For someone who kept an impressive 16 league clean sheets and 9 UCL clean sheets in his debut season and whose heroically contributed to Chelsea’s Champions League triumph, Edouard Mendy’s omission from the Ballon D'or list came as a surprise for many but it wasn’t surprising to me. Did he deserve to be amongst the select few?. Although many would give their answers differently to this poser, my humble opinion is, Yes with emphasis. Did he do enough to make the cut?, the simple answer is, Yes. Then it begs the question why was Edouard Mendy omitted? The answer is simple, it is because Mendy lacks the requisite portfolio. He may have been outstanding and whatnot last campaign but he did not have the track record to... https://aprokoarena.com/one-tangible-reason-why-mendy-was-overlooked-for-ballon-dor-award/ |
Seeing your child do things no one expects children of his age to do in public sometimes makes parents develop feelings of doubt, regret. Very often, these parents begin to question God on why He blessed them with such a unique child. The story of Ardi Rizal, unlike that of many children in Indonesia, attracted much public attention a few years ago. At the time when the young boy was discovered, he was smoking 40 cigarettes a day and even more. His mother in one of the many interviews she granted revealed that the smoking addiction of Ardi started when Ardi's father gave him his first cigarette when he was only 18 months old. That single action of Ardi's father became a thorn in the flesh of the young boy, his parents, and the Indonesian government. Ardi could not do without smoking as he became addicted to cigarettes at that tender age. Ardi would kick and fight if his father refuses to give him enough cigarettes in a day. Speaking eight years ago, his mum said: “At first when we were weaning Ardi off the cigarettes, he would have terrible tantrums”. At age 5 Ardi was already weighing 22kg and was almost weighing six kilograms which are way above the normal weight of a child of his age when the government of Indonesia intervened. The Indonesian government... https://aprokoarena.com/remember-the-2-year-old-who-was-smoking-40-cigarettes-a-day-checkout-what-happened/ |
Those who have a forgiven heart would look back and glorify Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for pouring out his human kindness to Amaka Anajemba the same way Christ did in the Bible when he met a woman who was about to be stoned for being a prostitute. In the Christ-like injunction, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi passed his injunction saying, “Woman, go and sin no more” but unlike Christ, he rewarded her with a highly demanding political appointment in the state. [Amaka Anajemba, Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency] Those who always find everything Governor Ugwuanyi did in the bad light did not find this political appointment worthy. To them, there is more than meets the eye. They believe that the appointment of the self-acclaimed Queen of fraud as the Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA) by Governor Ugwuanyi is a way he is using to show appreciation and payback for some significant job she did for the governor. Whether the reason adduced by the latter is something to go by or thrown away, what we all know is that the appointment and continuous retention of Amaka Anajemba, a woman widely acknowledged as Nigeria's queen of 419 by Governor Ugwuanyi administration does not speak well of that State at the moment. Ugwuanyi Should have compensated her in the dark without bringing her to the forefront of politics. He should have allowed her to control the government on the sideline and not make her a director years after a court of competent jurisdiction convicted her for being a conspirator in the biggest crime in Nigeria. The Selling Of Fake Airport To Brazilian Banker By Nwude, Anajemba And Others And The Wages Of 419 The story began in 1995 when Nelson Tetsuo Sakaguchi, a Japanese man living in Brazil struck a deal with a certain Nigerian scammer, Emmanuel Nwude. Nkem Okeke must have heard his boss, Willie Obiano jokingly say in Igbo “Okro Anaghi Eto Kari Onye Kuru Ya” (The okro cannot grow taller than the planter). The ambitious Deputy Governor must have taken this adage literally by translating it to mean "No matter how elevated Okeke gets in life, Okeke can never surpass the hands that groomed him". By merely looking at the above, it is either that Okeke is hallucinating or I am hallucinating from my end. The recent defection of Anambra Deputy Governor into All Progressive Congress a few days before the Anambra state governorship election is indeed something every APGA member would look at and decide to nail Okeke on a locally made cross for dumping the party that made him and joining hand with the opposition a few days before the election. If you recall, Nkem Okeke was presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Chairman of the APC campaign organization for the November 6 governorship election, Hope Uzodinma. This was coming days after Governor Wilie Obiano explained that the reason why he was absent at the South-East governorship meeting held in Enugu was that the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma is an informant of the Federal government planting discord in Anambra state. Whatever it is that is going on between the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, and his counterpart, Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, what is important to note now is that the action of Nkem Okeke confirms that there is indeed a plot between the two governors. One Sense Nkem Okeke Made By Defecting To APC The action of the Anambra Deputy governor in dumping APGA a few days before the election to join a party headed by a man... https://aprokoarena.com/anambra-why-the-defection-of-anambra-deputy-governor-to-apc-makes-one-sense/ |
