CHESS IN SLUMS We are a cause focused on training the kids living in slum communities the Game of Chess because we believe Chess is a game that offers so many techniques to equip a child with the necessities to fight the battle of life.. The End Game is not to just make them Champions in the Game of Chess but also Champions in the Game of Life. We are currently training 100 profiled kids in Majidun Ogolonto Community of Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria. This is the 7th month of this great movement and so far we have been able to use photo journalism on our social media platforms @chessinslums to tell the stories of these amazing kids and we have gotten lifelong scholarships for some of them.. We are currently running a GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN to sponsor the education cost and other necessities of our amazing students. We are set to rewrite the narrative and correct the wrong stereotype of the society about kids living in the Slums, our students have been opportune to participate in some chess competitions and they are currently participants of the ongoing CHESS PLAYERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA [CPAN] CHESS LEAGUE going on at Chevron.. We had our matches [23rd and 24th of March 2019] They fought gallantly and we are proud of their progress as they have only learnt the game for 7months and on weekends only with the limited resources we train them with. With the exposure and knowledge garnered, Their next match would definitely see a lot of improvement! We are Chess In Slums and we are on the path to unveil the royalty in every child. We are set to Raise Champions from the Slums! You can go on this journey with us on all our social media platforms @chessinslums
