CultureEverytime I Give A Speech In Kaduna, I Get Into Trouble" - Emir Sanusi Cries Out by chazdhe(op): 5:23pm On Sep 12, 2017
The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II on Tuesday, while speaking at the commissioning of Olam International’s feed mill poultry said he gets into trouble whenever he delivers a speech in Kaduna.

According to The Cable, he said;

“It is always a pleasure to associate with the giant strides driven by my friend, the governor of Kaduna state.

“The problem, of course, is that every time I give a speech in Kaduna, I get myself into trouble.”

Sanusi also said the agricultural sector is crucial to securing employment for Nigeria’s teeming young population.

He added that the sector is not only important to food security but also necessary for national security.

He said;

“Nigeria has a population of 170 million. In the next 20 years, we are going to have 85 million Nigerians between the ages of 20 and 40. That is more than the population of Germany, the world’s third largest economy,”

“The only way we are going to provide for this mass of young men is to invest in Agriculture and industry. So, this is not just about food security, it is about the security of our nation.”

He urged Nigerians to invest in the productivity and profitability of agriculture, as it is “one of the main drivers of security for this country in the future”.

He added that the number of direct and indirect jobs that will be created by the initiative gladdens him.

He said;

“Development is now being driven by cities and not by the Federation. Everywhere in the world now, it is the city of New York, the city of Atlanta, city of Chicago, the city of London, city of Paris, the city of Tokyo,”

“So, the governors are far more important in development in Nigeria than the federal government and the only way to bring development to the grass root is for every governor to go out internationally and locally to encourage private investment and create jobs in his state.”

Sanusi asked Olam International to make Kano state its next site of investment, saying; “We can compete with Kaduna on ease of doing business. Kano is a much bigger market with a long history of commerce. So I’m out here to market Kano”.

CrimeDirector In Lagos Ministry Of Youths Commits Suicide by chazdhe(op): 2:41pm On Sep 12, 2017
A Director in Lagos State Ministry of Youths, identified as Mr Oludare Buraimoh, has committed suicide by hanging in his room.

Buraimoh, who lives at Unity Estate, Phase II, Gbonagun, Abeokuta, took his life at about 4.00 p.m. on Monday after attending to his son Dotun, who was sick.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), many sympathisers, who spoke in silent tones about the ugly incident, were seen in the compound.

Dotun told NAN that the incident happened around 4.00 p.m. after his father gave him a drug to treat malaria.

Dotun said;

“We were both at home; he came to give me a drug and left me thinking he was going to retire to his room. But when I did not hear his voice I called him, but no response came.

“I, thereafter, went to his room only to find him hanging on the ceiling with a traditional Aso Oke tied to his neck and a stool with which he committed the suicide.

“I then alerted the neighbours, who in turn, told me to alert the police, which I did,”

The wife of the deceased said she was yet to come to terms with her husband’s despicable act.

She said;

“I don’t know what came over him, it is inexplicable.

“We have been surviving through the thick and thin and now that we ought to sit down and enjoy after all the years of toiling, he decided to take his life.

“He did not show any sign of depression at the time he committed suicide.

“He was in high spirit, what led him to this remained a riddle,”

The Obantoko Police Station, where the incident was reported, confirmed the suicide.

DSP Rasheed Olaleye of the station confirmed the incident, but declined to give further comments, saying that the DPO would be in the best position to handle the case.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at General Hospital, Abeokuta, after clearance from the police.
