As for Silva let's hope he doesn't turn into another Rui Costa. We shall see I agree Leo hasn't had the best of seasons however He has probably been the best of Central Defenders. He gets most of the Flak mostly because of the High transfer fee. Lol Rui Costa was actually decent(Not Fantastic) for the 2 seasons before the Arrival of Kaka. Neuer before joining Bayern was already better than every English keeper in the past 20yrs Wasn't even refering to Neuer, more like Adler. Neuer had to leave Schalke to attain Legendary status. Had He remained, all we would be hearing Is how He beasted in a Semi Final et al. |

raumdeuter: Buffon became number 1 ahead of Toldo, Perruzi who are very good keepers in their own right, Neuer became number 1 ahead of Adler who was also a good keeper. So becoming the number 1 keeper is a big deal.
Before they joined big clubs they have been greats.
Bonnuci is not a top defender, Chiellini is the main guy in that Juve setup, Bonnuci does didly squat thats why Milan fans are targetting him they bought into his hye and are now disappointed, Let's look at things from a German perspective . Even though I was simply making an assumption, I was right. Adler in your words was a Good goalie not a great one. I see no difference between Him and Hart. No Neuer was simply Highly rated before Joining Munich. Joining Munich took Him to the next level and made Him a Legend. No matter how many times you say it, the facts remains He is a Top defender whose presence was felt on both the italian and Juve teams. |

raumdeuter: Buffon was already a great keeper before joining Juve, He was Italian number 1. Same with Neuer he was German number 1 at Schalke
Bonnuci has been called a top 5 defender here. Many people will list him as one of the top defenders recently he only benefitted from cover from his Juve community defence. Individually he is a poor defender which is what he is showing now at Milan. Just like Terry who enjoyed the cover from more illustrious teammates. Which is why he has been extremely useless when away from the Chelsea setup
Below is an example Being German,Italian,Brazilian,Spanish or French No1 means diddly squat. It might just have been a barren period in that position for that particular team. What I am saying is that they attained their legendary status by Playing with Great Teams under Great Managers playing alongside other Great Players. Do you see how many times I use the word "Great" not "Mediocre"?. My point remains they would be nowhere as highly rated as they currently are if they had remained at their former clubs. He is not a poor Player. He is simply playing under a Terrible system whilst being coached by a wasteman. Which Terry? The same Terry that went to the Worldcup in 06 and played very well?. Lastly we can't deny Leo was one of the Top 5 Central Defenders at some point in time. Arguing against that is simply lying to yourself. As for the quote itself, you'll have to take issue with the Guy that wrote that as you know my Position on Boateng. |

raumdeuter: Fact is that Bonnuci is overrated and I called it early most of the Juventus defenders are overrated and just benefit from a parapo defensive unit
Now Bonnuci has left, whoever his replacement is in Juve soon we would be hearing he is the defence stalwart.
Barzagli that was a monumental flop in Wolfsburg is now cutting it, The truth is when you have many people helping out in defence, as a defender you are covered, thats why many mediocre defenders like Terry have been able to escape scrutiny, shebi last season Luiz was heralded as a voltron because he played in parapo community defence, This season they dropped him got a young Christensen and Rudiger and the defence continued
Boateng went to City as a 21yr old defender, played as a RB and LB when Bayern a bigger club called, he did the rational thing left for a bigger team The term "overrated" has a different meaning to you and me then. No one has called Bonucci one of the greatest defenders of all time. Heck you'll name shyte loads of italian defenders before getting to Bonucci however in this current market, He is rated just fine. Buffon and Neuer have played for Great Teams may be we should also discard their achievements too. Let's See How highly rated they'd have been had Buffon stayed at Parma or Neuer at Schalke. Right now we know both of them as two of the greatest keepers of all time BECAUSE THEY PLAYED UNDER GREAT SYSTEMS FOR SUCCESFUL TEAMS. Twist it whatever way you want but most footballing pundits,Organisations and Fans recognise Terry as a great Defender. As for Luiz He had a great season last year but He has so far has been unable to replicate it this year. A few more years of Luiz playing anywhere close to How He played last year, He'll start getting rated Highly. |

E go better for you
When I told folks here that Bonnuci was mediocre and benefited from parapo defending they disagreed
Here is what I said about Bonnuci, I didnt even know say his disgrace would be in the same Italy Mate Milan's problem is not Bonucci. The Team as a whole has been useless. Put Baresi or Maldini in this team and the difference would be marginal. Great Defenders play either on Great Defensive teams or Dominating Teams. Ramos for all His greatness is a Red CardMagnet. Put Him in this Milan team, I doubt He'll play more than 25 games in the League. Boateng had to leave a Mediocre City side to get recognition. If He was still playing in Mediocre sides, He'll be nowhere near the Top Defenders in world footy. |

