 888Sport.
UCL Tips – Wednesday 22nd February
FC Porto v Juventus

Both of these teams come into this game on the back of six-game winning streaks and both currently are top of their respective domestic league table, albeit Porto by two points with Benfica having a game in hand on them. Juventus in contrast are ten points clear at the top of Serie A and look set to win the league yet again for what would be the fifth time in a row.

Juventus came through the group stage easily winning four and drawing two games, the highlight of which was a superb 3-1 victory in Seville against a very strong Sevilla side. The Italian side rattled in 11 goals in the group stage, conceding just two in the process.

FC Porto’s progress wasn’t quite so easy, a home draw with Copenhagen and defeat away at Leicester putting them on the back foot, however thet then won three of their last four games, as well as drawing in Copenhagen to progress, beating group winners Leicester 5-0 in the process in their final group game. Overall Porto scored 9 and conceded 3 goals during the group phase.

Looking at the stats, this is a game where I think goals will be at a premium and while the bookmakers have Juventus as the very strong favourites to win here, I think Porto will still be in this come the second leg in Turin.
As such, I am going to take the draw at 11/5 (3.20) on offer with Bet365. I’m expecting this one to be a very tight 0-0 or 1-1 draw.
Sevilla v Leicester City

Both these sides won silverware last season, Sevilla the Europa League, Leicester City the Premier League, but since then the fortunes of the two teams have taken very different paths.

Buoyed by their success, Sevilla have pushed on this season to reach the latter stages of the Champions League and sit in third place in La Liga, just behind Real Madrid and Barcelona and still within touching distance of top spot.

Leicester, while doing well in their first ever Champions League campaign, have struggled hugely in the league and now sit just one point off the relegation places and in desperate need of finding some form in order to avoid the drop into the Championship just one year on from lifting the title.

The contrast in form between the two sides could not be more obvious and add to this Leicester’s 5-0 thumping at Porto in their final group game and you have to wonder if the Foxes are in for an equally torrid evening against a side who are probably just as good, if not better, than the Portuguese side.

While I’d love Leicester to stand a chance in this tie, I can’t see it. Sevilla are very experienced in European competition and have some outstanding players, they are confident and in form, the precise opposite of Leicester at the moment.

I can only see a handsome win here for the home side and so I am going to back the 9/4 (3.25) with Bet365 on over 3.5 goals in this clash, either a 4-0 win for Sevilla, or perhaps a 3-1 win for the home side being the most likely scoreline.
