Please just put Nigeria instead of “Africa”. Are you sending her this mail for her to be your supervisor? If yes, please just go straight to the point. Try and read her articles/publications and if it interests you, tell her so and how yours is also related. Ask her if she’s still accepting students. Don’t sound like you desperate for funding.

“In helping you gain admission” How? A professor will only speak in support of your application to the admission committee if he/she likes your research work/interest.

Personal Advice: Go back to the faculty website and read about this graduate cordinator. If you like her achievements so far, then you’ll be able to write up something good.