Roland17: We have to sort out our coaching problem if this team is to return to becoming competitive. After we lost Allegri, we have been experimenting with coaching. Hiring inexperienced heads like Inzaghi, Seedorf, Mihajlovic, Brocchi, Montella and now Gattuso. Milan has continued to make emotional decisions in a bid to reward loyalty while the whole team suffers irrespective of players we bring in.
Since Allegri left in 2014, we have had 7 coaches in 3 years with none of them lasting more than a season. While I love Gattuso, I don't think he is the solution to the coaching problem. We have to invest in hiring an experienced coach and if that means having Gattuso as interim until we find that long-term solution, so be it. Mateeeee I fit buy you any drink of your choice for this post of yours. Been saying this for years now. COACHING IS MILAN'S BIGGEST PROBLEM. |

A40: How una wan take recoup the bar una waste for Bonucci and Andre Silva? Bonucci will come good. The defence heck the The Team as a whole has been wack. Put Him in any Top Team and you'll have the Old Bonucci back. It's that simple. With Andre Silva, there is still hope. His performances in Europe gives me a cause to be optimistic. He has only played 10 league games which is not enough to judge any player by. I'll give Him more season. Don't forget He is still only 22. |

dopeJemi: I still believe Pep made the best out of the squad, did he buy the best players out there? definitely not, I bet you, if this City team were 3 or 4th on the log, very few will come here to say he has the best squad, Otamendi, stones and Co will remain shi.t in their eyes, cause I don't seem to understand how the players that were castigated last season have suddenly made up the squad that we now refer to as the "best".. Pep's magic
I'll agree to disagree on this one Is Pep getting the best of this squad? YES. If He wasn't they won't be this far ahead. They'll probably be about Level with United at the top of the table. Pep's defence whilst a vast improvement on last season's is still not that great. However that's not His strength. His strength has always been His attacking Flair. Looking at the Midfield +attack He has at it's disposal compared to that of His rivals, I think it's fair to say Pep has the edge in terms of personnel. Add this to Great Coaching and He becomes an unsolvable problem for the rest of the league. Give Mou that Mid+ Attack and He'll have them defending in no time. They'll still win games and might probably be at the top of the league but they won't be as good as this. Give Pooch this squad and He'll play scintillating footy almost as good as Pep but He'll end the season trophyless. Only Pep can play footy as good as this and still have something tangible to show for it come the end of the season. And oh yes I agree 100%. He is indeed MAGIC! |

Not one Man City player made the list, This further proves what I have been saying that Pep has made the best out of his Team, we all believe he has the best squad now because he is blowing teams away with ease, is it not on this same thread guys were arguing who the better player is between Hazard and KDB, Now there is no one like him in the league, wetin make the story change now?
As a Team, they are the best, because of their position on the log and the manner in which they got there, but do they have the best players? I don't think so because some of the players we call best now were castigated last season and most of us here would have passed on the chance to sign them
why didn't we scream best squad last season when they were fumbling? It's still the same Stones and otamendi, It's a forgetten Delph, a benched Walker, it's still the same Sterling, So what changed? You are singling out individual players whilst I am talking about the squad as a whole. Given a choice, most managers would pick city's. It's not as wide as some on this forum are making it out to be(that's just Bias against Pep speaking) but it's still marginally better. Last season Pep had the top2-3 squad in the league and with addition of a few players, the best currently. I have no doubt He would have won the league had His defence been up to par last season. Actually some thought He had the best squad last season hence the "Fraudiola" chants went up a notch. I have no doubts Pep's input into this squad has taken this team to the next level. The Man is a flipping coaching GENUIS for crying out loud. I was also one of His staunch supporters when the Fraudiola/Baldiola chants were at it's loudest but abeg let's not sell this squad of players short. |

dopeJemi: If Man City has the best squad, why do we have more players from other teams in the just concluded awards and nominations than City? after all, you guys claim they have the best squad Tbf City do have the Best Squad In the League. However they also do have THE BEST MANAGER IN THE LEAGUE hence why they are 11 points ahead and still growing. This situation is quite similar to that of Chelsea's in the 2004/05 season under Mourinho. The Best Squad + Best Manager combo is incredibly deadly. As I type now, only prayers and bad luck on the injury front the likes of which We have never seen before can stop these boys. |