You are right here. Rochas Okorocha did everything good until his own people decided to destroy his career. Igbos need unity first and they need to learn how to appreciate their own. |
Master storyteller Chinua Achebe captured in a figurative manner the vexed issue of alienation that has remained a stumbling block between the South-East and the rest of Nigeria. Late Chinua Achebe's fictitious society presented some characters in attendance to the new yam festival where a heap of pounded yam is served to invited guests. The heap of pounded yam is so massive that it prevented one man from acknowledging the presence of his inlaw who is at the other side of the dish. After many hours of feasting, the pounded yam is reduced to a level where both in-laws could now see themselves, shake hands over the remnant, and trade banters. Although many would argue that Chinua Achebe's fictitious world has no place in our modern reality, it however explains, in a nutshell, the importance of Iri Iji Ohuu in Igboland. Unlike in Chinua Achebe's Umuofia where the heavy heap of pounded yam meal stands as a wedge preventing both inlaws from acknowledging the presence of each other, the present Igbo society is battling with disunity among themselves and marginalization in the federal setup. Tinubu Presidential Ambition Another Stumbling Block For Igbos?. Although many Igbos believe that now is the right time for the Igbos to actualize the Igbo Presidential Agenda, what they must however also agree with is the fact that Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves it more if APC... https://aprokoarena.com/2023-election-tinubu-presidential-ambition-a-stumbling-block-for-igbo-presidency/ |
Late Ikemba Nnewi while discussing Nigerian faulty federalism was quoted to have said, “God did not make a mistake in creating Ndigbo and creating the Hausa and Yoruba beside them. I did not have anything against Nigerians or the Nigerian government. What I am saying is that let the eagle perch and let the kite perch as well, because the country belongs to all of us”. Many years after Chukwumeka Odumegwu Ojukwu expressed his desire for one indivisible Nigerian state, people of his own ethnic group have continued to face structural marginalization. The Igbos have continued to hope that the Nigerian state remembers them and allows them to rule the country 56 years after the last Igbo man ruled. What Are The Challenges Igbos Have Faced So Far In This Quest? The main problem the Igbos have faced is a personal one. For many years, the Igbos themselves have continued to pursue this quest in the wrong way. If you recall, the 2003 quest for Igbo presidency files because it was wrongly timed and also because the Igbos battled disunity... https://aprokoarena.com/2023-election-tougher-days-ahead-for-igbo-presidency/ |
Looking back at the political successes All Progressive Congress has achieved a few years after it was formed, many who never gave them a chance before the 2015 election will be hiding in shame while counting their teeth in regrets. These Nigerians that swore never to associate with the party are now ghosting around key APC members hoping to be invited to the dinner table of the great party. If you recall, some well-known politicians who were caught on Camera declaring that they will never join APC are today smiling at the camera while posing with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa. Two notable Nigerians that swore never to join APC are former Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode and Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle. These two politicians and many others are today praising the leadership of APC and hoping that the 2023 election swing in their favor. APC Failure In South-East The All Progressive Congress might have captured the attention of many Nigerians from the South-West, and the majority of Northern States, it has however... https://aprokoarena.com/with-2-governors-in-the-south-east-apc-is-yet-to-test-electoral-victory-in-igboland/ |
Abandonment, persecution, and violence became their companion days after their biological parents abandoned them to die on the street under the guise of not wanting to associate with witches and wizards. At that tender age, these Nigerians already lost their childhood experience, as they are now forced to become adults drinking and surviving by the street codes. Usually, these young boys and girls roam the street pickpocketing from adults who are meant to protect and shelter them. It now becomes the case of the hunted becoming the hunter. All this is the common situation, there are however a number of these abandoned children who end up in the wrong hands. While the majority of them end up in hotels where they are used as sex slaves, others end up where they continue to face other forms of abuse daily. [Crusade against witches and wizards organized by a Pentecostal Church] The Manipulating Fears. You might be asking, why would a parent decide to call his or her own child a witch and abandon them to die on the street?. The idea of witchcraft is something