Mr. Ade reached his workplace at about 7:30 in the morning, stepping out of his car, he stared at the nulti-complex secretariat that has now become his office of private practice. His office was located at the top floor an having no elavators meant he would have to climb all the way up to the seventh floors using the stairs. How we dreaded that climb every morning and wished for an elevator, but since the secretariat was designed so long ago, all efforts to insert one proved abortive.
Reaching the top floor, he passed the office of his assistant Bisi who upon sighting him rose up with a good morning sir! Morning he replied motioning he didn't want to engage in any more conversations which she quickly took. Cancel all appointments within the next three hours he said and I don't want any disturbance. Yes sir she replied and took back her seat to continue what she was doing in the monitor in front of her.

PROLOGUE.

Goodbye honey I love you! She said, like she did always, this time amidst teary eyes standing by the door holding his briefcase in her hands. He came close, looked her in the eyes and collected the briefcase from her hands leaving the door open behind him without saying a word. It wasn't like she was expecting a reply and his silence wasn't entirely a surprise. It was the same silence that befell the house like a vacuum creating an overwhelming sense of emptiness, it was a dark shadow that suddenly loomed in the house. She closed the door behind him and sat on the couch. She suddenly got lost in her thoughts and filled with mixed emotions, she started to cry. She made no effort to stop or control herself and totally let herself cry. What she saw or didn't see in his eyes was something she couldn't shake off. It was an emptiness she has never seen before. Still crying, she didn't know when she slept off.
