When she told the family, Rana embraced her but her eyes filled with tears. The children wept for hours. Little Sami clung to her legs and asked, “Can I come with you, Mama Selam?”

Selam walked through the gate with a full heart knowing she'd left behind something rare: love.

Back in Ethiopia, she opened the letters one by one. The last was from Rana: “You were never a worker. You were our family. Come back any time. Our home will always be yours.”