prevalent in many African communities. Very often, these bizarre practices end up even in the house of God. Some untrained men of God in a bid to convince members of the public to join their ministry, label young children especially the vulnerable witches. These things happen mainly in Pentecostal Churches located in rural areas in Nigeria. The majority of Akwa Ibom residents including members of the Ibibio, Annang, and the Oro ethnic groups believe in the religious existence of spirits and witches. What usually happens in these communities is that there is a constant campaign of violence against witches. These so-called witches end up becoming vulnerable like old women, young children. [Before and after photo of Hope] The Touching Story of Hope Who Was Labeled A Witch In Uyo And Later Saved. Let's take a flashback to February 2016 when a little boy was discovered wandering around the street of Uyo in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria with his stomach riddled with worms. If you think this is a Bollywood movie, you should think again and again. The worship of many bizarre things in African communities is no longer new to us. The stories of natives who live under the same roof with snakes are no longer new. These persons converse with this dreaded reptile that deceived Eve according to biblical stories. Although this practice is fast drifting away because of modern religious practices, people still observe them. The near success story of the former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode presents a perfect opportunity for aspiring politicians to look at multiple times before embarking on any journey within the Nigerian political terrain. Unlike other politicians birthed by political godfatherism, Ambode tried to bite the finger that fed him and ended up half bruised like King Oedipus of ancient Greece. At a time, the former Accountant General of Lagos State had everything going for him before those he offended decided to dim his shining light unapologetically. Ambode believed so much that he would win his second governorship bid, convincingly without external help. Although many Nigerians took to social media to criticize President Muhammadu Buhari when he suspended Twitter in Nigeria for deleting his tweet, one thing these critics failed to recognize is the fact that the action of Mr. President is for the good of all Nigerians. The reoccurring false information we see on Twitter on daily basis is a call for concern and the relevant stakeholders need to up their games and ensure that those misusing social media receive appropriate punishments.Femi Fani Kayode/Facebook Recently, the former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode shared an inciting tweet to the general public. In the said tweet, the well-known politician brought to life an old video of some hoodlums stopping buses in 2017 and demanding that all persons from the Hausa tribe come out of the moving vehicle with the caption “Igbo People Were Stopping Cars And Looking For Hausa People To Target And Kill”. Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Manchester United side have looked bleak in recent games having shared the spoils in their last EPL game at home to Everton, narrowly escaped with a win against familiar foes Villareal in their second UCL group game, lost at home to Aston Villa and crashed out of the Carabao Cup via a narrow defeat to West Ham who they had unconvincingly defeated few days earlier in the league. While this would have ordinarily been overlooked as a mere dip in form, the acquisition of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window means these sort of performances will no longer be swept https://aprokoarena.com/trying-times-for…anchester-united/ |

SHARETWEET Photo Credit: Sahara Reporters Do you think that President Muhammadu Buhari performed exceedingly well in office?. Do you think that his predecessors performed better than him?. The coming into power of President Buhari-led Federal government in 2015 resonated with the idea of hope and a better Nigeria for the majority of Nigerians especially the poor. These Nigerians who previously lost hope in the system once again embraced the idea that President Buhari would steer the country back into the promised land. 6 years after President Muhammadu Buhari took over power from former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, many things have changed. One right recognized in CHAPTER IV of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is “Freedom of Expression“. This right is seen as one of the inalienable rights every government must protect at all costs. Although the Buhari-led federal government is working hard to ensure that these rights are well protected, some persons seem to be sabotaging his effort as they are hiding under the Buhari administration to trample on the right of Nigerians. According to a report made public by Sahara Reporters, about 7 Buhari Must Go Protesters have been arrested in Abuja. The said protesters include Benjamin Mannaseh, Mohammed Labaran, Danjuma Patience, and Ibraheem. They were reportedly taken to Galadimawa Police Station and are now being moved to FCT Police Command according to the report. https://aprokoarena.com/2021/10/01/the-alleged-arrest-brutalization-of-buharimustgo-protesters-on-independence-day-a-good-move/ |
The activities of Nnamdi Kanu's newly formed Eastern Security Network (ESN) is fast becoming a source of worry to all peace-loving Nigerians.
