Politics › Jonathan To Opposition Politicians: Nigeria Is Nobody’s Personal Estate by chaloner(op): 6:13pm On Dec 25, 2014 |
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday re-echoed his earlier advice to politicians to avoid sowing the seed of discord and hatred through their utterances ahead of the 2015 general elections. He also reminded opposition politicians that Nigeria does not belong to anyone and cannot be considered anybody’s personal estate. Speaking at a special Christmas service at St. Mathew’s Anglican Church in Maitama, Abuja, the president reminded politicians of the need to base their campaigns strictly on developmental issues and nothing more. The president said he was always embarrassed by divisive utterances made by some politicians, noting that those involved in such do not mean well for the country. “As a politician, you want people to elect you to perform your responsibilities. If you mean well for the country, you wouldn’t be fanning the embers of discord and hatred. “Nigeria is nobody’s personal estate, but you want to serve. If the people want you to serve, you serve. But if they say no, then leave. “So, I get embarrassed when we the politicians make provocative statements, statements that create division among Nigerians and that can set this country ablaze,” he said. He said further, “I don’t think that is what a leader should do; it is not the kind of seed a leader should sow “Those who take government by violence hardly end well; examples abound in some African countries. “So, if a politician is interested in power at any level, you don’t sow seed of discord and enmity because it will consume you if you try to.” Mr. Jonathan thanked religious leaders and followers for their continued prayers for peace and unity for the country especially during this period. www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/173799-jonathan-opposition-politicians-nigeria-nobodys-personal-estate.html |

The Boko haram attacked in the Northern Nigeria has sent not less than 12,000 innocent Nigerians to an untimely grave. The Sultan of Sokoto,Dr. Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, revealed that it is Northerners that are behind all the attacks and insecurity in the North of the Country. ''Whatever happens in the North is our own doing – Sultan of Sokoto respected Islamic cleric and Sultan of Sokoto Dr. Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar III said that the present insecurity and other associated challenges tearing the Northern region apart were caused by the Northern region people themselves. The traditional ruler said this while speaking in Kaduna at a meeting of the Northern Governors Peace and Reconciliation Committee. He noted that the problem of the north will remain the problem of the entire country, since the North could not be left with its problems alone'' https://m./222919287822515?view=permalink&id=727162660731506&refid=7&_ft_=qid.6096815741085340430%3Amf_story_key.1019175048499838098&__tn__=%2As |

Politics › Re: Bishop Isong Dares Buhari To Publicly Promise Not To Islamise Nigeria by chaloner(m): 10:33am On Dec 25, 2014 |
babadee1: If Buhari really wanted to Islamize Nigeria he would have done it a long time ago as military head of state, not now under the democratic era. How exactly would that work? Will he send a bill to the National Assembly to vote on that Ngeria should be under sharia law? And after that will two-thirds of all the state houses of assembly in the country ratify that vote? People need to think these things through before they talk. This so called bishop is just another rabble rouser. we dnt wan to hear stories dat touch, obasanjo did dat even put us in OIC or wat nd islamise some states so buhari will do worse bro , so beta we kick him out nw for good |
